ஆகாப் மரணமடைந்தபின், மோவாபியர் இஸ்ரவேலுக்கு விரோதமாய்க் கலகம்பண்ணிப் பிரிந்து போனார்கள்.

Then Moab rebelled against Israel after the death of Ahab.

அகசியா சமாரியாவிலிருக்கிற தன் மேல்வீட்டிலிருந்து கிராதியின் வழியாய் விழுந்து, வியாதிப்பட்டு: இந்த வியாதி நீங்கிப் பிழைப்பேனா என்று எக்ரோனின் தேவனாகிய பாகால்சேபூ இடத்தில் போய் விசாரியுங்கள் என்று ஆட்களை அனுப்பினான்.

And Ahaziah fell down through a lattice in his upper chamber that was in Samaria, and was sick: and he sent messengers, and said unto them, Go, enquire of Baalzebub the god of Ekron whether I shall recover of this disease.

கர்த்தருடைய தூதன் திஸ்பியனாகிய எலியாவை நோக்கி: நீ எழுந்து, சமாரியாவுடைய ராஜாவின் ஆட்களுக்கு எதிர்ப்படப்போய்: இஸ்ரவேலிலே தேவன் இல்லையென்றா நீங்கள் எக்ரோனின் தேவனாகிய பாகால்சேபூ இடத்தில் விசாரிக்கப்போகிறீர்கள்?

But the angel of the LORD said to Elijah the Tishbite, Arise, go up to meet the messengers of the king of Samaria, and say unto them, Is it not because there is not a God in Israel, that ye go to enquire of Baalzebub the god of Ekron?

இதினிமித்தம் நீ ஏறின கட்டிலிலிருந்து இறங்காமல், சாகவே சாவாய் என்று கர்த்தர் சொல்லுகிறார் என்பதை அவர்களோடே சொல் என்றான்; அப்படியே எலியா போய்ச் சொன்னான்.

Now therefore thus saith the LORD, Thou shalt not come down from that bed on which thou art gone up, but shalt surely die. And Elijah departed.

அந்த ஆட்கள் அவனிடத்திற்குத் திரும்பிவந்தபோது: நீங்கள் திரும்பி வந்தது என்ன என்று அவன் அவர்களிடத்தில் கேட்டான்.

And when the messengers turned back unto him, he said unto them, Why are ye now turned back?

And they said unto him, There came a man up to meet us, and said unto us, Go, turn again unto the king that sent you, and say unto him, Thus saith the LORD, Is it not because there is not a God in Israel, that thou sendest to enquire of Baalzebub the god of Ekron? therefore thou shalt not come down from that bed on which thou art gone up, but shalt surely die.

அப்பொழுது அவன் அவர்களை நோக்கி: உங்களுக்கு எதிர்ப்பட்டு வந்து, இந்த வார்த்தைகளை உங்களிடத்தில் சொன்ன மனுஷன் எப்படிப்பட்டவன் என்று கேட்டான்.

And he said unto them, What manner of man was he which came up to meet you, and told you these words?

அதற்கு அவர்கள்: அவன் மயிர் உடையைத் தரித்து, வார்க்கச்சையைத் தன் அரையிலே கட்டிக்கொண்டிருந்தான் என்றார்கள்; அப்பொழுது அவன்: திஸ்பியனாகிய எலியாதான் என்று சொல்லி;

And they answered him, He was an hairy man, and girt with a girdle of leather about his loins. And he said, It is Elijah the Tishbite.

அவனிடத்திற்கு ஒரு தலைவனையும், அவனுடைய ஐம்பது சேவகரையும் அனுப்பினான்; மலையின் உச்சியில் உட்கார்ந்திருக்கிற அவனிடத்தில் இவன் ஏறிப்போய்: தேவனுடைய மனுஷனே, ராஜா உன்னை வரச்சொல்லுகிறார் என்றான்.

Then the king sent unto him a captain of fifty with his fifty. And he went up to him: and, behold, he sat on the top of an hill. And he spake unto him, Thou man of God, the king hath said, Come down.

