2சாமுவேல் அத்தியாயம் 3

சவுலின் குடும்பத்துக்கும் தாவீதின் குடும்பத்துக்கும் நெடுநாள் யுத்தம் நடந்தது; தாவீது வரவர பலத்தான்; சவுலின் குடும்பத்தாரோ வரவர பலவீனப்பட்டுப்போனார்கள்.

Now there was long war between the house of Saul and the house of David: but David waxed stronger and stronger, and the house of Saul waxed weaker and weaker.

எப்ரோனிலே தாவீதுக்குப் பிறந்த குமாரர்: யெஸ்ரயேல் ஊராளான அகினோவாமிடத்திலே பிறந்த அம்னோன் அவனுக்கு முதல் பிறந்தவன்.

And unto David were sons born in Hebron: and his firstborn was Amnon, of Ahinoam the Jezreelitess;

நாபாலின் மனைவியாயிருந்த கர்மேல் ஊராளான அபிகாயிலிடத்திலே பிறந்த கீலேயாப் அவனுடைய இரண்டாம் குமாரன்; மூன்றாம் குமாரன் கேசூரின் ராஜாவான தல்மாய் குமாரத்தியாகிய மாக்காள் பெற்ற அப்சலோம் என்பவன்.

And his second, Chileab, of Abigail the wife of Nabal the Carmelite; and the third, Absalom the son of Maacah the daughter of Talmai king of Geshur;

நாலாம் குமாரன் ஆகீத் பெற்ற அதொனியா என்பவன்; ஐந்தாம் குமாரன் அபித்தால் பெற்ற செப்பத்தியா என்பவன்.

And the fourth, Adonijah the son of Haggith; and the fifth, Shephatiah the son of Abital;

ஆறாம் குமாரன் தாவீதின் மனைவியாகிய எக்லாளிடத்தில் பிறந்த இத்ரேயாம் என்பவன்; இவர்கள் எப்ரோனிலே தாவீதுக்குப் பிறந்தவர்கள்.

And the sixth, Ithream, by Eglah David's wife. These were born to David in Hebron.

சவுலின் குடும்பத்துக்கும் தாவீதின் குடும்பத்துக்கும் யுத்தம் நடந்து வருகிறபோது, அப்னேர் சவுலின் குடும்பத்திலே பலத்தவனானான்.

And it came to pass, while there was war between the house of Saul and the house of David, that Abner made himself strong for the house of Saul.

சவுலுக்கு ஆயாவின் குமாரத்தியாகிய ரிஸ்பாள் என்னும் பேருள்ள ஒரு மறுமனையாட்டி இருந்தாள்; இஸ்போசேத் அப்னேரை நோக்கி: நீ என் தகப்பனாருடைய மறுமனையாட்டியினிடத்தில் பிரவேசித்தது என்ன என்றான்.

And Saul had a concubine, whose name was Rizpah, the daughter of Aiah: and Ishbosheth said to Abner, Wherefore hast thou gone in unto my father's concubine?

Then was Abner very wroth for the words of Ishbosheth, and said, Am I a dog's head, which against Judah do shew kindness this day unto the house of Saul thy father, to his brethren, and to his friends, and have not delivered thee into the hand of David, that thou chargest me to day with a fault concerning this woman?

நான் ராஜ்யபாரத்தைச் சவுலின் குடும்பத்தை விட்டுத் தாண்டப்பண்ணி, தாவீதின் சிங்காசனத்தைத் தாண் துவக்கிப் பெயெர்செபாமட்டுமுள்ள இஸ்ரவேலின்மேலும் யூதாவின்மேலும் நிலைநிறுத்தும்படிக்கு,

So do God to Abner, and more also, except, as the LORD hath sworn to David, even so I do to him;

கர்த்தர் தாவீதுக்கு ஆணையிட்டபடியே, நான் அவனுக்குச் செய்யாமற்போனால், தேவன் அப்னேருக்கு அதற்குச் சரியாகவும் அதற்கு அதிகமாகவும் செய்யக்கடவர் என்றான்.

To translate the kingdom from the house of Saul, and to set up the throne of David over Israel and over Judah, from Dan even to Beersheba.

அப்பொழுது அவன் அப்னேருக்குப் பயப்பட்டதினால், அப்புறம் ஒரு மறுமொழியும் அவனுக்குச் சொல்லாதிருந்தான்.

And he could not answer Abner a word again, because he feared him.

அப்னேர் தன் நாமத்தினாலே தாவீதினிடத்திற்கு ஸ்தானாபதிகளை அனுப்பி: தேசம் யாருடையது? என்னோடு உடன்படிக்கைபண்ணும்; இதோ, இஸ்ரவேலையெல்லாம் உம்மிடத்தில் திருப்ப, என் கை உம்மோடிருக்கும் என்று சொல்லச் சொன்னான்.

And Abner sent messengers to David on his behalf, saying, Whose is the land? saying also, Make thy league with me, and, behold, my hand shall be with thee, to bring about all Israel unto thee.

