இவைகளுக்குப் பின்பு, யெஸ்ரயேலனாகிய நாபோத்துக்கு யெஸ்ரயேலிலே சமாரியாவின் ராஜாவாகிய ஆகாபின் அரமனை அண்டையில் ஒரு திராட்சத்தோட்டம் இருந்தது.

And it came to pass after these things, that Naboth the Jezreelite had a vineyard, which was in Jezreel, hard by the palace of Ahab king of Samaria.

ஆகாப் நாபோத்தோடே பேசி: உன் திராட்சத்தோட்டம் என் வீட்டிற்கு அடுத்திருக்கிறபடியால், அதைக் கீரைக்கொல்லையாக்கும்படி எனக்குக் கொடு, அதைப்பார்க்கிலும் நல்ல திராட்சத்தோட்டத்தை அதற்குப் பதிலாக உனக்குத் தருவேன்; அல்லது உனக்கு வேண்டுமானால், அதின் விலைக்கிரயமான பணத்தைத் தருவேன் என்றான்.

And Ahab spake unto Naboth, saying, Give me thy vineyard, that I may have it for a garden of herbs, because it is near unto my house: and I will give thee for it a better vineyard than it; or, if it seem good to thee, I will give thee the worth of it in money.

நாபோத் ஆகாபை நோக்கி: நான் என் பிதாக்களின் சுதந்தரத்தை உமக்குக் கொடாதபடி கர்த்தர் என்னைக் காப்பாராக என்றான்.

And Naboth said to Ahab, The LORD forbid it me, that I should give the inheritance of my fathers unto thee.

இப்படி என் பிதாக்களின் சுதந்தரத்தை உமக்குக் கொடேன் என்று யெஸ்ரயேலனாகிய நாபோத் தன்னோடே சொன்ன வார்த்தைக்காக ஆகாப் சலிப்பும் சினமுமாய்த் தன் வீட்டிற்கு வந்து, போஜனம் பண்ணாமல், தன் கட்டிலின் மேல் படுத்து, தன் முகத்தைத் திருப்பிக் கொண்டிருந்தான்.

And Ahab came into his house heavy and displeased because of the word which Naboth the Jezreelite had spoken to him: for he had said, I will not give thee the inheritance of my fathers. And he laid him down upon his bed, and turned away his face, and would eat no bread.

அப்பொழுது அவன் மனைவியாகிய யேசபேல் அவனிடத்தில் வந்து: நீர் போஜனம் பண்ணாதபடிக்கு, உம்முடைய மனம் சலிப்பாயிருக்கிறது என்ன என்று அவனைக் கேட்டதற்கு,

But Jezebel his wife came to him, and said unto him, Why is thy spirit so sad, that thou eatest no bread?

அவன் அவளைப் பார்த்து: நான் யெஸ்ரயேலனாகிய நாபோத்தோடே பேசி: உன் திராட்சத்தோட்டத்தை எனக்கு விலைக்கிரயமாய்க் கொடு; அல்லது உனக்கு ராசியானால் அதற்குப் பதிலாக வேறே திராட்சத்தோட்டத்தை உனக்குத் தருவேன் என்றேன். அதற்கு அவன்: என் திராட்சத்தோட்டத்தை உமக்குக் கொடுக்கமாட்டேன் என்று சொன்னான் என்றான்.

And he said unto her, Because I spake unto Naboth the Jezreelite, and said unto him, Give me thy vineyard for money; or else, if it please thee, I will give thee another vineyard for it: and he answered, I will not give thee my vineyard.

அப்பொழுது அவன் மனைவியாகிய யேசபேல் அவனை நோக்கி: நீர் இப்போது இஸ்ரவேலின்மேல் ராஜ்யபாரம்பண்ணுகிறவர் அல்லவா? நீர் எழுந்து போஜனம்பண்ணி மனமகிழ்ச்சியாயிரும்; யெஸ்ரயேலனாகிய நாபோத்தின் திராட்சத்தோட்டத்தை நான் உமக்குக் கொடுப்பேன் என்று சொன்னாள்.

And Jezebel his wife said unto him, Dost thou now govern the kingdom of Israel? arise, and eat bread, and let thine heart be merry: I will give thee the vineyard of Naboth the Jezreelite.

அவள் ஆகாபின் பெயரால் நிருபங்களை எழுதி, அவன் முத்திரையை அவைகளுக்குப் போட்டு, அந்த நிருபங்களை நாபோத் இருக்கும் பட்டணத்தில் அவனோடே குடியிருக்கிற மூப்பரிடத்துக்கும் பெரியோரிடத்துக்கும் அனுப்பினாள்.

So she wrote letters in Ahab's name, and sealed them with his seal, and sent the letters unto the elders and to the nobles that were in his city, dwelling with Naboth.

அந்த நிருபங்களில் அவள் எழுதினது என்னவென்றால்: நீங்கள் உபவாசம் என்று பிரசித்தப்படுத்தி, நாபோத்தை ஜனத்தின் முன் நிறுத்தி,

And she wrote in the letters, saying, Proclaim a fast, and set Naboth on high among the people:

தேவனையும் ராஜாவையும் தூஷித்தாய் என்று அவன்மேல் சாட்சி சொல்லுகிற பேலியாளின் மக்களாகிய இரண்டுபேரை அவனுக்கு எதிராக நிறுத்தி, அவனை வெளியே கொண்டுபோய் அவன் சாகும்படிக்கு அவனைக் கல்லெறியுங்கள் என்று எழுதினாள்.

And set two men, sons of Belial, before him, to bear witness against him, saying, Thou didst blaspheme God and the king. And then carry him out, and stone him, that he may die.

அவன் பட்டணத்திலே குடியிருக்கிற மூப்பரும் பெரியோருமாகிய அவன் பட்டணத்து மனுஷர், யேசபேல் தங்களுக்கு அனுப்பின நிருபங்களில் எழுதிக் கட்டளையிட்டிருந்தபடியே செய்தார்கள்.

