1சாமுவேல் அத்தியாயம் 15

பின்பு சாமுவேல் சவுலை நோக்கி: இஸ்ரவேலராகிய தம்முடைய ஜனங்கள்மேல் உம்மை ராஜாவாக அபிஷேகம்பண்ணுகிறதற்குக் கர்த்தர் என்னை அனுப்பினாரே; இப்போதும் கர்த்தருடைய வார்த்தைகளின் சத்தத்தைக் கேளும்:

Samuel also said unto Saul, The LORD sent me to anoint thee to be king over his people, over Israel: now therefore hearken thou unto the voice of the words of the LORD.

சேனைகளின் கர்த்தர் சொல்லுகிறது என்னவென்றால், இஸ்ரவேலர் எகிப்திலிருந்து வந்தபோது, அமலேக்கு அவர்களுக்கு வழிமறித்த செய்கையை மனதிலே வைத்திருக்கிறேன்.

Thus saith the LORD of hosts, I remember that which Amalek did to Israel, how he laid wait for him in the way, when he came up from Egypt.

இப்போதும் நீ போய், அமலேக்கை மடங்கடித்து, அவனுக்கு உண்டான எல்லாவற்றையும் சங்கரித்து அவன்மேல் இரக்கம் வைக்காமல், புருஷரையும், ஸ்திரீகளையும், பிள்ளைகளையும், குழந்தைகளையும், மாடுகளையும், ஆடுகளையும், ஒட்டகங்களையும், கழுதைகளையும் கொன்று போடக்கடவாய் என்கிறார் என்று சொன்னான்.

Now go and smite Amalek, and utterly destroy all that they have, and spare them not; but slay both man and woman, infant and suckling, ox and sheep, camel and ass.

அப்பொழுது சவுல்: இதை ஜனங்களுக்கு அறியப்படுத்தி, தெலாயிமிலே அவர்களைத் தொகை பார்த்தான்; அவர்கள் இரண்டு லட்சம் காலாட்களும், யூதா ஜனங்கள் பதினாயிரம்பேருமாயிருந்தார்கள்.

And Saul gathered the people together, and numbered them in Telaim, two hundred thousand footmen, and ten thousand men of Judah.

சவுல் அமலேக்குடைய பட்டணமட்டும் வந்து, பள்ளத்தாக்கிலே ஒரு பதிவிடையை வைத்தான்.

And Saul came to a city of Amalek, and laid wait in the valley.

சவுல் கேனியரை நோக்கி: நான் அமலேக்கியரோடேகூட உங்களையும் வாரிக்கொள்ளாதபடிக்கு, நீங்கள் அவர்கள் நடுவிலிருந்து புறப்பட்டு விலகிப்போங்கள்; இஸ்ரவேல் எகிப்திலிருந்து வந்தபோது, நீங்கள் அவர்கள் எல்லாருக்கும் தயவுசெய்தீர்கள் என்றான்; அப்படியே கேனியர் அமலேக்கியரின் நடுவிலிருந்து விலகிப்போனார்கள்.

And Saul said unto the Kenites, Go, depart, get you down from among the Amalekites, lest I destroy you with them: for ye shewed kindness to all the children of Israel, when they came up out of Egypt. So the Kenites departed from among the Amalekites.

அப்பொழுது சவுல்: ஆவிலாதுவக்கி எகிப்திற்கு எதிரேயிருக்கிற சூருக்குப்போகும் எல்லைமட்டும் இருந்த அமலேக்கியரை மடங்கடித்து,

And Saul smote the Amalekites from Havilah until thou comest to Shur, that is over against Egypt.

அமலேக்கியரின் ராஜாவாகிய ஆகாகை உயிரோடே பிடித்தான்; ஜனங்கள் யாவரையும் பட்டயக் கருக்கினாலே சங்காரம்பண்ணினான்.

And he took Agag the king of the Amalekites alive, and utterly destroyed all the people with the edge of the sword.