அப்பொழுது எலியா, அந்த ஐம்பதுபேரின் தலைவனுக்குப் பிரதியுத்தரமாக: நான் தேவனுடைய மனுஷனானால், அக்கினி வானத்திலிருந்து இறங்கி, உன்னையும் உன் ஐம்பது பேரையும் பட்சிக்கக்கடவது என்றான்; உடனே அக்கினி வானத்திலிருந்து இறங்கி, அவனையும் அவன் ஐம்பது பேரையும் பட்சித்தது.

And Elijah answered and said to the captain of fifty, If I be a man of God, then let fire come down from heaven, and consume thee and thy fifty. And there came down fire from heaven, and consumed him and his fifty.

மறுபடியும் அவனிடத்திற்கு வேறொரு தலைவனையும், அவனுடைய ஐம்பது சேவகரையும் அனுப்பினான். இவன் அவனை நோக்கி: தேவனுடைய மனுஷனே, ராஜா உன்னைச் சீக்கிரமாய் வரச்சொல்லுகிறார் என்றான்.

Again also he sent unto him another captain of fifty with his fifty. And he answered and said unto him, O man of God, thus hath the king said, Come down quickly.

எலியா அவர்களுக்குப் பிரதியுத்தரமாக: நான் தேவனுடைய மனுஷனானால், அக்கினி வானத்திலிருந்து இறங்கி, உன்னையும் உன் ஐம்பதுபேரையும் பட்சிக்கக்கடவது என்றான்; உடனே தேவனுடைய அக்கினி வானத்திலிருந்து இறங்கி, அவனையும் அவன் ஐம்பதுபேரையும் பட்சித்தது.

And Elijah answered and said unto them, If I be a man of God, let fire come down from heaven, and consume thee and thy fifty. And the fire of God came down from heaven, and consumed him and his fifty.

And he sent again a captain of the third fifty with his fifty. And the third captain of fifty went up, and came and fell on his knees before Elijah, and besought him, and said unto him, O man of God, I pray thee, let my life, and the life of these fifty thy servants, be precious in thy sight.

இதோ, அக்கினி வானத்திலிருந்து இறங்கி, முந்தின இரண்டு தலைவரையும், அவரவருடைய ஐம்பது சேவகரையும் பட்சித்தது; இப்போதும் என்னுடைய பிராணன் உமது பார்வைக்கு அருமையாயிருப்பதாக என்றான்.

Behold, there came fire down from heaven, and burnt up the two captains of the former fifties with their fifties: therefore let my life now be precious in thy sight.

அப்பொழுது கர்த்தருடைய தூதன் எலியாவை நோக்கி: அவனோடேகூட இறங்கிப்போ, அவனுக்குப் பயப்படாதே என்றான்; அப்படியே அவன் எழுந்து அவனோடேகூட ராஜாவினிடத்திற்கு இறங்கிப்போய்,

And the angel of the LORD said unto Elijah, Go down with him: be not afraid of him. And he arose, and went down with him unto the king.

அவனைப் பார்த்து: இஸ்ரவேலிலே தேவன் இல்லையென்றா நீ எக்ரோனின் தேவனாகிய பாகால்சேபூ இடத்தில் விசாரிக்க ஆட்களை அனுப்பினாய்; ஆதலால் நீ ஏறின கட்டிலிலிருந்து இறங்காமல் சாகவே சாவாய் என்று கர்த்தர் சொல்லுகிறார் என்றான்.

And he said unto him, Thus saith the LORD, Forasmuch as thou hast sent messengers to enquire of Baalzebub the god of Ekron, is it not because there is no God in Israel to enquire of his word? therefore thou shalt not come down off that bed on which thou art gone up, but shalt surely die.

எலியா சொன்ன கர்த்தருடைய வார்த்தையின்படியே அவன் இறந்து போனான்; அவனுக்குக் குமாரன் இல்லாதபடியினால், அவன் ஸ்தானத்திலே யூதாவின் ராஜாவாகிய யோசபாத்துடைய குமாரனான யோராமின் இரண்டாம் வருஷத்தில் யோராம் அவன் ஸ்தானத்தில் ராஜாவானான்.

So he died according to the word of the LORD which Elijah had spoken. And Jehoram reigned in his stead in the second year of Jehoram the son of Jehoshaphat king of Judah; because he had no son.