And the men of his city, even the elders and the nobles who were the inhabitants in his city, did as Jezebel had sent unto them, and as it was written in the letters which she had sent unto them.

அவர்கள் உபவாசம் என்று பிரசித்தப்படுத்தி நாபோத்தை ஜனத்தின் முன்னே நிறுத்தினார்கள்.

They proclaimed a fast, and set Naboth on high among the people.

அப்பொழுது பேலியாளின் மக்களாகிய இரண்டுபேர் வந்து, அவனுக்கு எதிராக உட்கார்ந்து: நாபோத் தேவனையும் ராஜாவையும் தூஷித்தான் என்று ஜனத்திற்கு முன்பாக அவன்மேல் சாட்சி சொன்னார்கள்; அதற்குப்பின்பு அவனைப் பட்டணத்திற்கு வெளியே கொண்டுபோய், அவன் சாகும்படிக்கு அவனைக் கல்லெறிந்து,

And there came in two men, children of Belial, and sat before him: and the men of Belial witnessed against him, even against Naboth, in the presence of the people, saying, Naboth did blaspheme God and the king. Then they carried him forth out of the city, and stoned him with stones, that he died.

பிற்பாடு யேசபேலுக்கு, நாபோத் கல்லெறியுண்டு செத்தான் என்று சொல்லியனுப்பினார்கள்.

Then they sent to Jezebel, saying, Naboth is stoned, and is dead.

நாபோத் கல்லெறியுண்டு செத்ததை யேசபேல் கேட்டபோது, ஆகாபை நோக்கி: நீர் எழுந்திருந்து, யெஸ்ரயேலனாகிய நாபோத் உமக்கு விலைக்கிரயமாய்க் கொடுக்கமாட்டேன் என்று சொன்ன திராட்சத்தோட்டத்தைச் சொந்தமாய் எடுத்துக்கொள்ளும்; நாபோத் உயிரோடில்லை, அவன் செத்துப் போனான் என்றாள்.

And it came to pass, when Jezebel heard that Naboth was stoned, and was dead, that Jezebel said to Ahab, Arise, take possession of the vineyard of Naboth the Jezreelite, which he refused to give thee for money: for Naboth is not alive, but dead.

நாபோத் செத்துப்போனதை ஆகாப் கேட்டபோது, அவன் யெஸ்ரயேலனாகிய நாபோத்தின் திராட்சத்தோட்டத்தைச் சொந்தமாய் எடுத்துக்கொள்ளும்படி எழுந்து போனான்.

And it came to pass, when Ahab heard that Naboth was dead, that Ahab rose up to go down to the vineyard of Naboth the Jezreelite, to take possession of it.

கர்த்தருடைய வார்த்தை திஸ்பியனாகிய எலியாவுக்கு உண்டாயிற்று, அவர்:

And the word of the LORD came to Elijah the Tishbite, saying,

நீ எழுந்து, சமாரியாவிலிருக்கிற இஸ்ரவேலின் ராஜாவாகிய ஆகாபைச் சந்திக்கும்படி போ; இதோ, அவன் நாபோத்தின் திராட்சத்தோட்டத்தைச் சொந்தமாய் எடுத்துக்கொள்ள அங்கே போயிருக்கிறான்.

Arise, go down to meet Ahab king of Israel, which is in Samaria: behold, he is in the vineyard of Naboth, whither he is gone down to possess it.

நீ அவனைப் பார்த்து: நீ கொலை செய்ததும் எடுத்துக்கொண்டதும் இல்லையோ என்று கர்த்தர் சொல்லுகிறார்; நாய்கள் நாபோத்தின் இரத்தத்தை நக்கின ஸ்தலத்திலே உன்னுடைய இரத்தத்தையும் நாய்கள் நக்கும் என்று கர்த்தர் சொல்லுகிறார் என்று சொல் என்றார்.

And thou shalt speak unto him, saying, Thus saith the LORD, Hast thou killed, and also taken possession? And thou shalt speak unto him, saying, Thus saith the LORD, In the place where dogs licked the blood of Naboth shall dogs lick thy blood, even thine.

அப்பொழுது ஆகாப் எலியாவை நோக்கி: என் பகைஞனே, என்னைக் கண்டுபிடித்தாயா என்றான். அதற்கு அவன்: கண்டுபிடித்தேன்; கர்த்தரின் பார்வைக்குப் பொல்லாப்பானதைச் செய்ய நீ உன்னை விற்றுப்போட்டாய்.

And Ahab said to Elijah, Hast thou found me, O mine enemy? And he answered, I have found thee: because thou hast sold thyself to work evil in the sight of the LORD.

நான் உன்மேல் பொல்லாப்பு வரப்பண்ணி, உன் சந்ததியை அழித்துப் போட்டு, ஆகாபுக்கு சுவரில் நீர்விடும் ஒரு நாயாகிலும் இராதபடிக்கு இஸ்ரவேலில் அடைபட்டவனையும் விடுபட்டவனையும் சங்கரித்து,

Behold, I will bring evil upon thee, and will take away thy posterity, and will cut off from Ahab him that pisseth against the wall, and him that is shut up and left in Israel,

நீ எனக்குக் கோபம் உண்டாக்கி, இஸ்ரவேலைப் பாவஞ்செய்யப்பண்ணினதினிமித்தம், உன்னுடைய குடும்பத்தை நேபாத்தின் குமாரனாகிய யெரொபெயாமின் குடும்பத்துக்கும், அகியாவின் குமாரனாகிய பாஷாவின் குடும்பத்துக்கும் சமானமாக்குவேன் என்றார் என்று சொன்னான்.

And will make thine house like the house of Jeroboam the son of Nebat, and like the house of Baasha the son of Ahijah, for the provocation wherewith thou hast provoked me to anger, and made Israel to sin.

யேசேபேலையும் குறித்துக் கர்த்தர்: நாய்கள் யேசபேலை யெஸ்ரவேலின் மதில் அருகே தின்னும்.

And of Jezebel also spake the LORD, saying, The dogs shall eat Jezebel by the wall of Jezreel.