And he said, Well; I will make a league with thee: but one thing I require of thee, that is, Thou shalt not see my face, except thou first bring Michal Saul's daughter, when thou comest to see my face.

அவன் சவுலின் குமாரனாகிய இஸ்போசேத்தினிடத்திற்கும் ஸ்தானாபதிகளை அனுப்பி: நான் பெலிஸ்தருடைய நூறு நுனித்தோல்களைப் பரிசமாகக் கொடுத்து, விவாகம்பண்ணின என் மனைவியாகிய மீகாளை அனுப்பிவிடும் என்று சொல்லச் சொன்னான்.

And David sent messengers to Ishbosheth Saul's son, saying, Deliver me my wife Michal, which I espoused to me for an hundred foreskins of the Philistines.

அப்பொழுது, இஸ்போசேத் அவளை லாயிசின் குமாரனாகிய பல்த்தியேல் என்னும் புருஷனிடத்திலிருந்து அழைத்து வர ஆட்களை அனுப்பினான்.

And Ishbosheth sent, and took her from her husband, even from Phaltiel the son of Laish.

அவள் புருஷன் பகூரீம் மட்டும் அவள் பிறகாலே அழுதுகொண்டு வந்தான். அப்னேர் அவனை நோக்கி: நீ திரும்பிப்போ என்றான்; அவன் திரும்பிப் போய்விட்டான்.

And her husband went with her along weeping behind her to Bahurim. Then said Abner unto him, Go, return. And he returned.

அப்னேர் இஸ்ரவேலின் மூப்பரோடே பேசி: தாவீதை உங்கள்மேல் ராஜாவாக வைக்கும்படிக்கு நீங்கள் அநேகநாளாய்த் தேடினீர்களே.

And Abner had communication with the elders of Israel, saying, Ye sought for David in times past to be king over you:

இப்போதும் அப்படிச் செய்யுங்கள்; என் தாசனாகிய தாவீதின் கையினால், என் ஜனமாகிய இஸ்ரவேலைப் பெலிஸ்தரின் கைக்கும், அவர்களுடைய எல்லாச் சத்துருக்களின் கைக்கும் நீங்கலாக்கி இரட்சிப்பேன் என்று கர்த்தர் தாவீதைக்குறித்துச் சொல்லியிருக்கிறாரே என்றான்.

Now then do it: for the LORD hath spoken of David, saying, By the hand of my servant David I will save my people Israel out of the hand of the Philistines, and out of the hand of all their enemies.

இந்தப்பிரகாரமாக அப்னேர் பென்யமீன் மனுஷர் காதுகள் கேட்கப் பேசினான்; பின்பு அப்னேர் இஸ்ரவேலர் பார்வைக்கும், பென்யமீனுடைய எல்லாக் குடும்பத்தாரின் பார்வைக்கும், சம்மதியானதையெல்லாம் எப்ரோனிலே தாவீதின் காதுகள் கேட்கப் பேசுகிறதற்குப் போனான்.

And Abner also spake in the ears of Benjamin: and Abner went also to speak in the ears of David in Hebron all that seemed good to Israel, and that seemed good to the whole house of Benjamin.

அப்னேரும், அவனோடேகூட இருபதுபேரும் எப்ரோனிலிருக்கிற தாவீதினிடத்தில் வந்தபோது, தாவீது அப்னேருக்கும், அவனோடே வந்த மனுஷருக்கும் விருந்துசெய்தான்.

So Abner came to David to Hebron, and twenty men with him. And David made Abner and the men that were with him a feast.

And Abner said unto David, I will arise and go, and will gather all Israel unto my lord the king, that they may make a league with thee, and that thou mayest reign over all that thine heart desireth. And David sent Abner away; and he went in peace.

தாவீதின் சேவகரும் யோவாபும் அநேகம் பொருட்களைக் கொள்ளையிட்டு, தண்டிலிருந்து கொண்டு வந்தார்கள்; அப்பொழுது அப்னேர் எப்ரோனில் தாவீதினிடத்தில் இல்லை; அவனை அனுப்பிவிட்டான்; அவன் சமாதானத்தோடே போய்விட்டான்.

And, behold, the servants of David and Joab came from pursuing a troop, and brought in a great spoil with them: but Abner was not with David in Hebron; for he had sent him away, and he was gone in peace.

யோவாபும் அவனோடிருந்த எல்லாச் சேனையும் வந்தபோது, நேரின் குமாரனாகிய அப்னேர் ராஜாவினிடத்தில் வந்தான் என்றும், அவர் அவனைச் சமாதானமாய்ப்போக அனுப்பிவிட்டார் என்றும், யோவாபுக்கு அறிவித்தார்கள்.

When Joab and all the host that was with him were come, they told Joab, saying, Abner the son of Ner came to the king, and he hath sent him away, and he is gone in peace.

அப்பொழுது யோவாப் ராஜாவண்டையில் பிரவேசித்து: என்ன செய்தீர்? இதோ, அப்னேர் உம்மிடத்தில் வந்தானே, நீர் அவனைப் போகவிட்டது என்ன?

