1இராஜாக்கள் அத்தியாயம் 3

சாலொமோன் எகிப்தின் ராஜாவாகிய பார்வோனோடே சம்பந்தங்கலந்து, பார்வோனின் குமாரத்தியை விவாகம்பண்ணி, தன்னுடைய அரமனையையும் கர்த்தருடைய ஆலயத்தையும் எருசலேமின் சுற்றுமதிலையும் கட்டித் தீருமட்டும் அவன்அவளைத் தாவீதின் நகரத்தில் கொண்டுவந்து வைத்தான்.

And Solomon made affinity with Pharaoh king of Egypt, and took Pharaoh's daughter, and brought her into the city of David, until he had made an end of building his own house, and the house of the LORD, and the wall of Jerusalem round about.

அந்நாட்கள் மட்டும் கர்த்தருடைய நாமத்திற்கு ஒரு ஆலயம் கட்டப்படாதிருந்ததினால், ஜனங்கள் மேடைகளிலே பலியிட்டு வந்தார்கள்.

Only the people sacrificed in high places, because there was no house built unto the name of the LORD, until those days.

சாலொமோன் கர்த்தரிடத்தில் அன்புகூர்ந்து, தன் தகப்பனாகிய தாவீதின் கட்டளைகளில் நடந்தான்; ஆனாலும் அவன் மேடைகளிலே பலியிட்டுத் தூபங்காட்டி வந்தான்.

And Solomon loved the LORD, walking in the statutes of David his father: only he sacrificed and burnt incense in high places.

அப்படியே ராஜா பலியிட கிபியோனுக்குப் போனான்; அது பெரிய மேடையாயிருந்தது; அந்தப் பலிபீடத்தின்மேல் சாலொமோன் ஆயிரம் சர்வாங்க தகனபலிகளைச் செலுத்தினான்.

And the king went to Gibeon to sacrifice there; for that was the great high place: a thousand burnt offerings did Solomon offer upon that altar.

கிபியோனிலே கர்த்தர் சாலொமோனுக்கு இராத்திரியில் சொப்பனத்திலே தரிசனமாகி: நீ விரும்புகிறதை என்னிடத்தில் கேள் என்று தேவன் சொன்னார்.

In Gibeon the LORD appeared to Solomon in a dream by night: and God said, Ask what I shall give thee.

அதற்குச் சாலொமோன்: என் தகப்பனாகிய தாவீது என்னும் உமது அடியான் உம்மைப்பற்றி உண்மையும் நீதியும் மனநேர்மையுமாய் உமக்கு முன்பாக நடந்தபடியே தேவரீர் அவருக்குப் பெரிய கிருபைசெய்து, அந்தப் பெரிய கிருபையை அவருக்குக் காத்து, இந்நாளில் இருக்கிறபடியே அவருடைய சிங்காசனத்தில் வீற்றிருக்கிற ஒரு குமாரனை அவருக்குத் தந்தீர்.

And Solomon said, Thou hast shewed unto thy servant David my father great mercy, according as he walked before thee in truth, and in righteousness, and in uprightness of heart with thee; and thou hast kept for him this great kindness, that thou hast given him a son to sit on his throne, as it is this day.

இப்போதும் என் தேவனாகிய கர்த்தாவே, தேவரீர் உமது அடியேனை என் தகப்பனாகிய தாவீதின் ஸ்தானத்திலே ராஜாவாக்கினீரே, நானோவென்றால் போக்கு வரவு அறியாத சிறுபிள்ளையாயிருக்கிறேன்.

And now, O LORD my God, thou hast made thy servant king instead of David my father: and I am but a little child: I know not how to go out or come in.

நீர் தெரிந்துகொண்டதும் ஏராளத்தினால் எண்ணிக்கைக்கு அடங்காததும் இலக்கத்திற்கு உட்படாததுமான திரளான ஜனங்களாகிய உமது ஜனத்தின் நடுவில் அடியேன் இருக்கிறேன்.

And thy servant is in the midst of thy people which thou hast chosen, a great people, that cannot be numbered nor counted for multitude.

ஆகையால் உமது ஜனங்களை நியாயம் விசாரிக்கவும், நன்மை தீமை இன்னதென்று வகையறுக்கவும், அடியேனுக்கு ஞானமுள்ள இருதயத்தைத் தந்தருளும்; ஏராளமாயிருக்கிற இந்த உமது ஜனங்களை நியாயம் விசாரிக்க யாராலே ஆகும் என்றான்.

Give therefore thy servant an understanding heart to judge thy people, that I may discern between good and bad: for who is able to judge this thy so great a people?

சாலொமோன் இந்தக் காரியத்தைக் கேட்டது ஆண்டவருடைய பார்வைக்கு உகந்த விண்ணப்பமாயிருந்தது.

And the speech pleased the Lord, that Solomon had asked this thing.

ஆகையினால் தேவன் அவனை நோக்கி: நீ உனக்கு நீடித்த நாட்களைக் கேளாமலும், ஐசுவரியத்தைக் கேளாமலும், உன் சத்துருக்களின் பிராணனைக் கேளாமலும், நீ இந்தக் காரியத்தையே கேட்டு, நியாயம் விசாரிக்கிறதற்கு ஏற்ற ஞானத்தை உனக்கு வேண்டிக்கொண்டபடியினால்,

And God said unto him, Because thou hast asked this thing, and hast not asked for thyself long life; neither hast asked riches for thyself, nor hast asked the life of thine enemies; but hast asked for thyself understanding to discern judgment;

உன் வார்த்தைகளின்படி செய்தேன்; ஞானமும் உணர்வுமுள்ள இருதயத்தை உனக்குத் தந்தேன்; இதிலே உனக்குச் சரியானவன் உனக்குமுன் இருந்ததுமில்லை, உனக்குச் சரியானவன் உனக்குப்பின் எழும்புவதுமில்லை.

