1இராஜாக்கள் அத்தியாயம் 19

எலியா செய்த எல்லாவற்றையும், அவன் தீர்க்கதரிசிகளெல்லாரையும் பட்டயத்தாலே கொன்றுபோட்ட செய்தி அனைத்தையும், ஆகாப் யேசபேலுக்கு அறிவித்தான்.

And Ahab told Jezebel all that Elijah had done, and withal how he had slain all the prophets with the sword.

அப்பொழுது யேசபேல் எலியாவினிடத்தில் ஆள் அனுப்பி: அவர்களிலே ஒவ்வொருவனுடைய பிராணனுக்குச் செய்யப்பட்டதுபோல, நான் நாளை இந்நேரத்தில் உன் பிராணனுக்குச் செய்யாதேபோனால், தேவர்கள் அதற்குச் சரியாகவும் அதற்கு அதிகமாகவும் எனக்குச் செய்யக்கடவர்கள் என்று சொல்லச் சொன்னாள்.

Then Jezebel sent a messenger unto Elijah, saying, So let the gods do to me, and more also, if I make not thy life as the life of one of them by to morrow about this time.

அவனுக்கு அது தெரிந்தபோது எழுந்து, தன் பிராணனைக் காக்க யூதாவைச்சேர்ந்த பெயெர்செபாவுக்குப் புறப்பட்டுப்போய், தன் வேலைக்காரனை அங்கே நிறுத்திவிட்டான்.

And when he saw that, he arose, and went for his life, and came to Beersheba, which belongeth to Judah, and left his servant there.

But he himself went a day's journey into the wilderness, and came and sat down under a juniper tree: and he requested for himself that he might die; and said, It is enough; now, O LORD, take away my life; for I am not better than my fathers.

ஒரு சூரைச்செடியின்கீழ்ப் படுத்துக்கொண்டு நித்திரைபண்ணினான்; அப்பொழுது ஒரு தூதன் அவனைத் தட்டியெழுப்பி: எழுந்திருந்து போஜனம்பண்ணு என்றான்.

And as he lay and slept under a juniper tree, behold, then an angel touched him, and said unto him, Arise and eat.

அவன் விழித்துப் பார்க்கிறபோது, இதோ, தழலில் சுடப்பட்ட அடையும், ஒரு பாத்திரத்தில் தண்ணீரும் அவன் தலைமாட்டில் இருந்தது; அப்பொழுது அவன், புசித்துக் குடித்துத் திரும்பப் படுத்துக்கொண்டான்.

And he looked, and, behold, there was a cake baken on the coals, and a cruse of water at his head. And he did eat and drink, and laid him down again.

கர்த்தருடைய தூதன் திரும்ப இரண்டாந்தரம் வந்து அவனைத் தட்டியெழுப்பி: எழுந்திருந்து போஜனம்பண்ணு; நீ பண்ணவேண்டிய பிரயாணம் வெகுதூரம் என்றான்.

And the angel of the LORD came again the second time, and touched him, and said, Arise and eat; because the journey is too great for thee.

அப்பொழுது அவன் எழுந்திருந்து புசித்துக் குடித்து, அந்த போஜனத்தின் பலத்தினால் நாற்பது நாள் இரவு பகல் ஓரேப் என்னும் தேவனுடைய பர்வதமட்டும் நடந்து போனான்.

And he arose, and did eat and drink, and went in the strength of that meat forty days and forty nights unto Horeb the mount of God.

அங்கே அவன் ஒரு கெபிக்குள் போய்த் தங்கினான்; இதோ, கர்த்தருடைய வார்த்தை அவனுக்கு உண்டாகி, அவர்: எலியாவே, இங்கே உனக்கு என்ன காரியம் என்றார்.

And he came thither unto a cave, and lodged there; and, behold, the word of the LORD came to him, and he said unto him, What doest thou here, Elijah?

அதற்கு அவன்: சேனைகளின் தேவனாகிய கர்த்தருக்காக வெகு பக்திவைராக்கியமாயிருந்தேன்; இஸ்ரவேல் புத்திரர் உமது உடன்படிக்கையைத் தள்ளிவிட்டார்கள்; உம்முடைய பலிபீடங்களை இடித்து, உம்முடைய தீர்க்கதரிசிகளைப் பட்டயத்தினால் கொன்றுபோட்டார்கள்; நான் ஒருவன் மாத்திரம் மீதியாயிருக்கிறேன்; என் பிராணனையும் வாங்கத் தேடுகிறார்கள் என்றான்.

And he said, I have been very jealous for the LORD God of hosts: for the children of Israel have forsaken thy covenant, thrown down thine altars, and slain thy prophets with the sword; and I, even I only, am left; and they seek my life, to take it away.

அப்பொழுது அவர்: நீ வெளியே வந்து கர்த்தருக்கு முன்பாகப் பர்வதத்தில் நில் என்றார்; அப்பொழுது, இதோ, கர்த்தர் கடந்துபோனார்; கர்த்தருக்கு முன்பாகப் பர்வதங்களைப் பிளக்கிறதும் கன்மலைகளை உடைக்கிறதுமான பலத்த பெருங்காற்று உண்டாயிற்று; ஆனாலும் அந்தக் காற்றிலே கர்த்தர் இருக்கவில்லை; காற்றிற்குப்பின் பூமி அதிர்ச்சி உண்டாயிற்று; பூமி அதிர்ச்சியிலும் கர்த்தர் இருக்கவில்லை.

And he said, Go forth, and stand upon the mount before the LORD. And, behold, the LORD passed by, and a great and strong wind rent the mountains, and brake in pieces the rocks before the LORD; but the LORD was not in the wind: and after the wind an earthquake; but the LORD was not in the earthquake:

பூமி அதிர்ச்சிக்குப்பின் அக்கினி உண்டாயிற்று; அக்கினியிலும் கர்த்தர் இருக்கவில்லை; அக்கினிக்குப்பின் அமர்ந்த மெல்லிய சத்தம் உண்டாயிற்று.

