2சாமுவேல் அத்தியாயம் 20

அப்பொழுது பென்யமீன் மனுஷனான பிக்கிரியின் குமாரனாகிய சேபா என்னும் பேருள்ள பேலியாளின் மனுஷன் ஒருவன் தற்செயலாய் அங்கே இருந்தான்; அவன் எக்காளம் ஊதி: எங்களுக்குத் தாவீதினிடத்தில் பங்கும் இல்லை, ஈசாயின் குமாரனிடத்தில் எங்களுக்குச் சுதந்தரமும் இல்லை; இஸ்ரவேலே, நீங்கள் அவரவர் தங்கள் கூடாரங்களுக்குப் போய்விடுங்கள் என்றான்.

And there happened to be there a man of Belial, whose name was Sheba, the son of Bichri, a Benjamite: and he blew a trumpet, and said, We have no part in David, neither have we inheritance in the son of Jesse: every man to his tents, O Israel.

அப்பொழுது இஸ்ரவேல் மனுஷர் எல்லாரும் தாவீதை விட்டுப் பின்வாங்கி, பிக்கிரியின் குமாரனாகிய சேபாவைப் பின்பற்றிப் போனார்கள்; யோர்தான் தொடங்கி எருசலேம் மட்டுமுள்ள யூதா மனுஷர் தங்கள் ராஜாவைச் சார்ந்திருந்தார்கள்.

So every man of Israel went up from after David, and followed Sheba the son of Bichri: but the men of Judah clave unto their king, from Jordan even to Jerusalem.

தாவீது எருசலேமிலுள்ள தன் வீட்டுக்கு வந்தபோது, வீட்டைக் காக்க ராஜா பின்வைத்துப்போன பத்து மறுமனையாட்டிகளையும் வருவித்து, அவர்களை ஒரு காவல் வீட்டிலே வைத்து பராமரித்தான்; அப்புறம் அவர்களிடத்தில் அவன் பிரவேசிக்கவில்லை; அப்படியே அவர்கள் சாகிற நாள்மட்டும் அடைக்கப்பட்டு, உயிரோடிருக்கிற நாளெல்லாம் விதவைகள்போல் இருந்தார்கள்.

And David came to his house at Jerusalem; and the king took the ten women his concubines, whom he had left to keep the house, and put them in ward, and fed them, but went not in unto them. So they were shut up unto the day of their death, living in widowhood.

பின்பு ராஜா அமாசாவைப் பார்த்து: நீ யூதா மனுஷரை மூன்று நாளைக்குள்ளே என்னிடத்தில் வரவழைத்து, நீயும் கூட வந்து இருக்கவேண்டும் என்றான்.

Then said the king to Amasa, Assemble me the men of Judah within three days, and be thou here present.

அப்பொழுது அமாசா: யூதாவை அழைப்பிக்கப் போய், தனக்குக் குறித்த காலத்திலே வராமல் தாமதித்திருந்தான்.

So Amasa went to assemble the men of Judah: but he tarried longer than the set time which he had appointed him.

அப்பொழுது தாவீது அபிசாயைப் பார்த்து: அப்சலோமைப்பார்க்கிலும் பிக்கிரியின் குமாரனாகிய சேபா, இப்பொழுது நமக்குப் பொல்லாப்புச் செய்வான்; அவன் அரணான பட்டணங்களில் வந்தடைந்து, நம்முடைய கண்களுக்குத் தப்பிப்போகாதபடிக்கு, நீ உன் எஜமானுடைய சேவகரைக் கூட்டிக்கொண்டு, அவனைப் பின்தொடர்ந்துபோ என்றான்.

And David said to Abishai, Now shall Sheba the son of Bichri do us more harm than did Absalom: take thou thy lord's servants, and pursue after him, lest he get him fenced cities, and escape us.

அப்படியே யோவாபின் மனுஷரும், கிரேத்தியரும் பிலேத்தியரும், சகல பலசாலிகளும் அவன் பிறகாலே புறப்பட்டு, பிக்கிரியின் குமாரனாகிய சேபாவைப் பின்தொடர எருசலேமிலிருந்து போனார்கள்.

And there went out after him Joab's men, and the Cherethites, and the Pelethites, and all the mighty men: and they went out of Jerusalem, to pursue after Sheba the son of Bichri.

அவர்கள் கிபியோன் கிட்ட இருக்கிற பெரிய கல்லண்டையிலே வந்தபோது, அமாசா அவர்களுக்கு எதிர்ப்பட்டுவந்தான்; யோவாபோ, தான் உடுத்திக்கொண்டிருக்கிற தன் சட்டையின்மேல் ஒரு கச்சையைக் கட்டிக்கொண்டிருந்தான்; அதில் உறையோடே ஒரு பட்டயம் அவன் இடுப்பண்டையிலே தொங்கிற்று; அவன் புறப்படுகையில் அது விழுந்தது.

When they were at the great stone which is in Gibeon, Amasa went before them. And Joab's garment that he had put on was girded unto him, and upon it a girdle with a sword fastened upon his loins in the sheath thereof; and as he went forth it fell out.