Now the rest of the acts of Ahaziah which he did, are they not written in the book of the chronicles of the kings of Israel?

And it came to pass, when the LORD would take up Elijah into heaven by a whirlwind, that Elijah went with Elisha from Gilgal.

எலியா எலிசாவை நோக்கி: நீ இங்கே இரு; கர்த்தர் என்னைப் பெத்தேல்மட்டும் போக அனுப்புகிறார் என்றான். அதற்கு எலிசா: நான் உம்மை விடுகிறதில்லை என்று கர்த்தரின் ஜீவனையும் உம்முடைய ஜீவனையும் கொண்டு சொல்லுகிறேன் என்றான்; அப்படியே இருவரும் பெத்தேலுக்குப் போனார்கள்.

And Elijah said unto Elisha, Tarry here, I pray thee; for the LORD hath sent me to Bethel. And Elisha said unto him, As the LORD liveth, and as thy soul liveth, I will not leave thee. So they went down to Bethel.

அப்பொழுது பெத்தேலிலிருந்த தீர்க்கதரிசிகளின் புத்திரர் எலிசாவினிடத்தில் வந்து: இன்றைக்குக் கர்த்தர் உனக்குத் தலைமையாயிருக்கிற உன் எஜமானை உன்னைவிட்டு எடுத்துக்கொள்வார் என்பது உனக்குத் தெரியுமா என்றார்கள். அதற்கு அவன்: எனக்குத் தெரியும், சும்மா இருங்கள் என்றான்.

And the sons of the prophets that were at Bethel came forth to Elisha, and said unto him, Knowest thou that the LORD will take away thy master from thy head to day? And he said, Yea, I know it; hold ye your peace.

பின்பு எலியா அவனை நோக்கி: எலிசாவே, நீ இங்கே இரு; கர்த்தர் என்னை எரிகோமட்டும் போக அனுப்புகிறார் என்றான். அதற்கு அவன்: நான் உம்மை விடுகிறதில்லை என்று கர்த்தருடைய ஜீவனையும் உம்முடைய ஜீவனையும் கொண்டு சொல்லுகிறேன் என்றான்; அப்படியே அவர்கள் எரிகோவுக்கு வந்தார்கள்.

And Elijah said unto him, Elisha, tarry here, I pray thee; for the LORD hath sent me to Jericho. And he said, As the LORD liveth, and as thy soul liveth, I will not leave thee. So they came to Jericho.

எரிகோவிலிருந்த தீர்க்கதரிசிகளின் புத்திரர் எலிசாவினிடத்தில் வந்து: இன்றைக்குக் கர்த்தர் உனக்குத் தலைமையாயிருக்கிற உன் எஜமானை உன்னைவிட்டு எடுத்துக்கொள்வார் என்பது உனக்குத் தெரியுமா என்று அவனைக் கேட்டார்கள். அதற்கு அவன்: எனக்குத் தெரியும், சும்மா இருங்கள் என்றான்.

And the sons of the prophets that were at Jericho came to Elisha, and said unto him, Knowest thou that the LORD will take away thy master from thy head to day? And he answered, Yea, I know it; hold ye your peace.

And Elijah said unto him, Tarry, I pray thee, here; for the LORD hath sent me to Jordan. And he said, As the LORD liveth, and as thy soul liveth, I will not leave thee. And they two went on.

தீர்க்கதரிசிகளின் புத்திரரில் ஐம்பதுபேர் போய், தூரத்திலே பார்த்துக்கொண்டு நின்றார்கள்; அவர்கள் இருவரும் யோர்தான் கரையிலே நின்றார்கள்.

And fifty men of the sons of the prophets went, and stood to view afar off: and they two stood by Jordan.

அப்பொழுது எலியா, தன் சால்வையை எடுத்து முறுக்கித் தண்ணீரை அடித்தான்; அது இருபக்கமாகப் பிரிந்தது; அவர்கள் இருவரும் உலர்ந்த தரைவழியாய் அக்கரைக்குப் போனார்கள்.

And Elijah took his mantle, and wrapped it together, and smote the waters, and they were divided hither and thither, so that they two went over on dry ground.