சவுலும் ஜனங்களும் ஆகாகையும், ஆடுமாடுகளில் முதல்தரமானவைகளையும், இரண்டாந்தரமானவைகளையும், ஆட்டுக்குட்டிகளையும், நலமான எல்லாவற்றையும், அழித்துப்போட மனதில்லாமல் தப்பவைத்து, அற்பமானவைகளும் உதவாதவைகளுமான சகல வஸ்துக்களையும் முற்றிலும் அழித்துப்போட்டார்கள்.

But Saul and the people spared Agag, and the best of the sheep, and of the oxen, and of the fatlings, and the lambs, and all that was good, and would not utterly destroy them: but every thing that was vile and refuse, that they destroyed utterly.

அப்பொழுது கர்த்தருடைய வார்த்தை சாமுவேலுக்கு உண்டாகி, அவர் சொன்னது:

Then came the word of the LORD unto Samuel, saying,

நான் சவுலை ராஜாவாக்கினது எனக்கு மனஸ்தாபமாயிருக்கிறது; அவன் என்னைவிட்டுத் திரும்பி, என் வார்த்தைகளை நிறைவேற்றாமற்போனான் என்றார்; அப்பொழுது சாமுவேல் மனம் நொந்து, இராமுழுதும் கர்த்தரை நோக்கிக் கூப்பிட்டான்.

It repenteth me that I have set up Saul to be king: for he is turned back from following me, and hath not performed my commandments. And it grieved Samuel; and he cried unto the LORD all night.

மறுநாள் அதிகாலமே சாமுவேல் சவுலைச் சந்திக்கப்போனான்; அப்பொழுது சவுல் கர்மேலுக்கு வந்து, தனக்கு ஒரு ஜெயஸ்தம்பம் நாட்டி, பின்பு பல இடங்களில் சென்று கில்காலுக்குப் போனான் என்று, சாமுவேலுக்கு அறிவிக்கப்பட்டது.

And when Samuel rose early to meet Saul in the morning, it was told Samuel, saying, Saul came to Carmel, and, behold, he set him up a place, and is gone about, and passed on, and gone down to Gilgal.

சாமுவேல் சவுலினிடத்தில் போனான்; சவுல் அவனை நோக்கி: நீர் கர்த்தரால் ஆசீர்வதிக்கப்பட்டவர்; கர்த்தருடைய வார்த்தையை நிறைவேற்றினேன் என்றான்.

And Samuel came to Saul: and Saul said unto him, Blessed be thou of the LORD: I have performed the commandment of the LORD.

அதற்குச் சாமுவேல்: அப்படியானால் என் காதுகளில் விழுகிற ஆடுகளின் சத்தமும், எனக்குக் கேட்கிற மாடுகளின் சத்தமும் என்ன என்றான்.

And Samuel said, What meaneth then this bleating of the sheep in mine ears, and the lowing of the oxen which I hear?

அதற்குச் சவுல்: அமலேக்கியரிடத்திலிருந்து அவைகளைக் கொண்டு வந்தார்கள்; ஜனங்கள் ஆடுமாடுகளில் நலமானவைகளை உம்முடைய தேவனாகிய கர்த்தருக்குப் பலியிடும்படிக்குத் தப்பவைத்தார்கள்; மற்றவைகளை முற்றிலும் அழித்துப்போட்டோம் என்றான்.

And Saul said, They have brought them from the Amalekites: for the people spared the best of the sheep and of the oxen, to sacrifice unto the LORD thy God; and the rest we have utterly destroyed.

அப்பொழுது சாமுவேல்: அந்தப் பேச்சை விடும், கர்த்தர் இந்த இராத்திரியிலே எனக்குச் சொன்னதை உமக்கு அறிவிக்கிறேன் என்று சவுலோடே சொன்னான். அவன்: சொல்லும் என்றான்.