ஆகாபின் சந்ததியில் பட்டணத்திலே சாகிறவனை நாய்களும், வெளியிலே சாகிறவனை ஆகாயத்துப் பறவைகளும் தின்னும் என்றார்.

Him that dieth of Ahab in the city the dogs shall eat; and him that dieth in the field shall the fowls of the air eat.

தன் மனைவியாகிய யேசபேல் தூண்டிவிட்டபடியே, கர்த்தரின் பார்வைக்குப் பொல்லாப்பானதைச் செய்ய, தன்னை விற்றுப்போட்ட ஆகாபைப்போல ஒருவனுமில்லை.

But there was none like unto Ahab, which did sell himself to work wickedness in the sight of the LORD, whom Jezebel his wife stirred up.

கர்த்தர் இஸ்ரவேல் புத்திரருக்கு முன்னின்று துரத்திவிட்ட எமோரியர் செய்தபடியெல்லாம், அவன் நரகலான விக்கிரகங்களைப் பின்பற்றி, மகா அருவருப்பாய் நடந்துகொண்டான்.

And he did very abominably in following idols, according to all things as did the Amorites, whom the LORD cast out before the children of Israel.

ஆகாப் இந்த வார்த்தைகளைக் கேட்டபோது, தன் வஸ்திரங்களைக் கிழித்து, தன் சரீரத்தின்மேல் இரட்டைப்போர்த்துக்கொண்டு, உபவாசம்பண்ணி, இரட்டிலே படுத்துத் தாழ்மையாய் நடந்துகொண்டான்.

And it came to pass, when Ahab heard those words, that he rent his clothes, and put sackcloth upon his flesh, and fasted, and lay in sackcloth, and went softly.

அப்பொழுது கர்த்தருடைய வார்த்தை திஸ்பியனாகிய எலியாவுக்கு உண்டாயிற்று, அவர்:

And the word of the LORD came to Elijah the Tishbite, saying,

ஆகாப் எனக்கு முன்பாகத் தன்னைத் தாழ்த்தினதைக் கண்டாயா? அவன் எனக்கு முன்பாகத் தன்னைத் தாழ்த்துகிறபடியினால், நான் அவன் நாட்களில் அந்தப் பொல்லாப்பை வரப்பண்ணாமல், அவன் குமாரன் நாட்களில் அதை அவன் வீட்டின்மேல் வரப்பண்ணுவேன் என்றார்.

Seest thou how Ahab humbleth himself before me? because he humbleth himself before me, I will not bring the evil in his days: but in his son's days will I bring the evil upon his house.

சீரியருக்கும் இஸ்ரவேலருக்கும் மூன்று வருஷம் யுத்தமில்லாமலிருந்தது.

And they continued three years without war between Syria and Israel.

மூன்றாம் வருஷத்திலே யூதாவின் ராஜாவாகிய யோசபாத் இஸ்ரவேலின் ராஜாவினிடத்திற்குப் போயிருக்கும்போது,

And it came to pass in the third year, that Jehoshaphat the king of Judah came down to the king of Israel.

இஸ்ரவேலின் ராஜா தன் ஊழியக்காரரை நோக்கி: கீலேயாத்திலுள்ள ராமோத் நம்முடையதென்று அறியீர்களா? நாம் அதைச் சீரியா ராஜாவின் கையிலிருந்து பிடித்துக்கொள்ளாமல், சும்மாயிருப்பானேன் என்று சொல்லி,

And the king of Israel said unto his servants, Know ye that Ramoth in Gilead is ours, and we be still, and take it not out of the hand of the king of Syria?

யோசபாத்தை நோக்கி: கீலேயாத்திலுள்ள ராமோத்தின்மேல் யுத்தம்பண்ண என்னோடேகூட வருகிறீரா என்று கேட்டான். யோசபாத் இஸ்ரவேலின் ராஜாவை நோக்கி: நான்தான் நீர், என்னுடைய ஜனங்கள் உம்முடைய ஜனங்கள், என்னுடைய குதிரைகள் உம்முடைய குதிரைகள் என்றான்.

And he said unto Jehoshaphat, Wilt thou go with me to battle to Ramothgilead? And Jehoshaphat said to the king of Israel, I am as thou art, my people as thy people, my horses as thy horses.

பின்னும் யோசபாத் இஸ்ரவேலின் ராஜாவைப் பார்த்து: கர்த்தருடைய வார்த்தையை இன்றைக்கு விசாரித்து அறியும் என்றான்.

And Jehoshaphat said unto the king of Israel, Enquire, I pray thee, at the word of the LORD to day.

அப்பொழுது இஸ்ரவேலின் ராஜா ஏறக்குறைய நானூறு தீர்க்கதரிசிகளைக் கூடிவரச்செய்து: நான் கீலேயாத்திலுள்ள ராமோத்தின்மேல் யுத்தம்பண்ணப்போகலாமா, போகலாகாதா என்று அவர்களைக் கேட்டதற்கு; அவர்கள், போம், ஆண்டவர் ராஜாவின் கையில் ஒப்புக்கொடுப்பார் என்றார்கள்.

Then the king of Israel gathered the prophets together, about four hundred men, and said unto them, Shall I go against Ramothgilead to battle, or shall I forbear? And they said, Go up; for the Lord shall deliver it into the hand of the king.

பின்பு யோசபாத்: நாம் விசாரித்து அறிகிறதற்கு இவர்களையல்லாமல் கர்த்தருடைய தீர்க்கதரிசி வேறே யாராகிலும் இங்கே இல்லையா என்று கேட்டான்.

And Jehoshaphat said, Is there not here a prophet of the LORD besides, that we might enquire of him?

அப்பொழுது இஸ்ரவேலின் ராஜா, யோசபாத்தை நோக்கி: கர்த்தரிடத்தில் விசாரித்து அறிகிறதற்கு இம்லாவின் குமாரனாகிய மிகாயா என்னும் இன்னும் ஒருவன் இருக்கிறான்; ஆனாலும் நான் அவனைப் பகைக்கிறேன்; அவன் என்னைக்குறித்து நன்மையாக அல்ல, தீமையாகவே தீர்க்கதரிசனஞ் சொல்லுகிறவன் என்றான். அதற்கு யோசபாத், ராஜாவே, அப்படிச் சொல்லவேண்டாம் என்றான்.