Behold, I have done according to thy words: lo, I have given thee a wise and an understanding heart; so that there was none like thee before thee, neither after thee shall any arise like unto thee.

இதுவுமன்றி, நீ கேளாத ஐசுவரியத்தையும் மகிமையையும் உனக்குத் தந்தேன்; உன் நாட்களில் இருக்கிற ராஜாக்களில் ஒருவனும் உனக்குச் சரியானவன் இருப்பதில்லை.

And I have also given thee that which thou hast not asked, both riches, and honour: so that there shall not be any among the kings like unto thee all thy days.

உன் தகப்பனாகிய தாவீது நடந்தது போல, நீயும் என் கட்டளைகளையும் என் நியமங்களையும் கைக்கொண்டு, என் வழிகளில் நடப்பாயாகில், உன் நாட்களையும் நீடித்திருக்கப்பண்ணுவேன் என்றார்.

And if thou wilt walk in my ways, to keep my statutes and my commandments, as thy father David did walk, then I will lengthen thy days.

சாலொமோனுக்கு நித்திரை தெளிந்தபோது, அது சொப்பனம் என்று அறிந்தான்; அவன் எருசலேமுக்கு வந்து, கர்த்தருடைய உடன்படிக்கைப் பெட்டிக்கு முன்பாக நின்று, சர்வாங்க தகனபலிகளையிட்டு, சமாதானபலிகளைச் செலுத்தி, தன் ஊழியக்காரர் எல்லாருக்கும் விருந்துசெய்தான்.

And Solomon awoke; and, behold, it was a dream. And he came to Jerusalem, and stood before the ark of the covenant of the LORD, and offered up burnt offerings, and offered peace offerings, and made a feast to all his servants.

அப்பொழுது வேசிகளான இரண்டு ஸ்திரீகள் ராஜாவினிடத்தில் வந்து, அவனுக்கு முன்பாக நின்றார்கள்.

Then came there two women, that were harlots, unto the king, and stood before him.

அவர்களில் ஒருத்தி: என் ஆண்டவனே, நானும் இந்த ஸ்திரீயும் ஒரே வீட்டிலே குடியிருக்கிறோம்; நான் இவளோடே வீட்டிலிருக்கையில் ஆண்பிள்ளை பெற்றேன்.

And the one woman said, O my lord, I and this woman dwell in one house; and I was delivered of a child with her in the house.

நான் பிள்ளைபெற்ற மூன்றாம் நாளிலே, இந்த ஸ்திரீயும் ஆண்பிள்ளை பெற்றாள்; நாங்கள் ஒருமித்திருந்தோம், எங்கள் இருவரையும் தவிர, வீட்டுக்குள்ளே வேறொருவரும் இல்லை.

And it came to pass the third day after that I was delivered, that this woman was delivered also: and we were together; there was no stranger with us in the house, save we two in the house.

இராத்திரி தூக்கத்திலே இந்த ஸ்திரீ தன் பிள்ளையின்மேல் புரண்டுபடுத்ததினால் அது செத்துப்போயிற்று.

And this woman's child died in the night; because she overlaid it.

அப்பொழுது, உமது அடியாள் நித்திரைபண்ணுகையில், இவள் நடுஜாமத்தில் எழுந்து, என் பக்கத்திலே கிடக்கிற என் பிள்ளையை எடுத்து, தன் மார்பிலே கிடத்திக்கொண்டு, செத்த தன் பிள்ளையை எடுத்து, என் மார்பிலே கிடத்திவிட்டாள்.

And she arose at midnight, and took my son from beside me, while thine handmaid slept, and laid it in her bosom, and laid her dead child in my bosom.

என் பிள்ளைக்குப் பால்கொடுக்கக் காலமே நான் எழுந்திருந்தபோது, அது செத்துக் கிடந்தது; பொழுது விடிந்தபின் நான் அதை உற்றுப்பார்க்கும்போது, அது நான் பெற்ற பிள்ளை அல்லவென்று கண்டேன் என்றாள்.

And when I rose in the morning to give my child suck, behold, it was dead: but when I had considered it in the morning, behold, it was not my son, which I did bear.

அதற்கு மற்ற ஸ்திரீ: அப்படியல்ல, உயிரோடிருக்கிறது என் பிள்ளை, செத்தது உன் பிள்ளை என்றாள். இவளோ: இல்லை, செத்தது உன் பிள்ளை, உயிரோடிருக்கிறது என் பிள்ளை என்றாள்; இப்படி ராஜாவுக்கு முன்பாக வாதாடினார்கள்.

And the other woman said, Nay; but the living is my son, and the dead is thy son. And this said, No; but the dead is thy son, and the living is my son. Thus they spake before the king.