And after the earthquake a fire; but the LORD was not in the fire: and after the fire a still small voice.

அதை எலியா கேட்டபோது, தன் சால்வையினால் தன் முகத்தை மூடிக்கொண்டு வெளியே வந்து, கெபியின் வாசலில் நின்றான். அப்பொழுது, இதோ, எலியாவே, இங்கே உனக்கு என்ன காரியம் என்கிற சத்தம் அவனுக்கு உண்டாயிற்று.

And it was so, when Elijah heard it, that he wrapped his face in his mantle, and went out, and stood in the entering in of the cave. And, behold, there came a voice unto him, and said, What doest thou here, Elijah?

And he said, I have been very jealous for the LORD God of hosts: because the children of Israel have forsaken thy covenant, thrown down thine altars, and slain thy prophets with the sword; and I, even I only, am left; and they seek my life, to take it away.

அப்பொழுது கர்த்தர் அவனைப் பார்த்து: நீ தமஸ்குவின் வழியாய் வனாந்தரத்திற்குத் திரும்பிப்போய், ஆசகேலைச் சீரியாவின்மேல் ராஜாவாக அபிஷேகம்பண்ணி,

And the LORD said unto him, Go, return on thy way to the wilderness of Damascus: and when thou comest, anoint Hazael to be king over Syria:

பின்பு நிம்சியின் குமாரனாகிய யெகூவை இஸ்ரவேலின்மேல் ராஜாவாக அபிஷேகம்பண்ணி, ஆபேல்மேகொலா ஊரானான சாப்பாத்தின் குமாரனாகிய எலிசாவை உன் ஸ்தானத்திலே தீர்க்கதரிசியாக அபிஷேகம்பண்ணு.

And Jehu the son of Nimshi shalt thou anoint to be king over Israel: and Elisha the son of Shaphat of Abelmeholah shalt thou anoint to be prophet in thy room.

சம்பவிப்பதாவது: ஆசகேலின் பட்டயத்திற்குத் தப்பினவனை யெகூ கொன்றுபோடுவான்; யெகூவின் பட்டயத்திற்குத் தப்பினவனை எலிசா கொன்றுபோடுவான்.

And it shall come to pass, that him that escapeth the sword of Hazael shall Jehu slay: and him that escapeth from the sword of Jehu shall Elisha slay.

ஆனாலும் பாகாலுக்கு முடங்காதிருக்கிற முழங்கால்களையும், அவனை முத்தஞ்செய்யாதிருக்கிற வாய்களையுமுடைய ஏழாயிரம்பேரை இஸ்ரவேலிலே மீதியாக வைத்திருக்கிறேன் என்றார்.

Yet I have left me seven thousand in Israel, all the knees which have not bowed unto Baal, and every mouth which hath not kissed him.

அப்படியே அவன் அவ்விடம் விட்டுப் புறப்பட்டுப்போய், பன்னிரண்டு ஏர்பூட்டி உழுத சாப்பாத்தின் குமாரனாகிய எலிசாவைக் கண்டான்; அவன் பன்னிரண்டாம் ஏரை ஓட்டிக்கொண்டிருந்தான்; எலியா அவன் இருக்கும் இடமட்டும் போய், அவன்மேல் தன் சால்வையைப் போட்டான்.

So he departed thence, and found Elisha the son of Shaphat, who was plowing with twelve yoke of oxen before him, and he with the twelfth: and Elijah passed by him, and cast his mantle upon him.

அப்பொழுது அவன் மாடுகளைவிட்டு, எலியாவின் பிறகே ஓடி: நான் என் தகப்பனையும் என் தாயையும் முத்தஞ்செய்ய உத்தரவு கொடும், அதற்குப்பின் உம்மைப் பின்தொடர்வேன் என்றான். அதற்கு அவன்: போய்த் திரும்பிவா; நான் உனக்குச் செய்ததை நினைத்துக்கொள் என்றான்.

And he left the oxen, and ran after Elijah, and said, Let me, I pray thee, kiss my father and my mother, and then I will follow thee. And he said unto him, Go back again: for what have I done to thee?

அப்பொழுது அவன் இவனை விட்டுப் போய், ஒரு ஏர் மாடுகளைப் பிடித்து அடித்து, ஏரின் மரமுட்டுகளால் அவைகளின் இறைச்சியைச் சமைத்து ஜனங்களுக்குக் கொடுத்தான்; அவர்கள் சாப்பிட்டபிற்பாடு, அவன் எழுந்து, எலியாவுக்குப் பின்சென்று அவனுக்கு ஊழியஞ்செய்தான்.

And he returned back from him, and took a yoke of oxen, and slew them, and boiled their flesh with the instruments of the oxen, and gave unto the people, and they did eat. Then he arose, and went after Elijah, and ministered unto him.

சீரியாவின் ராஜாவாகிய பெனாதாத் தன் சேனையையெல்லாம் கூட்டிக்கொண்டுபோய், சமாரியாவை முற்றிக்கைபோட்டு அதின்மேல் யுத்தம்பண்ணினான்; அவனோடேகூட முப்பதிரண்டு ராஜாக்கள் இருந்ததுமல்லாமல், குதிரைகளும் இரதங்களும் இருந்தது.

And Benhadad the king of Syria gathered all his host together: and there were thirty and two kings with him, and horses, and chariots: and he went up and besieged Samaria, and warred against it.

அவன் நகரத்திற்குள் இஸ்ரவேலின் ராஜாவாகிய ஆகாபிடத்தில் ஸ்தானாபதிகளை அனுப்பி:

And he sent messengers to Ahab king of Israel into the city, and said unto him, Thus saith Benhadad,

உன்னுடைய வெள்ளியும் உன்னுடைய பொன்னும் என்னுடையது; உன்னுடைய ஸ்திரீகளும் உன்னுடைய குமாரருக்குள் சமர்த்தராயிருக்கிறவர்களும் என்னுடையவர்கள் என்று பெனாதாத் சொல்லுகிறான் என்று அவனுக்குச் சொல்லச்சொன்னான்.