And the king of Israel said unto Jehoshaphat, There is yet one man, Micaiah the son of Imlah, by whom we may enquire of the LORD: but I hate him; for he doth not prophesy good concerning me, but evil. And Jehoshaphat said, Let not the king say so.

அப்பொழுது இஸ்ரவேலின் ராஜா பிரதானிகளில் ஒருவனைக் கூப்பிட்டு: இம்லாவின் குமாரனாகிய மிகாயாவைச் சீக்கிரமாய் அழைத்துவா என்றான்.

Then the king of Israel called an officer, and said, Hasten hither Micaiah the son of Imlah.

இஸ்ரவேலின் ராஜாவும், யூதாவின் ராஜாவாகிய யோசபாத்தும், சமாரியாவின் ஒலிமுகவாசலுக்கு முன்னிருக்கும் விசாலத்திலே ராஜவஸ்திரம் தரித்துக்கொண்டவர்களாய், அவரவர் தம்தம் சிங்காசனத்தில் உட்கார்ந்திருந்தார்கள்; சகல தீர்க்கதரிசிகளும் அவர்களுக்கு முன்பாகத் தீர்க்கதரிசனஞ் சொன்னார்கள்.

And the king of Israel and Jehoshaphat the king of Judah sat each on his throne, having put on their robes, in a void place in the entrance of the gate of Samaria; and all the prophets prophesied before them.

கேனானாவின் குமாரனாகிய சிதேக்கியா தனக்கு இருப்புக்கொம்புகளை உண்டாக்கி, இவைகளால் நீர் சீரியரை முட்டி நிர்மூலமாக்கிப்போடுவீர் என்று கர்த்தர் சொல்லுகிறார் என்றான்.

And Zedekiah the son of Chenaanah made him horns of iron: and he said, Thus saith the LORD, With these shalt thou push the Syrians, until thou have consumed them.

சகல தீர்க்கதரிசிகளும் அதற்கு இசைவாகத் தீர்க்கதரிசனம் சொல்லி, கீலேயாத்திலுள்ள ராமோத்துக்குப் போம், உமக்கு வாய்க்கும்; கர்த்தர் அதை ராஜாவின் கையில் ஒப்புக்கொடுப்பார் என்றார்கள்.

And all the prophets prophesied so, saying, Go up to Ramothgilead, and prosper: for the LORD shall deliver it into the king's hand.

மிகாயாவை அழைக்கப்போன ஆள் அவனுடன் பேசி: இதோ, தீர்க்கதரிசிகளுடைய வார்த்தைகள் ஏகவாக்காய் ராஜாவுக்கு நன்மையாயிருக்கிறது; உம்முடைய வார்த்தையும் அவர்களில் ஒருவர் வார்த்தையைப்போல இருக்கும்படி நன்மையாகச் சொல்லும் என்றான்.

And the messenger that was gone to call Micaiah spake unto him, saying, Behold now, the words of the prophets declare good unto the king with one mouth: let thy word, I pray thee, be like the word of one of them, and speak that which is good.

அதற்கு மிகாயா: கர்த்தர் என்னிடத்தில் சொல்வதையே சொல்லுவேன் என்று கர்த்தருடைய ஜீவனைக்கொண்டு சொல்லுகிறேன் என்றான்.

And Micaiah said, As the LORD liveth, what the LORD saith unto me, that will I speak.

அவன் ராஜாவினிடத்தில் வந்தபோது, ராஜா அவனைப் பார்த்து: மிகாயாவே, நாங்கள் கீலேயாத்திலுள்ள ராமோத்தின்மேல் யுத்தம்பண்ணப்போகலாமா, போகலாகாதா என்று கேட்டான். அதற்கு அவன்: 'போம், உமக்கு வாய்க்கும்; கர்த்தர் அதை ராஜாவின் கையில் ஒப்புக்கொடுப்பார்' என்றான்.

So he came to the king. And the king said unto him, Micaiah, shall we go against Ramothgilead to battle, or shall we forbear? And he answered him, Go, and prosper: for the LORD shall deliver it into the hand of the king.

ராஜா அவனைப் பார்த்து: நீ கர்த்தருடைய நாமத்திலே உண்மையை அல்லாமல் வேறொன்றையும் என்னிடத்தில் சொல்லாதபடிக்கு, நான் எத்தனைதரம் உன்னை ஆணையிடுவிக்கவேண்டும் என்று சொன்னான்.

And the king said unto him, How many times shall I adjure thee that thou tell me nothing but that which is true in the name of the LORD?

அப்பொழுது அவன்: இஸ்ரவேலரெல்லாரும் மேய்ப்பன் இல்லாத ஆடுகளைப்போல மலைகளிலே சிதறப்பட்டதைக் கண்டேன்; அப்பொழுது கர்த்தர்: இவர்களுக்கு எஜமான் இல்லை; அவரவர் தம்தம் வீட்டிற்குச் சமாதானத்தோடே திரும்பக்கடவர்கள் என்றார் என்று சொன்னான்.

And he said, I saw all Israel scattered upon the hills, as sheep that have not a shepherd: and the LORD said, These have no master: let them return every man to his house in peace.

அப்பொழுது இஸ்ரவேலின் ராஜா யோசபாத்தை நோக்கி: இவன் என்னைக் குறித்து நன்மையாக அல்ல, தீமையாகவே தீர்க்கதரிசனம் சொல்லுகிறவன் என்று நான் உம்மோடே சொல்லவில்லையா என்றான்.

And the king of Israel said unto Jehoshaphat, Did I not tell thee that he would prophesy no good concerning me, but evil?