அப்பொழுது யோவாப் அமாசாவைப் பார்த்து: என் சகோதரனே, சுகமாயிருக்கிறாயா என்று சொல்லி, அமாசாவை முத்தஞ்செய்யும்படி, தன் வலது கையினால் அவன் தாடியைப் பிடித்து,

And Joab said to Amasa, Art thou in health, my brother? And Joab took Amasa by the beard with the right hand to kiss him.

தன் கையிலிருக்கிற பட்டயத்திற்கு அமாசா எச்சரிக்கையாயிராதபோது, யோவாப் அவனை அவன் குடல்கள் தரையிலே சரிந்துபோகத்தக்கதாய், அதினால் வயிற்றிலே ஒரே குத்தாக குத்தினான்; அவன் செத்துப்போனான்; அப்பொழுது யோவாபும் அவன் சகோதரனாகிய அபிசாயும் பிக்கிரியின் குமாரனாகிய சேபாவைப் பின்தொடர்ந்தார்கள்.

But Amasa took no heed to the sword that was in Joab's hand: so he smote him therewith in the fifth rib, and shed out his bowels to the ground, and struck him not again; and he died. So Joab and Abishai his brother pursued after Sheba the son of Bichri.

யோவாபுடைய வாலிபரில் ஒருவன் செத்தவனண்டையிலே நின்று, யோவாபின்மேல் பிரியப்படுகிறவன் எவனோ, தாவீதின் பட்சத்தில் இருக்கிறவன் எவனோ, அவன் யோவாபைப் பின்பற்றிப்போவானாக என்றான்.

And one of Joab's men stood by him, and said, He that favoureth Joab, and he that is for David, let him go after Joab.

அமாசா நடுவழியிலே இரத்தத்திலே புரண்டு கிடந்தபடியினால், ஜனங்கள் எல்லாரும் தரித்து நிற்பதை அவன் கண்டு, அமாசாவை வழியிலிருந்து வயலிலே இழுத்துப்போட்டான்; அவனண்டையிலே வருகிறவர்கள் எல்லாரும் தரித்து நிற்பதைக் கண்டு, ஒரு வஸ்திரத்தை அவன்மேல் போட்டான்.

And Amasa wallowed in blood in the midst of the highway. And when the man saw that all the people stood still, he removed Amasa out of the highway into the field, and cast a cloth upon him, when he saw that every one that came by him stood still.

அவன் வழியிலிருந்து எடுத்துப்போடப்பட்ட பிற்பாடு, எல்லாரும் கடந்து, பிக்கிரியின் குமாரனாகிய சேபாவைத் தொடர, யோவாபுக்குப் பின்சென்றார்கள்.

When he was removed out of the highway, all the people went on after Joab, to pursue after Sheba the son of Bichri.

அவன் இஸ்ரவேல் கோத்திரங்களையெல்லாம் சுற்றி, பெத்மாக்காவாகிய ஆபேல்மட்டாகவும், பேரீமின் கடைசிமட்டாகவும் வந்திருந்தான்; அவ்விடத்தாரும் கூடி, தாங்களும் அவனுக்குப் பின்சென்றார்கள்.

And he went through all the tribes of Israel unto Abel, and to Bethmaachah, and all the Berites: and they were gathered together, and went also after him.

அவர்கள் போய் பெத்மாக்காவாகிய ஆபேலிலே அவனை முற்றிக்கைபோட்டு, பட்டணத்திற்கு எதிராகத் தெற்றுவரைக்கும் கொத்தளம் போட்டார்கள்; யோவாபோடே இருக்கிற ஜனங்கள் எல்லாரும் அலங்கத்தை விழப்பண்ணும்படி அழிக்க எத்தனம்பண்ணினார்கள்.

And they came and besieged him in Abel of Bethmaachah, and they cast up a bank against the city, and it stood in the trench: and all the people that were with Joab battered the wall, to throw it down.

அப்பொழுது புத்தியுள்ள ஒரு ஸ்திரீ பட்டணத்திலிருந்து சத்தமிட்டு: கேளுங்கள், கேளுங்கள்; நான் யோவாபோடே பேசவேண்டும்; அவரை இங்கே கிட்டவரச் சொல்லுங்கள் என்றாள்.

Then cried a wise woman out of the city, Hear, hear; say, I pray you, unto Joab, Come near hither, that I may speak with thee.

அவன் அவளுக்குச் சமீபத்தில் வந்தபோது, அந்த ஸ்திரீ: நீர்தானா யோவாப் என்று கேட்டாள்; அவன் நான்தான் என்றான்; அப்பொழுது, அவள் அவனைப் பார்த்து: உமது அடியாளின் வார்த்தைகளைக் கேளும் என்றாள்; அவன்: கேட்கிறேன் என்றான்.

And when he was come near unto her, the woman said, Art thou Joab? And he answered, I am he. Then she said unto him, Hear the words of thine handmaid. And he answered, I do hear.

அப்பொழுது அவள்: பூர்வகாலத்து ஜனங்கள் ஆபேலிலே விசாரித்தால் வழக்குத் தீரும் என்பார்கள்.

Then she spake, saying, They were wont to speak in old time, saying, They shall surely ask counsel at Abel: and so they ended the matter.