Thy silver and thy gold is mine; thy wives also and thy children, even the goodliest, are mine.

இஸ்ரவேலின் ராஜா அதற்குப் பிரதியுத்தரமாக: ராஜாவாகிய என் ஆண்டவனே, உம்முடைய வார்த்தையின்படியே, நானும் எனக்கு உண்டான யாவும் உம்முடையவைகள்தான் என்று சொல்லியனுப்பினான்.

And the king of Israel answered and said, My lord, O king, according to thy saying, I am thine, and all that I have.

அந்த ஸ்தானாபதிகள் திரும்பவும் வந்து: பெனாதாத் சொல்லுகிறது என்னவென்றால், உன் வெள்ளியையும், உன் பொன்னையும், உன் ஸ்திரீகளையும், உன் குமாரர்களையும் நீ எனக்குக் கொடுக்கவேண்டும் என்று உமக்குச் சொல்லியனுப்பினேனே.

And the messengers came again, and said, Thus speaketh Benhadad, saying, Although I have sent unto thee, saying, Thou shalt deliver me thy silver, and thy gold, and thy wives, and thy children;

ஆனாலும் நாளை இந்நேரத்தில் என் ஊழியக்காரரை உன்னிடத்தில் அனுப்புவேன்; அவர்கள் உன் வீட்டையும் உன் ஊழியக்காரரின் வீடுகளையும் சோதித்து, உன் கண்ணுக்குப் பிரியமானவைகள் எல்லாவற்றையும் தங்கள் கைகளில் எடுத்துக்கொண்டு போவார்கள் என்றார் என்று சொன்னார்கள்.

Yet I will send my servants unto thee to morrow about this time, and they shall search thine house, and the houses of thy servants; and it shall be, that whatsoever is pleasant in thine eyes, they shall put it in their hand, and take it away.

அப்பொழுது இஸ்ரவேலின் ராஜா, தேசத்தின் மூப்பரையெல்லாம் அழைப்பித்து: இவன் பொல்லாப்புத் தேடுகிற விதத்தைக் கவனித்துப் பாருங்கள்; என் ஸ்திரீகளையும், என் குமாரர்களையும், என் வெள்ளியையும், என் பொன்னையும் கேட்க, இவன் என்னிடத்தில் ஆள் அனுப்பினபோது, நான் கொடுக்கமாட்டேன் என்று இவனுக்கு மறுக்கவில்லையே என்றான்.

Then the king of Israel called all the elders of the land, and said, Mark, I pray you, and see how this man seeketh mischief: for he sent unto me for my wives, and for my children, and for my silver, and for my gold; and I denied him not.

அப்பொழுது சகல மூப்பரும் சகல ஜனங்களும் அவனைப் பார்த்து: நீர் அவனுக்குச் செவிகொடுக்கவும், அவனுக்குச் சம்மதிக்கவும் வேண்டாம் என்றார்கள்.

And all the elders and all the people said unto him, Hearken not unto him, nor consent.

அதினால் அவன் பெனாதாத்தின் ஸ்தானாபதிகளை நோக்கி: நீங்கள் ராஜாவாகிய என் ஆண்டவனுக்குச் சொல்ல வேண்டியது என்னவென்றால், நீர் முதல் விசை உமது அடியானுக்குச் சொல்லியனுப்பின யாவும் செய்வேன்; இந்தக் காரியத்தையோ நான் செய்யக்கூடாது என்று சொல்லுங்கள் என்றான்; ஸ்தானாபதிகள் போய், இந்த மறுமொழியை அவனுக்குச் சொன்னார்கள்.

Wherefore he said unto the messengers of Benhadad, Tell my lord the king, All that thou didst send for to thy servant at the first I will do: but this thing I may not do. And the messengers departed, and brought him word again.

அப்பொழுது பெனாதாத் அவனிடத்தில் ஆள் அனுப்பி: எனக்குப் பின் செல்லுகிற ஜனங்கள் எல்லாரும் கைக்கு ஒரு பிடியாவது வாரிக்கொள்ள சமாரியாவின் தூள் போதுமானதாயிருந்தால், தேவர்கள் அதற்குச் சரியாகவும் அதற்கு அதிகமாகவும் எனக்குச் செய்யக்கடவர்கள் என்று சொல்லச்சொன்னான்.

And Benhadad sent unto him, and said, The gods do so unto me, and more also, if the dust of Samaria shall suffice for handfuls for all the people that follow me.

அதற்கு இஸ்ரவேலின் ராஜா பிரதியுத்தரமாக; ஆயுதம் தரித்திருக்கிறவன், ஆயுதம் உரிந்து போடுகிறவனைப்போலப் பெருமைபாராட்டலாகாது என்று அவனுக்குச் சொல்லுங்கள் என்றான்.

And the king of Israel answered and said, Tell him, Let not him that girdeth on his harness boast himself as he that putteth it off.

பெனாதாத்தும், மற்ற ராஜாக்களும் கூடாரங்களிலே குடித்துக்கொண்டிருக்கையில், இந்த வார்த்தையைக் கேட்டு, தன் ஊழியக்காரரை நோக்கி: ஆயத்தம்பண்ணுங்கள் என்றான்; அப்படியே நகரத்தின்மேல் சண்டைசெய்ய ஆயத்தம்பண்ணினார்கள்.

And it came to pass, when Benhadad heard this message, as he was drinking, he and the kings in the pavilions, that he said unto his servants, Set yourselves in array. And they set themselves in array against the city.