அப்பொழுது ராஜா: உயிரோடிருக்கிறது என் பிள்ளை, செத்தது உன் பிள்ளை என்று இவள் சொல்லுகிறாள்; அப்படியல்ல, செத்தது உன் பிள்ளை, உயிரோடிருக்கிறது என் பிள்ளை என்று அவள் சொல்லுகிறாள் என்று சொல்லி,

Then said the king, The one saith, This is my son that liveth, and thy son is the dead: and the other saith, Nay; but thy son is the dead, and my son is the living.

ஒரு பட்டயத்தைக் கொண்டுவாருங்கள் என்றான்; அவர்கள் ஒரு பட்டயத்தை ராஜாவினிடத்தில் கொண்டுவந்தார்கள்.

And the king said, Bring me a sword. And they brought a sword before the king.

ராஜா உயிரோடிருக்கிற பிள்ளையை இரண்டாக பிளந்து, பாதியை இவளுக்கும் பாதியை அவளுக்கும் கொடுங்கள் என்றான்.

And the king said, Divide the living child in two, and give half to the one, and half to the other.

அப்பொழுது உயிரோடிருக்கிற பிள்ளையின் தாய், தன் பிள்ளைக்காக அவள் குடல் துடித்ததினால், ராஜாவை நோக்கி: ஐயோ, என் ஆண்டவனே, உயிரோடிருக்கிற பிள்ளையைக் கொல்லவேண்டாம்; அதை அவளுக்கே கொடுத்துவிடும் என்றாள்; மற்றவள் அது எனக்கும் வேண்டாம், உனக்கும் வேண்டாம், பிளந்து போடுங்கள் என்றாள்.

Then spake the woman whose the living child was unto the king, for her bowels yearned upon her son, and she said, O my lord, give her the living child, and in no wise slay it. But the other said, Let it be neither mine nor thine, but divide it.

அப்பொழுது ராஜா உயிரோடிருக்கிற பிள்ளையைக் கொல்லாமல், அவளுக்குக் கொடுத்துவிடுங்கள்; அவளே அதின் தாய் என்றான்.

Then the king answered and said, Give her the living child, and in no wise slay it: she is the mother thereof.

ராஜா தீர்த்த இந்த நியாயத்தை இஸ்ரவேலர் எல்லாரும் கேள்விப்பட்டு, நியாயம் விசாரிக்கிறதற்கு தேவன் அருளின ஞானம் ராஜாவுக்கு உண்டென்று கண்டு, அவனுக்குப் பயந்தார்கள்.

And all Israel heard of the judgment which the king had judged; and they feared the king: for they saw that the wisdom of God was in him, to do judgment.

1இராஜாக்கள் அத்தியாயம் 4

ராஜாவாகிய சாலொமோன் சமஸ்த இஸ்ரவேலின்மேலும் ராஜாவாயிருந்தான்.

So king Solomon was king over all Israel.

அவனுக்கு இருந்த பிரபுக்கள்: சாதோக்கின் குமாரனாகிய அசரியா பிரதான மந்திரியாயிருந்தான்.

And these were the princes which he had; Azariah the son of Zadok the priest,

சீசாவின் குமாரராகிய ஏலிகோரேப்பும் அகியாவும் சம்பிரதிகளாயிருந்தார்கள்; அகிலூதின் குமாரன் யோசபாத் மந்திரியாயிருந்தான்.

Elihoreph and Ahiah, the sons of Shisha, scribes; Jehoshaphat the son of Ahilud, the recorder.

யோய்தாவின் குமாரன் பெனாயா படைத்தலைவனும், சாதோக்கும் அபியத்தாரும் ஆசாரியர்களுமாயிருந்தார்கள்.

And Benaiah the son of Jehoiada was over the host: and Zadok and Abiathar were the priests:

நாத்தானின் குமாரன் அசரியா மணியகாரரின் தலைவனாயிருந்தான்; நாத்தானின் குமாரன் சாபூத் ராஜாவின் பிரதானியும் இஷ்டனுமாயிருந்தான்.

And Azariah the son of Nathan was over the officers: and Zabud the son of Nathan was principal officer, and the king's friend:

அகீஷார் அரமனை விசாரிப்புக்காரனும், அப்தாவின் குமாரன் அதோனீராம் பகுதி விசாரிப்புக்காரனுமாய் இருந்தான்.

And Ahishar was over the household: and Adoniram the son of Abda was over the tribute.

ராஜாவுக்கும் அவன் அரமனைக்கும் வேண்டிய உணவுப்பொருள்களைச் சேகரிக்கிற பன்னிரண்டு மணியகாரர் சாலொமோனுக்கு இஸ்ரவேல் தேசமெங்கும் வைக்கப்பட்டிருந்தார்கள்; அவர்கள் மாதத்துக்கு ஒவ்வொருவராக வருஷமுழுவதும் பராமரித்துவந்தார்கள்.

And Solomon had twelve officers over all Israel, which provided victuals for the king and his household: each man his month in a year made provision.

அவர்கள் நாமங்களாவன: ஊரின் குமாரன், இவன் எப்பிராயீம் மலைத் தேசத்தில் இருந்தான்.

And these are their names: The son of Hur, in mount Ephraim:

தேக்கேரின் குமாரன், இவன் மாக்காத்சிலும், சால்பீமிலும், பெத்ஷிமேசிலும், ஏலோன்பெத்தானானிலும் இருந்தான்.

The son of Dekar, in Makaz, and in Shaalbim, and Bethshemesh, and Elonbethhanan:

ஏசேதின் குமாரன், இவன் அறுபோத்தில் இருந்தான்; சோகோவும் எப்பேர் சீமையனைத்தும் இவன் விசாரிப்பில் இருந்தது.