அப்பொழுது அவன் சொன்னது: கர்த்தருடைய வார்த்தையைக் கேளும்; கர்த்தர் தம்முடைய சிங்காசனத்தின் மேல் வீற்றிருக்கிறதையும், பரமசேனையெல்லாம் அவரிடம் அவர் வலது பக்கத்திலும் அவர் இடது பக்கத்திலும் நிற்கிறதையும் கண்டேன்.

And he said, Hear thou therefore the word of the LORD: I saw the LORD sitting on his throne, and all the host of heaven standing by him on his right hand and on his left.

அப்பொழுது கர்த்தர்: ஆகாப் போய், கீலேயாத்திலுள்ள ராமோத்தில் விழும்படிக்கு, அவனுக்குப் போதனை செய்கிறவன் யார் என்று கேட்டதற்கு, ஒருவன் இப்படியும் ஒருவன் அப்படியும் சொன்னார்கள்.

And the LORD said, Who shall persuade Ahab, that he may go up and fall at Ramothgilead? And one said on this manner, and another said on that manner.

அப்பொழுது ஒரு ஆவி புறப்பட்டு வந்து, கர்த்தருக்கு முன்பாக நின்று; நான் அவனுக்குப் போதனை செய்வேன் என்றது.

And there came forth a spirit, and stood before the LORD, and said, I will persuade him.

எதினால் என்று கர்த்தர் அதைக் கேட்டார். அப்பொழுது அது: நான் போய், அவனுடைய தீர்க்கதரிசிகள் எல்லாரின் வாயிலும் பொய்யின் ஆவியாய் இருப்பேன் என்றது. அதற்கு அவர்: நீ அவனுக்குப் போதனைசெய்து அப்படி நடக்கப்பண்ணுவாய்; போய் அப்படிச் செய் என்றார்.

And the LORD said unto him, Wherewith? And he said, I will go forth, and I will be a lying spirit in the mouth of all his prophets. And he said, Thou shalt persuade him, and prevail also: go forth, and do so.

ஆதலால் கர்த்தர் பொய்யின் ஆவியை இந்த உம்முடைய தீர்க்கதரிசிகளாகிய இவர்கள் எல்லாருடைய வாயிலும் கட்டளையிட்டார்; கர்த்தர் உம்மைக் குறித்துத் தீமையாகச் சொன்னார் என்றான்.

Now therefore, behold, the LORD hath put a lying spirit in the mouth of all these thy prophets, and the LORD hath spoken evil concerning thee.

அப்பொழுது கேனானாவின் குமாரனாகிய சிதேக்கியா கிட்டேவந்து, மிகாயாவைக் கன்னத்தில் அடித்து, கர்த்தருடைய ஆவி எந்த வழியாய் என்னை விட்டு உன்னோடே பேசும்படி வந்தது என்றான்.

But Zedekiah the son of Chenaanah went near, and smote Micaiah on the cheek, and said, Which way went the Spirit of the LORD from me to speak unto thee?

அதற்கு மிகாயா: நீ ஒளித்துக் கொள்ள உள்ளறையிலே பதுங்கும் அந்நாளிலே அதைக் காண்பாய் என்றான்.

And Micaiah said, Behold, thou shalt see in that day, when thou shalt go into an inner chamber to hide thyself.

அப்பொழுது இஸ்ரவேலின் ராஜா: மிகாயாவைப் பிடித்து, அவனைப் பட்டணத்துத் தலைவனாகிய ஆமோனிடத்திற்கும், ராஜாவின் குமாரனாகிய யோவாசிடத்திற்கும் திரும்பக் கொண்டுபோய்,

And the king of Israel said, Take Micaiah, and carry him back unto Amon the governor of the city, and to Joash the king's son;

இவனைச் சிறைச்சாலையிலே வைத்து, நான் சமாதானத்தோடே வருமளவும், இவனுக்கு இடுக்கத்தின் அப்பத்தையும் இடுக்கத்தின் தண்ணீரையும் சாப்பிடக் கொடுங்கள் என்று ராஜா சொன்னார் என்று சொல்லுங்கள் என்றான்.

And say, Thus saith the king, Put this fellow in the prison, and feed him with bread of affliction and with water of affliction, until I come in peace.

அப்பொழுது மிகாயா: நீர் சமாதானத்தோடே திரும்பி வருகிறது உண்டானால், கர்த்தர் என்னைக்கொண்டு பேசினதில்லை என்று சொல்லி; ஜனங்களே, நீங்கள் எல்லாரும் இதைக் கேளுங்கள் என்றான்.

And Micaiah said, If thou return at all in peace, the LORD hath not spoken by me. And he said, Hearken, O people, every one of you.

பின்பு இஸ்ரவேலின் ராஜாவும், யூதாவின் ராஜாவாகிய யோசபாத்தும் கீலேயாத்திலுள்ள ராமோத்துக்குப் போனார்கள்.

So the king of Israel and Jehoshaphat the king of Judah went up to Ramothgilead.

இஸ்ரவேலின் ராஜா யோசபாத்தை நோக்கி: நான் வேஷம்மாறி யுத்தத்தில் பிரவேசிப்பேன்; நீரோ ராஜவஸ்திரம் தரித்திரும் என்று சொல்லி, இஸ்ரவேலின் ராஜா வேஷம்மாறி, யுத்தத்தில் பிரவேசித்தான்.

And the king of Israel said unto Jehoshaphat, I will disguise myself, and enter into the battle; but put thou on thy robes. And the king of Israel disguised himself, and went into the battle.

சீரியாவின் ராஜா தனக்கு இருக்கிற இரதங்களின் முப்பதிரண்டு தலைவரையும் நோக்கி: நீங்கள் சிறியவரோடும் பெரியவரோடும் யுத்தம்பண்ணாமல் இஸ்ரவேலின் ராஜா ஒருவனோடே மாத்திரம் யுத்தம் பண்ணுங்கள் என்று கட்டளையிட்டிருந்தான்.

But the king of Syria commanded his thirty and two captains that had rule over his chariots, saying, Fight neither with small nor great, save only with the king of Israel.

