2சாமுவேல் அத்தியாயம் 12

கர்த்தர் நாத்தானைத் தாவீதினிடத்தில் அனுப்பினார்; இவன் அவனிடத்தில் வந்து, அவனை நோக்கி: ஒரு பட்டணத்தில் இரண்டு மனுஷர் இருந்தார்கள், ஒருவன் ஐசுவரியவான், மற்றவன் தரித்திரன்.

And the LORD sent Nathan unto David. And he came unto him, and said unto him, There were two men in one city; the one rich, and the other poor.

ஐசுவரியவானுக்கு ஆடுமாடுகள் வெகு திரளாயிருந்தது.

The rich man had exceeding many flocks and herds:

தரித்திரனுக்கோ தான் கொண்டு வளர்த்த ஒரே ஒரு சின்ன ஆட்டுக்குட்டியைத்தவிர வேறொன்றும் இல்லாதிருந்தது; அது அவனோடும் அவன் பிள்ளைகளோடுங்கூட இருந்து வளர்ந்து, அவன் வாயின் அப்பத்தைத் தின்று, அவன் பாத்திரத்திலே குடித்து, அவன் மடியிலே படுத்துக்கொண்டு, அவனுக்கு ஒரு மகளைப்போல இருந்தது.

But the poor man had nothing, save one little ewe lamb, which he had bought and nourished up: and it grew up together with him, and with his children; it did eat of his own meat, and drank of his own cup, and lay in his bosom, and was unto him as a daughter.

அந்த ஐசுவரியவானிடத்தில் வழிப்போக்கன் ஒருவன் வந்தான்; அவன் தன்னிடத்தில் வந்த வழிப்போக்கனுக்குச் சமையல் பண்ணுவிக்க, தன்னுடைய ஆடுமாடுகளில் ஒன்றைப் பிடிக்க மனதில்லாமல், அந்தத் தரித்திரனுடைய ஆட்டுக்குட்டியைப் பிடித்து, அதைத் தன்னிடத்தில் வந்த மனுஷனுக்குச் சமையல்பண்ணுவித்தான் என்றான்.

And there came a traveller unto the rich man, and he spared to take of his own flock and of his own herd, to dress for the wayfaring man that was come unto him; but took the poor man's lamb, and dressed it for the man that was come to him.

அப்பொழுது தாவீது: அந்த மனுஷன்மேல் மிகவும் கோபமூண்டவனாகி, நாத்தானைப் பார்த்து: இந்தக் காரியத்தைச் செய்த மனுஷன் மரணத்திற்குப் பாத்திரன் என்று கர்த்தருடைய ஜீவனைக் கொண்டு சொல்லுகிறேன்.

And David's anger was greatly kindled against the man; and he said to Nathan, As the LORD liveth, the man that hath done this thing shall surely die:

அவன் இரக்கமற்றவனாயிருந்து, இந்தக் காரியத்தைச் செய்தபடியினால், அந்த ஆட்டுக்குட்டிக்காக நாலத்தனை திரும்பச் செலுத்தவேண்டும் என்றான்.

And he shall restore the lamb fourfold, because he did this thing, and because he had no pity.

அப்பொழுது நாத்தான் தாவீதை நோக்கி: நீயே அந்த மனுஷன்; இஸ்ரவேலின் தேவனாகிய கர்த்தர் சொல்லுகிறது என்னவென்றால், நான் உன்னை இஸ்ரவேலின்மேல் ராஜாவாக அபிஷேகம்பண்ணி, உன்னைச் சவுலின் கைக்குத் தப்புவித்து,

And Nathan said to David, Thou art the man. Thus saith the LORD God of Israel, I anointed thee king over Israel, and I delivered thee out of the hand of Saul;

உன் ஆண்டவனுடைய வீட்டை உனக்குக் கொடுத்து, உன் ஆண்டவனுடைய ஸ்திரீகளையும் உன் மடியிலே தந்து, இஸ்ரவேல் வம்சத்தையும், யூதா வம்சத்தையும் உனக்குக் கையளித்தேன்; இது போதாதிருந்தால், இன்னும் உனக்கு வேண்டியதைத் தருவேன்.

And I gave thee thy master's house, and thy master's wives into thy bosom, and gave thee the house of Israel and of Judah; and if that had been too little, I would moreover have given unto thee such and such things.

கர்த்தருடைய பார்வைக்குப் பொல்லாப்பான இந்தக் காரியத்தைச் செய்து, அவருடைய வார்த்தையை நீ அசட்டை பண்ணினது என்ன? ஏத்தியனாகிய உரியாவை நீ பட்டயத்தால் மடிவித்து, அவன் மனைவியை உனக்கு மனைவியாக எடுத்துக்கொண்டு, அவனை அம்மோன் புத்திரரின் பட்டயத்தாலே கொன்றுபோட்டாய்.

Wherefore hast thou despised the commandment of the LORD, to do evil in his sight? thou hast killed Uriah the Hittite with the sword, and hast taken his wife to be thy wife, and hast slain him with the sword of the children of Ammon.

இப்போதும் நீ என்னை அசட்டைபண்ணி, ஏத்தியனாகிய உரியாவின் மனைவியை உனக்கு மனைவியாக எடுத்துக்கொண்டபடியினால், பட்டயம் என்றைக்கும் உன் வீட்டைவிட்டு விலகாதிருக்கும்.

Now therefore the sword shall never depart from thine house; because thou hast despised me, and hast taken the wife of Uriah the Hittite to be thy wife.

கர்த்தர் சொல்லுகிறது என்னவென்றால், இதோ, நான் உன் வீட்டிலே பொல்லாப்பை உன்மேல் எழும்பப்பண்ணி, உன் கண்கள் பார்க்க, உன் ஸ்திரீகளை எடுத்து, உனக்கு அடுத்தவனுக்குக் கொடுப்பேன்; அவன் இந்தச் சூரியனுடைய வெளிச்சத்திலே உன் ஸ்திரீகளோடே சயனிப்பான்.

Thus saith the LORD, Behold, I will raise up evil against thee out of thine own house, and I will take thy wives before thine eyes, and give them unto thy neighbour, and he shall lie with thy wives in the sight of this sun.