The son of Hesed, in Aruboth; to him pertained Sochoh, and all the land of Hepher:

அபினதாபின் குமாரன், இவன் தோரின் நாட்டுப்புறமனைத்திற்கும் விசாரிப்புக்காரனாயிருந்தான்; சாலொமோனின் குமாரத்தியாகிய தாபாத் இவனுக்கு மனைவியாயிருந்தாள்.

The son of Abinadab, in all the region of Dor; which had Taphath the daughter of Solomon to wife:

அகிலூதின் குமாரனாகிய பானா, இவன் விசாரிப்பில், தானாகும், மெகிதோவும், சர்த்தனாவுக்குப் பக்கமாகவும் யெஸ்ரயேலுக்குக் கீழாகவும் பெத்செயான் தொடங்கி ஆபேல் மெகொல்லாமட்டும் யக்மெயாமுக்கு அப்புறத்துமட்டும் இருக்கிற பெத்செயான் அனைத்தும் இருந்தது.

Baana the son of Ahilud; to him pertained Taanach and Megiddo, and all Bethshean, which is by Zartanah beneath Jezreel, from Bethshean to Abelmeholah, even unto the place that is beyond Jokneam:

கேபேரின் குமாரன், இவன் கீலேயாத்திலுள்ள ராமோத்தில் இருந்தான்; கீலேயாத்திலுள்ள மனாசேயின் குமாரனாகிய யாவீரின் கிராமங்களும் மதில்களும் வெண்கலத் தாழ்ப்பாள்களுமுள்ள பாசான் தேசத்தினுடைய அறுபது பெரிய பட்டணங்களுள்ள அர்கோப் சீமையும் இவன் விசாரிப்பில் இருந்தது.

The son of Geber, in Ramothgilead; to him pertained the towns of Jair the son of Manasseh, which are in Gilead; to him also pertained the region of Argob, which is in Bashan, threescore great cities with walls and brasen bars:

இத்தோவின் குமாரன் அகினதாப், இவன் மக்னாயீமில் இருந்தான்.

Ahinadab the son of Iddo had Mahanaim:

அகிமாஸ், இவன் நப்தலியில் இருந்தான்; இவன் சாலொமோனுக்கு இருந்த ஒரு குமாரத்தியாகிய பஸ்மாத் என்பவளை விவாகம்பண்ணினான்.

Ahimaaz was in Naphtali; he also took Basmath the daughter of Solomon to wife:

ஊசாயின் குமாரன் பானா, இவன் ஆசேரிலும் ஆலோத்திலும் இருந்தான்.

Baanah the son of Hushai was in Asher and in Aloth:

பருவாவின் குமாரன் யோசபாத், இவன் இசக்காரில் இருந்தான்.

Jehoshaphat the son of Paruah, in Issachar:

ஏலாவின் குமாரன் சீமேயி, இவன் பென்யமீனில் இருந்தான்.

Shimei the son of Elah, in Benjamin:

ஊரியின் குமாரன் கேபேர், இவன் எமோரியரின் ராஜாவாகிய சீகோனுக்கும் பாசானின் ராஜாவாகிய ஓகுக்கும் இருந்த தேசமாகிய கீலேயாத் தேசத்தில் இருந்தான்; இவன் மாத்திரம் அத்தேசத்தில் அதிபதியாய் இருந்தான்.

Geber the son of Uri was in the country of Gilead, in the country of Sihon king of the Amorites, and of Og king of Bashan; and he was the only officer which was in the land.

யூதாவும் இஸ்ரவேலும் கடற்கரை மணலத்தனை ஏராளமாயிருந்து, புசித்துக்குடித்து மகிழ்ந்து கொண்டிருந்தார்கள்.

Judah and Israel were many, as the sand which is by the sea in multitude, eating and drinking, and making merry.

நதிதொடங்கி, பெலிஸ்தர் தேசவழியாய் எகிப்தின் எல்லைமட்டும் இருக்கிற சகல ராஜ்யங்களையும் சாலொமோன் ஆண்டுகொண்டிருந்தான்; அவர்கள் சாலொமோனுக்குக் காணிக்கைகளைக் கொண்டுவந்து, அவன் உயிரோடிருந்த நாளெல்லாம் அவனைச் சேவித்தார்கள்.

And Solomon reigned over all kingdoms from the river unto the land of the Philistines, and unto the border of Egypt: they brought presents, and served Solomon all the days of his life.

நாள் ஒன்றிற்குச் சாலொமோனுக்குச் செல்லும் சாப்பாட்டுச் செலவு, முப்பது மரக்கால் மெல்லிய மாவும், அறுபது மரக்கால் மாவும்,

And Solomon's provision for one day was thirty measures of fine flour, and threescore measures of meal,

கலைமான்களையும் வெளிமான்களையும் வரையாடுகளையும் கொழுமையான பறவைகளையும் தவிர, கொழுக்கப்பட்ட பத்து மாடுகளும், மேய்ச்சலிலிருந்து வந்த இருபது மாடுகளும் நூறு ஆடுகளுமாம்.

Ten fat oxen, and twenty oxen out of the pastures, and an hundred sheep, beside harts, and roebucks, and fallowdeer, and fatted fowl.