அப்பொழுது ஒரு தீர்க்கதரிசி இஸ்ரவேலின் ராஜாவாகிய ஆகாபிடத்தில் வந்து: அந்த ஏராளமான ஜனக்கூட்டத்தையெல்லாம் கண்டாயா? இதோ, நானே கர்த்தர் என்று நீ அறியும்படி இன்றைக்கு அதை உன் கையில் ஒப்புக்கொடுப்பேன் என்று கர்த்தர் சொல்லுகிறார் என்றான்.

And, behold, there came a prophet unto Ahab king of Israel, saying, Thus saith the LORD, Hast thou seen all this great multitude? behold, I will deliver it into thine hand this day; and thou shalt know that I am the LORD.

யாரைக்கொண்டு என்று ஆகாப் கேட்டான்; அதற்கு அவன்: மாகாணங்களுடைய அதிபதிகளின் சேவகரைக்கொண்டு என்று கர்த்தர் சொல்லுகிறார் என்றான்; பின்பு அவன், யுத்தத்தை யார் துவக்கவேண்டும் என்று கேட்டதற்கு; அவன், நீர்தான் என்றான்.

And Ahab said, By whom? And he said, Thus saith the LORD, Even by the young men of the princes of the provinces. Then he said, Who shall order the battle? And he answered, Thou.

அவன் மாகாணங்களுடைய அதிபதிகளின் சேவகரை இலக்கம் பார்த்தான், அவர்கள் இருநூற்று முப்பதிரண்டுபேர்; அவர்களுப்பின்பு, இஸ்ரவேல் புத்திரராகிய சகல ஜனத்தின் இலக்கமும் பார்த்து ஏழாயிரம்பேர் என்று கண்டான்.

Then he numbered the young men of the princes of the provinces, and they were two hundred and thirty two: and after them he numbered all the people, even all the children of Israel, being seven thousand.

அவர்கள் மத்தியான வேளையிலே வெளியே புறப்பட்டார்கள்; பெனாதாத்தும், அவனுக்கு உதவியாக வந்த முப்பத்திரண்டு ராஜாக்களாகிய மற்ற ராஜாக்களும், கூடாரங்களில் குடித்து வெறி கொண்டிருந்தார்கள்.

And they went out at noon. But Benhadad was drinking himself drunk in the pavilions, he and the kings, the thirty and two kings that helped him.

மாகாணங்களுடைய அதிபதிகளின் சேவகர் முன்தண்டாகப் புறப்படுகிறபோது, பெனாதாத் அனுப்பின மனுஷர்: சமாரியாவிலிருந்து மனுஷர் புறப்பட்டு வருகிறார்கள் என்று அவனுக்கு அறிவித்தார்கள்.

And the young men of the princes of the provinces went out first; and Benhadad sent out, and they told him, saying, There are men come out of Samaria.

அப்பொழுது அவன்: அவர்கள் சமாதானத்திற்காகப் புறப்பட்டு வந்தாலும் அவர்களை உயிரோடே பிடியுங்கள்; அவர்கள் யுத்தத்திற்காகப் புறப்பட்டு வந்தாலும் அவர்களை உயிரோடே பிடியுங்கள் என்றான்.

And he said, Whether they be come out for peace, take them alive; or whether they be come out for war, take them alive.

மாகாணங்களுடைய அதிபதிகளின் சேவகரான அவர்களும், அவர்கள் பின்னே வருகிற இராணுவமும், நகரத்திலிருந்து வெளியே வந்தபோது,

So these young men of the princes of the provinces came out of the city, and the army which followed them.

அவர்கள் அவரவர் தங்களுக்கு எதிர்ப்படுகிறவர்களை வெட்டினார்கள்; சீரியர் முறிந்தோடி போனார்கள்; இஸ்ரவேலர் அவர்களைத் துரத்தினார்கள்; சீரியாவின் ராஜாவாகிய பெனாதாத், குதிரையின் மேல் ஏறிச் சில குதிரை வீரரோடுங்கூடத் தப்பியோடிப்போனான்.

And they slew every one his man: and the Syrians fled; and Israel pursued them: and Benhadad the king of Syria escaped on an horse with the horsemen.

இஸ்ரவேலின் ராஜா புறப்பட்டு, குதிரைகளையும், இரதங்களையும் முறிய அடித்து, சீரியரில் மகா சங்காரம் உண்டாக வெட்டினான்.

And the king of Israel went out, and smote the horses and chariots, and slew the Syrians with a great slaughter.

பின்பு அந்தத் தீர்க்கதரிசி இஸ்ரவேலின் ராஜாவினிடத்தில் வந்து, அவனை நோக்கி: நீர் போய் உம்மைப் பலப்படுத்திக்கொண்டு, நீர் செய்யத்தக்கது இன்னதென்று கவனித்துப்பாரும்; மறுவருஷத்திலே சீரியாவின் ராஜா உமக்கு விரோதமாக வருவான் என்றான்.

And the prophet came to the king of Israel, and said unto him, Go, strengthen thyself, and mark, and see what thou doest: for at the return of the year the king of Syria will come up against thee.

சீரியாவின் ராஜாவுடைய ஊழியக்காரர் அவனைப் பார்த்து: அவர்களுடைய தேவர்கள் மலைத்தேவர்கள், அதினால் அவர்கள் நம்மை மேற்கொண்டார்கள்; நாம் அவர்களோடே சமபூமியிலே யுத்தம்பண்ணினால் நல்லது; அப்பொழுது அவர்களை மேற்கொள்வது நிச்சயம்.

And the servants of the king of Syria said unto him, Their gods are gods of the hills; therefore they were stronger than we; but let us fight against them in the plain, and surely we shall be stronger than they.