நீ ஒளிப்பிடத்தில் அதைச் செய்தாய்; நானோ இந்தக் காரியத்தை இஸ்ரவேலர் எல்லாருக்கு முன்பாகவும், சூரியனுக்கு முன்பாகவும் செய்விப்பேன் என்றார் என்று சொன்னான்.

For thou didst it secretly: but I will do this thing before all Israel, and before the sun.

அப்பொழுது தாவீது நாத்தானிடத்தில்: நான் கர்த்தருக்கு விரோதமாய்ப் பாவஞ்செய்தேன் என்றான். நாத்தான் தாவீதை நோக்கி: நீ சாகாதபடிக்கு, கர்த்தர் உன் பாவம் நீங்கச்செய்தார்.

And David said unto Nathan, I have sinned against the LORD. And Nathan said unto David, The LORD also hath put away thy sin; thou shalt not die.

ஆனாலும் இந்தக் காரியத்தினாலே கர்த்தருடைய சத்துருக்கள் தூஷிக்க நீ காரணமாயிருந்தபடியினால், உனக்குப் பிறந்த பிள்ளை நிச்சயமாய் சாகும் என்று சொல்லி, நாத்தான் தன் வீட்டுக்குப் போய்விட்டான்.

Howbeit, because by this deed thou hast given great occasion to the enemies of the LORD to blaspheme, the child also that is born unto thee shall surely die.

அப்பொழுது கர்த்தர் உரியாவின் மனைவி தாவீதுக்குப் பெற்ற ஆண்பிள்ளையை அடித்தார்; அது வியாதிப்பட்டுக் கேவலமாயிருந்தது.

And Nathan departed unto his house. And the LORD struck the child that Uriah's wife bare unto David, and it was very sick.

அப்பொழுது தாவீது அந்தப் பிள்ளைக்காக தேவனிடத்தில் பிரார்த்தனைபண்ணி, உபவாசித்து, உள்ளே போய், இராமுழுவதும் தரையிலே கிடந்தான்.

David therefore besought God for the child; and David fasted, and went in, and lay all night upon the earth.

அவனைத் தரையிலிருந்து எழுந்திருக்கப்பண்ண, அவன் வீட்டிலுள்ள மூப்பரானவர்கள் எழுந்து, அவனண்டையில் வந்தாலும், அவன் மாட்டேன் என்று சொல்லி, அவர்களோடே அப்பம் சாப்பிடாமல் இருந்தான்.

And the elders of his house arose, and went to him, to raise him up from the earth: but he would not, neither did he eat bread with them.

ஏழாம் நாளில், பிள்ளை செத்துப்போயிற்று. பிள்ளை செத்துப்போயிற்று என்று தாவீதின் ஊழியக்காரர் அவனுக்கு அறிவிக்க ஐயப்பட்டார்கள்: பிள்ளை உயிரோடிருக்கையில், நாம் அவரோடே பேசுகிறபோது, அவர் நம்முடைய சொற்கேட்கவில்லை; பிள்ளை செத்துப்போயிற்று என்று அவரோடே எப்படிச் சொல்லுவோம்? அதிகமாக வியாகுலப்படுவாரே என்று பேசிக்கொண்டார்கள்.

And it came to pass on the seventh day, that the child died. And the servants of David feared to tell him that the child was dead: for they said, Behold, while the child was yet alive, we spake unto him, and he would not hearken unto our voice: how will he then vex himself, if we tell him that the child is dead?

தாவீது தன் ஊழியக்காரர் இரகசியமாய்ப் பேசிக்கொள்ளுகிறதைக் கண்டு, பிள்ளை செத்துப்போயிற்று என்று அறிந்து, தன் ஊழியக்காரரை நோக்கி: பிள்ளை செத்துப்போயிற்றோ என்று கேட்டான்; செத்துப்போயிற்று என்றார்கள்.

But when David saw that his servants whispered, David perceived that the child was dead: therefore David said unto his servants, Is the child dead? And they said, He is dead.

அப்பொழுது தாவீது தரையை விட்டு எழுந்து, ஸ்நானம்பண்ணி, எண்ணெய் பூசிக்கொண்டு, தன் வஸ்திரங்களை மாற்றி, கர்த்தருடைய ஆலயத்தில் பிரவேசித்து, பணிந்துகொண்டு, தன் வீட்டுக்கு வந்து, போஜனம் கேட்டான்; அவன் முன்னே அதை வைத்தபோது புசித்தான்.

Then David arose from the earth, and washed, and anointed himself, and changed his apparel, and came into the house of the LORD, and worshipped: then he came to his own house; and when he required, they set bread before him, and he did eat.

அப்பொழுது அவன் ஊழியக்காரர் அவனை நோக்கி: நீர் செய்கிற இந்தக் காரியம் என்ன? பிள்ளை உயிரோடிருக்கையில் உபவாசித்து அழுதீர்; பிள்ளை மரித்தபின்பு, எழுந்திருந்து அசனம் பண்ணுகிறீரே என்றார்கள்.

Then said his servants unto him, What thing is this that thou hast done? thou didst fast and weep for the child, while it was alive; but when the child was dead, thou didst rise and eat bread.

அதற்கு அவன்: பிள்ளை இன்னும் உயிரோடிருக்கையில், பிள்ளை பிழைக்கும்படிக்குக் கர்த்தர் எனக்கு இரங்குவாரோ, எப்படியோ, யாருக்குத் தெரியும் என்று உபவாசித்து அழுதேன்.

And he said, While the child was yet alive, I fasted and wept: for I said, Who can tell whether GOD will be gracious to me, that the child may live?

அது மரித்திருக்கிற இப்போது நான் உபவாசிக்க வேண்டியது என்ன? இனி நான் அதைத் திரும்பிவரப்பண்ணக்கூடுமோ? நான் அதினிடத்துக்குப் போவேனே அல்லாமல், அது என்னிடத்துக்குத் திரும்பி வரப்போகிறது இல்லை என்றான்.

But now he is dead, wherefore should I fast? can I bring him back again? I shall go to him, but he shall not return to me.

பின்பு தாவீது தன் மனைவியாகிய பத்சேபாளுக்கு ஆறுதல் சொல்லி, அவளிடத்தில் போய், அவளோடே சயனித்தான்; அவள் ஒரு குமாரனைப் பெற்றாள்; அவனுக்குச் சாலோமோன் என்று பேரிட்டான்; அவனிடத்தில் கர்த்தர் அன்பாயிருந்தார்.