அவர்கள் அக்கரைப்பட்டபின்பு, எலியா எலிசாவை நோக்கி: நான் உன்னைவிட்டு எடுத்துக்கொள்ளப்படுமுன்னே நான் உனக்குச் செய்யவேண்டியது என்ன, கேள் என்றான். அதற்கு எலிசா: உம்மிடத்திலுள்ள ஆவியின்வரம் எனக்கு இரட்டிப்பாய்க் கிடைக்கும்படி வேண்டுகிறேன் என்றான்.

And it came to pass, when they were gone over, that Elijah said unto Elisha, Ask what I shall do for thee, before I be taken away from thee. And Elisha said, I pray thee, let a double portion of thy spirit be upon me.

அதற்கு அவன்: அரிதான காரியத்தைக் கேட்டாய்; உன்னைவிட்டு நான் எடுத்துக்கொள்ளப்படுகையில் என்னை நீ கண்டால் உனக்குக் கிடைக்கும்; இல்லாவிட்டால் கிடையாது என்றான்.

And he said, Thou hast asked a hard thing: nevertheless, if thou see me when I am taken from thee, it shall be so unto thee; but if not, it shall not be so.

And it came to pass, as they still went on, and talked, that, behold, there appeared a chariot of fire, and horses of fire, and parted them both asunder; and Elijah went up by a whirlwind into heaven.

And Elisha saw it, and he cried, My father, my father, the chariot of Israel, and the horsemen thereof. And he saw him no more: and he took hold of his own clothes, and rent them in two pieces.

He took up also the mantle of Elijah that fell from him, and went back, and stood by the bank of Jordan;

And he took the mantle of Elijah that fell from him, and smote the waters, and said, Where is the LORD God of Elijah? and when he also had smitten the waters, they parted hither and thither: and Elisha went over.

And when the sons of the prophets which were to view at Jericho saw him, they said, The spirit of Elijah doth rest on Elisha. And they came to meet him, and bowed themselves to the ground before him.

And they said unto him, Behold now, there be with thy servants fifty strong men; let them go, we pray thee, and seek thy master: lest peradventure the Spirit of the LORD hath taken him up, and cast him upon some mountain, or into some valley. And he said, Ye shall not send.

அவன் சலித்துப்போகுமட்டும் அவர்கள் அவனை அலட்டிக்கொண்டிருந்தபடியால் அனுப்புங்கள் என்றான்; அப்படியே ஐம்பதுபேரை அனுப்பினார்கள்; அவர்கள் மூன்று நாள் அவனைத் தேடியும் காணாமல்,

And when they urged him till he was ashamed, he said, Send. They sent therefore fifty men; and they sought three days, but found him not.

எரிகோவிலிருந்த அவனிடத்திற்குத் திரும்பிவந்தபோது, அவன் இவர்களைப் பார்த்து: போகவேண்டாம் என்று நான் உங்களுக்குச் சொல்லவில்லையா என்றான்.

And when they came again to him, (for he tarried at Jericho,) he said unto them, Did I not say unto you, Go not?

பின்பு அந்தப் பட்டணத்தின் மனுஷர் எலிசாவை நோக்கி: இதோ, எங்கள் ஆண்டவன் காண்கிறபடி இந்தப் பட்டணம் குடியிருப்புக்கு நல்லது; தண்ணீரோ கெட்டது, நிலமும் பாழ்நிலம் என்றார்கள்.

And the men of the city said unto Elisha, Behold, I pray thee, the situation of this city is pleasant, as my lord seeth: but the water is naught, and the ground barren.

அப்பொழுது அவன்: ஒரு புதுத்தோண்டியை எடுத்து, அதிலே உப்புப் போட்டுக் கொண்டு வாருங்கள் என்றான்; அதை அவனிடத்தில் கொண்டுவந்தபோது,

And he said, Bring me a new cruse, and put salt therein. And they brought it to him.

அவன் நீரூற்றண்டைக்குப் போய், உப்பை அதிலே போட்டு: இந்தத் தண்ணீரை ஆரோக்கியமாக்கினேன்; இனி இதினால் சாவும் வராது, நிலப்பாழும் இராது என்று கர்த்தர் சொல்லுகிறார் என்றான்.