அதற்காக நீர் செய்யவேண்டியது என்னவென்றால், இந்த ராஜாக்கள் ஒவ்வொருவரையும் தங்கள் ஸ்தலத்திலிருந்து மாற்றி, அவர்களுக்குப் பதிலாகச் சேனாபதிகளை ஏற்படுத்தி;

And do this thing, Take the kings away, every man out of his place, and put captains in their rooms:

நீர் மடியக்கொடுத்த சேனைக்குச் சரியாய்ச் சேனையையும், அந்தக் குதிரைகளுக்குச் சரியாய்க் குதிரைகளையும், இரதங்களுக்குச் சரியாய் இரதங்களையும் இலக்கம் பார்த்துக்கொள்ளும்; பிற்பாடு சமபூமியிலே நாம் அவர்களோடு யுத்தம்பண்ணி, நிச்சயமாய் அவர்களை மேற்கொள்வோம் என்றார்கள்; அவன் அவர்கள் சொற்கேட்டு அப்படியே செய்தான்.

And number thee an army, like the army that thou hast lost, horse for horse, and chariot for chariot: and we will fight against them in the plain, and surely we shall be stronger than they. And he hearkened unto their voice, and did so.

மறுவருஷத்திலே பெனாதாத் சீரியரை இலக்கம்பார்த்து, இஸ்ரவேலோடு யுத்தம்பண்ண ஆப்பெக்குக்கு வந்தான்.

And it came to pass at the return of the year, that Benhadad numbered the Syrians, and went up to Aphek, to fight against Israel.

இஸ்ரவேல் புத்திரரும் இலக்கம் பார்க்கப்பட்டு, தேவையானதைச் சம்பாதித்துக்கொண்டு, அவர்களை எதிர்க்கப்புறப்பட்டு, அவர்களுக்கு எதிரே இரண்டு சிறிய வெள்ளாட்டுக் கிடைகளைப்போலப் பாளயமிறங்கினார்கள்; தேசம் சீரியரால் நிறைந்திருந்தது.

And the children of Israel were numbered, and were all present, and went against them: and the children of Israel pitched before them like two little flocks of kids; but the Syrians filled the country.

அப்பொழுது தேவனுடைய மனுஷன் ஒருவன் வந்து, இஸ்ரவேலின் ராஜாவைப் பார்த்து: கர்த்தர் பள்ளத்தாக்குகளின் தேவனாயிராமல், மலைகளின் தேவனாயிருக்கிறார் என்று சீரியர் சொல்லியிருக்கிறபடியினால், நான் இந்த ஏராளமான ஜனக்கூட்டத்தையெல்லாம் உன் கையில் ஒப்புக்கொடுத்தேன்; அதினால் நானே கர்த்தர் என்று நீங்கள் அறிவீர்கள் என்று கர்த்தர் சொல்லுகிறார் என்றான்.

And there came a man of God, and spake unto the king of Israel, and said, Thus saith the LORD, Because the Syrians have said, The LORD is God of the hills, but he is not God of the valleys, therefore will I deliver all this great multitude into thine hand, and ye shall know that I am the LORD.

ஏழுநாளளவும் அவர்கள் முகமுகமாய்ப் பாளயமிறங்கியிருந்தார்கள்; ஏழாம் நாளில் யுத்தம் கலந்து, இஸ்ரவேல் புத்திரர் ஒரே நாளிலே சீரியரில் இலட்சம் காலாட்களை மடங்கடித்தார்கள்.

And they pitched one over against the other seven days. And so it was, that in the seventh day the battle was joined: and the children of Israel slew of the Syrians an hundred thousand footmen in one day.

மீதியானவர்கள் ஆப்பெக் பட்டணத்திற்குள் ஓடிப்போனார்கள்; அங்கே மீதியாயிருந்த இருபத்தேழாயிரம்பேரின்மேல் அலங்கம் இடிந்து விழுந்தது; பெனாதாத்தும் ஓடிப்போய் நகரத்திற்குள் புகுந்து, உள்ளறையிலே பதுங்கினான்.

But the rest fled to Aphek, into the city; and there a wall fell upon twenty and seven thousand of the men that were left. And Benhadad fled, and came into the city, into an inner chamber.

அப்பொழுது அவன் ஊழியக்காரர் அவனை நோக்கி: இதோ, இஸ்ரவேல் வம்சத்து ராஜாக்கள் தயவுள்ள ராஜாக்கள் என்று கேட்டிருக்கிறோம்; நாங்கள் இரட்டுகளை எங்கள் அரைகளில் கட்டி, கயிறுகளை எங்கள் தலைகளில் சுற்றிக்கொண்டு, இஸ்ரவேலின் ராஜாவினிடத்தில் போவோம்; ஒருவேளை உம்மை உயிரோடே வைப்பார் என்று சொல்லி,

And his servants said unto him, Behold now, we have heard that the kings of the house of Israel are merciful kings: let us, I pray thee, put sackcloth on our loins, and ropes upon our heads, and go out to the king of Israel: peradventure he will save thy life.

இரட்டைத் தங்கள் அரைகளில் கட்டி, கயிறுகளைத் தங்கள் தலைகளில் சுற்றிக்கொண்டு, இஸ்ரவேலின் ராஜாவினிடத்தில் வந்து: என்னை உயிரோடே வையும் என்று உமது அடியானாகிய பெனாதாத் விண்ணப்பம்பண்ணுகிறான் என்றார்கள். அதற்கு அவன், இன்னும் அவன் உயிரோடே இருக்கிறானா, அவன் என் சகோதரன் என்றான்.

So they girded sackcloth on their loins, and put ropes on their heads, and came to the king of Israel, and said, Thy servant Benhadad saith, I pray thee, let me live. And he said, Is he yet alive? he is my brother.

அந்த மனுஷர் நன்றாய்க் கவனித்து, அவன் வாயின் சொல்லை உடனே பிடித்து: உமது சகோதரனாகிய பெனாதாத் இருக்கிறான் என்றார்கள்; அப்பொழுது அவன்: நீங்கள் போய், அவனை அழைத்துக்கொண்டு வாருங்கள் என்றான்; பெனாதாத் அவனிடத்தில் வந்தபோது, அவனைத் தன் இரதத்தில் ஏற்றிக்கொண்டான்.