ஆதலால் இரதங்களின் தலைவர் யோசபாத்தைக் காண்கையில், இவன்தான் இஸ்ரவேலின் ராஜா என்று சொல்லி யுத்தம்பண்ண அவனுக்கு நேராகச் சாய்ந்து வந்தார்கள்; அப்பொழுது யோசபாத் கூக்குரலிட்டான்.

And it came to pass, when the captains of the chariots saw Jehoshaphat, that they said, Surely it is the king of Israel. And they turned aside to fight against him: and Jehoshaphat cried out.

இவன் இஸ்ரவேலின் ராஜா அல்ல என்று இரதங்களின் தலைவர் கண்டு அவனைவிட்டு விலகிப்போனார்கள்.

And it came to pass, when the captains of the chariots perceived that it was not the king of Israel, that they turned back from pursuing him.

ஒருவன் நினையாமல் வில்லை நாணேற்றி எய்தான்; அது இஸ்ரவேலின் ராஜாவினுடைய கவசத்தின் சந்துகளுக்குள்பட்டது; அப்பொழுது அவன் தன் சாரதியைப் பார்த்து; நீ திருப்பி என்னை இராணுவத்துக்கப்பால் கொண்டுபோ; எனக்குக் காயம்பட்டது என்றான்.

And a certain man drew a bow at a venture, and smote the king of Israel between the joints of the harness: wherefore he said unto the driver of his chariot, Turn thine hand, and carry me out of the host; for I am wounded.

அன்றையதினம் யுத்தம் அதிகரித்தது; ராஜாவைச் சீரியருக்கு எதிராக இரதத்தில் நிறுத்திவைத்தார்கள்; சாயங்காலத்திலே அவன் இறந்து போனான்; காயத்தின் இரத்தம் இரதத்தின் தட்டிலே வடிந்தது.

And the battle increased that day: and the king was stayed up in his chariot against the Syrians, and died at even: and the blood ran out of the wound into the midst of the chariot.

பொழுதுபோகும்போது அவரவர் தம்தம் பட்டணத்திற்கும், அவரவர் தம்தம் தேசத்திற்கும், போகலாம் என்று இராணுவத்தில் பறைசாற்றப்பட்டது.

And there went a proclamation throughout the host about the going down of the sun, saying, Every man to his city, and every man to his own country.

அப்படியே ராஜா இறந்தபின்பு, சமாரியாவுக்குக் கொண்டுவரப்பட்டான்; ராஜாவைச் சமாரியாவில் அடக்கம்பண்ணினார்கள்.

So the king died, and was brought to Samaria; and they buried the king in Samaria.

அந்த இரதத்தையும் அவனுடைய கவசத்தையும் சமாரியாவின் குளத்திலே கழுவுகிறபோது கர்த்தர் சொல்லியிருந்த வார்த்தையின்படியே, நாய்கள் அவன் இரத்தத்தை நக்கினது.

And one washed the chariot in the pool of Samaria; and the dogs licked up his blood; and they washed his armour; according unto the word of the LORD which he spake.

Now the rest of the acts of Ahab, and all that he did, and the ivory house which he made, and all the cities that he built, are they not written in the book of the chronicles of the kings of Israel?

So Ahab slept with his fathers; and Ahaziah his son reigned in his stead.

And Jehoshaphat the son of Asa began to reign over Judah in the fourth year of Ahab king of Israel.

யோசபாத் ராஜாவாகிறபோது முப்பத்தைந்து வயதாயிருந்து, இருபத்தைந்து வருஷம் எருசலேமில் ராஜ்யபாரம்பண்ணினான்; சில்கியின் குமாரத்தியாகிய அவனுடைய தாயின்பேர் அசுபாள்.

Jehoshaphat was thirty and five years old when he began to reign; and he reigned twenty and five years in Jerusalem. And his mother's name was Azubah the daughter of Shilhi.

அவன் தன் தகப்பனாகிய ஆசாவின் வழிகளிலெல்லாம் நடந்தான்; அவன் அதை விட்டு விலகாமல் கர்த்தரின் பார்வைக்குச் செம்மையானதைச் செய்தான்; ஆகிலும் மேடைகள் தகர்க்கப்படவில்லை; ஜனங்கள் இன்னும் மேடைகளின்மேல் பலியிட்டுத் தூபங்காட்டிவந்தார்கள்.

And he walked in all the ways of Asa his father; he turned not aside from it, doing that which was right in the eyes of the LORD: nevertheless the high places were not taken away; for the people offered and burnt incense yet in the high places.

யோசபாத் இஸ்ரவேலின் ராஜாவோடே சமாதானமாயிருந்தான்.

And Jehoshaphat made peace with the king of Israel.

யோசபாத்தின் மற்ற வர்த்தமானங்களும், அவன் காட்டிய வல்லமையும், அவன் பண்ணினயுத்தமும், யூதாவுடைய ராஜாக்களின் நாளாகமப் புஸ்தகத்தில் அல்லவோ எழுதியிருக்கிறது.

Now the rest of the acts of Jehoshaphat, and his might that he shewed, and how he warred, are they not written in the book of the chronicles of the kings of Judah?

தன் தகப்பனாகிய ஆசாவின் நாட்களில் மீதியாய் விட்டிருந்த இலச்சையான புணர்ச்சிக்காரரையும் அவன் தேசத்திலிருந்து அற்றுப்போகப்பண்ணினான்.

And the remnant of the sodomites, which remained in the days of his father Asa, he took out of the land.

There was then no king in Edom: a deputy was king.

பொன்னுக்காக ஓப்பீருக்குப் போகும்படி, யோசபாத் தர்ஷீஸ் கப்பல்களைச் செய்தான்; ஆனால் அவைகள் போகவில்லை; அவைகள் எசியோன்கேபேரிலே உடைந்துபோயின.

Jehoshaphat made ships of Tharshish to go to Ophir for gold: but they went not; for the ships were broken at Eziongeber.