Then Joab came to the king, and said, What hast thou done? behold, Abner came unto thee; why is it that thou hast sent him away, and he is quite gone?

நேரின் குமாரனாகிய அப்னேரை அறிவீரே; அவன் உம்மை மோசம் போக்கவும், உம்முடைய போக்குவரத்தை அறியவும், நீர் செய்கிறதையெல்லாம் ஆராயவும் வந்தான் என்று சொன்னான்.

Thou knowest Abner the son of Ner, that he came to deceive thee, and to know thy going out and thy coming in, and to know all that thou doest.

யோவாப் தாவீதை விட்டுப் புறப்பட்டவுடனே, அவன் அப்னேரைத் தாவீதுக்குத் தெரியாமல் கூட்டிக்கொண்டு வரும்படி ஆட்களை அனுப்பினான்; அவர்கள் சீரா என்னும் துரவுமட்டும் போய் அவனை அழைத்துக்கொண்டுவந்தார்கள்.

And when Joab was come out from David, he sent messengers after Abner, which brought him again from the well of Sirah: but David knew it not.

And when Abner was returned to Hebron, Joab took him aside in the gate to speak with him quietly, and smote him there under the fifth rib, that he died, for the blood of Asahel his brother.

And afterward when David heard it, he said, I and my kingdom are guiltless before the LORD for ever from the blood of Abner the son of Ner:

அது யோவாபுடைய தலையின் மேலும், அவன் தகப்பன் குடும்பத்தின் மேலும் சுமந்திருப்பதாக; யோவாபின் வீட்டாரிலே பிரமியக்காரனும், குஷ்டரோகியும், கோல் ஊன்றி நடக்கிறவனும், பட்டயத்தால் விழுகிறவனும், அப்பம் குறைச்சலுள்ளவனும், ஒருக்காலும் ஒழிந்துபோவதில்லை என்றான்.

Let it rest on the head of Joab, and on all his father's house; and let there not fail from the house of Joab one that hath an issue, or that is a leper, or that leaneth on a staff, or that falleth on the sword, or that lacketh bread.

அப்னேர் கிபியோனில் நடந்த யுத்தத்திலே தங்கள் தம்பியாகிய ஆசகேலைக் கொன்றதினிமித்தம் யோவாபும் அவன் சகோதரனாகிய அபிசாயும் அவனைச் சங்காரம்பண்ணினார்கள்.

So Joab and Abishai his brother slew Abner, because he had slain their brother Asahel at Gibeon in the battle.

தாவீது யோவாபையும், அவனோடிருந்த சகல ஜனங்களையும் பார்த்து: நீங்கள் உங்கள் வஸ்திரங்களைக் கிழித்துக்கொண்டு, இரட்டுடுத்தி, அப்னேருக்கு முன்னாக நடந்து துக்கங்கொண்டாடுங்கள் என்று சொல்லி, தாவீது ராஜா தானும் பாடைக்குப் பின்சென்றான்.

And David said to Joab, and to all the people that were with him, Rend your clothes, and gird you with sackcloth, and mourn before Abner. And king David himself followed the bier.

அவர்கள் அப்னேரை எப்ரோனிலே அடக்கம்பண்ணுகையில், ராஜா அப்னேரின் கல்லறையண்டையிலே சத்தமிட்டு அழுதான்; சகல ஜனங்களும் அழுதார்கள்.

And they buried Abner in Hebron: and the king lifted up his voice, and wept at the grave of Abner; and all the people wept.

ராஜா அப்னேருக்காகப் புலம்பி: மதிகெட்டவன் சாகிறதுபோல, அப்னேர் செத்துப்போனானோ?

And the king lamented over Abner, and said, Died Abner as a fool dieth?

உன் கைகள் கட்டப்படவும் இல்லை; உன் கால்களில் விலங்கு போடப்படவும் இல்லை; துஷ்டர் கையில் மடிகிறதுபோல மடிந்தாயே என்றான்; அப்பொழுது ஜனங்களெல்லாரும் பின்னும் அதிகமாய் அவனுக்காக அழுதார்கள்.

Thy hands were not bound, nor thy feet put into fetters: as a man falleth before wicked men, so fellest thou. And all the people wept again over him.

பொழுது இன்னும் இருக்கையில், ஜனங்கள் எல்லாரும் வந்து: அப்பம் புசியும் என்று தாவீதுக்குச் சொன்னபோது, தாவீது: சூரியன் அஸ்தமிக்கிறதற்கு முன்னே நான் அப்பத்தையாகிலும் வேறெதையாகிலும் ருசி பார்த்தால், தேவன் எனக்கு அதற்குச் சரியாகவும் அதற்கு அதிகமாகவும் செய்யக்கடவர் என்று ஆணையிட்டுச் சொன்னான்.

And when all the people came to cause David to eat meat while it was yet day, David sware, saying, So do God to me, and more also, if I taste bread, or ought else, till the sun be down.

ஜனங்கள் எல்லாரும் அதைக் கவனித்தார்கள், அது அவர்கள் பார்வைக்கு நன்றாயிருந்தது; அப்படியே ராஜா செய்ததெல்லாம் சகல ஜனங்களுக்கும் நலமாய்த் தோன்றினது.