Now the men did diligently observe whether any thing would come from him, and did hastily catch it: and they said, Thy brother Benhadad. Then he said, Go ye, bring him. Then Benhadad came forth to him; and he caused him to come up into the chariot.

அப்பொழுது பெனாதாத் இவனைப்பார்த்து: என் தகப்பன் உம்முடைய தகப்பனார் கையிலே பிடித்த பட்டணங்களைத் திரும்பக் கொடுத்துவிடுகிறேன்; என் தகப்பன் சமாரியாவிலே செய்ததுபோல, நீரும் தமஸ்குவிலே வீதிகளை உண்டாக்கிக்கொள்ளலாம் என்றான். அதற்கு அவன், இந்த உடன்படிக்கை செய்து நான் உம்மை அனுப்பிவிடுகிறேன் என்று சொல்லி, அவனோடு உடன்படிக்கைபண்ணி அவனை அனுப்பிவிட்டான்.

And Benhadad said unto him, The cities, which my father took from thy father, I will restore; and thou shalt make streets for thee in Damascus, as my father made in Samaria. Then said Ahab, I will send thee away with this covenant. So he made a covenant with him, and sent him away.

அப்பொழுது தீர்க்கதரிசிகளின் புத்திரரில் ஒருவன் கர்த்தருடைய வார்த்தையின்படி தன் தோழனை நோக்கி: நீ என்னை அடி என்றான்; அந்த மனுஷன் அவனைப்பார்த்து அடிக்கமாட்டேன் என்றான்.

And a certain man of the sons of the prophets said unto his neighbour in the word of the LORD, Smite me, I pray thee. And the man refused to smite him.

அப்பொழுது அவன் இவனைப் பார்த்து: நீ கர்த்தருடைய சத்தத்திற்குக் கீழ்ப்படியாமற் போனபடியால், இதோ, நீ என்னைவிட்டுப் புறப்பட்டுப் போனவுடனே ஒரு சிங்கம் உன்னைக் கொல்லும் என்றான்; அப்படியே இவன் அவனைவிட்டுப் புறப்பட்டவுடனே, ஒரு சிங்கம் இவனைக் கண்டு கொன்றுபோட்டது.

Then said he unto him, Because thou hast not obeyed the voice of the LORD, behold, as soon as thou art departed from me, a lion shall slay thee. And as soon as he was departed from him, a lion found him, and slew him.

அதின்பின் அவன் வேறொருவனைக் கண்டு: என்னை அடி என்றான்; அந்த மனுஷன், அவனைக் காயமுண்டாக அடித்தான்.

Then he found another man, and said, Smite me, I pray thee. And the man smote him, so that in smiting he wounded him.

அப்பொழுது அந்தத் தீர்க்கதரிசி போய், தன் முகத்தின்மேல் சாம்பலைப் போட்டு, வேஷமாறினவனாய் வழியிலே ராஜாவுக்காகக் காத்திருந்தான்.

So the prophet departed, and waited for the king by the way, and disguised himself with ashes upon his face.

ராஜா அவ்வழியாய் வருகிறபோது, இவன் ராஜாவைப் பார்த்துக் கூப்பிட்டு: உமது அடியான் யுத்தத்தில் நின்றபோது, ஒருவன் விலகி, என்னிடத்தில் ஒருவனைக் கொண்டுவந்து, இந்த மனுஷனைப் பத்திரம்பண்ணு; இவன் தப்பிப்போனால் உன் பிராணன் அவன் பிராணனுக்கு ஈடாயிருக்கும், அல்லது ஒரு தாலந்து வெள்ளியை நீ கொடுக்கவேண்டும் என்றான்.

And as the king passed by, he cried unto the king: and he said, Thy servant went out into the midst of the battle; and, behold, a man turned aside, and brought a man unto me, and said, Keep this man: if by any means he be missing, then shall thy life be for his life, or else thou shalt pay a talent of silver.

ஆனாலும் உமது அடியான் இங்கும் அங்கும் அலுவலாயிருக்கும்போது, அவன் போய்விட்டான் என்றான். இஸ்ரவேலின் ராஜா அவனைப் பார்த்து: நீ சொன்ன தீர்ப்பின்படியே ஆகும் என்றான்.

And as thy servant was busy here and there, he was gone. And the king of Israel said unto him, So shall thy judgment be; thyself hast decided it.

அப்பொழுது அவன் சீக்கிரமாய்த் தன் முகத்தின் மேலிருக்கும் சாம்பலைத் துடைத்துவிட்டதினால், இஸ்ரவேலின் ராஜா அவன் தீர்க்கதரிசிகளில் ஒருவன் என்று அறிந்துகொண்டான்.

And he hasted, and took the ashes away from his face; and the king of Israel discerned him that he was of the prophets.

அப்பொழுது இவன் அவனை நோக்கி: சங்காரத்திற்கு நான் நியமித்த மனுஷனை உன் கையிலிருந்து தப்பிப்போகும்படி நீ விட்டபடியினால், உன் பிராணன் அவன் பிராணனுக்கு ஈடாகவும், உன் ஜனம் அவன் ஜனத்திற்கு ஈடாகவும் இருக்கும் என்று கர்த்தர் சொல்லுகிறார் என்றான்.

And he said unto him, Thus saith the LORD, Because thou hast let go out of thy hand a man whom I appointed to utter destruction, therefore thy life shall go for his life, and thy people for his people.

அதினால் இஸ்ரவேலின் ராஜா சலிப்பும் விசனமுமாய்த் தன் வீட்டிற்குப் போகப்புறப்பட்டுச் சமாரியாவுக்கு வந்தான்.

And the king of Israel went to his house heavy and displeased, and came to Samaria.

கொலோசேயர் அத்தியாயம் 3

நீங்கள் கிறிஸ்துவுடன்கூட எழுந்ததுண்டானால், கிறிஸ்து தேவனுடைய வலதுபாரிசத்தில் வீற்றிருக்கும் இடத்திலுள்ள மேலானவைகளைத் தேடுங்கள்.