அப்பொழுது ஆகாபின் குமாரனாகிய அகசியா யோசபாத்தை நோக்கி: என் வேலைக்காரர் உம்முடைய வேலைக்காரரோடுங்கூடக் கப்பல்களிலே போகட்டும் என்றான்; அதற்கு யோசபாத் சம்மதிக்கவில்லை.

Then said Ahaziah the son of Ahab unto Jehoshaphat, Let my servants go with thy servants in the ships. But Jehoshaphat would not.

யோசபாத் தன் பிதாக்களோடே நித்திரையடைந்து, தாவீதின் நகரத்திலே தன் பிதாக்களோடே அடக்கம்பண்ணப்பட்டான்; அவன் குமாரனாகிய யோராம் அவன் ஸ்தானத்தில் ராஜாவானான்.

And Jehoshaphat slept with his fathers, and was buried with his fathers in the city of David his father: and Jehoram his son reigned in his stead.

ஆகாபின் குமாரனாகிய அகசியா யூதாவின் ராஜாவாகிய யோசபாத்தின் பதினேழாம் வருஷத்திலே சமாரியாவில் ராஜாவாகி, இஸ்ரவேலின்மேல் இரண்டு வருஷம் ராஜ்யபாரம்பண்ணி,

Ahaziah the son of Ahab began to reign over Israel in Samaria the seventeenth year of Jehoshaphat king of Judah, and reigned two years over Israel.

கர்த்தரின் பார்வைக்குப் பொல்லாப்பானதைத் செய்து, தன் தகப்பன் வழியிலும், தன் தாயின் வழியிலும், இஸ்ரவேலைப் பாவஞ்செய்யப்பண்ணின நேபாத்தின் குமாரன் யெரொபெயாமின் வழியிலும் நடந்து,

And he did evil in the sight of the LORD, and walked in the way of his father, and in the way of his mother, and in the way of Jeroboam the son of Nebat, who made Israel to sin:

பாகாலைச் சேவித்து, அவனைப் பணிந்துகொண்டு, தன் தகப்பன் செய்தபடியெல்லாம் இஸ்ரவேலின் தேவனாகிய கர்த்தருக்குக் கோபமுண்டாக்கினான்.

For he served Baal, and worshipped him, and provoked to anger the LORD God of Israel, according to all that his father had done.

1தெசலோனிக்கேயர் அத்தியாயம் 1

Paul, and Silvanus, and Timotheus, unto the church of the Thessalonians which is in God the Father and in the Lord Jesus Christ: Grace be unto you, and peace, from God our Father, and the Lord Jesus Christ.

So that ye were ensamples to all that believe in Macedonia and Achaia.

For from you sounded out the word of the Lord not only in Macedonia and Achaia, but also in every place your faith to God-ward is spread abroad; so that we need not to speak any thing.

And to wait for his Son from heaven, whom he raised from the dead, even Jesus, which delivered us from the wrath to come.

1தெசலோனிக்கேயர் அத்தியாயம் 2

For yourselves, brethren, know our entrance in unto you, that it was not in vain:

But even after that we had suffered before, and were shamefully entreated, as ye know, at Philippi, we were bold in our God to speak unto you the gospel of God with much contention.

For our exhortation was not of deceit, nor of uncleanness, nor in guile:

But as we were allowed of God to be put in trust with the gospel, even so we speak; not as pleasing men, but God, which trieth our hearts.

For neither at any time used we flattering words, as ye know, nor a cloke of covetousness; God is witness:

Nor of men sought we glory, neither of you, nor yet of others, when we might have been burdensome, as the apostles of Christ.

But we were gentle among you, even as a nurse cherisheth her children:

So being affectionately desirous of you, we were willing to have imparted unto you, not the gospel of God only, but also our own souls, because ye were dear unto us.

For ye remember, brethren, our labour and travail: for labouring night and day, because we would not be chargeable unto any of you, we preached unto you the gospel of God.

Ye are witnesses, and God also, how holily and justly and unblameably we behaved ourselves among you that believe:

As ye know how we exhorted and comforted and charged every one of you, as a father doth his children,

For this cause also thank we God without ceasing, because, when ye received the word of God which ye heard of us, ye received it not as the word of men, but as it is in truth, the word of God, which effectually worketh also in you that believe.

For ye, brethren, became followers of the churches of God which in Judaea are in Christ Jesus: for ye also have suffered like things of your own countrymen, even as they have of the Jews:

Who both killed the Lord Jesus, and their own prophets, and have persecuted us; and they please not God, and are contrary to all men:

புறஜாதியார் இரட்சிக்கப்படுவதற்கு நாங்கள் அவர்களோடே பேசாதபடிக்குத் தடைபண்ணுகிறார்கள்; இவ்விதமாய் எக்காலத்திலும் தங்கள் பாவங்களை நிறைவாக்குகிறார்கள்; அவர்கள்மேல் கோபாக்கினை பூரணமாய் வந்திருக்கிறது.

Forbidding us to speak to the Gentiles that they might be saved, to fill up their sins alway: for the wrath is come upon them to the uttermost.

சகோதரரே, நாங்கள் இருதயத்தின்படி உங்களோடிருந்து, சரீரத்தின்படி கொஞ்சக்காலம் உங்களைவிட்டுப் பிரிந்திருந்தபடியினாலே, உங்கள் முகத்தைப் பார்க்கவேண்டுமென்று மிகுந்த ஆசையோடே அதிகமாய்ப் பிரயத்தனம்பண்ணினோம்.

But we, brethren, being taken from you for a short time in presence, not in heart, endeavoured the more abundantly to see your face with great desire.

ஆகையால், நாங்கள் உங்களிடத்தில் வர இரண்டொருதரம் மனதாயிருந்தோம், பவுலாகிய நானே வர மனதாயிருந்தேன்; சாத்தானோ எங்களைத் தடைபண்ணினான்.

Wherefore we would have come unto you, even I Paul, once and again; but Satan hindered us.