And all the people took notice of it, and it pleased them: as whatsoever the king did pleased all the people.

நேரின் குமாரனாகிய அப்னேரைக் கொன்றுபோட்டது ராஜாவினால் உண்டானதல்லவென்று அந்நாளிலே சகல ஜனங்களும், இஸ்ரவேலர் அனைவரும் அறிந்துகொண்டார்கள்.

For all the people and all Israel understood that day that it was not of the king to slay Abner the son of Ner.

ராஜா தன் ஊழியக்காரரை நோக்கி: இன்றையதினம் இஸ்ரவேலில் பிரபுவும் பெரிய மனுஷனுமாகிய ஒருவன் விழுந்தான் என்று அறியீர்களா?

And the king said unto his servants, Know ye not that there is a prince and a great man fallen this day in Israel?

நான் ராஜாவாக அபிஷேகம்பண்ணப்பட்டவனாயிருந்தபோதிலும், நான் இன்னும் பலவீனன்; செருயாவின் குமாரராகிய இந்த மனுஷர் என் பலத்துக்கு மிஞ்சினவர்களாயிருக்கிறார்கள், அந்தப் பொல்லாப்பைச் செய்தவனுக்குக் கர்த்தர் அவன் பொல்லாப்புக்குத்தக்கதாய்ச் சரிக்கட்டுவாராக என்றான்.

And I am this day weak, though anointed king; and these men the sons of Zeruiah be too hard for me: the LORD shall reward the doer of evil according to his wickedness.

அப்னேர் எப்ரோனிலே செத்துப்போனதைச் சவுலின் குமாரன் கேட்டபோது, அவன் கைகள் திடனற்றுப்போயிற்று; இஸ்ரவேலரெல்லாரும் கலங்கினார்கள்.

And when Saul's son heard that Abner was dead in Hebron, his hands were feeble, and all the Israelites were troubled.

சவுலின் குமாரனுக்குப் படைத்தலைவரான இரண்டுபேர் இருந்தார்கள்; ஒருவனுக்குப் பேர் பானா, மற்றவனுக்குப் பேர் ரேகாப்; அவர்கள் பென்யமீன் புத்திரரில் பேரோத்தியனாகிய ரிம்மோனின் குமாரர்கள். பேரோத்தும் பென்யமீனுக்கு அடுத்ததாய் எண்ணப்பட்டது.

And Saul's son had two men that were captains of bands: the name of the one was Baanah, and the name of the other Rechab, the sons of Rimmon a Beerothite, of the children of Benjamin: (for Beeroth also was reckoned to Benjamin:

பேரோத்தியர் கித்தாயீமுக்கு ஓடிப்போய், இந்நாள் வரைக்கும் அங்கே சஞ்சரிக்கிறார்கள்.

And the Beerothites fled to Gittaim, and were sojourners there until this day.)

சவுலின் குமாரன் யோனத்தானுக்கு இரண்டு காலும் முடமான ஒரு குமாரன் இருந்தான்; சவுலும் யோனத்தானும் மடிந்த செய்தி யெஸ்ரயேலிலிருந்து வருகிறபோது, அவன் ஐந்து வயதுள்ளவனாயிருந்தான்; அப்பொழுது அவனுடைய தாதி அவனை எடுத்துக்கொண்டு ஓடிப்போனாள்; அவள் ஓடிப்போகிற அவசரத்தில் அவன் விழுந்து முடவனானான்: அவனுக்கு மேவிபோசேத் என்று பேர்.

And Jonathan, Saul's son, had a son that was lame of his feet. He was five years old when the tidings came of Saul and Jonathan out of Jezreel, and his nurse took him up, and fled: and it came to pass, as she made haste to flee, that he fell, and became lame. And his name was Mephibosheth.

பேரோத்தியனான அந்த ரிம்மோனின் குமாரராகிய ரேகாபும் பானாவும் போய், இஸ்போசேத் மத்தியானத்திலே வெய்யில் நேரத்தில் படுக்கையின்மேல் சயனித்திருக்கும்போது அவன் வீட்டிற்குள் பிரவேசித்து,

And the sons of Rimmon the Beerothite, Rechab and Baanah, went, and came about the heat of the day to the house of Ishbosheth, who lay on a bed at noon.

கோதுமை வாங்க வருகிறவர்கள்போல, நடுவீடுமட்டும் வந்து, அவனை வயிற்றிலே குத்திப்போட்டார்கள்; பின்பு ரேகாபும் அவன் சகோதரன் பானாவும் தப்பி ஓடிப்போனார்கள்.

And they came thither into the midst of the house, as though they would have fetched wheat; and they smote him under the fifth rib: and Rechab and Baanah his brother escaped.