If ye then be risen with Christ, seek those things which are above, where Christ sitteth on the right hand of God.

பூமியிலுள்ளவைகளையல்ல, மேலானவைகளையே நாடுங்கள்.

Set your affection on things above, not on things on the earth.

ஏனென்றால், நீங்கள் மரித்தீர்கள், உங்கள் ஜீவன் கிறிஸ்துவுடனே தேவனுக்குள் மறைந்திருக்கிறது.

For ye are dead, and your life is hid with Christ in God.

நம்முடைய ஜீவனாகிய கிறிஸ்து வெளிப்படும்போது, நீங்களும் அவரோடேகூட மகிமையிலே வெளிப்படுவீர்கள்.

When Christ, who is our life, shall appear, then shall ye also appear with him in glory.

ஆகையால், விபசாரம், அசுத்தம், மோகம், துர்யிச்சை, விக்கிரகாராதனையான பொருளாசை ஆகிய இவைகளைப் பூமியில் உண்டுபண்ணுகிற உங்கள் அவயவங்களை அழித்துப்போடுங்கள்.

Mortify therefore your members which are upon the earth; fornication, uncleanness, inordinate affection, evil concupiscence, and covetousness, which is idolatry:

இவைகளின்பொருட்டே கீழ்ப்படியாமையின் பிள்ளைகள்மேல் தேவகோபாக்கினை வரும்.

For which things' sake the wrath of God cometh on the children of disobedience:

நீங்களும் முற்காலத்தில் அவர்களுக்குள்ளே சஞ்சரித்தபோது, அவைகளைச் செய்துகொண்டுவந்தீர்கள்.

In the which ye also walked some time, when ye lived in them.

இப்பொழுதோ கோபமும் மூர்க்கமும் பொறாமையும், உங்கள் வாயில் பிறக்கலாகாத தூஷணமும் வம்புவார்த்தைகளுமாகிய இவைகளையெல்லாம் விட்டுவிடுங்கள்.

But now ye also put off all these; anger, wrath, malice, blasphemy, filthy communication out of your mouth.

ஒருவருக்கொருவர் பொய் சொல்லாதிருங்கள்; பழைய மனுஷனையும் அவன் செய்கைகளையும் களைந்துபோட்டு,

Lie not one to another, seeing that ye have put off the old man with his deeds;

தன்னைச் சிருஷ்டித்தவருடைய சாயலுக்கொப்பாய்ப் பூரண அறிவடையும்படி புதிதாக்கப்பட்ட புதிய மனுஷனைத் தரித்துக்கொண்டிருக்கிறீர்களே.

And have put on the new man, which is renewed in knowledge after the image of him that created him:

அதிலே கிரேக்கனென்றும் யூதனென்றுமில்லை, விருத்தசேதனமுள்ளவனென்றும், விருத்தசேதனமில்லாதவனென்றுமில்லை, புறஜாதியானென்றும் புறதேசத்தானென்றுமில்லை, அடிமையென்றும் சுயாதீனனென்றுமில்லை; கிறிஸ்துவே எல்லாரிலும் எல்லாமுமாயிருக்கிறார்.

Where there is neither Greek nor Jew, circumcision nor uncircumcision, Barbarian, Scythian, bond nor free: but Christ is all, and in all.

ஆகையால், நீங்கள் தேவனால் தெரிந்துகொள்ளப்பட்ட பரிசுத்தரும் பிரியருமாய், உருக்கமான இரக்கத்தையும், தயவையும், மனத்தாழ்மையையும், சாந்தத்தையும், நீடிய பொறுமையையும் தரித்துக்கொண்டு;

Put on therefore, as the elect of God, holy and beloved, bowels of mercies, kindness, humbleness of mind, meekness, longsuffering;

ஒருவரையொருவர் தாங்கி, ஒருவர் பேரில் ஒருவருக்குக் குறைபாடு உண்டானால், கிறிஸ்து உங்களுக்கு மன்னித்ததுபோல, ஒருவருக்கொருவர் மன்னியுங்கள்.

Forbearing one another, and forgiving one another, if any man have a quarrel against any: even as Christ forgave you, so also do ye.

இவை எல்லாவற்றின்மேலும், பூரணசற்குணத்தின் கட்டாகிய அன்பைத் தரித்துக்கொள்ளுங்கள்.

And above all these things put on charity, which is the bond of perfectness.

தேவசமாதானம் உங்கள் இருதயங்களில் ஆளக்கடவது, இதற்கென்றே நீங்கள் ஒரே சரீரமாக அழைக்கப்பட்டீர்கள்; நன்றியறிதலுள்ளவர்களாயுமிருங்கள்.

And let the peace of God rule in your hearts, to the which also ye are called in one body; and be ye thankful.

கிறிஸ்துவின் வசனம் உங்களுக்குள்ளே சகல ஞானத்தோடும் பரிபூரணமாக வாசமாயிருப்பதாக; சங்கீதங்களினாலும் கீர்த்தனைகளினாலும் ஞானப்பாட்டுகளினாலும் ஒருவருக்கொருவர் போதித்து புத்திசொல்லிக்கொண்டு, உங்கள் இருதயத்திலே கர்த்தரைப் பக்தியுடன் பாடி;

Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly in all wisdom; teaching and admonishing one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing with grace in your hearts to the Lord.

வார்த்தையினாலாவது கிரியையினாலாவது, நீங்கள் எதைச் செய்தாலும், அதையெல்லாம் கர்த்தராகிய இயேசுவின் நாமத்தினாலே செய்து, அவர் முன்னிலையாகப் பிதாவாகிய தேவனை ஸ்தோத்திரியுங்கள்.

And whatsoever ye do in word or deed, do all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God and the Father by him.