இஸ்ரவேலிலே நான் சமாதானமும் உண்மையுமுள்ளவளாயிருக்கையில், நீர் இஸ்ரவேலிலே தாய் பட்டணமாயிருக்கிறதை நிர்மூலமாக்கப் பார்க்கிறீரோ? நீர் கர்த்தருடைய சுதந்தரத்தை விழுங்கவேண்டியது என்ன என்றாள்.

I am one of them that are peaceable and faithful in Israel: thou seekest to destroy a city and a mother in Israel: why wilt thou swallow up the inheritance of the LORD?

யோவாப் பிரதியுத்தரமாக: விழுங்கவேண்டும் அழிக்கவேண்டும் என்கிற ஆசை எனக்கு வெகுதூரமாயிருப்பதாக.

And Joab answered and said, Far be it, far be it from me, that I should swallow up or destroy.

காரியம் அப்படியல்ல; பிக்கிரியின் குமாரனாகிய சேபா என்னும் பேருள்ள எப்பிராயீம் பர்வதத்தானாயிருக்கிற ஒரு மனுஷன், ராஜாவாகிய தாவீதுக்கு விரோதமாய்த் தன் கையை ஓங்கினான்; அவனை மாத்திரம் ஒப்புக்கொடுங்கள்; அப்பொழுது பட்டணத்தை விட்டுப் போவேன் என்றான். அப்பொழுது அந்த ஸ்திரீ யோவாபைப் பார்த்து: இதோ, அவன் தலை மதிலின்மேலிருந்து உம்மிடத்திலே போடப்படும் என்று சொல்லி,

The matter is not so: but a man of mount Ephraim, Sheba the son of Bichri by name, hath lifted up his hand against the king, even against David: deliver him only, and I will depart from the city. And the woman said unto Joab, Behold, his head shall be thrown to thee over the wall.

அவள் ஜனங்களிடத்தில் போய் புத்தியாய்ப் பேசினதினால், அவர்கள் பிக்கிரியின் குமாரனாகிய சேபாவின் தலையை வெட்டி, யோவாபிடத்திலே போட்டார்கள்; அப்பொழுது அவன் எக்காளம் ஊதினான்; அவரவர் பட்டணத்தை விட்டுக் கலைந்து, தங்கள் கூடாரங்களுக்குப் புறப்பட்டுப்போனார்கள்; யோவாபும் ராஜாவிடத்துக்குப் போகும்படி எருசலேமுக்குத் திரும்பினான்.

Then the woman went unto all the people in her wisdom. And they cut off the head of Sheba the son of Bichri, and cast it out to Joab. And he blew a trumpet, and they retired from the city, every man to his tent. And Joab returned to Jerusalem unto the king.

யோவாப் இஸ்ரவேலுடைய எல்லா இராணுவத்தின்மேலும், யோய்தாவின் குமாரனாகிய பெனாயா கிரேத்தியர்மேலும் பிலேத்தியர்மேலும் தலைவராயிருந்தார்கள்.

Now Joab was over all the host of Israel: and Benaiah the son of Jehoiada was over the Cherethites and over the Pelethites:

அதோராம் பகுதிகளை வாங்குகிறவனும், அகிலூதின் குமாரனாகிய யோசபாத் மந்திரியும்,

And Adoram was over the tribute: and Jehoshaphat the son of Ahilud was recorder:

சேவா சம்பிரதியும், சாதோக்கும் அபியத்தாரும் ஆசாரியருமாயிருந்தார்கள்.

And Sheva was scribe: and Zadok and Abiathar were the priests:

யயீரியனாகிய ஈராவும் தாவீதுக்குப் பிரதானியாயிருந்தான்.

And Ira also the Jairite was a chief ruler about David.

2சாமுவேல் அத்தியாயம் 21

தாவீதின் நாட்களில் மூன்று வருஷம் ஓயாத பஞ்சம் உண்டாயிருந்தது; அப்பொழுது தாவீது கர்த்தருடைய சமுகத்தில் விசாரித்தான். கர்த்தர்: கிபியோனியரைக் கொன்றுபோட்ட சவுலுக்காகவும், இரத்தப்பிரியரான அவன் வீட்டாருக்காகவும் இது உண்டாயிற்று என்றார்.

Then there was a famine in the days of David three years, year after year; and David enquired of the LORD. And the LORD answered, It is for Saul, and for his bloody house, because he slew the Gibeonites.

அப்பொழுது ராஜா: கிபியோனியரை அழைப்பித்தான்; கிபியோனியரோ, இஸ்ரவேல் புத்திரராயிராமல் எமோரியரில் மீதியாயிருந்தவர்கள்; அவர்களுக்கு இஸ்ரவேல் புத்திரர் ஆணையிட்டிருந்தும், சவுல் இஸ்ரவேல் புத்திரருக்காகவும், யூதாவுக்காகவும் காண்பித்த வைராக்கியத்தினால் அவர்களை வெட்ட வகைதேடினான்.

And the king called the Gibeonites, and said unto them; (now the Gibeonites were not of the children of Israel, but of the remnant of the Amorites; and the children of Israel had sworn unto them: and Saul sought to slay them in his zeal to the children of Israel and Judah.)