And David comforted Bathsheba his wife, and went in unto her, and lay with her: and she bare a son, and he called his name Solomon: and the LORD loved him.

அவர் தீர்க்கதரிசியாகிய நாத்தானை அனுப்ப, அவன் கர்த்தரின் நிமித்தம் அவனுக்கு யெதிதியா என்று பேரிட்டான்.

And he sent by the hand of Nathan the prophet; and he called his name Jedidiah, because of the LORD.

அதற்குள்ளே யோவாப் அம்மோன் புத்திரருடைய ரப்பா பட்டணத்தின்மேல் யுத்தம்பண்ணி, ராஜதானியைப் பிடித்து,

And Joab fought against Rabbah of the children of Ammon, and took the royal city.

தாவீதினிடத்தில் ஆள் அனுப்பி, நான் ரப்பாவின்மேல் யுத்தம்பண்ணி, தண்ணீர் ஓரமான பட்டணத்தைப் பிடித்துக்கொண்டேன்.

And Joab sent messengers to David, and said, I have fought against Rabbah, and have taken the city of waters.

நான் பட்டணத்தைப் பிடிக்கிறதினால், என் பேர் வழங்காதபடிக்கு, நீர் மற்ற ஜனங்களைக் கூட்டிக்கொண்டுவந்து, பட்டணத்தை முற்றிக்கைபோட்டு, பிடிக்கவேண்டும் என்று சொல்லச்சொன்னான்.

Now therefore gather the rest of the people together, and encamp against the city, and take it: lest I take the city, and it be called after my name.

அப்படியே தாவீது ஜனங்களையெல்லாம் கூட்டிக்கொண்டு, ரப்பாவுக்குப் போய், அதின்மேல் யுத்தம்பண்ணி, அதைப் பிடித்தான்.

And David gathered all the people together, and went to Rabbah, and fought against it, and took it.

அவர்களுடைய ராஜாவின் தலைமேலிருந்த கிரீடத்தை எடுத்துக்கொண்டான்; அது ஒரு தாலந்து நிறைபொன்னும், இரத்தினங்கள் பதித்ததுமாயிருந்தது; அது தாவீதினுடைய தலையில் வைக்கப்பட்டது; பட்டணத்திலிருந்து ஏராளமான கொள்ளையைக் கொண்டுபோனான்.

And he took their king's crown from off his head, the weight whereof was a talent of gold with the precious stones: and it was set on David's head. And he brought forth the spoil of the city in great abundance.

And he brought forth the people that were therein, and put them under saws, and under harrows of iron, and under axes of iron, and made them pass through the brickkiln: and thus did he unto all the cities of the children of Ammon. So David and all the people returned unto Jerusalem.

2சாமுவேல் அத்தியாயம் 13

இதற்குப்பின்பு தாவீதின் குமாரனாகிய அப்சலோமுக்குத் தாமார் என்னும் பேருள்ள சவுந்தரியமுள்ள ஒரு சகோதரி இருந்தாள்; அவள் மேல் தாவீதின் குமாரன் அம்னோன் மோகங்கொண்டான்.

And it came to pass after this, that Absalom the son of David had a fair sister, whose name was Tamar; and Amnon the son of David loved her.

தன் சகோதரியாகிய தாமாரினிமித்தம் ஏக்கங்கொண்டு வியாதிப்பட்டான்; அவள் கன்னியாஸ்திரீயாயிருந்தாள்; அவளுக்குப் பொல்லாப்புச் செய்ய, அம்னோனுக்கு வருத்தமாய்க் கண்டது.

And Amnon was so vexed, that he fell sick for his sister Tamar; for she was a virgin; and Amnon thought it hard for him to do any thing to her.

அம்னோனுக்குத் தாவீதுடைய தமையன் சிமியாவின் குமாரனாகிய யோனதாப் என்னும் பேருள்ள ஒரு சிநேகிதன் இருந்தான்; அந்த யோனதாப் மகா தந்திரவாதி.

But Amnon had a friend, whose name was Jonadab, the son of Shimeah David's brother: and Jonadab was a very subtil man.

அவன் இவனைப் பார்த்து: ராஜகுமாரனாகிய நீ, நாளுக்குநாள் எதினாலே இப்படி மெலிந்துபோகிறாய், எனக்குச் சொல்லமாட்டாயா என்றான். அதற்கு அம்னோன்: என் சகோதரன் அப்சலோமின் சகோதரியாகிய தாமாரின்மேல் நான் ஆசை வைத்திருக்கிறேன் என்றான்.

And he said unto him, Why art thou, being the king's son, lean from day to day? wilt thou not tell me? And Amnon said unto him, I love Tamar, my brother Absalom's sister.

அப்பொழுது யோனதாப் அவனைப் பார்த்து: நீ வியாதிக்காரனைப்போல உன் படுக்கையின்மேல் படுத்துக்கொள்; உன்னைப் பார்க்கிறதற்கு உன் தகப்பனார் வரும்போது, நீ, என் சகோதரியாகிய தாமார் வந்து, எனக்குப் போஜனம்கொடுத்து, அவள் கையினாலே சாப்பிடும்படிக்கு நான் பார்க்க, என் கண்களுக்கு முன்பாக சமைக்கும்படி தயவுசெய்யவேண்டும் என்று சொல் என்றான்.

And Jonadab said unto him, Lay thee down on thy bed, and make thyself sick: and when thy father cometh to see thee, say unto him, I pray thee, let my sister Tamar come, and give me meat, and dress the meat in my sight, that I may see it, and eat it at her hand.

அப்படியே அம்னோன் வியாதிக்காரன்போல் படுத்துக்கொண்டு, ராஜா தன்னைப் பார்க்கவந்தபோது, ராஜாவை நோக்கி: என் சகோதரியாகிய தாமார் வந்து நான் அவள் கையினாலே சாப்பிடும்படிக்கு, என் கண்களுக்கு முன்பாக இரண்டு நல்ல பணியாரங்களைப் பண்ணும்படி உத்தரவு கொடுக்கவேண்டும் என்றான்.