And he went forth unto the spring of the waters, and cast the salt in there, and said, Thus saith the LORD, I have healed these waters; there shall not be from thence any more death or barren land.

எலிசா சொன்ன வார்த்தையின்படியே அந்தத் தண்ணீர் இந்நாள் வரைக்கும் இருக்கிறபடி ஆரோக்கியமாயிற்று.

So the waters were healed unto this day, according to the saying of Elisha which he spake.

அவன் அவ்விடத்தைவிட்டுப் பெத்தேலுக்குப் போனான்; அவன் வழிநடந்துபோகையில் பிள்ளைகள் பட்டணத்திலிருந்து வந்து, அவனைப் பார்த்து: மொட்டைத்தலையா ஏறிப்போ என்று சொல்லி நிந்தித்தார்கள்.

And he went up from thence unto Bethel: and as he was going up by the way, there came forth little children out of the city, and mocked him, and said unto him, Go up, thou bald head; go up, thou bald head.

அப்பொழுது அவன் திரும்பி அவர்களைப் பார்த்து: கர்த்தரின் நாமத்திலே அவர்களைச் சபித்தான்; உடனே காட்டிலிருந்து இரண்டு கரடிகள் புறப்பட்டு வந்து, அவர்களில் நாற்பத்திரண்டு பிள்ளைகளைப் பீறிப்போட்டது.

And he turned back, and looked on them, and cursed them in the name of the LORD. And there came forth two she bears out of the wood, and tare forty and two children of them.

அவன் அவ்விடத்தைவிட்டுக் கர்மேல் பர்வதத்திற்குப்போய், அங்கேயிருந்து சமாரியாவுக்குத் திரும்பினான்.

And he went from thence to mount Carmel, and from thence he returned to Samaria.

அன்றியும், சகோதரரே, நீங்கள் இன்னின்னபிரகாரமாய் நடக்கவும், தேவனுக்குப் பிரியமாயிருக்கவும் வேண்டுமென்று, நீங்கள் எங்களால் கேட்டு ஏற்றுக்கொண்டபடியே, அதிகமதிகமாய்த் தேறும்படிக்கு, கர்த்தராகிய இயேசுவுக்குள் உங்களை வேண்டிக்கொண்டு புத்திசொல்லுகிறோம்.

Furthermore then we beseech you, brethren, and exhort you by the Lord Jesus, that as ye have received of us how ye ought to walk and to please God, so ye would abound more and more.

கர்த்தராகிய இயேசுவினாலே நாங்கள் உங்களுக்குக் கொடுத்த கட்டளைகளை அறிந்திருக்கிறீர்களே.

For ye know what commandments we gave you by the Lord Jesus.

நீங்கள் பரிசுத்தமுள்ளவர்களாக வேண்டுமென்பதே தேவனுடைய சித்தமாயிருக்கிறது. அந்தப்படி, நீங்கள் வேசிமார்க்கத்துக்கு விலகியிருந்து,

For this is the will of God, even your sanctification, that ye should abstain from fornication:

தேவனை அறியாத அஞ்ஞானிகளைப்போல மோக இச்சைக்குட்படாமல்,

That every one of you should know how to possess his vessel in sanctification and honour;

உங்களில் அவனவன் தன்தன் சரீரபாண்டத்தைப்பரிசுத்தமாயும் கனமாயும் ஆண்டுகொள்ளும்படி அறிந்து:

Not in the lust of concupiscence, even as the Gentiles which know not God:

இந்த விஷயத்தில் ஒருவனும் மீறாமலும் தன் சகோதரனை வஞ்சியாமலும் இருக்கவேண்டும்; முன்னமே நாங்கள் உங்களுக்குச் சொல்லி, சாட்சியாக எச்சரித்தபடியே இப்படிப்பட்ட விஷயங்களெல்லாவற்றையுங்குறித்துக் கர்த்தர் நீதியைச் சரிக்கட்டுகிறவராயிருக்கிறார்.

That no man go beyond and defraud his brother in any matter: because that the Lord is the avenger of all such, as we also have forewarned you and testified.