நதிக்கு இப்புறத்தில் இருக்கிற திப்சாமுதற்கொண்டு ஆசாமட்டுமுள்ளவையெல்லாவற்றையும், நதிக்கு இப்புறத்திலுள்ள சகல ராஜாக்களையும் ஆண்டுவந்தான்; அவனைச் சுற்றி எங்கும் சமாதானமாயிருந்தது.

For he had dominion over all the region on this side the river, from Tiphsah even to Azzah, over all the kings on this side the river: and he had peace on all sides round about him.

சாலொமோனுடைய நாளெல்லாம் தாண் துவக்கிப் பெயெர்செபாமட்டும், யூதாவும் இஸ்ரவேலும் அவரவர் தங்கள் தங்கள் திராட்சச்செடியின் நிழலிலும், தங்கள் தங்கள் அத்திமரத்தின் நிழலிலும் சுகமாய்க் குடியிருந்தார்கள்.

And Judah and Israel dwelt safely, every man under his vine and under his fig tree, from Dan even to Beersheba, all the days of Solomon.

சாலொமோனுக்கு நாலாயிரம் இரதக்குதிரைலாயங்களும், பன்னீராயிரம் குதிரை வீரரும் இருந்தார்கள்.

And Solomon had forty thousand stalls of horses for his chariots, and twelve thousand horsemen.

மேற்சொல்லிய மணியகாரரில் ஒவ்வொருவரும் தன்தன் மாதத்திலே சாலொமோன் ராஜாவுக்கும், ராஜாவின் பந்திக்கு வரும் யாவருக்கும் வேண்டியவைகளை ஒரு குறைவுமின்றி பராமரித்து,

And those officers provided victual for king Solomon, and for all that came unto king Solomon's table, every man in his month: they lacked nothing.

குதிரைகளுக்கும் ஒட்டகங்களுக்கும் வேண்டிய வாற்கோதுமையையும், வைக்கோலையும், அவரவர் தங்களுக்கு இடப்பட்ட கட்டளையின்படி அவைகள் இருக்கும் ஸ்தலத்திற்குக் கொண்டுவருவார்கள்.

Barley also and straw for the horses and dromedaries brought they unto the place where the officers were, every man according to his charge.

தேவன் சாலொமோனுக்கு மிகுதியான ஞானத்தையும் புத்தியையும், கடற்கரை மணலத்தனையான மனோவிருத்தியையும் கொடுத்தார்.

And God gave Solomon wisdom and understanding exceeding much, and largeness of heart, even as the sand that is on the sea shore.

சகல கிழக்கத்திப் புத்திரரின் ஞானத்தையும் எகிப்தியரின் சகல ஞானத்தையும்பார்க்கிலும் சாலொமோனின் ஞானம் சிறந்ததாயிருந்தது.

And Solomon's wisdom excelled the wisdom of all the children of the east country, and all the wisdom of Egypt.

அவன் எஸ்ராகியனாகிய ஏத்தானிலும், ஏமான், கல்கோல், தர்தா என்னும் மாகோலின் குமாரரிலும், மற்ற எல்லா மனுஷரிலும் ஞானவானாயிருந்தான்; சுற்றிலும் இருந்த சகல ஜாதிகளிலும் அவன் கீர்த்தி பிரபலமாயிருந்தது.

For he was wiser than all men; than Ethan the Ezrahite, and Heman, and Chalcol, and Darda, the sons of Mahol: and his fame was in all nations round about.

அவன் மூவாயிரம் நீதிமொழிகளைச் சொன்னான்; அவனுடைய பாட்டுகள் ஆயிரத்து ஐந்து.

And he spake three thousand proverbs: and his songs were a thousand and five.

லீபனோனில் இருக்கிற கேதுரு மரங்கள் முதற்கொண்டு சுவரில் முளைக்கிற ஈசோப்புப் பூண்டு வரைக்குமுள்ள மரமுதலிய தாவரங்களைக்குறித்தும், மிருகங்கள் பறவைகள் ஊரும் பிராணிகள் மச்சங்கள் ஆகிய இவைகளைக் குறித்தும் வாக்கியங்களைச் சொன்னான்.

And he spake of trees, from the cedar tree that is in Lebanon even unto the hyssop that springeth out of the wall: he spake also of beasts, and of fowl, and of creeping things, and of fishes.

சாலொமோனின் ஞானத்தைக் குறித்துக் கேள்விப்பட்ட பூமியின் சகல ராஜாக்களிடத்திலுமிருந்து நானாஜாதியான ஜனங்களும் அவனுடைய ஞானத்தைக் கேட்கிறதற்கு வந்தார்கள்.

And there came of all people to hear the wisdom of Solomon, from all kings of the earth, which had heard of his wisdom.