எங்களுக்கு நம்பிக்கையும் சந்தோஷமும் மகிழ்ச்சியின் கிரீடமுமாயிருப்பவர்கள் யார்? நம்முடைய கர்த்தராகிய இயேசுகிறிஸ்து வரும்போது அவருடைய சந்நிதானத்திலே நீங்களல்லவா அப்படியிருப்பீர்கள்;

For what is our hope, or joy, or crown of rejoicing? Are not even ye in the presence of our Lord Jesus Christ at his coming?

நீங்களே எங்களுக்கு மகிமையும் சந்தோஷமுமாயிருக்கிறீர்கள்.

For ye are our glory and joy.

ஆகையால், நாங்கள் இனிப் பொறுத்திருக்கக்கூடாமல், அத்தேனே பட்டணத்தில் தனித்துவிடப்படுகிறது நன்மையென்று நினைத்து,

Wherefore when we could no longer forbear, we thought it good to be left at Athens alone;

இந்த உபத்திரவங்களினாலே ஒருவனும் அசைக்கப்படாதபடிக்கு உங்களைத் திடப்படுத்தவும், உங்கள் விசுவாசத்தைப்பற்றி உங்களுக்குப் புத்திசொல்லவும், நம்முடைய சகோதரனும் தேவ ஊழியக்காரனும் கிறிஸ்துவின் சுவிசேஷத்தில் எங்கள் உடன்வேலையாளுமாகிய தீமோத்தேயுவை அனுப்பினோம்.

And sent Timotheus, our brother, and minister of God, and our fellowlabourer in the gospel of Christ, to establish you, and to comfort you concerning your faith:

இப்படிப்பட்ட உபத்திரவங்களைச் சகிக்க நாம் நியமிக்கப்பட்டிருக்கிறோமென்று நீங்கள் அறிந்திருக்கிறீர்களே.

That no man should be moved by these afflictions: for yourselves know that we are appointed thereunto.

நமக்கு உபத்திரவம் வருமென்று நாங்கள் உங்களிடத்திலிருந்தபோது, உங்களுக்கு முன்னறிவித்தோம்; அப்படியே வந்து நேரிட்டதென்றும் அறிந்திருக்கிறீர்கள்.

For verily, when we were with you, we told you before that we should suffer tribulation; even as it came to pass, and ye know.

ஆகையால், நான் இனிப் பொறுத்திருக்கக்கூடாமல், எங்கள் வேலை வீணாய்ப்போகத்தக்கதாகச் சோதனைக்காரன் உங்களைச் சோதனைக்குட்படுத்தினதுண்டோவென்று, உங்கள் விசுவாசத்தை அறியும்படிக்கு, அவனை அனுப்பினேன்.

For this cause, when I could no longer forbear, I sent to know your faith, lest by some means the tempter have tempted you, and our labour be in vain.

இப்பொழுது தீமோத்தேயு உங்களிடத்திலிருந்து எங்களிடத்தில் வந்து, உங்கள் விசுவாசத்தையும் அன்பையும்குறித்தும், நீங்கள் எப்பொழுதும் எங்களைப் பட்சமாய் நினைத்துக்கொண்டு, நாங்கள் உங்களைக் காண வாஞ்சையாயிருக்கிறதுபோல நீங்களும் எங்களைக் காண வாஞ்சையாயிருக்கிறீர்களென்பதைக் குறித்தும், எங்களுக்கு நற்செய்தி சொன்னதினாலே,

But now when Timotheus came from you unto us, and brought us good tidings of your faith and charity, and that ye have good remembrance of us always, desiring greatly to see us, as we also to see you:

சகோதரரே, எங்களுக்கு நேரிட்ட எல்லா இக்கட்டிலும் உபத்திரவத்திலும் உங்கள் விசுவாசத்தினாலே உங்களைக் குறித்து ஆறுதலடைந்தோம்.

Therefore, brethren, we were comforted over you in all our affliction and distress by your faith:

நீங்கள் கர்த்தருக்குள் நிலைத்திருந்தால் நாங்கள் பிழைத்திருப்போம்.

For now we live, if ye stand fast in the Lord.

மேலும், நம்முடைய தேவனுக்கு முன்பாக நாங்கள் உங்களைக்குறித்து அடைந்திருக்கிற மிகுந்த சந்தோஷத்திற்காக, நாங்கள் தேவனுக்கு எவ்விதமாய் ஸ்தோத்திரம் செலுத்துவோம்?

For what thanks can we render to God again for you, for all the joy wherewith we joy for your sakes before our God;

உங்கள் முகத்தைக் கண்டு, உங்கள் விசுவாசத்தின் குறைவுகளை நிறைவாக்கும்பொருட்டு, இரவும் பகலும் மிகவும் வேண்டிக்கொள்ளுகிறோமே.

Night and day praying exceedingly that we might see your face, and might perfect that which is lacking in your faith?

நம்முடைய பிதாவாகிய தேவனும் நம்முடைய கர்த்தராகிய இயேசுகிறிஸ்துவும் உங்களிடத்திற்கு எங்களை நேராக வழிநடத்துவாராக.

Now God himself and our Father, and our Lord Jesus Christ, direct our way unto you.

நாங்கள் உங்களிடத்தில் வைத்திருக்கிற அன்புக்கொப்பாய், நீங்களும் ஒருவரிடத்தில் ஒருவர் வைக்கும் அன்பிலும் மற்றெல்லா மனுஷரிடத்தில் வைக்கும் அன்பிலும் கர்த்தர் உங்களைப் பெருகவும் நிலைத்தோங்கவும் செய்து,

And the Lord make you to increase and abound in love one toward another, and toward all men, even as we do toward you:

இவ்விதமாய் நம்முடைய கர்த்தராகிய இயேசுகிறிஸ்து தமது பரிசுத்தவான்கள் அனைவரோடுங்கூட வரும்போது, நீங்கள் நம்முடைய பிதாவாகிய தேவனுக்கு முன்பாகப் பிழையற்ற பரிசுத்தமுள்ளவர்களாயிருக்கும்படி உங்கள் இருதயங்களை ஸ்திரப்படுத்துவாராக.

To the end he may stablish your hearts unblameable in holiness before God, even our Father, at the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ with all his saints.