தேவன் நம்மை அசுத்தத்திற்கல்ல பரிசுத்தத்திற்கே அழைத்திருக்கிறார்.

For God hath not called us unto uncleanness, but unto holiness.

ஆகையால் அசட்டைபண்ணுகிறவன் மனுஷரை அல்ல, தமது பரிசுத்த ஆவியை நமக்குத் தந்தருளின தேவனையே அசட்டைபண்ணுகிறான்.

He therefore that despiseth, despiseth not man, but God, who hath also given unto us his holy Spirit.

சகோதர சிநேகத்தைக்குறித்து நான் உங்களுக்கு எழுதவேண்டுவதில்லை; நீங்கள் ஒருவரிலொருவர் அன்பாயிருக்கும்படிக்கு தேவனால் போதிக்கப்பட்டவர்களாயிருக்கிறீர்களே.

But as touching brotherly love ye need not that I write unto you: for ye yourselves are taught of God to love one another.

அந்தப்படி நீங்கள் மக்கெதோனியா நாடெங்குமுள்ள சகோதரரெல்லாருக்கும் செய்துவருகிறீர்கள். சகோதரரே, அன்பிலே நீங்கள் இன்னும் அதிகமாய்ப் பெருகவும்;

And indeed ye do it toward all the brethren which are in all Macedonia: but we beseech you, brethren, that ye increase more and more;

புறம்பேயிருக்கிறவர்களைப்பற்றி யோக்கியமாய் நடந்து, ஒன்றிலும் உங்களுக்குக் குறைவில்லாதிருக்கும்படிக்கு,

And that ye study to be quiet, and to do your own business, and to work with your own hands, as we commanded you;

நாங்கள் உங்களுக்குக் கட்டளையிட்டபடியே, அமைதலுள்ளவர்களாயிருக்கும்படி நாடவும், உங்கள் சொந்த அலுவல்களைப்பார்க்கவும், உங்கள் சொந்தக் கைகளினாலே வேலைசெய்யவும் வேண்டுமென்று உங்களுக்குப் புத்திசொல்லுகிறோம்.

That ye may walk honestly toward them that are without, and that ye may have lack of nothing.

அன்றியும், சகோதரரே, நித்திரையடைந்தவர்களினிமித்தம் நீங்கள் நம்பிக்கையற்றவர்களான மற்றவர்களைப்போலத் துக்கித்து, அறிவில்லாதிருக்க எனக்கு மனதில்லை.

But I would not have you to be ignorant, brethren, concerning them which are asleep, that ye sorrow not, even as others which have no hope.

இயேசுவானவர் மரித்து பின்பு எழுந்திருந்தாரென்று விசுவாசிக்கிறோமே; அப்படியே இயேசுவுக்குள் நித்திரையடைந்தவர்களையும் தேவன் அவரோடேகூடக் கொண்டுவருவார்.

For if we believe that Jesus died and rose again, even so them also which sleep in Jesus will God bring with him.

கர்த்தருடைய வார்த்தையை முன்னிட்டு நாங்கள் உங்களுக்குச் சொல்லுகிறதாவது: கர்த்தருடைய வருகைமட்டும் உயிரோடிருக்கும் நாம் நித்திரையடைந்தவர்களுக்கு முந்திக்கொள்வதில்லை.

For this we say unto you by the word of the Lord, that we which are alive and remain unto the coming of the Lord shall not prevent them which are asleep.

ஏனெனில், கர்த்தர் தாமே ஆரவாரத்தோடும், பிரதானதூதனுடைய சத்தத்தோடும், தேவ எக்காளத்தோடும் வானத்திலிருந்து இறங்கிவருவார்; அப்பொழுது கிறிஸ்துவுக்குள் மரித்தவர்கள் முதலாவது எழுந்திருப்பார்கள்.

For the Lord himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of God: and the dead in Christ shall rise first:

பின்பு, உயிரோடிருக்கும் நாமும் கர்த்தருக்கு எதிர்கொண்டுபோக, மேகங்கள்மேல் அவர்களோடேகூட ஆகாயத்தில் எடுத்துக்கொள்ளப்பட்டு, இவ்விதமாய் எப்பொழுதும் கர்த்தருடனேகூட இருப்போம்.