So Amnon lay down, and made himself sick: and when the king was come to see him, Amnon said unto the king, I pray thee, let Tamar my sister come, and make me a couple of cakes in my sight, that I may eat at her hand.

அப்பொழுது தாவீது: வீட்டுக்குத் தாமாரிடத்தில் ஆள் அனுப்பி, நீ உன் சகோதரனாகிய அம்னோன் வீட்டுக்குப் போய், அவனுக்கு சமையல் பண்ணிக்கொடு என்று சொல்லச்சொன்னான்.

Then David sent home to Tamar, saying, Go now to thy brother Amnon's house, and dress him meat.

தாமார் தன் சகோதரனாகிய அம்னோன் படுத்துக்கொண்டிருக்கிற வீட்டுக்குப்போய், மாவெடுத்துப் பிசைந்து, அவன் கண்களுக்கு முன்பாகத் தட்டி, பணியாரங்களைச் சுட்டு,

So Tamar went to her brother Amnon's house; and he was laid down. And she took flour, and kneaded it, and made cakes in his sight, and did bake the cakes.

சட்டியை எடுத்து, அவனுக்கு முன்பாக அவைகளை வைத்தாள்; ஆனாலும் அவன் சாப்பிடமாட்டேன் என்றான்; பின்பு அம்னோன்: எல்லாரும் என்னைவிட்டு வெளியே போகட்டும் என்றான்; எல்லாரும் அவனை விட்டு வெளியே போனார்கள்.

And she took a pan, and poured them out before him; but he refused to eat. And Amnon said, Have out all men from me. And they went out every man from him.

அப்பொழுது அம்னோன் தாமாரைப் பார்த்து: நான் உன் கையினாலே சாப்பிடும்படிக்கு, அந்தப் பலகாரத்தை அறை வீட்டிலே கொண்டுவா என்றான்; அப்படியே தாமார் தான் செய்த பணியாரங்களை அறை வீட்டில் இருக்கிற தன் சகோதரனாகிய அம்னோனிடத்தில் கொண்டுபோனாள்.

And Amnon said unto Tamar, Bring the meat into the chamber, that I may eat of thine hand. And Tamar took the cakes which she had made, and brought them into the chamber to Amnon her brother.

அவன் சாப்பிடும்படிக்கு அவள் அவைகளைக் கிட்ட கொண்டுவருகையில், அவன் அவளைப் பிடித்து, அவளைப் பார்த்து: என் சகோதரியே, நீ வந்து என்னோடே சயனி என்றான்.

And when she had brought them unto him to eat, he took hold of her, and said unto her, Come lie with me, my sister.

அதற்கு அவள்: வேண்டாம், என் சகோதரனே, என்னை அவமானப்படுத்தாதே, இஸ்ரவேலிலே இப்படிச் செய்யத்தகாது; இப்படிப்பட்ட மதிகேடான காரியத்தைச் செய்யவேண்டாம்.

And she answered him, Nay, my brother, do not force me; for no such thing ought to be done in Israel: do not thou this folly.

நான் என் வெட்கத்தோடே எங்கே போவேன்? நீயும் இஸ்ரவேலிலே மதிகெட்டவர்களில் ஒருவனைப்போல ஆவாய்; இப்போதும் நீ ராஜாவோடே பேசு, அவர் என்னை உனக்குத் தராமல் மறுக்க மாட்டார் என்றாள்.

And I, whither shall I cause my shame to go? and as for thee, thou shalt be as one of the fools in Israel. Now therefore, I pray thee, speak unto the king; for he will not withhold me from thee.

அவன் அவள் சொல்லைக் கேட்கமாட்டேன் என்று அவளைப் பலவந்தமாய்ப் பிடித்து, அவளோடே சயனித்து, அவளைக் கற்பழித்தான்.

Howbeit he would not hearken unto her voice: but, being stronger than she, forced her, and lay with her.

பிற்பாடு அம்னோன் அவளை மிகவும் வெறுத்தான்; அவன் அவளை விரும்பின விருப்பத்தைப் பார்க்கிலும், அவளை வெறுத்த வெறுப்பு அதிகமாயிருந்தது. ஆகையால்: நீ எழுந்து போய்விடு என்று அம்னோன் அவளோடே சொன்னான்.

Then Amnon hated her exceedingly; so that the hatred wherewith he hated her was greater than the love wherewith he had loved her. And Amnon said unto her, Arise, be gone.

அப்பொழுது அவள்: நீ எனக்கு முந்தி செய்த அநியாயத்தைப் பார்க்கிலும், இப்பொழுது என்னைத் துரத்திவிடுகிற அந்த அநியாயம் கொடுமையாயிருக்கிறது என்றாள்; ஆனாலும் அவன் அவள் சொல்லைக் கேட்க மனதில்லாமல்,

And she said unto him, There is no cause: this evil in sending me away is greater than the other that thou didst unto me. But he would not hearken unto her.

தன்னிடத்தில் சேவிக்கிற தன் வேலைக்காரனைக் கூப்பிட்டு: நீ இவளை என்னை விட்டு வெளியே தள்ளி, கதவைப் பூட்டு என்றான்.

Then he called his servant that ministered unto him, and said, Put now this woman out from me, and bolt the door after her.

அப்படியே அவனிடத்தில் சேவிக்கிறவன் அவளை வெளியே தள்ளி, கதவைப் பூட்டினான்; அவள் பலவர்ணமான வஸ்திரத்தை உடுத்திக்கொண்டிருந்தாள்; ராஜகுமாரத்திகளாகிய கன்னிகைகள் இப்படிக்கொத்த சால்வைகளைத் தரித்துக்கொள்வார்கள்.

And she had a garment of divers colours upon her: for with such robes were the king's daughters that were virgins apparelled. Then his servant brought her out, and bolted the door after her.

அப்பொழுது தாமார்: தன் தலையின்மேல் சாம்பலை வாரிப் போட்டுக்கொண்டு, தான் தரித்திருந்த பலவர்ணமான வஸ்திரத்தைக் கிழித்து, தன் கையைத் தன் தலையின்மேல் வைத்து, சத்தமிட்டு அழுதுகொண்டு போனாள்.

And Tamar put ashes on her head, and rent her garment of divers colours that was on her, and laid her hand on her head, and went on crying.