கலாத்தியர் அத்தியாயம் 1

மனுஷராலுமல்ல, மனுஷன் மூலமாயுமல்ல, இயேசுகிறிஸ்துவினாலும், அவரை மரித்தோரிலிருந்தெழுப்பின பிதாவாகிய தேவனாலும், அப்போஸ்தலனாயிருக்கிற பவுலாகிய நானும்,

Paul, an apostle, (not of men, neither by man, but by Jesus Christ, and God the Father, who raised him from the dead;)

என்னுடனேகூட இருக்கிற சகோதரரெல்லாரும், கலாத்தியா நாட்டிலுள்ள சபைகளுக்கு எழுதுகிறதாவது:

And all the brethren which are with me, unto the churches of Galatia:

பிதாவாகிய தேவனாலும், நம்முடைய கர்த்தராகிய இயேசுகிறிஸ்துவினாலும் உங்களுக்குக் கிருபையும் சமாதானமும் உண்டாவதாக;

Grace be to you and peace from God the Father, and from our Lord Jesus Christ,

அவர் நம்மை இப்பொழுதிருக்கிற பொல்லாத பிரபஞ்சத்தினின்று விடுவிக்கும்படி நம்முடைய பிதாவாகிய தேவனுடைய சித்தத்தின்படியே நம்முடைய பாவங்களுக்காகத் தம்மைத்தாமே ஒப்புக்கொடுத்தார்;

Who gave himself for our sins, that he might deliver us from this present evil world, according to the will of God and our Father:

அவருக்கு என்றென்றைக்குமுள்ள சதாகாலங்களிலும் மகிமை உண்டாவதாக. ஆமென்.

To whom be glory for ever and ever. Amen.

உங்களைக் கிறிஸ்துவின் கிருபையினாலே அழைத்தவரை நீங்கள் இவ்வளவு சீக்கிரமாய் விட்டு, வேறொரு சுவிசேஷத்திற்குத் திரும்புகிறதைப்பற்றி நான் ஆச்சரியப்படுகிறேன்;

I marvel that ye are so soon removed from him that called you into the grace of Christ unto another gospel:

வேறொரு சுவிசேஷம் இல்லையே; சிலர் உங்களைக் கலகப்படுத்தி, கிறிஸ்துவினுடைய சுவிசேஷத்தைப் புரட்ட மனதாயிருக்கிறார்களேயல்லாமல் வேறல்ல.

Which is not another; but there be some that trouble you, and would pervert the gospel of Christ.

நாங்கள் உங்களுக்குப் பிரசங்கித்த சுவிசேஷத்தையல்லாமல், நாங்களாவது, வானத்திலிருந்து வருகிற ஒரு தூதனாவது, வேறொரு சுவிசேஷத்தை உங்களுக்குப் பிரசங்கித்தால், அவன் சபிக்கப்பட்டவனாயிருக்கக்கடவன்.

But though we, or an angel from heaven, preach any other gospel unto you than that which we have preached unto you, let him be accursed.

முன் சொன்னதுபோல மறுபடியும் சொல்லுகிறேன்; நீங்கள் ஏற்றுக்கொண்ட சுவிசேஷத்தையல்லாமல் வேறொரு சுவிசேஷத்தை ஒருவன் உங்களுக்குப் பிரசங்கித்தால் அவன் சபிக்கப்பட்டவனாயிருக்கக்கடவன்.

As we said before, so say I now again, If any man preach any other gospel unto you than that ye have received, let him be accursed.

இப்பொழுது நான் மனுஷரையா, தேவனையா, யாரை நாடிப் போதிக்கிறேன்? மனுஷரையா பிரியப்படுத்தப்பார்க்கிறேன்? நான் இன்னும் மனுஷரைப் பிரியப்படுத்துகிறவனாயிருந்தால் நான் கிறிஸ்துவின் ஊழியக்காரனல்லவே.

For do I now persuade men, or God? or do I seek to please men? for if I yet pleased men, I should not be the servant of Christ.

மேலும், சகோதரரே, என்னால் பிரசங்கிக்கப்பட்ட சுவிசேஷம் மனுஷருடைய யோசனையின்படியானதல்லவென்று உங்களுக்குத் தெரிவிக்கிறேன்.

But I certify you, brethren, that the gospel which was preached of me is not after man.

நான் அதை ஒரு மனுஷனால் பெற்றதுமில்லை, மனுஷனால் கற்றதுமில்லை, இயேசுகிறிஸ்துவே அதை எனக்கு வெளிப்படுத்தினார்.

For I neither received it of man, neither was I taught it, but by the revelation of Jesus Christ.

நான் யூதமார்க்கத்திலிருந்தபோது என்னுடைய நடக்கையைக்குறித்துக் கேள்விப்பட்டிருப்பீர்கள்; தேவனுடைய சபையை நான் மிகவும் துன்பப்படுத்தி, அதைப் பாழாக்கி;

For ye have heard of my conversation in time past in the Jews' religion, how that beyond measure I persecuted the church of God, and wasted it:

என் ஜனத்தாரில் என் வயதுள்ள அநேகரைப்பார்க்கிலும் யூதமார்க்கத்திலே தேறினவனாய், என் பிதாக்களுடைய பாரம்பரிய நியாயங்களுக்காக மிகவும் பக்திவைராக்கியமுள்ளவனாயிருந்தேன்.

And profited in the Jews' religion above many my equals in mine own nation, being more exceedingly zealous of the traditions of my fathers.

அப்படியிருந்தும், நான் என் தாயின் வயிற்றிலிருந்ததுமுதல், என்னைப் பிரித்தெடுத்து, தம்முடைய கிருபையினால் அழைத்த தேவன்,

But when it pleased God, who separated me from my mother's womb, and called me by his grace,

To reveal his Son in me, that I might preach him among the heathen; immediately I conferred not with flesh and blood:

Neither went I up to Jerusalem to them which were apostles before me; but I went into Arabia, and returned again unto Damascus.

மூன்று வருஷம் சென்றபின்பு, பேதுருவைக் கண்டுகொள்ளும்படி நான் எருசலேமுக்குப் போய், அவனிடத்தில் பதினைந்துநாள் தங்கியிருந்தேன்.