Then Samuel said unto Saul, Stay, and I will tell thee what the LORD hath said to me this night. And he said unto him, Say on.

அப்பொழுது சாமுவேல்: நீர் உம்முடைய பார்வைக்குச் சிறியவராயிருந்தபோது அல்லவோ இஸ்ரவேல் கோத்திரங்களுக்குத் தலைவரானீர்; கர்த்தர் உம்மை இஸ்ரவேலின்மேல் ராஜாவாக அபிஷேகம் பண்ணுவித்தாரே.

And Samuel said, When thou wast little in thine own sight, wast thou not made the head of the tribes of Israel, and the LORD anointed thee king over Israel?

இப்போதும் கர்த்தர்: நீ போய் அமலேக்கியராகிய அந்தப் பாவிகளைச் சங்கரித்து, அவர்களை நிர்மூலமாக்கித் தீருமட்டும், அவர்களோடு யுத்தம்பண்ணு என்று சொல்லி, உம்மை அந்த வழியாய் அனுப்பினார்.

And the LORD sent thee on a journey, and said, Go and utterly destroy the sinners the Amalekites, and fight against them until they be consumed.

இப்படியிருக்க, நீர் கர்த்தருடைய சொல்லைக்கேளாமல், கொள்ளையின்மேல் பறந்து, கர்த்தருடைய பார்வைக்குப் பொல்லாப்பானதைச் செய்தது என்ன என்றான்.

Wherefore then didst thou not obey the voice of the LORD, but didst fly upon the spoil, and didst evil in the sight of the LORD?

சவுல் சாமுவேலை நோக்கி: நான் கர்த்தருடைய சொல்லைக் கேட்டு, கர்த்தர் என்னை அனுப்பின வழியாய்ப் போய், அமலேக்கின் ராஜாவாகிய ஆகாகைக் கொண்டுவந்து, அமலேக்கியரைச் சங்காரம் பண்ணினேன்.

And Saul said unto Samuel, Yea, I have obeyed the voice of the LORD, and have gone the way which the LORD sent me, and have brought Agag the king of Amalek, and have utterly destroyed the Amalekites.

ஜனங்களோ உம்முடைய தேவனாகிய கர்த்தருக்குக் கில்காலிலே பலியிடுகிறதற்காக, கொள்ளையிலே சாபத்தீடாகும் ஆடுமாடுகளிலே பிரதானமானவைகளைப் பிடித்துக்கொண்டு வந்தார்கள் என்றான்.

But the people took of the spoil, sheep and oxen, the chief of the things which should have been utterly destroyed, to sacrifice unto the LORD thy God in Gilgal.

அதற்குச் சாமுவேல்: கர்த்தருடைய சத்தத்திற்குக் கீழ்ப்படிகிறதைப்பார்க்கிலும், சர்வாங்க தகனங்களும் பலிகளும் கர்த்தருக்குப் பிரியமாயிருக்குமோ? பலியைப்பார்க்கிலும் கீழ்ப்படிதலும், ஆட்டுக்கடாக்களின் நிணத்தைப்பார்க்கிலும் செவிகொடுத்தலும் உத்தமம்.

And Samuel said, Hath the LORD as great delight in burnt offerings and sacrifices, as in obeying the voice of the LORD? Behold, to obey is better than sacrifice, and to hearken than the fat of rams.

இரண்டகம்பண்ணுதல் பில்லிசூனிய பாவத்திற்கும், முரட்டாட்டம்பண்ணுதல் அவபக்திக்கும் விக்கிரகாராதனைக்கும் சரியாய் இருக்கிறது; நீர் கர்த்தருடைய வார்த்தையைப் புறக்கணித்தபடியினாலே, அவர் உம்மை ராஜாவாயிராதபடிக்குப் புறக்கணித்துத் தள்ளினார் என்றான்.

For rebellion is as the sin of witchcraft, and stubbornness is as iniquity and idolatry. Because thou hast rejected the word of the LORD, he hath also rejected thee from being king.