அப்பொழுது அவள் சகோதரனாகிய அப்சலோம் அவளைப் பார்த்து: உன் சகோதரனாகிய அம்னோன் உன்னோடிருந்தானோ? இப்போதும் என் சகோதரியே, நீ மவுனமாயிரு; அவன் உன்னுடைய சகோதரன்; இந்தக் காரியத்தை உன் மனதிலே வைக்காதே என்றான்; அப்படியே தாமார் தன் சகோதரனாகிய அப்சலோமின் வீட்டில் தனித்துக் கிலேசப்பட்டுக்கொண்டிருந்தாள்.

And Absalom her brother said unto her, Hath Amnon thy brother been with thee? but hold now thy peace, my sister: he is thy brother; regard not this thing. So Tamar remained desolate in her brother Absalom's house.

தாவீது ராஜா இந்தச் செய்திகளையெல்லாம் கேள்விப்பட்டபோது, வெகு கோபமாயெரிந்தான்.

But when king David heard of all these things, he was very wroth.

அப்சலோம் அம்னோனோடே நன்மையாகிலும் தீமையாகிலும் பேசவில்லை; தன் சகோதரியாகிய தாமாரை அம்னோன் கற்பழித்த காரியத்தினிமித்தம் அப்சலோம் அவனைப் பகைத்தான்.

And Absalom spake unto his brother Amnon neither good nor bad: for Absalom hated Amnon, because he had forced his sister Tamar.

இரண்டு வருஷம் சென்றபின்பு, அப்சலோம் எப்பிராயீமுக்குச் சமீபமான பாலாத்சோரிலே ஆட்களை வைத்து, ஆடுகளை மயிர்க்கத்தரிக்கிற வேலையில் இருந்தான்; அங்கே ராஜகுமாரர் எல்லாரையும் விருந்துக்கு அழைத்தான்.

And it came to pass after two full years, that Absalom had sheepshearers in Baalhazor, which is beside Ephraim: and Absalom invited all the king's sons.

அவன் ராஜாவினிடத்தில் போய், ஆட்களை வைத்து ஆடுகளை மயிர்கத்தரிக்கிறேன்; ராஜாவும் அவருடைய ஊழியக்காரரும் உமது அடியானோடே வரும்படி வேண்டிக்கொள்ளுகிறேன் என்றான்.

And Absalom came to the king, and said, Behold now, thy servant hath sheepshearers; let the king, I beseech thee, and his servants go with thy servant.

ராஜா அப்சலோமைப் பார்த்து: அப்படி வேண்டாம், என் மகனே; நாங்கள் எல்லாரும் வருவோமாகில் உனக்கு வெகு செலவுண்டாகும் என்றான்; அவனை வருந்திக்கேட்டாலும், அவன் போக மனதில்லாமல், அவனை ஆசீர்வதித்தான்.

And the king said to Absalom, Nay, my son, let us not all now go, lest we be chargeable unto thee. And he pressed him: howbeit he would not go, but blessed him.

அப்பொழுது அப்சலோம்: அது கூடாதிருந்தால், என் சகோதரனாகிய அம்னோனாவது எங்களோடே வரும்படி அவனுக்கு உத்தரவு செய்யும் என்றான். அதற்கு ராஜா: அவன் உன்னோடே வரவேண்டியது என்ன என்றான்.

Then said Absalom, If not, I pray thee, let my brother Amnon go with us. And the king said unto him, Why should he go with thee?

அப்சலோம் பின்னையும் அவனை வருந்திக் கேட்டுக்கொண்டபடியினால், அவன் அம்னோனையும், ராஜாவின் குமாரர் அனைவரையும் அவனோடே போகவிட்டான்.

But Absalom pressed him, that he let Amnon and all the king's sons go with him.

அப்சலோம் தன் வேலைக்காரரை நோக்கி: அம்னோன் திராட்சரசம் குடித்துக் களித்திருக்கும் சமயத்தை நன்றாய்ப் பார்த்திருங்கள்; அப்பொழுது நான்: அம்னோனை அடியுங்கள் என்று சொல்லுவேன்; உடனே நீங்கள் பயப்படாமல் அவனைக் கொன்றுபோடுங்கள்; நான் அல்லவோ அதை உங்களுக்குக் கட்டளையிடுகிறேன்; திடன்கொண்டு தைரியமாயிருங்கள் என்று சொல்லியிருந்தான்.

Now Absalom had commanded his servants, saying, Mark ye now when Amnon's heart is merry with wine, and when I say unto you, Smite Amnon; then kill him, fear not: have not I commanded you? be courageous, and be valiant.

அப்சலோம் கற்பித்தபடியே அப்சலோமின் வேலைக்காரர் அம்னோனுக்குச் செய்தார்கள்; அப்பொழுது ராஜகுமாரர் எல்லாரும் எழுந்திருந்து, அவரவர் தம் தம் கோவேறு கழுதையின்மேல் ஏறி ஓடிப்போனார்கள்.

And the servants of Absalom did unto Amnon as Absalom had commanded. Then all the king's sons arose, and every man gat him up upon his mule, and fled.

அவர்கள் வழியில் இருக்கிறபோதே, அப்சலோம் ராஜகுமாரரையெல்லாம் அடித்துக் கொன்றுபோட்டான், அவர்களில் ஒருவரும் மீந்திருக்க விடவில்லை என்கிறதாய், தாவீதுக்குச் செய்தி வந்தது.

And it came to pass, while they were in the way, that tidings came to David, saying, Absalom hath slain all the king's sons, and there is not one of them left.

அப்பொழுது ராஜா எழுந்திருந்து, தன் வஸ்திரங்களைக் கிழித்துக்கொண்டு, தரையிலே விழுந்து கிடந்தான்; அவன் ஊழியக்காரர் எல்லாரும் தங்கள் வஸ்திரங்களைக் கிழித்துக்கொண்டு நின்றார்கள்.

Then the king arose, and tare his garments, and lay on the earth; and all his servants stood by with their clothes rent.

அப்பொழுது தாவீதின் தமையனாகிய சிமியாவின் குமாரன் யோனதாப் வந்து: ராஜகுமாரரான வாலிபரையெல்லாம் கொன்று போட்டார்கள் என்று என் ஆண்டவன் நினைக்கவேண்டாம்; அம்னோன் மாத்திரம் செத்துப்போனான்; அவன் தன் சகோதரியாகிய தாமாரைக் கற்பழித்த நாள்முதற்கொண்டு, அது அப்சலோமின் நெஞ்சில் இருந்தது.