Then after three years I went up to Jerusalem to see Peter, and abode with him fifteen days.

But other of the apostles saw I none, save James the Lord's brother.

Now the things which I write unto you, behold, before God, I lie not.

பின்பு, சீரியா சிலிசியா நாடுகளின் புறங்களில் வந்தேன்.

Afterwards I came into the regions of Syria and Cilicia;

And was unknown by face unto the churches of Judaea which were in Christ:

முன்னே நம்மைத் துன்பப்படுத்தினவனே, தான் அழிக்கத்தேடின விசுவாசத்தை இப்பொழுது பிரசங்கிக்கிறான் என்பதை மாத்திரம் அவர்கள் கேள்விப்பட்டிருந்து,

But they had heard only, That he which persecuted us in times past now preacheth the faith which once he destroyed.

என்னைப்பற்றி தேவனை மகிமைப்படுத்தினார்கள்.

And they glorified God in me.

கலாத்தியர் அத்தியாயம் 2

பதினாலு வருஷம் சென்றபின்பு, நான் தீத்துவைக் கூட்டிக்கொண்டு, பர்னபாவுடனேகூட மறுபடியும் எருசலேமுக்குப் போனேன்.

Then fourteen years after I went up again to Jerusalem with Barnabas, and took Titus with me also.

நான் தேவ அறிவிப்பினாலே போய், புறஜாதிகளிடத்தில் நான் பிரசங்கிக்கிற சுவிசேஷத்தை அவர்களுக்கு விவரித்துக் காண்பித்தேன்; ஆயினும் நான் ஓடுகிறதும், ஓடினதும் வீணாகாதபடிக்கு எண்ணிக்கையுள்ளவர்களுக்கே தனிமையாய் விவரித்துக் காண்பித்தேன்.

And I went up by revelation, and communicated unto them that gospel which I preach among the Gentiles, but privately to them which were of reputation, lest by any means I should run, or had run, in vain.

ஆனாலும் என்னுடனேகூட இருந்த தீத்து கிரேக்கனாயிருந்தும் விருத்தசேதனம் பண்ணிக்கொள்ளும்படிக்குக் கட்டாயம்பண்ணப்படவில்லை.

But neither Titus, who was with me, being a Greek, was compelled to be circumcised:

கிறிஸ்து இயேசுவுக்குள் நமக்கு உண்டான சுயாதீனத்தை உளவுபார்த்து நம்மை நியாயப்பிரமாணத்திற்கு அடிமைகளாக்கும்பொருட்டாகப் பக்கவழியாய் நுழைந்த கள்ளச் சகோதரர் நிமித்தம் அப்படியாயிற்று.

And that because of false brethren unawares brought in, who came in privily to spy out our liberty which we have in Christ Jesus, that they might bring us into bondage:

சுவிசேஷத்தின் சத்தியம் உங்களிடத்திலே நிலைத்திருக்கும்படி, நாங்கள் ஒரு நாழிகையாகிலும் அவர்களுக்குக் கீழ்ப்படிந்து இணங்கவில்லை.

To whom we gave place by subjection, no, not for an hour; that the truth of the gospel might continue with you.

அல்லாமலும் எண்ணிக்கையுள்ளவர்களாயிருந்தவர்கள் எனக்கு ஒன்றும் போதிக்கவில்லை; அவர்கள் எப்படிப்பட்டவர்களாயிருந்தாலும் எனக்குக் கவலையில்லை. தேவன் மனுஷரிடத்தில் பட்சபாதமுள்ளவரல்லவே.

But of these who seemed to be somewhat, (whatsoever they were, it maketh no matter to me: God accepteth no man's person:) for they who seemed to be somewhat in conference added nothing to me:

அதுவுமல்லாமல், விருத்தசேதனமுள்ளவர்களுக்கு அப்போஸ்தலனாயிருக்கும்படி பேதுருவைப் பலப்படுத்தினவர் புறஜாதிகளுக்கு அப்போஸ்தலனாயிருக்கும்படி என்னையும் பலப்படுத்தினபடியால்,

But contrariwise, when they saw that the gospel of the uncircumcision was committed unto me, as the gospel of the circumcision was unto Peter;

விருத்தசேதனமுள்ளவர்களுக்குச் சுவிசேஷத்தைப் பிரசங்கிக்கும்படி பேதுருவுக்குக் கையளிக்கப்பட்டதுபோல, விருத்தசேதனம் இல்லாதவர்களுக்குப் பிரசங்கிக்கும்படி அது எனக்கும் கையளிக்கப்பட்டதென்று அவர்கள் கண்டு;

For he that wrought effectually in Peter to the apostleship of the circumcision, the same was mighty in me toward the Gentiles:)

எனக்கு அளிக்கப்பட்ட கிருபையை அறிந்தபோது, தூண்களாக எண்ணப்பட்ட யாக்கோபும், கேபாவும், யோவானும், தாங்கள் விருத்தசேதனமுள்ளவர்களுக்கும், நாங்கள் புறஜாதிகளுக்கும் பிரசங்கிக்கும்படி, அந்நியோந்நிய ஐக்கியத்திற்கு அடையாளமாக எனக்கும் பர்னபாவுக்கும் வலதுகை கொடுத்து,

And when James, Cephas, and John, who seemed to be pillars, perceived the grace that was given unto me, they gave to me and Barnabas the right hands of fellowship; that we should go unto the heathen, and they unto the circumcision.