ஆகையால் தாவீது கிபியோனியரைப் பார்த்து: நான் உங்களுக்குச் செய்யவேண்டியது என்ன? நீங்கள் கர்த்தருடைய சுதந்தரத்தை ஆசீர்வதிக்கும்படிக்கு, நான் செய்யவேண்டிய பிராயச்சித்தம் என்ன என்று கேட்டான்.

Wherefore David said unto the Gibeonites, What shall I do for you? and wherewith shall I make the atonement, that ye may bless the inheritance of the LORD?

அப்பொழுது கிபியோனியர் அவனைப் பார்த்து: சவுலோடும் அவன் வீட்டாரோடும் எங்களுக்கு இருக்கிற காரியத்திற்காக எங்களுக்கு வெள்ளியும் பொன்னும் தேவையில்லை; இஸ்ரவேலில் ஒருவனைக் கொன்றுபோடவேண்டும் என்பதும் எங்கள் விருப்பம் அல்ல என்றார்கள். அப்பொழுது அவன்: அப்படியானால், நான் உங்களுக்கு என்ன செய்யவேண்டும் என்று சொல்லுகிறீர்கள் என்று கேட்டான்.

And the Gibeonites said unto him, We will have no silver nor gold of Saul, nor of his house; neither for us shalt thou kill any man in Israel. And he said, What ye shall say, that will I do for you.

அவர்கள் ராஜாவை நோக்கி: நாங்கள் இஸ்ரவேலின் எல்லையிலெங்கும் நிலைக்காதபடிக்கு, அழிந்துபோக எவன் எங்களை நிர்மூலமாக்கி எங்களுக்குப் பொல்லாப்புச் செய்ய நினைத்தானோ,

And they answered the king, The man that consumed us, and that devised against us that we should be destroyed from remaining in any of the coasts of Israel,

அவன் குமாரரில் ஏழுபேர் கர்த்தர் தெரிந்துகொண்ட சவுலின் ஊராகிய கிபியாவிலே நாங்கள் அவர்களைக் கர்த்தருக்கென்று தூக்கிப்போட, எங்களுக்கு ஒப்புக்கொடுக்கப்படவேண்டும் என்றார்கள். நான் அவர்களை ஒப்புக்கொடுப்பேன் என்று ராஜா சொன்னான்.

Let seven men of his sons be delivered unto us, and we will hang them up unto the LORD in Gibeah of Saul, whom the LORD did choose. And the king said, I will give them.

ஆனாலும் தாவீதும் சவுலின் குமாரனாகிய யோனத்தானும் கர்த்தரைக் கொண்டு இட்ட ஆணையினிமித்தம், ராஜா சவுலின் குமாரனாகிய யோனத்தானின் மகன் மேவிபோசேத்தைத் தப்பவிட்டு,

But the king spared Mephibosheth, the son of Jonathan the son of Saul, because of the LORD'S oath that was between them, between David and Jonathan the son of Saul.

ஆயாவின் குமாரத்தியாகிய ரிஸ்பாள் சவுலுக்குப் பெற்ற அவளுடைய இரண்டு குமாரராகிய அர்மோனியையும், மேவிபோசேத்தையும், சவுலின் குமாரத்தியாகிய மேரப் மேகோலாத்தியனான பர்சிலாவின் குமாரனாகிய ஆதரியேலுக்குப் பெற்ற அவளுடைய ஐந்து குமாரரையும் பிடித்து,

But the king took the two sons of Rizpah the daughter of Aiah, whom she bare unto Saul, Armoni and Mephibosheth; and the five sons of Michal the daughter of Saul, whom she brought up for Adriel the son of Barzillai the Meholathite:

அவர்களைக் கிபியோனியர் கையில் ஒப்புக்கொடுத்தான்; அவர்களைக் கர்த்தருடைய சமுகத்தில் மலையின்மேல் தூக்கிப்போட்டார்கள்; அப்படியே அவர்கள் ஏழுபேரும் ஒருமிக்க விழுந்தார்கள்; வாற்கோதுமை அறுப்பு துவக்குகிற அறுப்புக்காலத்தின் முந்தின நாட்களிலே அவர்கள் கொன்று போடப்பட்டார்கள்.

And he delivered them into the hands of the Gibeonites, and they hanged them in the hill before the LORD: and they fell all seven together, and were put to death in the days of harvest, in the first days, in the beginning of barley harvest.

அப்பொழுது ஆயாவின் குமாரத்தியாகிய ரிஸ்பாள் இரட்டுப்புடவையை எடுத்துக்கொண்டுபோய், அதைப் பாறையின்மேல் விரித்து, அறுப்புநாளின் துவக்கம் முதற்கொண்டு வானத்திலிருந்து அவர்கள்மேல் மழை பெய்யுமட்டும் பகலில் ஆகாயத்துப் பறவைகளாகிலும் இரவில் காட்டுமிருகங்களாகிலும் அவர்கள்மேல் விழவொட்டாதிருந்தாள்.