And Jonadab, the son of Shimeah David's brother, answered and said, Let not my lord suppose that they have slain all the young men the king's sons; for Amnon only is dead: for by the appointment of Absalom this hath been determined from the day that he forced his sister Tamar.

இப்போதும் ராஜகுமாரர்கள் எல்லாரும் செத்தார்கள் என்கிற பேச்சை ராஜாவாகிய என் ஆண்டவன் தம்முடைய மனதிலே வைக்கவேண்டாம்; அம்னோன் ஒருவனே செத்தான் என்றான்; அப்சலோம் ஓடிப்போனான்.

Now therefore let not my lord the king take the thing to his heart, to think that all the king's sons are dead: for Amnon only is dead.

ஜாமக்காரச் சேவகன் தன் கண்களை ஏறெடுத்துப் பார்த்தபோது, இதோ, அநேகம் ஜனங்கள் தனக்குப் பின்னாலே மலை ஓரமாய் வருகிறதைக் கண்டான்.

But Absalom fled. And the young man that kept the watch lifted up his eyes, and looked, and, behold, there came much people by the way of the hill side behind him.

அப்பொழுது யோனதாப் ராஜாவைப் பார்த்து: இதோ, ராஜகுமாரர் வருகிறார்கள்; உமது அடியேன் சொன்னபடியே ஆயிற்று என்றான்.

And Jonadab said unto the king, Behold, the king's sons come: as thy servant said, so it is.

அவன் பேசி முடிந்தபோது, ராஜகுமாரர் வந்து, சத்தமிட்டு அழுதார்கள்; ராஜாவும் அவனுடைய எல்லா ஊழியக்காரரும் மிகவும் புலம்பி அழுதார்கள்.

And it came to pass, as soon as he had made an end of speaking, that, behold, the king's sons came, and lifted up their voice and wept: and the king also and all his servants wept very sore.

அப்சலோமோ அம்மீயூதின் குமாரனாகிய தல்மாய் என்னும் கேசூரின் ராஜாவினிடத்திற்கு ஓடிப்போனான். தாவீது தினந்தோறும் தன் குமாரனுக்காகத் துக்கித்துக்கொண்டிருந்தான்.

But Absalom fled, and went to Talmai, the son of Ammihud, king of Geshur. And David mourned for his son every day.

அப்சலோம் கேசூருக்கு ஓடிப்போய், அங்கே மூன்று வருஷம் இருந்தான்.

So Absalom fled, and went to Geshur, and was there three years.

தாவீது ராஜா அம்னோன் செத்தபடியினால், அவனுக்காகத் துக்கித்து ஆறுதல் அடைந்தபோது அப்சலோமைப் பின்தொடரும் நினைவை விட்டுவிட்டான்.

And the soul of king David longed to go forth unto Absalom: for he was comforted concerning Amnon, seeing he was dead.

அன்பை நாடுங்கள்; ஞானவரங்களையும் விரும்புங்கள்; விசேஷமாய்த் தீர்க்கதரிசன வரத்தை விரும்புங்கள்.

Follow after charity, and desire spiritual gifts, but rather that ye may prophesy.

ஏனெனில், அந்நிய பாஷையில் பேசுகிறவன், ஆவியினாலே இரகசியங்களைப் பேசினாலும், அவன் பேசுகிறதை ஒருவனும் அறியாதிருக்கிறபடியினாலே, அவன் மனுஷரிடத்தில் பேசாமல், தேவனிடத்தில் பேசுகிறான்.

For he that speaketh in an unknown tongue speaketh not unto men, but unto God: for no man understandeth him; howbeit in the spirit he speaketh mysteries.

தீர்க்கதரிசனஞ்சொல்லுகிறவனோ மனுஷருக்கு பக்திவிருத்தியும், புத்தியும், ஆறுதலும் உண்டாகத்தக்கதாகப் பேசுகிறான்.

But he that prophesieth speaketh unto men to edification, and exhortation, and comfort.

அந்நியப்பாஷையில் பேசுகிறவன் தனக்கே பக்திவிருத்தி உண்டாகப்பேசுகிறான்; தீர்க்கதரிசனஞ் சொல்லுகிறவனோ சபைக்கு பக்திவிருத்தி உண்டாகப்பேசுகிறான்.

He that speaketh in an unknown tongue edifieth himself; but he that prophesieth edifieth the church.

நீங்களெல்லாரும் அந்நியபாஷைகளைப் பேசும்படி விரும்புகிறேன்; ஆகிலும், அந்நியபாஷைகளில் பேசுகிறவன் சபைக்குப் பக்திவிருத்தி உண்டாகும்படிக்கு அர்த்தத்தையும் சொல்லாவிட்டால், தீர்க்கதரிசனஞ் சொல்லுகிறவன் அவனிலும் மேன்மையுள்ளவன்; ஆதலால் நீங்கள் தீர்க்கதரிசனஞ் சொல்லுகிறவர்களாகவேண்டுமென்று அதிகமாய் விரும்புகிறேன்.

I would that ye all spake with tongues, but rather that ye prophesied: for greater is he that prophesieth than he that speaketh with tongues, except he interpret, that the church may receive edifying.

மேலும், சகோதரரே, நான் உங்களிடத்தில் வந்து உங்களுக்கு இரகசியங்களை வெளிப்படுத்துவதற்காவது, அறிவுண்டாக்குவதற்காவது, தீர்க்கதரிசனத்தை அறிவிக்கிறதற்காவது, போதகத்தைப் போதிக்கிறதற்காவது ஏதுவானதைச் சொல்லாமல், அந்நியபாஷைகளில் பேசினால் என்னாலே உங்களுக்குப் பிரயோஜனம் என்ன?

Now, brethren, if I come unto you speaking with tongues, what shall I profit you, except I shall speak to you either by revelation, or by knowledge, or by prophesying, or by doctrine?