அப்பொழுது சவுல் சாமுவேலை நோக்கி: நான் கர்த்தருடைய கட்டளையையும் உம்முடைய வார்த்தைகளையும் மீறினதினாலே பாவஞ்செய்தேன்; நான் ஜனங்களுக்குப் பயந்து, அவர்கள் சொல்லைக் கேட்டேன்.

And Saul said unto Samuel, I have sinned: for I have transgressed the commandment of the LORD, and thy words: because I feared the people, and obeyed their voice.

இப்போதும் நீர் என் பாவத்தை மன்னித்து, நான் கர்த்தரைப் பணிந்துகொள்ளும்படிக்கு, என்னோடேகூடத் திரும்பிவாரும் என்றான்.

Now therefore, I pray thee, pardon my sin, and turn again with me, that I may worship the LORD.

சாமுவேல் சவுலைப் பார்த்து: நான் உம்மோடேகூடத் திரும்பிவருவதில்லை; கர்த்தருடைய வார்த்தையைப் புறக்கணித்தீர்; நீர் இஸ்ரவேலின்மேல் ராஜாவாயிராதபடிக்கு, கர்த்தர் உம்மையும் புறக்கணித்துத் தள்ளினார் என்றான்.

And Samuel said unto Saul, I will not return with thee: for thou hast rejected the word of the LORD, and the LORD hath rejected thee from being king over Israel.

போகும்படி சாமுவேல் திரும்புகிறபோது, சவுல், அவன் சால்வையின் தொங்கலைப் பிடித்துக் கொண்டான், அது கிழிந்துபோயிற்று.

And as Samuel turned about to go away, he laid hold upon the skirt of his mantle, and it rent.

அப்பொழுது சாமுவேல் அவனை நோக்கி: கர்த்தர் இன்று உம்மிடத்திலிருந்த இஸ்ரவேலின் ராஜ்யத்தைக் கிழித்துப்போட்டு, உம்மைப்பார்க்கிலும் உத்தமனாயிருக்கிற உம்முடைய தோழனுக்கு அதைக் கொடுத்தார்.

And Samuel said unto him, The LORD hath rent the kingdom of Israel from thee this day, and hath given it to a neighbour of thine, that is better than thou.

இஸ்ரவேலின் ஜெயபலமானவர் பொய் சொல்லுகிறதும் இல்லை; தாம் சொன்னதைப்பற்றி மனஸ்தாபப்படுகிறதும் இல்லை; மனம் மாற அவர் மனுஷன் அல்ல என்றான்.

And also the Strength of Israel will not lie nor repent: for he is not a man, that he should repent.

அதற்கு அவன்: நான் பாவஞ்செய்தேன்; இப்போது என் ஜனத்தின் மூப்பருக்கு முன்பாகவும், இஸ்ரவேலுக்கு முன்பாகவும் நீர் என்னைக் கனம்பண்ணி, நான் உம்முடைய தேவனாகிய கர்த்தரைப் பணிந்துகொள்ளும்படிக்கு, என்னோடேகூடத் திரும்பிவாரும் என்றான்.

Then he said, I have sinned: yet honour me now, I pray thee, before the elders of my people, and before Israel, and turn again with me, that I may worship the LORD thy God.

அப்பொழுது சாமுவேல் திரும்பிச் சவுலுக்குப் பின்சென்றான்; சவுல் கர்த்தரைப் பணிந்துகொண்டான்.

So Samuel turned again after Saul; and Saul worshipped the LORD.

பின்பு சாமுவேல்: அமலேக்கின் ராஜாவாகிய ஆகாகை என்னிடத்தில் கொண்டுவாருங்கள் என்றான்; ஆகாக் சந்தோஷமாய் அவனிடத்தில் வந்து, மரணத்தின் கசப்பு அற்றுப்போனது நிச்சயம் என்றான்.