And Rizpah the daughter of Aiah took sackcloth, and spread it for her upon the rock, from the beginning of harvest until water dropped upon them out of heaven, and suffered neither the birds of the air to rest on them by day, nor the beasts of the field by night.

ஆயாவின் குமாரத்தியாகிய ரிஸ்பாள் என்னும் சவுலின் மறுமனையாட்டி செய்தது தாவீதுக்கு அறிவிக்கப்பட்டபோது,

And it was told David what Rizpah the daughter of Aiah, the concubine of Saul, had done.

தாவீது போய், பெலிஸ்தர் கில்போவாவிலே சவுலை வெட்டினபோது, பெத்சானின் வீதியிலே தூக்கிப்போடப்பட்டதும், கீலேயாத்திலுள்ள யாபேஸ் பட்டணத்தார் அங்கே போய்த் திருட்டளவாய்க் கொண்டுவந்ததுமான சவுலின் எலும்புகளையும், அவன் குமாரனான யோனத்தானின் எலும்புகளையும், அவர்களிடத்திலிருந்து எடுத்து,

And David went and took the bones of Saul and the bones of Jonathan his son from the men of Jabeshgilead, which had stolen them from the street of Bethshan, where the Philistines had hanged them, when the Philistines had slain Saul in Gilboa:

அங்கே இருந்து அவைகளைக் கொண்டுவந்து, தூக்கிப்போடப்பட்டவர்களின் எலும்புகளையும் அவைகளோடே சேர்த்து,

And he brought up from thence the bones of Saul and the bones of Jonathan his son; and they gathered the bones of them that were hanged.

சவுலின் எலும்புகளையும் அவன் குமாரனாகிய யோனத்தானின் எலும்புகளையும், பென்யமீன் தேசத்துச் சேலா ஊரிலிருக்கிற அவன் தகப்பனாகிய கீசின் கல்லறையில் அடக்கம்பண்ணுவித்தான்; ராஜா கட்டளையிட்டபடியெல்லாம் செய்தார்கள்; அதற்குப்பின்பு தேவன் தேசத்திற்காகச் செய்யப்பட்ட வேண்டுதலைக் கேட்டருளினார்.

And the bones of Saul and Jonathan his son buried they in the country of Benjamin in Zelah, in the sepulchre of Kish his father: and they performed all that the king commanded. And after that God was intreated for the land.

பின்பு பெலிஸ்தர் இஸ்ரவேலின்மேல் யுத்தம்செய்தார்கள்; அப்பொழுது தாவீதும் அவனோடேகூட அவன் சேவகரும் போய், பெலிஸ்தரோடு யுத்தம்பண்ணினார்கள்; தாவீது விடாய்த்துப்போனான்.

Moreover the Philistines had yet war again with Israel; and David went down, and his servants with him, and fought against the Philistines: and David waxed faint.

அப்பொழுது முந்நூறு சேக்கல் நிறை வெண்கலமான ஈட்டியைப் பிடிக்கிறவனும், புதுப்பட்டயத்தை அரையிலே கட்டிக்கொண்டவனுமான இஸ்பிபெனோப் என்னும் இராட்சத புத்திரரில் ஒருவன் தாவீதை வெட்டவேண்டும் என்று இருந்தான்.

And Ishbibenob, which was of the sons of the giant, the weight of whose spear weighed three hundred shekels of brass in weight, he being girded with a new sword, thought to have slain David.

செருயாவின் குமாரனாகிய அபிசாய் ராஜாவுக்கு உதவியாக வந்து, பெலிஸ்தனை வெட்டிக் கொன்றுபோட்டான். அப்பொழுது தாவீதின் மனுஷர்: இஸ்ரவேலின் விளக்கு அணைந்துபோகாதபடிக்கு, நீர் இனி எங்களோடே யுத்தத்திற்குப் புறப்படவேண்டாம் என்று அவனுக்கு ஆணையிட்டுச் சொன்னார்கள்.

But Abishai the son of Zeruiah succoured him, and smote the Philistine, and killed him. Then the men of David sware unto him, saying, Thou shalt go no more out with us to battle, that thou quench not the light of Israel.

அதற்குப் பின்பு பெலிஸ்தரோடே திரும்பவும் கோபிலே யுத்தம்நடந்தது; ஊசாத்தியனாகிய சீபேக்காய் இராட்சத சந்ததியான சாப்பை வெட்டிப்போட்டான்.

And it came to pass after this, that there was again a battle with the Philistines at Gob: then Sibbechai the Hushathite slew Saph, which was of the sons of the giant.

பெலிஸ்தரோடு இன்னும் வேறொரு யுத்தம் கோபிலே உண்டானபோது, யாரெயொர்கிமின் குமாரனாகிய எல்க்கானான் என்னும் பெத்லகேமியன் காத் ஊரானாகிய கோலியாத்தின் சகோதரனை வெட்டினான்; அவன் ஈட்டித் தாங்கானது நெய்கிறவர்களின் படைமரம் அவ்வளவு பெரிதாயிருந்தது.