தரித்திரரை நினைத்துக்கொள்ளும்படிக்குமாத்திரம் சொன்னார்கள்; அப்படிச் செய்யும்படி அதற்கு முன்னமே நானும் கருத்துள்ளவனாயிருந்தேன்.

Only they would that we should remember the poor; the same which I also was forward to do.

மேலும், பேதுரு அந்தியோகியாவுக்கு வந்தபோது, அவன்மேல் குற்றஞ்சுமந்ததினால், நான் முகமுகமாய் அவனோடே எதிர்த்தேன்.

But when Peter was come to Antioch, I withstood him to the face, because he was to be blamed.

எப்படியெனில், யாக்கோபினிடத்திலிருந்து சிலர் வருகிறதற்குமுன்னே அவன் புறஜாதியாருடனே சாப்பிட்டான்; அவர்கள் வந்தபோதோ, விருத்தசேதனமுள்ளவர்களுக்குப் பயந்து, விலகிப் பிரிந்தான்.

For before that certain came from James, he did eat with the Gentiles: but when they were come, he withdrew and separated himself, fearing them which were of the circumcision.

மற்ற யூதரும் அவனுடனேகூட மாயம்பண்ணினார்கள்; அவர்களுடைய மாயத்தினாலே பர்னபாவும் இழுப்புண்டான்.

And the other Jews dissembled likewise with him; insomuch that Barnabas also was carried away with their dissimulation.

இப்படி அவர்கள் சுவிசேஷத்தின் சத்தியத்திற்கேற்றபடி சரியாய் நடவாததை நான் கண்டபோது, எல்லாருக்கும் முன்பாக நான் பேதுருவை நோக்கிச் சொன்னது என்னவென்றால்: யூதனாயிருக்கிற நீர் யூதர் முறைமையாக நடவாமல், புறஜாதியார் முறைமையாக நடந்து கொண்டிருக்க, புறஜாதியாரை யூதர் முறைமையாக நடக்கும்படி நீர் எப்படிக் கட்டாயம்பண்ணலாம்?

But when I saw that they walked not uprightly according to the truth of the gospel, I said unto Peter before them all, If thou, being a Jew, livest after the manner of Gentiles, and not as do the Jews, why compellest thou the Gentiles to live as do the Jews?

புறஜாதியாரில் பிறந்த பாவிகளாயிராமல், சுபாவத்தின்படி யூதராயிருக்கிற நாமும் இயேசுகிறிஸ்துவைப்பற்றும் விசுவாசத்தினாலேயன்றி, நியாயப்பிரமாணத்தின் கிரியைகளினாலே மனுஷன் நீதிமானாக்கப்படுவதில்லையென்று அறிந்து, நியாயப்பிரமாணத்தின் கிரியைகளினாலல்ல, கிறிஸ்துவைப்பற்றும் விசுவாசத்தினாலே நீதிமான்களாக்கப்படும்படிக்குக் கிறிஸ்து இயேசுவின்மேல் விசுவாசிகளானோம்.

We who are Jews by nature, and not sinners of the Gentiles,

நியாயப்பிரமாணத்தின் கிரியைகளினாலே எந்த மனுஷனும் நீதிமானாக்கப்படுவதில்லையே.

Knowing that a man is not justified by the works of the law, but by the faith of Jesus Christ, even we have believed in Jesus Christ, that we might be justified by the faith of Christ, and not by the works of the law: for by the works of the law shall no flesh be justified.

கிறிஸ்துவுக்குள் நீதிமான்களாக்கப்படும்படி நாடுகிற நாமும் பாவிகளாகக் காணப்படுவோமானால், கிறிஸ்து பாவத்திற்குக் காரணரோ? அல்லவே.

But if, while we seek to be justified by Christ, we ourselves also are found sinners, is therefore Christ the minister of sin? God forbid.

நான் இடித்துப்போட்டவைகளையே நான் மறுபடியும் கட்டினால், பிரமாணத்தை மீறுகிறவனென்று காணப்படுவேன்.

For if I build again the things which I destroyed, I make myself a transgressor.

தேவனுக்கென்று பிழைக்கும்படி நான் நியாயப்பிரமாணத்தினாலே நியாயப்பிரமாணத்திற்கு மரித்தேனே.

For I through the law am dead to the law, that I might live unto God.

கிறிஸ்துவுடனேகூடச் சிலுவையிலறையப்பட்டேன்; ஆயினும், பிழைத்திருக்கிறேன்; இனி நான் அல்ல, கிறிஸ்துவே எனக்குள் பிழைத்திருக்கிறார்; நான் இப்பொழுது மாம்சத்தில் பிழைத்திருக்கிறதோ, என்னில் அன்புகூர்ந்து எனக்காகத் தம்மைத்தாமே ஒப்புக்கொடுத்த தேவனுடைய குமாரனைப்பற்றும் விசுவாசத்தினாலே பிழைத்திருக்கிறேன்.

I am crucified with Christ: nevertheless I live; yet not I, but Christ liveth in me: and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by the faith of the Son of God, who loved me, and gave himself for me.

நான் தேவனுடைய கிருபையை விருதாவாக்குகிறதில்லை; நீதியானது நியாயப்பிரமாணத்தினாலே வருமானால் கிறிஸ்து மரித்தது வீணாயிருக்குமே.

I do not frustrate the grace of God: for if righteousness come by the law, then Christ is dead in vain.