அப்படியே புல்லாங்குழல், சுரமண்டலம் முதலாகிய சத்தமிடுகிற உயிரில்லாத வாத்தியங்கள் தொனிகளில் வித்தியாசம் காட்டாவிட்டால், குழலாலே ஊதப்படுகிறதும், சுரமண்டலத்தாலே வாசிக்கப்படுகிறதும் இன்னதென்று எப்படித் தெரியும்?

And even things without life giving sound, whether pipe or harp, except they give a distinction in the sounds, how shall it be known what is piped or harped?

அந்தப்படி எக்காளமும் விளங்காத சத்தமிட்டால் எவன் யுத்தத்திற்கு ஆயத்தம்பண்ணுவான்?

For if the trumpet give an uncertain sound, who shall prepare himself to the battle?

அதுபோல, நீங்களும் தெளிவான பேச்சை நாவினால் வசனியாவிட்டால் பேசப்பட்டது இன்னதென்று எப்படித் தெரியும்? ஆகாயத்தில் பேசுகிறவர்களாயிருப்பீர்களே.

So likewise ye, except ye utter by the tongue words easy to be understood, how shall it be known what is spoken? for ye shall speak into the air.

உலகத்திலே எத்தனையோவிதமான பாஷைகள் உண்டாயிருக்கிறது, அவைகளில் ஒன்றும் அர்த்தமில்லாததல்ல.

There are, it may be, so many kinds of voices in the world, and none of them is without signification.

ஆயினும், பாஷையின் கருத்தை நான் அறியாமலிருந்தால், பேசுகிறவனுக்கு அந்நியனாயிருப்பேன், பேசுகிறவனும் எனக்கு அந்நியனாயிருப்பான்.

Therefore if I know not the meaning of the voice, I shall be unto him that speaketh a barbarian, and he that speaketh shall be a barbarian unto me.

நீங்களும் ஆவிக்குரிய வரங்களை நாடுகிறவர்களானபடியால், சபைக்குப் பக்திவிருத்தி உண்டாகத்தக்கதாக அவைகளில் தேறும்படி நாடுங்கள்;

Even so ye, forasmuch as ye are zealous of spiritual gifts, seek that ye may excel to the edifying of the church.

அந்தப்படி அந்நியபாஷையில் பேசுகிறவன் அதின் அர்த்தத்தையும் சொல்லத்தக்கதாக விண்ணப்பம் பண்ணக்கடவன்.

Wherefore let him that speaketh in an unknown tongue pray that he may interpret.

என்னத்தினாலெனில், நான் அந்நியபாஷையிலே விண்ணப்பம்பண்ணினால் என் ஆவி விண்ணப்பம்பண்ணுமேயன்றி, என் கருத்து பயனற்றதாயிருக்கும்.

For if I pray in an unknown tongue, my spirit prayeth, but my understanding is unfruitful.

இப்படியிருக்க, செய்யவேண்டுவதென்ன? நான் ஆவியோடும் விண்ணப்பம்பண்ணுவேன்; கருத்தோடும் விண்ணப்பம்பண்ணுவேன்; நான் ஆவியோடும் பாடுவேன், கருத்தோடும் பாடுவேன்.

What is it then? I will pray with the spirit, and I will pray with the understanding also: I will sing with the spirit, and I will sing with the understanding also.

இல்லாவிட்டால், நீ ஆவியோடு ஸ்தோத்திரம்பண்ணும்போது, கல்லாதவன் உன் ஸ்தோத்திரத்திற்கு ஆமென் என்று எப்படிச் சொல்லுவான்? நீ பேசுகிறது இன்னதென்று அவன் அறியானே.

Else when thou shalt bless with the spirit, how shall he that occupieth the room of the unlearned say Amen at thy giving of thanks, seeing he understandeth not what thou sayest?

நீ நன்றாய் ஸ்தோத்திரம்பண்ணுகிறாய், ஆகிலும் மற்றவன் பக்திவிருத்தியடையமாட்டானே.

For thou verily givest thanks well, but the other is not edified.

உங்களெல்லாரிலும் நான் அதிகமாய்ப் பாஷைகளைப் பேசுகிறேன், இதற்காக என் தேவனை ஸ்தோத்திரிக்கிறேன்.

I thank my God, I speak with tongues more than ye all:

அப்படியிருந்தும், நான் சபையிலே அந்நியபாஷையில் பதினாயிரம் வார்த்தைகளைப் பேசுகிறதிலும், மற்றவர்களை உணர்த்தும்படி என் கருத்தோடே ஐந்து வார்த்தைகளைப் பேசுகிறதே எனக்கு அதிக விருப்பமாயிருக்கும்.

Yet in the church I had rather speak five words with my understanding, that by my voice I might teach others also, than ten thousand words in an unknown tongue.

சகோதரரே, நீங்கள் புத்தியிலே குழந்தைகளாயிராதேயுங்கள்; துர்க்குணத்திலே குழந்தைகளாயும், புத்தியிலோ தேறினவர்களாயுமிருங்கள்.

Brethren, be not children in understanding: howbeit in malice be ye children, but in understanding be men.

மறுபாஷைக்காரராலும், மறுவுதடுகளாலும் இந்த ஜனங்களிடத்தில் பேசுவேன்; ஆகிலும் அவர்கள் எனக்குச் செவிகொடுப்பதில்லையென்று கர்த்தர் சொல்லுகிறார் என்று வேதத்தில் எழுதியிருக்கிறதே.

In the law it is written, With men of other tongues and other lips will I speak unto this people; and yet for all that will they not hear me, saith the Lord.

அப்படியிருக்க, அந்நியபாஷைகள் விசுவாசிகளுக்கு அடையாளமாயிராமல், அவிசுவாசிகளுக்கு அடையாளமாயிருக்கிறது; தீர்க்கதரிசனமோ அவிசுவாசிகளுக்கு அடையாளமாயிராமல், விசுவாசிகளுக்கு அடையாளமாயிருக்கிறது.

Wherefore tongues are for a sign, not to them that believe, but to them that believe not: but prophesying serveth not for them that believe not, but for them which believe.

ஆகையால், சபையாரெல்லாரும் ஏகமாய்க் கூடிவந்து, எல்லாரும் அந்நியபாஷைகளிலே பேசிக்கொள்ளும்போது, கல்லாதவர்களாவது, அவிசுவாசிகளாவது உள்ளே பிரவேசித்தால், அவர்கள் உங்களைப் பைத்தியம் பிடித்தவர்களென்பார்களல்லவா?