அவன் தன் பள்ளி அறையிலே தன் கட்டிலின்மேல் படுத்திருக்கும்போது இவர்கள் உள்ளே போய், அவனைக் குத்திக்கொன்று போட்டு, அவன் தலையை வெட்டிப்போட்டார்கள்; பின்பு அவன் தலையை எடுத்துக்கொண்டு, இராமுழுதும் அந்தரவெளி வழியாய் நடந்து,

For when they came into the house, he lay on his bed in his bedchamber, and they smote him, and slew him, and beheaded him, and took his head, and gat them away through the plain all night.

எப்ரோனிலிருக்கிற தாவீதினிடத்தில் இஸ்போசேத்தின் தலையைக்கொண்டுவந்து, ராஜாவை நோக்கி: இதோ, உம்முடைய பிராணனை வாங்கத்தேடின உம்முடைய சத்துருவாயிருந்த சவுலின் குமாரனாகிய இஸ்போசேத்தின் தலை; இன்றையதினம் கர்த்தர் ராஜாவாகிய எங்கள் ஆண்டவனுக்காகச் சவுலின் கையிலும் அவன் குடும்பத்தாரின் கையிலும் பழிவாங்கினார் என்றார்கள்.

And they brought the head of Ishbosheth unto David to Hebron, and said to the king, Behold the head of Ishbosheth the son of Saul thine enemy, which sought thy life; and the LORD hath avenged my lord the king this day of Saul, and of his seed.

ஆனாலும் தாவீது பேரோத்தியனான ரிம்மோனின் குமாரராகிய ரேகாபுக்கும், அவன் சகோதரன் பானாவுக்கும் பிரதியுத்தரமாக: என் ஆத்துமாவை எல்லா இக்கட்டுக்கும் நீங்கலாக்கி மீட்ட கர்த்தருடைய ஜீவனைக்கொண்டு நான் சொல்லுகிறதைக் கேளுங்கள்.

And David answered Rechab and Baanah his brother, the sons of Rimmon the Beerothite, and said unto them, As the LORD liveth, who hath redeemed my soul out of all adversity,

இதோ, ஒருவன் எனக்கு நற்செய்தி கொண்டுவருகிறவன் என்று எண்ணி, சவுல் செத்துப்போனான் என்று எனக்கு அறிவித்து, தனக்கு வெகுமானம் கிடைக்கும் என்று நினைத்தபோது, அவனை நான் பிடித்து சிக்லாகிலே கொன்றுபோட்டேனே.

When one told me, saying, Behold, Saul is dead, thinking to have brought good tidings, I took hold of him, and slew him in Ziklag, who thought that I would have given him a reward for his tidings:

தமது வீட்டிற்குள் தமது படுக்கையின்மேல் படுத்திருந்த நீதிமானைக் கொலை செய்த பொல்லாத மனுஷருக்கு எவ்வளவு அதிகமாய் ஆக்கினை செய்யவேண்டும்? இப்போதும் நான் அவருடைய இரத்தப்பழியை உங்கள் கைகளில் வாங்கி, உங்களை பூமியிலிருந்து அழித்துப்போடாதிருப்பேனோ என்று சொல்லி,

How much more, when wicked men have slain a righteous person in his own house upon his bed? shall I not therefore now require his blood of your hand, and take you away from the earth?

அவர்களைக் கொன்று போடவும், அவர்கள் கைகளையும் கால்களையும் தறித்து, எப்ரோனிலிருக்கிற குளத்தண்டையிலே தூக்கிப்போடவும் தன் சேவகருக்குக் கட்டளையிட்டான். இஸ்போசேத்தின் தலையை எடுத்து, எப்ரோனிலிருக்கிற அப்னேரின் கல்லறையிலே அடக்கம்பண்ணினார்கள்.

And David commanded his young men, and they slew them, and cut off their hands and their feet, and hanged them up over the pool in Hebron. But they took the head of Ishbosheth, and buried it in the sepulchre of Abner in Hebron.

நீங்கள் எனக்கு எழுதின காரியங்களைக்குறித்து நான் எழுதுகிறதென்னவென்றால், ஸ்திரீயைத் தொடாமலிருக்கிறது மனுஷனுக்கு நல்லது.

Now concerning the things whereof ye wrote unto me: It is good for a man not to touch a woman.

ஆகிலும் வேசித்தனம் இராதபடிக்கு அவனவன் தன் சொந்த மனைவியையும், அவளவள் தன் சொந்தப் புருஷனையும் உடையவர்களாயிருக்கவேண்டும்.

Nevertheless, to avoid fornication, let every man have his own wife, and let every woman have her own husband.

புருஷன் தன் மனைவிக்குச் செய்யவேண்டிய கடமையைச் செய்யக்கடவன்; அப்படியே மனைவியும் தன் புருஷனுக்குச் செய்யக்கடவள்.

Let the husband render unto the wife due benevolence: and likewise also the wife unto the husband.

மனைவியானவள் தன் சுயசரீரத்திற்கு அதிகாரியல்ல, புருஷனே அதற்கு அதிகாரி; அப்படியே புருஷனும் தன் சுயசரீரத்திற்கு அதிகாரியல்ல, மனைவியே அதற்கு அதிகாரி.

The wife hath not power of her own body, but the husband: and likewise also the husband hath not power of his own body, but the wife.