இன்னும் ஒரு யுத்தம் காத் ஊரிலே நடந்தபோது, அங்கே நெட்டையனான ஒரு மனுஷன் இருந்தான்; அவன் கைகளில் அவ்வாறு விரல்களும் அவன் கால்களில் அவ்வாறு விரல்களும், ஆக இருபத்து நான்கு விரல்களுள்ளவன்; இவனும் இராட்சத பிறவியாயிருந்து,

And there was yet a battle in Gath, where was a man of great stature, that had on every hand six fingers, and on every foot six toes, four and twenty in number; and he also was born to the giant.

And when he defied Israel, Jonathan the son of Shimea the brother of David slew him.

இந்த நாலுபேரும் காத்தூரிலே இராட்சதனுக்குப் பிறந்தவர்கள்; இவர்கள் தாவீதின் கையினாலும் அவன் சேவகரின் கையினாலும் மடிந்தார்கள்.

These four were born to the giant in Gath, and fell by the hand of David, and by the hand of his servants.

பூமிக்குரிய கூடாரமாகிய நம்முடைய வீடு அழிந்துபோனாலும், தேவனால் கட்டப்பட்ட கைவேலையல்லாத நித்திய வீடு பரலோகத்தில் நமக்கு உண்டென்று அறிந்திருக்கிறோம்.

For we know that if our earthly house of this tabernacle were dissolved, we have a building of God, an house not made with hands, eternal in the heavens.

ஏனெனில், இந்தக் கூடாரத்திலே நாம் தவித்து, நம்முடைய பரம வாசஸ்தலத்தைத் தரித்துக்கொள்ள மிகவும் வாஞ்சையுள்ளவர்களாயிருக்கிறோம்;

For in this we groan, earnestly desiring to be clothed upon with our house which is from heaven:

தரித்துக்கொண்டவர்களானால், நிர்வாணிகளாய்க் காணப்படமாட்டோம்.

If so be that being clothed we shall not be found naked.

இந்தக் கூடாரத்திலிருக்கிற நாம் பாரஞ்சுமந்து தவிக்கிறோம்; இந்தப் போர்வையைக் களைந்துபோடவேண்டுமென்று விரும்பாமல், மரணமானது ஜீவனாலே விழுங்கப்படுவதற்காகப் போர்வை தரித்தவர்களாயிருக்கவேண்டுமென்று விரும்புகிறோம்.

For we that are in this tabernacle do groan, being burdened: not for that we would be unclothed, but clothed upon, that mortality might be swallowed up of life.

இதற்கு நம்மை ஆயத்தப்படுத்துகிறவர் தேவனே; ஆவியென்னும் அச்சாரத்தை நமக்குத் தந்தவரும் அவரே.

Now he that hath wrought us for the selfsame thing is God, who also hath given unto us the earnest of the Spirit.

நாம் தரிசித்து நடவாமல், விசுவாசித்து நடக்கிறோம்.

Therefore we are always confident, knowing that, whilst we are at home in the body, we are absent from the Lord:

இந்தத் தேகத்தில் குடியிருக்கையில் கர்த்தரிடத்தில் குடியிராதவர்களாயிருக்கிறோமென்று அறிந்தும், எப்பொழுதும் தைரியமாயிருக்கிறோம்.

For we walk by faith, not by sight:)

நாம் தைரியமாகவேயிருந்து, இந்தத் தேகத்தைவிட்டுக் குடிபோகவும் கர்த்தரிடத்தில் குடியிருக்கவும் அதிகமாய் விரும்புகிறோம்.

We are confident, I say, and willing rather to be absent from the body, and to be present with the Lord.

அதினிமித்தமே நாம் சரீரத்தில் குடியிருந்தாலும் குடியிராமற்போனாலும் அவருக்குப் பிரியமானவர்களாயிருக்க நாடுகிறோம்.

Wherefore we labour, that, whether present or absent, we may be accepted of him.

ஏனென்றால், சரீரத்தில் அவனவன் செய்த நன்மைக்காவது தீமைக்காவது தக்க பலனை அடையும்படிக்கு, நாமெல்லாரும் கிறிஸ்துவின் நியாயாசனத்திற்கு முன்பாக வெளிப்படவேண்டும்.

For we must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ; that every one may receive the things done in his body, according to that he hath done, whether it be good or bad.

ஆகையால், கர்த்தருக்கு பயப்படத்தக்கதென்று அறிந்து, மனுஷருக்குப் புத்திசொல்லுகிறோம்; தேவனுக்கு முன்பாக வெளியரங்கமாயிருக்கிறோம்; உங்கள் மனச்சாட்சிக்கும் வெளியரங்கமாயிருக்கிறோம் என்று நம்புகிறேன்.

Knowing therefore the terror of the Lord, we persuade men; but we are made manifest unto God; and I trust also are made manifest in your consciences.

இதனாலே நாங்கள் உங்களுக்கு முன்பாக எங்களை மறுபடியும் மெச்சிக்கொள்ளாமல், இருதயத்திலல்ல, வெளிவேஷத்தில் மேன்மை பாராட்டுகிறவர்களுக்கு எதிரே எங்களைக்குறித்து நீங்கள் மேன்மைபாராட்டும்படிக்கு ஏதுவுண்டாக்குகிறோம்.

For we commend not ourselves again unto you, but give you occasion to glory on our behalf, that ye may have somewhat to answer them which glory in appearance, and not in heart.