Then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air: and so shall we ever be with the Lord.

ஆகையால், இந்த வார்த்தைகளினாலே நீங்கள் ஒருவரையொருவர் தேற்றுங்கள்.

Wherefore comfort one another with these words.

1தெசலோனிக்கேயர் அத்தியாயம் 5

சகோதரரே, இவைகள் நடக்குங்காலங்களையும் சமயங்களையுங்குறித்து உங்களுக்கு எழுதவேண்டுவதில்லை.

But of the times and the seasons, brethren, ye have no need that I write unto you.

இரவிலே திருடன் வருகிறவிதமாய்க் கர்த்தருடைய நாள் வருமென்று நீங்களே நன்றாய் அறிந்திருக்கிறீர்கள்.

For yourselves know perfectly that the day of the Lord so cometh as a thief in the night.

சமாதானமும் சவுக்கியமும் உண்டென்று அவர்கள் சொல்லும்போது, கர்ப்பவதியானவளுக்கு வேதனை வருகிறதுபோல, அழிவு சடிதியாய் அவர்கள்மேல் வரும்; அவர்கள் தப்பிப்போவதில்லை.

For when they shall say, Peace and safety; then sudden destruction cometh upon them, as travail upon a woman with child; and they shall not escape.

சகோதரரே, அந்த நாள் திருடனைப்போல உங்களைப் பிடித்துக்கொள்ளத்தக்கதாக, நீங்கள் அந்தகாரத்திலிருக்கிறவர்களல்லவே.

But ye, brethren, are not in darkness, that that day should overtake you as a thief.

நீங்களெல்லாரும் வெளிச்சத்தின் பிள்ளைகளும், பகலின் பிள்ளைகளுமாயிருக்கிறீர்கள்; நாம் இரவுக்கும் இருளுக்கும் உள்ளானவர்களல்லவே.

Ye are all the children of light, and the children of the day: we are not of the night, nor of darkness.

ஆகையால், மற்றவர்கள் தூங்குகிறதுபோல நாம் தூங்காமல், விழித்துக்கொண்டு தெளிந்தவர்களாயிருக்கக்கடவோம்.

Therefore let us not sleep, as do others; but let us watch and be sober.

தூங்குகிறவர்கள் இராத்திரியிலே தூங்குவார்கள்; வெறிகொள்ளுகிறவர்கள் இராத்திரியிலே வெறிகொள்ளுவார்கள்.

For they that sleep sleep in the night; and they that be drunken are drunken in the night.

பகலுக்குரியவர்களாகிய நாமோ தெளிந்தவர்களாயிருந்து, விசுவாசம் அன்பு என்னும் மார்க்கவசத்தையும், இரட்சிப்பின் நம்பிக்கையென்னும் தலைச்சீராவையும் தரித்துக்கொண்டிருக்கக்கடவோம்.

But let us, who are of the day, be sober, putting on the breastplate of faith and love; and for an helmet, the hope of salvation.

தேவன் நம்மைக் கோபாக்கினைக்கென்று நியமிக்காமல், நம்முடைய கர்த்தராகிய இயேசுகிறிஸ்து மூலமாய் இரட்சிப்படைவதற்கென்று நியமித்தார்.

For God hath not appointed us to wrath, but to obtain salvation by our Lord Jesus Christ,

நாம் விழித்திருப்பவர்களானாலும், நித்திரையடைந்தவர்களானாலும், தம்முடனேகூட நாம் ஏகமாய்ப் பிழைத்திருக்கும்படி அவர் நமக்காக மரித்தாரே.

Who died for us, that, whether we wake or sleep, we should live together with him.

ஆகையால் நீங்கள் செய்துவருகிறபடியே, ஒருவரையொருவர் தேற்றி, ஒருவருக்கொருவர் பக்திவிருத்தி உண்டாகும்படி செய்யுங்கள்.

Wherefore comfort yourselves together, and edify one another, even as also ye do.