Then said Samuel, Bring ye hither to me Agag the king of the Amalekites. And Agag came unto him delicately. And Agag said, Surely the bitterness of death is past.

சாமுவேல்: உன் பட்டயம் ஸ்திரீகளைப் பிள்ளையற்றவர்களாக்கினதுபோல, ஸ்திரீகளுக்குள்ளே உன் தாயும் பிள்ளையற்றவளாவாள் என்று சொல்லி, சாமுவேல் கில்காலிலே கர்த்தருக்கு முன்பாக ஆகாகைத் துண்டித்துப் போட்டான்.

And Samuel said, As thy sword hath made women childless, so shall thy mother be childless among women. And Samuel hewed Agag in pieces before the LORD in Gilgal.

பின்பு சாமுவேல் ராமாவுக்குப் போனான்; சவுலோ தன் ஊராகிய கிபியாவிலிருக்கிற தன் வீட்டுக்குப் போய்விட்டான்.

Then Samuel went to Ramah; and Saul went up to his house to Gibeah of Saul.

சவுல் மரணமடையும் நாள்மட்டும் சாமுவேல் அப்புறம் அவனைக் கண்டு பேசவில்லை; இஸ்ரவேலின்மேல் சவுலை ராஜாவாக்கினதற்காகக் கர்த்தர் மனஸ்தாபப்பட்டதினிமித்தம், சாமுவேல் சவுலுக்காகத் துக்கித்துக் கொண்டிருந்தான்.

And Samuel came no more to see Saul until the day of his death: nevertheless Samuel mourned for Saul: and the LORD repented that he had made Saul king over Israel.

1சாமுவேல் அத்தியாயம் 16

கர்த்தர் சாமுவேலை நோக்கி: இஸ்ரவேலின்மேல் ராஜாவாயிராதபடிக்கு, நான் புறக்கணித்துத் தள்ளின சவுலுக்காக நீ எந்தமட்டும் துக்கித்துக்கொண்டிருப்பாய்; நீ உன் கொம்பை தைலத்தால் நிரப்பிக்கொண்டுவா; பெத்லெகேமியனாகிய ஈசாயினிடத்துக்கு உன்னை அனுப்புவேன்; அவன் குமாரரில் ஒருவனை நான் ராஜாவாகத் தெரிந்துகொண்டேன் என்றார்.

And the LORD said unto Samuel, How long wilt thou mourn for Saul, seeing I have rejected him from reigning over Israel? fill thine horn with oil, and go, I will send thee to Jesse the Bethlehemite: for I have provided me a king among his sons.

அதற்குச் சாமுவேல்: நான் எப்படிப்போவேன்; சவுல் இதைக் கேள்விப்பட்டால், என்னைக் கொன்றுபோடுவானே என்றான்; அப்பொழுது கர்த்தர்: நீ ஒரு காளையைக் கையோடே கொண்டுபோய், கர்த்தருக்குப் பலியிடவந்தேன் என்று சொல்லி,

And Samuel said, How can I go? if Saul hear it, he will kill me. And the LORD said, Take an heifer with thee, and say, I am come to sacrifice to the LORD.

ஈசாயைப் பலிவிருந்துக்கு அழைப்பாயாக; அப்பொழுது நீ செய்யவேண்டியதை நான் உனக்கு அறிவிப்பேன்; நான் உனக்குச் சொல்லுகிறவனை எனக்காக அபிஷேகம்பண்ணுவாயாக என்றார்.

And call Jesse to the sacrifice, and I will shew thee what thou shalt do: and thou shalt anoint unto me him whom I name unto thee.

கர்த்தர் சொன்னபடியே சாமுவேல் செய்து, பெத்லெகேமுக்குப் போனான்; அப்பொழுது அவ்வூரின் மூப்பர் தத்தளிப்போடே அவனுக்கு எதிர்கொண்டுவந்து, நீர் வருகிறது சமாதானமா என்றார்கள்.