உபவாசத்திற்கும் ஜெபத்திற்கும் தடையிராதபடிக்கு இருவரும் சிலகாலம் பிரிந்திருக்கவேண்டுமென்று சம்மதித்தாலன்றி, ஒருவரைவிட்டு ஒருவர் பிரியாதிருங்கள்; உங்களுக்கு விரதத்துவம் இல்லாமையால் சாத்தான் உங்களைத் தூண்டிவிடாதபடிக்கு, மறுபடியும் கூடிவாழுங்கள்.

Defraud ye not one the other, except it be with consent for a time, that ye may give yourselves to fasting and prayer; and come together again, that Satan tempt you not for your incontinency.

இதை நான் கட்டளையாகச் சொல்லாமல், யோசனையாகச் சொல்லுகிறேன்.

But I speak this by permission, and not of commandment.

எல்லா மனுஷரும் என்னைப்போலவே இருக்க விரும்புகிறேன். ஆகிலும் அவனவனுக்கு தேவனால் அருளப்பட்ட அவனவனுக்குரிய வரமுண்டு; அது ஒருவனுக்கு ஒருவிதமாயும், மற்றொருவனுக்கு வேறுவிதமாயும் இருக்கிறது.

For I would that all men were even as I myself. But every man hath his proper gift of God, one after this manner, and another after that.

விவாகமில்லாதவர்களையும், கைம்பெண்களையும்குறித்து நான் சொல்லுகிறது என்னவென்றால், அவர்கள் என்னைப்போல இருந்துவிட்டால் அவர்களுக்கு நலமாயிருக்கும்.

I say therefore to the unmarried and widows, It is good for them if they abide even as I.

ஆகிலும் அவர்கள் விரத்தராயிருக்கக்கூடாதிருந்தால் விவாகம்பண்ணக்கடவர்கள்; வேகிறதைப்பார்க்கிலும் விவாகம்பண்ணுகிறது நலம்.

But if they cannot contain, let them marry: for it is better to marry than to burn.

விவாகம்பண்ணிக்கொண்டவர்களுக்கு நானல்ல, கர்த்தரே கட்டளையிடுகிறதாவது: மனைவியானவள் தன் புருஷனை விட்டுப்பிரிந்து போகக்கூடாது.

And unto the married I command, yet not I, but the Lord, Let not the wife depart from her husband:

பிரிந்துபோனால் அவள் விவாகமில்லாதிருக்கக்கடவள், அல்லது புருஷனோடே ஒப்புரவாகக்கடவள்; புருஷனும் தன் மனைவியைத் தள்ளிவிடக்கூடாது.

But and if she depart, let her remain unmarried, or be reconciled to her husband: and let not the husband put away his wife.

மற்றவர்களைக்குறித்துக் கர்த்தர் அல்ல, நானே சொல்லுகிறதாவது: சகோதரனொருவனுடைய மனைவி அவிசுவாசியாயிருந்தும், அவனுடனே வாசமாயிருக்க அவளுக்குச் சம்மதமிருந்தால், அவன் அவளைத் தள்ளிவிடாதிருக்கக்கடவன்.

But to the rest speak I, not the Lord: If any brother hath a wife that believeth not, and she be pleased to dwell with him, let him not put her away.

அப்படியே ஒரு ஸ்திரீயினுடைய புருஷன் அவிசுவாசியாயிருந்தும், அவளுடனே வாசமாயிருக்க அவனுக்குச் சம்மதமிருந்தால், அவள் அவனைத் தள்ளிவிடாதிருக்கக்கடவள்.

And the woman which hath an husband that believeth not, and if he be pleased to dwell with her, let her not leave him.

என்னத்தினாலெனில், அவிசுவாசியான புருஷன் தன் மனைவியால் பரிசுத்தமாக்கப்படுகிறான்; அவிசுவாசியான மனைவியும் தன் புருஷனால் பரிசுத்தமாக்கப்படுகிறாள். இல்லாவிட்டால் உங்கள் பிள்ளைகள் அசுத்தமாயிருக்குமே; இப்பொழுதோ அவைகள் பரிசுத்தமாயிருக்கின்றன.

For the unbelieving husband is sanctified by the wife, and the unbelieving wife is sanctified by the husband: else were your children unclean; but now are they holy.

ஆகிலும், அவிசுவாசி பிரிந்துபோனால் பிரிந்துபோகட்டும், இப்படிப்பட்ட விஷயத்தில் சகோதரனாவது சகோதரியாவது அடிமைப்பட்டவர்களல்ல. சமாதானமாயிருக்கும்படிக்கே தேவன் நம்மை அழைத்திருக்கிறார்.

But if the unbelieving depart, let him depart. A brother or a sister is not under bondage in such cases: but God hath called us to peace.

மனைவியானவளே, நீ உன் புருஷனை இரட்சிப்பாயோ அல்லவோ உனக்கு எப்படித் தெரியும்? புருஷனே, நீ உன் மனைவியை இரட்சிப்பாயோ அல்லவோ உனக்கு எப்படித் தெரியும்?