அன்றியும், சகோதரரே, உங்களுக்குள்ளே பிரயாசப்பட்டு, கர்த்தருக்குள் உங்களை விசாரணைசெய்கிறவர்களாயிருந்து, உங்களுக்குப் புத்திசொல்லுகிறவர்களை நீங்கள் மதித்து,

And we beseech you, brethren, to know them which labour among you, and are over you in the Lord, and admonish you;

அவர்களுடைய கிரியையினிமித்தம் அவர்களை மிகவும் அன்பாய் எண்ணிக்கொள்ளும்படி உங்களை வேண்டிக்கொள்ளுகிறோம். உங்களுக்குள்ளே சமாதானமாயிருங்கள்.

And to esteem them very highly in love for their work's sake. And be at peace among yourselves.

மேலும், சகோதரரே, நாங்கள் உங்களுக்குப் போதிக்கிறதென்னவென்றால், ஒழுங்கில்லாதவர்களுக்குப் புத்திசொல்லுங்கள், திடனற்றவர்களைத் தேற்றுங்கள், பலவீனரைத் தாங்குங்கள், எல்லாரிடத்திலும் நீடிய சாந்தமாயிருங்கள்.

Now we exhort you, brethren, warn them that are unruly, comfort the feebleminded, support the weak, be patient toward all men.

ஒருவனும் மற்றொருவன் செய்யும் தீமைக்குத் தீமைசெய்யாதபடி பாருங்கள்; உங்களுக்குள்ளும் மற்ற யாவருக்குள்ளும் எப்பொழுதும் நன்மைசெய்யநாடுங்கள்.

See that none render evil for evil unto any man; but ever follow that which is good, both among yourselves, and to all men.

எப்பொழுதும் சந்தோஷமாயிருங்கள்.

Rejoice evermore.

இடைவிடாமல் ஜெபம்பண்ணுங்கள்.

Pray without ceasing.

எல்லாவற்றிலேயும் ஸ்தோத்திரஞ்செய்யுங்கள்; அப்படிச் செய்வதே கிறிஸ்து இயேசுவுக்குள் உங்களைக்குறித்து தேவனுடைய சித்தமாயிருக்கிறது.

In every thing give thanks: for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus concerning you.

ஆவியை அவித்துப்போடாதிருங்கள்.

Quench not the Spirit.

தீர்க்கதரிசனங்களை அற்பமாயெண்ணாதிருங்கள்.

Despise not prophesyings.

எல்லாவற்றையும் சோதித்துப்பார்த்து, நலமானதைப் பிடித்துக்கொள்ளுங்கள்.

Prove all things; hold fast that which is good.

பொல்லாங்காய்த் தோன்றுகிற எல்லாவற்றையும் விட்டுவிலகுங்கள்.

Abstain from all appearance of evil.

சமாதானத்தின் தேவன் தாமே உங்களை முற்றிலும் பரிசுத்தமாக்குவாராக. உங்கள் ஆவி ஆத்துமா சரீரம் முழுவதும், நம்முடைய கர்த்தராகிய இயேசுகிறிஸ்து வரும்போது குற்றமற்றதாயிருக்கும்படி காக்கப்படுவதாக.

And the very God of peace sanctify you wholly; and I pray God your whole spirit and soul and body be preserved blameless unto the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ.

உங்களை அழைக்கிறவர் உண்மையுள்ளவர், அவர் அப்படியே செய்வார்.

Faithful is he that calleth you, who also will do it.

சகோதரரே, எங்களுக்காக வேண்டிக்கொள்ளுங்கள்.

Brethren, pray for us.

சகோதரரெல்லாரையும் பரிசுத்த முத்தத்தோடே வாழ்த்துங்கள்.

Greet all the brethren with an holy kiss.

இந்த நிருபம் பரிசுத்தமான சகோதரர் யாவருக்கும் வாசிக்கப்படும்படி செய்யவேண்டுமென்று கர்த்தர்பேரில் ஆணையிட்டு உங்களுக்குச் சொல்லுகிறேன்.

I charge you by the Lord that this epistle be read unto all the holy brethren.

நம்முடைய கர்த்தராகிய இயேசுகிறிஸ்துவினுடைய கிருபை உங்களுடனேகூட இருப்பதாக. ஆமென்.

The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you. Amen.