And Samuel did that which the LORD spake, and came to Bethlehem. And the elders of the town trembled at his coming, and said, Comest thou peaceably?

அதற்கு அவன்: சமாதானந்தான்; கர்த்தருக்குப் பலியிடவந்தேன்; நீங்கள் உங்களைப் பரிசுத்தம் பண்ணிக்கொண்டு, என்னுடனேகூடப் பலிவிருந்துக்கு வாருங்கள் என்றான்; மேலும் ஈசாயையும் அவன் குமாரரையும் பரிசுத்தம்பண்ணி, அவர்களைப் பலிவிருந்துக்கு அழைத்தான்.

And he said, Peaceably: I am come to sacrifice unto the LORD: sanctify yourselves, and come with me to the sacrifice. And he sanctified Jesse and his sons, and called them to the sacrifice.

அவர்கள் வந்தபோது, அவன் எலியாபைப் பார்த்தவுடனே: கர்த்தரால் அபிஷேகம் பண்ணப்படுபவன் இவன்தானாக்கும் என்றான்.

And it came to pass, when they were come, that he looked on Eliab, and said, Surely the LORD'S anointed is before him.

கர்த்தர் சாமுவேலை நோக்கி: நீ இவனுடைய முகத்தையும், இவனுடைய சரீரவளர்ச்சியையும் பார்க்கவேண்டாம்; நான் இவனைப் புறக்கணித்தேன்; மனுஷன் பார்க்கிறபடி நான் பாரேன்; மனுஷன் முகத்தைப் பார்ப்பான்; கர்த்தரோ இருதயத்தைப் பார்க்கிறார் என்றார்.

But the LORD said unto Samuel, Look not on his countenance, or on the height of his stature; because I have refused him: for the LORD seeth not as man seeth; for man looketh on the outward appearance, but the LORD looketh on the heart.

அப்பொழுது ஈசாய் அபினதாபை அழைத்து, அவனைச் சாமுவேலுக்கு முன்பாகக் கடந்துபோகப்பண்ணினான்; அவன்: இவனையும் கர்த்தர் தெரிந்து கொள்ளவில்லை என்றான்.

Then Jesse called Abinadab, and made him pass before Samuel. And he said, Neither hath the LORD chosen this.

ஈசாய் சம்மாவையும் கடந்துபோகப்பண்ணினான்; அவன்: இவனையும் கர்த்தர் தெரிந்துகொள்ளவில்லை என்றான்.

Then Jesse made Shammah to pass by. And he said, Neither hath the LORD chosen this.

இப்படி ஈசாய் தன் குமாரரில் ஏழு பேரை சாமுவேலுக்கு முன்பாகக் கடந்துபோகப்பண்ணினான்; பின்பு சாமுவேல் ஈசாயைப் பார்த்து: கர்த்தர் இவர்களில் ஒருவனையும் தெரிந்துகொள்ளவில்லை என்று சொல்லி;

Again, Jesse made seven of his sons to pass before Samuel. And Samuel said unto Jesse, The LORD hath not chosen these.

உன் பிள்ளைகள் இவ்வளவுதானா என்று ஈசாயைக் கேட்டான். அதற்கு அவன்: இன்னும் எல்லாருக்கும் இளையவன் ஒருவன் இருக்கிறான்; அவன் ஆடுகளை மேய்த்துக்கொண்டிருக்கிறான் என்றான்; அப்பொழுது சாமுவேல் ஈசாயை நோக்கி: ஆள் அனுப்பி அவனை அழைப்பி; அவன் இங்கே வருமட்டும் நான் பந்தியிருக்கமாட்டேன் என்றான்.

And Samuel said unto Jesse, Are here all thy children? And he said, There remaineth yet the youngest, and, behold, he keepeth the sheep. And Samuel said unto Jesse, Send and fetch him: for we will not sit down till he come hither.