If therefore the whole church be come together into one place, and all speak with tongues, and there come in those that are unlearned, or unbelievers, will they not say that ye are mad?

எல்லாரும் தீர்க்கதரிசனஞ் சொல்லுகையில், அவிசுவாசியொருவன், அல்லது கல்லாதவனொருவன், உள்ளே பிரவேசித்தால், அவன் எல்லாராலும் உணர்த்துவிக்கப்பட்டும், எல்லாராலும் நிதானிக்கப்பட்டும் இருப்பான்.

But if all prophesy, and there come in one that believeth not, or one unlearned, he is convinced of all, he is judged of all:

அவனுடைய இருதயத்தின் அந்தரங்கங்களும் வெளியரங்கமாகும்; அவன் முகங்குப்புற விழுந்து, தேவனைப்பணிந்துகொண்டு, தேவன் மெய்யாய் உங்களுக்குள்ளே இருக்கிறாரென்று அறிக்கையிடுவான்.

And thus are the secrets of his heart made manifest; and so falling down on his face he will worship God, and report that God is in you of a truth.

நீங்கள் கூடிவந்திருக்கிறபோது, உங்களில் ஒருவன் சங்கீதம் பாடுகிறான், ஒருவன் போதகம் பண்ணுகிறான், ஒருவன் அந்நியபாஷையைப் பேசுகிறான், ஒருவன் இரகசியத்தை வெளிப்படுத்துகிறான், ஒருவன் வியாக்கியானம்பண்ணுகிறான். சகோதரரே, இது என்ன? சகலமும் பக்திவிருத்திக்கேதுவாகச் செய்யப்படக்கடவது.

How is it then, brethren? when ye come together, every one of you hath a psalm, hath a doctrine, hath a tongue, hath a revelation, hath an interpretation. Let all things be done unto edifying.

யாராவது அந்நியபாஷையிலே பேசுகிறதுண்டானால், அது இரண்டுபேர்மட்டில், அல்லது மிஞ்சினால் மூன்றுபேர்மட்டில் அடங்கவும், அவர்கள் ஒவ்வொருவராய்ப் பேசவும், ஒருவன் அர்த்தத்தைச் சொல்லவும் வேண்டும்.

If any man speak in an unknown tongue, let it be by two, or at the most by three, and that by course; and let one interpret.

அர்த்தஞ் சொல்லுகிறவனில்லாவிட்டால், சபையிலே பேசாமல், தனக்கும் தேவனுக்கும் தெரியப் பேசக்கடவன்.

But if there be no interpreter, let him keep silence in the church; and let him speak to himself, and to God.

தீர்க்கதரிசிகள் இரண்டு பேராவது மூன்றுபேராவது பேசலாம், மற்றவர்கள் நிதானிக்கக்கடவர்கள்.

Let the prophets speak two or three, and let the other judge.

அங்கே உட்கார்ந்திருக்கிற மற்றொருவனுக்கு ஏதாகிலும் வெளிப்படுத்தப்பட்டால், முந்திப் பேசினவன் பேசாமலிருக்கக்கடவன்.

If any thing be revealed to another that sitteth by, let the first hold his peace.

எல்லாரும் கற்கிறதற்கும் எல்லாரும் தேறுகிறதற்கும், நீங்கள் அனைவரும் ஒவ்வொருவராகத் தீர்க்கதரிசனஞ்சொல்லலாம்.

For ye may all prophesy one by one, that all may learn, and all may be comforted.

தீர்க்கதரிசிகளுடைய ஆவிகள் தீர்க்கதரிசிகளுக்கு அடங்கியிருக்கிறதே.

And the spirits of the prophets are subject to the prophets.

தேவன் கலகத்திற்குத் தேவனாயிராமல், சமாதானத்திற்குத் தேவனாயிருக்கிறார்; பரிசுத்தவான்களுடைய சபைகளெல்லாவற்றிலேயும் அப்படியே இருக்கிறது.

For God is not the author of confusion, but of peace, as in all churches of the saints.

சபைகளில் உங்கள் ஸ்திரீகள் பேசாமலிருக்கக்கடவர்கள்; பேசும்படிக்கு அவர்களுக்கு உத்தரவில்லை; அவர்கள் அமர்ந்திருக்கவேண்டும்; வேதமும் அப்படியே சொல்லுகிறது.

Let your women keep silence in the churches: for it is not permitted unto them to speak; but they are commanded to be under obedience, as also saith the law.

அவர்கள் ஒரு காரியத்தைக் கற்றுக்கொள்ளவிரும்பினால், வீட்டிலே தங்கள் புருஷரிடத்தில் விசாரிக்கக்கடவர்கள்; ஸ்திரீகள் சபையிலே பேசுகிறது அயோக்கியமாயிருக்குமே.

And if they will learn any thing, let them ask their husbands at home: for it is a shame for women to speak in the church.

தேவவசனம் உங்களிடத்திலிருந்தா புறப்பட்டது? அது உங்களிடத்துக்கு மாத்திரமா வந்தது?

What? came the word of God out from you? or came it unto you only?

ஒருவன் தன்னைத் தீர்க்கதரிசியென்றாவது, ஆவியைப் பெற்றவனென்றாவது எண்ணினால், நான் உங்களுக்கு எழுதுகிறவைகள் கர்த்தருடைய கற்பனைகளென்று அவன் ஒத்துக்கொள்ளக்கடவன்.

If any man think himself to be a prophet, or spiritual, let him acknowledge that the things that I write unto you are the commandments of the Lord.

ஒருவன் அறியாதவனாயிருந்தால், அவன் அறியாதவனாயிருக்கட்டும்.

But if any man be ignorant, let him be ignorant.

இப்படியிருக்க, சகோதரரே, தீர்க்கதரிசனஞ்சொல்ல நாடுங்கள், அந்நியபாஷைகளைப் பேசுகிறதற்கும் தடைபண்ணாதிருங்கள்.

Wherefore, brethren, covet to prophesy, and forbid not to speak with tongues.

சகலமும் நல்லொழுக்கமாயும் கிரமமாயும் செய்யப்படக்கடவது.

Let all things be done decently and in order.