நாங்கள் பைத்தியங்கொண்டவர்களென்றால் தேவனுக்காக அப்படியிருக்கும்; தெளிந்தபுத்தியுள்ளவர்களென்றால் உங்களுக்காக அப்படியிருக்கும்.

For whether we be beside ourselves, it is to God: or whether we be sober, it is for your cause.

கிறிஸ்துவினுடைய அன்பு எங்களை நெருக்கி ஏவுகிறது; ஏனென்றால், எல்லாருக்காகவும் ஒருவரே மரித்திருக்க, எல்லாரும் மரித்தார்கள் என்றும்;

For the love of Christ constraineth us; because we thus judge, that if one died for all, then were all dead:

பிழைத்திருக்கிறவர்கள் இனித் தங்களுக்கென்று பிழைத்திராமல், தங்களுக்காக மரித்து எழுந்தவருக்கென்று பிழைத்திருக்கும்படி, அவர் எல்லாருக்காகவும் மரித்தாரென்றும் நிதானிக்கிறோம்.

And that he died for all, that they which live should not henceforth live unto themselves, but unto him which died for them, and rose again.

ஆகையால், இதுமுதற்கொண்டு, நாங்கள் ஒருவனையும் மாம்சத்தின்படி அறியோம்; நாங்கள் கிறிஸ்துவையும் மாம்சத்தின்படி அறிந்திருந்தாலும், இனி ஒருபோதும் அவரை மாம்சத்தின்படி அறியோம்.

Wherefore henceforth know we no man after the flesh: yea, though we have known Christ after the flesh, yet now henceforth know we him no more.

இப்படியிருக்க, ஒருவன் கிறிஸ்துவுக்குள்ளிருந்தால் புதுசிருஷ்டியாயிருக்கிறான்; பழையவைகள் ஒழிந்து போயின, எல்லாம் புதிதாயின.

Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new.

இவையெல்லாம் தேவனாலே உண்டாயிருக்கிறது; அவர் இயேசுகிறிஸ்துவைக்கொண்டு நம்மைத் தம்மோடே ஒப்புரவாக்கி, ஒப்புரவாக்குதலின் ஊழியத்தை எங்களுக்கு ஒப்புக்கொடுத்தார்.

And all things are of God, who hath reconciled us to himself by Jesus Christ, and hath given to us the ministry of reconciliation;

அதென்னவெனில், தேவன் உலகத்தாருடைய பாவங்களை எண்ணாமல், கிறிஸ்துவுக்குள் அவர்களைத் தமக்கு ஒப்புரவாக்கி, ஒப்புரவாக்குதலின் உபதேசத்தை எங்களிடத்தில் ஒப்புவித்தார்.

To wit, that God was in Christ, reconciling the world unto himself, not imputing their trespasses unto them; and hath committed unto us the word of reconciliation.

ஆனபடியினாலே, தேவனானவர் எங்களைக்கொண்டு புத்திசொல்லுகிறதுபோல, நாங்கள் கிறிஸ்துவுக்காக ஸ்தானாபதிகளாயிருந்து, தேவனோடே ஒப்புரவாகுங்கள் என்று, கிறிஸ்துவினிமித்தம் உங்களை வேண்டிக்கொள்ளுகிறோம்.

Now then we are ambassadors for Christ, as though God did beseech you by us: we pray you in Christ's stead, be ye reconciled to God.

நாம் அவருக்குள் தேவனுடைய நீதியாகும்படிக்கு, பாவம் அறியாத அவரை நமக்காகப் பாவமாக்கினார்.

For he hath made him to be sin for us, who knew no sin; that we might be made the righteousness of God in him.

தேவனுடைய கிருபையை நீங்கள் விருதாவாய்ப் பெறாதபடிக்கு, உடன் வேலையாட்களாகிய நாங்கள் உங்களுக்குப் புத்திசொல்லுகிறோம்.

We then, as workers together with him, beseech you also that ye receive not the grace of God in vain.

அநுக்கிரக காலத்திலே நான் உனக்குச் செவிகொடுத்து, இரட்சணியநாளிலே உனக்கு உதவிசெய்தேன் என்று சொல்லியிருக்கிறாரே; இதோ, இப்பொழுதே அநுக்கிரககாலம், இப்பொழுதே இரட்சணியநாள்.

For he saith, I have heard thee in a time accepted, and in the day of salvation have I succoured thee: behold, now is the accepted time; behold, now is the day of salvation.)

இந்த ஊழியம் குற்றப்படாதபடிக்கு, நாங்கள் யாதொன்றிலும் இடறல் உண்டாக்காமல், எவ்விதத்தினாலேயும், எங்களை தேவஊழியக்காரராக விளங்கப்பண்ணுகிறோம்.