For what knowest thou, O wife, whether thou shalt save thy husband? or how knowest thou, O man, whether thou shalt save thy wife?

தேவன் அவனவனுக்குப் பகிர்ந்ததெப்படியோ, கர்த்தர் அவனவனை அழைத்ததெப்படியோ, அப்படியே அவனவன் நடக்கக்கடவன். எல்லாச் சபைகளிலேயும் இப்படியே திட்டம்பண்ணுகிறேன்.

But as God hath distributed to every man, as the Lord hath called every one, so let him walk. And so ordain I in all churches.

ஒருவன் விருத்தசேதனம் பெற்றவனாய் அழைக்கப்பட்டிருந்தால், விருத்தசேதனமில்லாதவனாயிருக்க வகைதேடானாக; ஒருவன் விருத்தசேதனமில்லாதவனாய் அழைக்கப்பட்டிருந்தால், விருத்தசேதனம் பெறாதிருப்பானாக.

Is any man called being circumcised? let him not become uncircumcised. Is any called in uncircumcision? let him not be circumcised.

விருத்தசேதனமும் ஒன்றுமில்லை, விருத்தசேதனமில்லாமையும் ஒன்றுமில்லை; தேவனுடைய கற்பனைகளைக் கைக்கொள்ளுகிறதே காரியம்.

Circumcision is nothing, and uncircumcision is nothing, but the keeping of the commandments of God.

அவனவன் தான் அழைக்கப்பட்ட நிலைமையிலே நிலைத்திருக்கக்கடவன்.

Let every man abide in the same calling wherein he was called.

அடிமையாய் நீ அழைக்கப்பட்டிருந்தால், கவலைப்படாதே; நீ சுயாதீனனாகக்கூடுமானால் அதை நலமென்று அநுசரித்துக்கொள்.

Art thou called being a servant? care not for it: but if thou mayest be made free, use it rather.

கர்த்தருக்குள் அழைக்கப்பட்ட அடிமையானவன் கர்த்தருடைய சுயாதீனனாயிருக்கிறான்; அப்படியே அழைக்கப்பட்ட சுயாதீனன் கிறிஸ்துவினுடைய அடிமையாயிருக்கிறான்.

For he that is called in the Lord, being a servant, is the Lord's freeman: likewise also he that is called, being free, is Christ's servant.

நீங்கள் கிரயத்துக்குக் கொள்ளப்பட்டீர்கள்; மனுஷருக்கு அடிமைகளாகாதிருங்கள்.

Ye are bought with a price; be not ye the servants of men.

சகோதரரே, அவனவன் தான் அழைக்கப்பட்ட நிலைமையிலே தேவனுக்கு முன்பாக நிலைத்திருக்கக்கடவன்.

Brethren, let every man, wherein he is called, therein abide with God.

அன்றியும் கன்னிகைகளைக்குறித்து, கர்த்தரால் எனக்குக் கட்டளை இல்லை. ஆகிலும் நான் உண்மையுள்ளவனாயிருக்கிறதற்குக் கர்த்தரால் இரக்கம்பெற்று, என் அபிப்பிராயத்தைத் தெரியப்படுத்துகிறேன்.

Now concerning virgins I have no commandment of the Lord: yet I give my judgment, as one that hath obtained mercy of the Lord to be faithful.

அதென்னவெனில், இப்பொழுது உண்டாயிருக்கிற துன்பத்தினிமித்தம் விவாகமில்லாமலிருக்கிறது மனுஷனுக்கு நலமாயிருக்குமென்று எண்ணுகிறேன்.

I suppose therefore that this is good for the present distress, I say, that it is good for a man so to be.

நீ மனைவியோடே கட்டப்பட்டிருந்தால், அவிழ்க்கப்பட வகைதேடாதே; நீ மனைவி இல்லாதவனாயிருந்தால். மனைவியைத் தேடாதே.

Art thou bound unto a wife? seek not to be loosed. Art thou loosed from a wife? seek not a wife.

நீ விவாகம்பண்ணினாலும் பாவமல்ல; கன்னிகை விவாகம்பண்ணினாலும் பாவமல்ல. ஆகிலும் அப்படிப்பட்டவர்கள் சரீரத்திலே உபத்திரவப்படுவார்கள்; அதற்கு நீங்கள் தப்பவேண்டுமென்றிருக்கிறேன்.

But and if thou marry, thou hast not sinned; and if a virgin marry, she hath not sinned. Nevertheless such shall have trouble in the flesh: but I spare you.

மேலும், சகோதரரே, நான் சொல்லுகிறதென்னவெனில், இனிவரும் காலம் குறுகினதானபடியால், மனைவிகளுள்ளவர்கள் மனைவிகளில்லாதவர்கள்போலவும்,

But this I say, brethren, the time is short: it remaineth, that both they that have wives be as though they had none;

அழுகிறவர்கள் அழாதவர்கள்போலவும், சந்தோஷப்படுகிறவர்கள் சந்தோஷப்படாதவர்கள்போலவும், கொள்ளுகிறவர்கள் கொள்ளாதவர்கள்போலவும்,

And they that weep, as though they wept not; and they that rejoice, as though they rejoiced not; and they that buy, as though they possessed not;

இவ்வுலகத்தை அனுபவிக்கிறவர்கள் அதைத் தகாதவிதமாய் அனுபவியாதவர்கள்போலவும் இருக்கவேண்டும்; இவ்வுலகத்தின் வேஷம் கடந்துபோகிறதே.