ஆள் அனுப்பி அவனை அழைப்பித்தான்; அவன் சிவந்த மேனியும், அழகிய கண்களும், நல்ல ரூபமுள்ளவனாயிருந்தான்; அப்பொழுது கர்த்தர் இவன்தான், நீ எழுந்து இவனை அபிஷேகம்பண்ணு என்றார்.

And he sent, and brought him in. Now he was ruddy, and withal of a beautiful countenance, and goodly to look to. And the LORD said, Arise, anoint him: for this is he.

அப்பொழுது சாமுவேல்: தைலக்கொம்பை எடுத்து, அவனை அவன் சகோதரர் நடுவிலே அபிஷேகம்பண்ணினான்; அந்நாள் முதற்கொண்டு, கர்த்தருடைய ஆவியானவர் தாவீதின்மேல் வந்து இறங்கியிருந்தார்; சாமுவேல் எழுந்து ராமாவுக்குப் போய்விட்டான்.

Then Samuel took the horn of oil, and anointed him in the midst of his brethren: and the Spirit of the LORD came upon David from that day forward. So Samuel rose up, and went to Ramah.

கர்த்தருடைய ஆவி சவுலை விட்டு நீங்கினார்; கர்த்தரால் வரவிடப்பட்ட ஒரு பொல்லாத ஆவி அவனைக் கலங்கப்பண்ணிக்கொண்டிருந்தது.

But the Spirit of the LORD departed from Saul, and an evil spirit from the LORD troubled him.

அப்பொழுது சவுலின் ஊழியக்காரர் அவனை நோக்கி: இதோ, தேவனால் விடப்பட்ட ஒரு பொல்லாத ஆவி உம்மைக் கலங்கப்பண்ணுகிறதே.

And Saul's servants said unto him, Behold now, an evil spirit from God troubleth thee.

சுரமண்டலம் வாசிக்கிறதில் தேறின ஒருவனைத் தேடும்படிக்கு, எங்கள் ஆண்டவனாகிய நீர் உமக்கு முன்பாக நிற்கிற உம்முடைய அடியாருக்குக் கட்டளையிடும்; அப்பொழுது தேவனால் விடப்பட்ட பொல்லாத ஆவி உம்மேல் இறங்குகையில், அவன் தன் கையினால் அதை வாசித்தால் உமக்குச் சவுக்கியமுண்டாகும் என்றார்கள்.

Let our lord now command thy servants, which are before thee, to seek out a man, who is a cunning player on an harp: and it shall come to pass, when the evil spirit from God is upon thee, that he shall play with his hand, and thou shalt be well.

சவுல் தன் ஊழியக்காரரைப் பார்த்து: நன்றாய் வாசிக்கத்தக்க ஒருவனைத் தேடி, என்னிடத்தில் கொண்டுவாருங்கள் என்றான்.

And Saul said unto his servants, Provide me now a man that can play well, and bring him to me.

அப்பொழுது அந்த வேலைக்காரரில் ஒருவன் பிரதியுத்தரமாக: இதோ, பெத்லெகேமியனாகிய ஈசாயின் குமாரன் ஒருவனைக் கண்டிருக்கிறேன்; அவன் வாசிப்பதில் தேறினவன், அவன் பராக்கிரமசாலி, யுத்தவீரன், காரியசமர்த்தன், சவுந்தரியமுள்ளவன்; கர்த்தர் அவனோடேகூட இருக்கிறார் என்றான்.

Then answered one of the servants, and said, Behold, I have seen a son of Jesse the Bethlehemite, that is cunning in playing, and a mighty valiant man, and a man of war, and prudent in matters, and a comely person, and the LORD is with him.

அப்பொழுது சவுல்: ஈசாயினிடத்தில் ஆட்களை அனுப்பி, ஆட்டு மந்தையில் இருக்கிற உன் குமாரனாகிய தாவீதை என்னிடத்தில் அனுப்பு என்று சொல்லச் சொன்னான்.