Giving no offence in any thing, that the ministry be not blamed:

மிகுந்த பொறுமையிலும், உபத்திரவங்களிலும், நெருக்கங்களிலும், இடுக்கண்களிலும்,

But in all things approving ourselves as the ministers of God, in much patience, in afflictions, in necessities, in distresses,

அடிகளிலும், காவல்களிலும், கலகங்களிலும், பிரயாசங்களிலும், கண்விழிப்புகளிலும், உபவாசங்களிலும்,

In stripes, in imprisonments, in tumults, in labours, in watchings, in fastings;

கற்பிலும், அறிவிலும், நீடிய சாந்தத்திலும், தயவிலும், பரிசுத்த ஆவியிலும், மாயமற்ற அன்பிலும்,

By pureness, by knowledge, by longsuffering, by kindness, by the Holy Ghost, by love unfeigned,

சத்தியவசனத்திலும், திவ்விய பலத்திலும்; நீதியாகிய வலதிடதுபக்கத்து ஆயுதங்களைத் தரித்திருக்கிறதிலும்,

By the word of truth, by the power of God, by the armour of righteousness on the right hand and on the left,

கனத்திலும், கனவீனத்திலும், துர்க்கீர்த்தியிலும், நற்கீர்த்தியிலும்; எத்தரென்னப்பட்டாலும் நிஜஸ்தராகவும்,

By honour and dishonour, by evil report and good report: as deceivers, and yet true;

அறியப்படாதவர்களென்னப்பட்டாலும் நன்றாய் அறியப்பட்டவர்களாகவும், சாகிறவர்கள் என்னப்பட்டாலும் உயிரோடிருக்கிறவர்களாகவும், தண்டிக்கப்படுகிறவர்கள் என்னப்பட்டாலும் கொல்லப்படாதவர்களாகவும்,

As unknown, and yet well known; as dying, and, behold, we live; as chastened, and not killed;

துக்கப்படுகிறவர்கள் என்னப்பட்டாலும் எப்பொழுதும் சந்தோஷப்படுகிறவர்களாகவும், தரித்திரர் என்னப்பட்டாலும் அநேகரை ஐசுவரியவான்களாக்குகிறவர்களாகவும், ஒன்றுமில்லாதவர்களென்னப்பட்டாலும் சகலத்தையுமுடையவர்களாகவும் எங்களை விளங்கப்பண்ணுகிறோம்.

As sorrowful, yet alway rejoicing; as poor, yet making many rich; as having nothing, and yet possessing all things.

கொரிந்தியரே, எங்கள் வாய் உங்களோடே பேசத் திறந்திருக்கிறது, எங்கள் இருதயம் பூரித்திருக்கிறது.

O ye Corinthians, our mouth is open unto you, our heart is enlarged.

எங்கள் உள்ளம் உங்களைக்குறித்து நெருக்கமடையவில்லை, உங்கள் உள்ளமே எங்களைக்குறித்து நெருக்கமடைந்திருக்கிறது.

Ye are not straitened in us, but ye are straitened in your own bowels.

ஆதலால் அதற்குப் பதிலீடாக நீங்களும் பூரிப்பாகுங்களென்று, பிள்ளைகளுக்குச் சொல்லுகிறதுபோல, உங்களுக்குச் சொல்லுகிறேன்.

Now for a recompence in the same, (I speak as unto my children,) be ye also enlarged.

அந்நிய நுகத்திலே அவிசுவாசிகளுடன் பிணைக்கப்படாதிருப்பீர்களாக; நீதிக்கும் அநீதிக்கும் சம்பந்தமேது? ஒளிக்கும் இருளுக்கும் ஐக்கியமேது?

Be ye not unequally yoked together with unbelievers: for what fellowship hath righteousness with unrighteousness? and what communion hath light with darkness?

கிறிஸ்துவுக்கும் பேலியாளுக்கும் இசைவேது? அவிசுவாசியுடனே விசுவாசிக்குப் பங்கேது?

And what concord hath Christ with Belial? or what part hath he that believeth with an infidel?

தேவனுடைய ஆலயத்துக்கும் விக்கிரகங்களுக்கும் சம்பந்தமேது? நான் அவர்களுக்குள்ளே வாசம்பண்ணி, அவர்களுக்குள்ளே உலாவி, அவர்கள் தேவனாயிருப்பேன், அவர்கள் என் ஜனங்களாயிருப்பார்கள் என்று, தேவன் சொன்னபடி, நீங்கள் ஜீவனுள்ள தேவனுடைய ஆலயமாயிருக்கிறீர்களே.

And what agreement hath the temple of God with idols? for ye are the temple of the living God; as God hath said, I will dwell in them, and walk in them; and I will be their God, and they shall be my people.

ஆனபடியால், நீங்கள் அவர்கள் நடுவிலிருந்து புறப்பட்டுப் பிரிந்துபோய், அசுத்தமானதைத் தொடாதிருங்கள் என்று கர்த்தர் சொல்லுகிறார்.

Wherefore come out from among them, and be ye separate, saith the Lord, and touch not the unclean thing; and I will receive you,

அப்பொழுது, நான் உங்களை ஏற்றுக்கொண்டு, உங்களுக்குப் பிதாவாயிருப்பேன், நீங்கள் எனக்குக் குமாரரும் குமாரத்திகளுமாயிருப்பீர்களென்று சர்வவல்லமையுள்ள கர்த்தர் சொல்லுகிறார்.

And will be a Father unto you, and ye shall be my sons and daughters, saith the Lord Almighty.