மனைவிகளே, கர்த்தருக்கேற்கும்படி உங்கள் புருஷருக்குக் கீழ்ப்படியுங்கள்.

Wives, submit yourselves unto your own husbands, as it is fit in the Lord.

புருஷர்களே, உங்கள் மனைவிகளில் அன்புகூருங்கள், அவர்கள்மேல் கசந்துகொள்ளாதிருங்கள்.

Husbands, love your wives, and be not bitter against them.

பிள்ளைகளே, உங்களைப் பெற்றாருக்கு எல்லாக்காரியத்திலேயும் கீழ்ப்படியுங்கள்; இது கர்த்தருக்குப் பிரியமானது.

Children, obey your parents in all things: for this is well pleasing unto the Lord.

பிதாக்களே, உங்கள் பிள்ளைகள் திடனற்றுப்போகாதபடி, அவர்களுக்குக் கோபமூட்டாதிருங்கள்.

Fathers, provoke not your children to anger, lest they be discouraged.

வேலைக்காரரே, சரீரத்தின்படி உங்கள் எஜமான்களாயிருக்கிறவர்களுக்கு எல்லாக்காரியத்திலேயும் கீழ்ப்படிந்து, நீங்கள் மனுஷருக்குப் பிரியமாயிருக்க விரும்புகிறவர்களாகப் பார்வைக்கு ஊழியஞ்செய்யாமல், தேவனுக்குப் பயப்படுகிறவர்களாகக் கபடமில்லாத இருதயத்தோடே ஊழியஞ்செய்யுங்கள்.

Servants, obey in all things your masters according to the flesh; not with eyeservice, as menpleasers; but in singleness of heart, fearing God:

நீங்கள் கர்த்தராகிய கிறிஸ்துவைச் சேவிக்கிறதினாலே, சுதந்தரமாகிய பலனைக் கர்த்தராலே பெறுவீர்களென்று அறிந்து,

And whatsoever ye do, do it heartily, as to the Lord, and not unto men;

எதைச் செய்தாலும், அதை மனுஷர்களுக்கென்று செய்யாமல், கர்த்தருக்கென்றே மனப்பூர்வமாய்ச் செய்யுங்கள்.

Knowing that of the Lord ye shall receive the reward of the inheritance: for ye serve the Lord Christ.

அநியாயஞ்செய்கிறவன் தான் செய்த அநியாயத்துக்கேற்ற பலனை அடைவான்; பட்சபாதமே இல்லை.

But he that doeth wrong shall receive for the wrong which he hath done: and there is no respect of persons.

கொலோசேயர் அத்தியாயம் 4

எஜமான்களே, உங்களுக்கும் பரலோகத்தில் எஜமான் இருக்கிறாரென்று அறிந்து, வேலைக்காரருக்கு நீதியும் செவ்வையுமானதைச் செய்யுங்கள்.

Masters, give unto your servants that which is just and equal; knowing that ye also have a Master in heaven.

இடைவிடாமல் ஜெபம்பண்ணுங்கள், ஸ்தோத்திரத்துடன் ஜெபத்தில் விழித்திருங்கள்.

Continue in prayer, and watch in the same with thanksgiving;

Withal praying also for us, that God would open unto us a door of utterance, to speak the mystery of Christ, for which I am also in bonds:

திருவசனம் செல்லும்படியான வாசலை தேவன் திறந்தருளும்படி எங்களுக்காகவும் வேண்டிக்கொள்ளுங்கள்.

That I may make it manifest, as I ought to speak.

புறம்பேயிருக்கிறவர்களுக்கு முன்பாக ஞானமாய் நடந்து, காலத்தைப் பிரயோஜனப்படுத்திக்கொள்ளுங்கள்.

Walk in wisdom toward them that are without, redeeming the time.

Let your speech be alway with grace, seasoned with salt, that ye may know how ye ought to answer every man.

All my state shall Tychicus declare unto you, who is a beloved brother, and a faithful minister and fellowservant in the Lord:

Whom I have sent unto you for the same purpose, that he might know your estate, and comfort your hearts;

அவனையும், உங்களிலொருவனாயிருக்கிற உண்மையும் பிரியமுமுள்ள சகோதரனாகிய ஒநேசிமு என்பவனையும், உங்களிடத்தில் அனுப்பியிருக்கிறேன்; அவர்கள் இவ்விடத்துச் செய்திகளையெல்லாம் உங்களுக்கு அறிவிப்பார்கள்.

With Onesimus, a faithful and beloved brother, who is one of you. They shall make known unto you all things which are done here.

என்னோடேகூடக் காவலிலிருக்கிற அரிஸ்தர்க்கு உங்களுக்கு வாழ்த்துதல் சொல்லுகிறான்; பர்னபாவுக்கு இனத்தானாகிய மாற்கும் வாழ்த்துதல் சொல்லுகிறான், இவனைக்குறித்துக் கட்டளைபெற்றீர்களே; இவன் உங்களிடத்தில் வந்தால் இவனை அங்கிகரித்துக்கொள்ளுங்கள்.

Aristarchus my fellowprisoner saluteth you, and Marcus, sister's son to Barnabas, (touching whom ye received commandments: if he come unto you, receive him;)

யுஸ்து என்னப்பட்ட இயேசுவும் வாழ்த்துதல் சொல்லுகிறான். விருத்தசேதனமுள்ளவர்களில் இவர்கள்மாத்திரம் தேவனுடைய ராஜ்யத்தின் பொருட்டு என் உடன்வேலையாட்களாயிருந்து, எனக்கு ஆறுதல் செய்துவந்தார்கள்.

And Jesus, which is called Justus, who are of the circumcision. These only are my fellowworkers unto the kingdom of God, which have been a comfort unto me.

Epaphras, who is one of you, a servant of Christ, saluteth you, always labouring fervently for you in prayers, that ye may stand perfect and complete in all the will of God.

Salute the brethren which are in Laodicea, and Nymphas, and the church which is in his house.