And they that use this world, as not abusing it: for the fashion of this world passeth away.

நீங்கள் கவலையற்றவர்களாயிருக்க விரும்புகிறேன். விவாகமில்லாதவன் கர்த்தருக்கு எப்படிப் பிரியமாயிருக்கலாமென்று, கர்த்தருக்குரியவைகளுக்காகக் கவலைப்படுகிறான்.

But I would have you without carefulness. He that is unmarried careth for the things that belong to the Lord, how he may please the Lord:

விவாகம்பண்ணினவன் தன் மனைவிக்கு எப்படிப் பிரியமாயிருக்கலாமென்று, உலகத்திற்குரியவைகளுக்காகக் கவலைப்படுகிறான்.

But he that is married careth for the things that are of the world, how he may please his wife.

அதுபோல, மனைவியானவளுக்கும், கன்னிகைக்கும் வித்தியாசமுண்டு. விவாகமில்லாதவள் சரீரத்திலும் ஆத்துமாவிலும் பரிசுத்தமாயிருக்கும்படி, கர்த்தருக்குரியவைகளுக்காகக் கவலைப்படுகிறாள்; விவாகம்பண்ணினவள் தன் புருஷனுக்கு எப்படிப் பிரியமாயிருக்கலாமென்று, உலகத்திற்குரியவைகளுக்காகக் கவலைப்படுகிறாள்.

There is difference also between a wife and a virgin. The unmarried woman careth for the things of the Lord, that she may be holy both in body and in spirit: but she that is married careth for the things of the world, how she may please her husband.

இதை நான் உங்களைக் கண்ணியில் அகப்படுத்தவேண்டுமென்று சொல்லாமல், உங்களுக்குத் தகுதியாயிருக்குமென்றும், நீங்கள் கவலையில்லாமல் கர்த்தரைப் பற்றிக்கொண்டிருக்கவேண்டுமென்றும், உங்கள் சுயபிரயோஜனத்துக்காகவே சொல்லுகிறேன்.

And this I speak for your own profit; not that I may cast a snare upon you, but for that which is comely, and that ye may attend upon the Lord without distraction.

ஆகிலும் ஒருவன் தன் புத்திரியின் கன்னிகைப்பருவம் கடந்துபோனதினாலே, அவள் விவாகம் பண்ணாமலிருப்பது அவளுக்குத் தகுதியல்லவென்றும், அவள் விவாகம்பண்ணுவது அவசியமென்றும் நினைத்தால், அவன் தன் மனதின்படி செய்யக்கடவன்; அது பாவமல்ல, விவாகம்பண்ணட்டும்.

But if any man think that he behaveth himself uncomely toward his virgin, if she pass the flower of her age, and need so require, let him do what he will, he sinneth not: let them marry.

ஆயினும் அதற்கு அவசியத்தைக் காணாமல், தன் இருதயத்திலே உறுதியுள்ளவனாயும், சுயசித்தத்தின்படி செய்ய அதிகாரமுள்ளவனாயுமிருந்து, தன் புத்திரியின் கன்னிகைப் பருவத்தைக் காக்கவேண்டுமென்று தன் இருதயத்தில் தீர்மானிக்கிறவன் நன்மைசெய்கிறான்.

Nevertheless he that standeth stedfast in his heart, having no necessity, but hath power over his own will, and hath so decreed in his heart that he will keep his virgin, doeth well.

இப்படியிருக்க, அவளை விவாகம்பண்ணிக் கொடுக்கிறவனும் நன்மைசெய்கிறான்; கொடாமலிருக்கிறவனும் அதிக நன்மைசெய்கிறான்.

So then he that giveth her in marriage doeth well; but he that giveth her not in marriage doeth better.

மனைவியானவள் தன் புருஷன் உயிரோடிருக்குங்காலமளவும் பிரமாணத்தினால் கட்டப்பட்டிருக்கிறாள்; தன் புருஷன் மரித்தபின்பு தனக்கு இஷ்டமானவனாயும் கர்த்தருக்குட்பட்டவனாயுமிருக்கிற எவனையாகிலும் விவாகம்பண்ணிக்கொள்ள விடுதலையாயிருக்கிறாள்.

The wife is bound by the law as long as her husband liveth; but if her husband be dead, she is at liberty to be married to whom she will; only in the Lord.

ஆகிலும் என்னுடைய அபிப்பிராயத்தின்படி அவள் அப்படியே இருந்துவிட்டால் பாக்கியவதியாயிருப்பாள். என்னிடத்திலும் தேவனுடைய ஆவி உண்டென்று எண்ணுகிறேன்.

But she is happier if she so abide, after my judgment: and I think also that I have the Spirit of God.