Wherefore Saul sent messengers unto Jesse, and said, Send me David thy son, which is with the sheep.

அப்பொழுது ஈசாய்: அப்பத்தையும், ஒரு துருத்தி திராட்சரசத்தையும், ஒரு வெள்ளாட்டுக்குட்டியையும் கழுதையின் மேல் ஏற்றி, தன் குமாரனாகிய தாவீதின் வசமாய் சவுலுக்கு அனுப்பினான்.

And Jesse took an ass laden with bread, and a bottle of wine, and a kid, and sent them by David his son unto Saul.

அப்படியே தாவீது சவுலிடத்தில் வந்து, அவனுக்கு முன்பாக நின்றான்; அவன் இவனை மிகவும் சிநேகித்தான்; அவனுக்கு இவன் ஆயுததாரியானான்.

And David came to Saul, and stood before him: and he loved him greatly; and he became his armourbearer.

சவுல் ஈசாயினிடத்தில் ஆள் அனுப்பி, தாவீது எனக்கு முன்பாக நிற்கட்டும்; என் கண்களில் அவனுக்குத் தயவு கிடைத்தது என்று சொல்லச் சொன்னான்.

And Saul sent to Jesse, saying, Let David, I pray thee, stand before me; for he hath found favour in my sight.

அப்படியே தேவனால் விடப்பட்ட ஆவி சவுலைப் பிடிக்கும்போது, தாவீது சுரமண்டலத்தை எடுத்து, தன் கையினால் வாசிப்பான்; அதினாலே பொல்லாத ஆவி அவனை விட்டு நீங்க, சவுல் ஆறுதலடைந்து, சொஸ்தமாவான்.

And it came to pass, when the evil spirit from God was upon Saul, that David took an harp, and played with his hand: so Saul was refreshed, and was well, and the evil spirit departed from him.

ரோமர் அத்தியாயம் 6

ஆகையால் என்னசொல்லுவோம்? கிருபை பெருகும்படிக்குப் பாவத்திலே நிலைநிற்கலாம் என்று சொல்லுவோமா? கூடாதே.

What shall we say then? Shall we continue in sin, that grace may abound?

பாவத்துக்கு மரித்த நாம் இனி அதிலே எப்படிப் பிழைப்போம்?

God forbid. How shall we, that are dead to sin, live any longer therein?

கிறிஸ்து இயேசுவுக்குள்ளாக ஞானஸ்நானம் பெற்ற நாமனைவரும் அவருடைய மரணத்துக்குள்ளாக ஞானஸ்நானம் பெற்றதை அறியாமலிருக்கிறீர்களா?

Know ye not, that so many of us as were baptized into Jesus Christ were baptized into his death?

மேலும் பிதாவின் மகிமையினாலே கிறிஸ்து மரித்தோரிலிருந்து எழுப்பப்பட்டதுபோல, நாமும் புதிதான ஜீவனுள்ளவர்களாய் நடந்துகொள்ளும்படிக்கு, அவருடைய மரணத்திற்குள்ளாக்கும் ஞானஸ்நானத்தினாலே கிறிஸ்துவுடனேகூட அடக்கம்பண்ணப்பட்டோம்.

Therefore we are buried with him by baptism into death: that like as Christ was raised up from the dead by the glory of the Father, even so we also should walk in newness of life.

ஆதலால் அவருடைய மரணத்தின் சாயலில் நாம் இணைக்கப்பட்டவர்களானால், அவர் உயிர்த்தெழுதலின் சாயலிலும் இணைக்கப்பட்டிருப்போம்.

For if we have been planted together in the likeness of his death, we shall be also in the likeness of his resurrection:

நாம் இனிப் பாவத்துக்கு ஊழியஞ்செய்யாதபடிக்கு, பாவசரீரம் ஒழிந்துபோகும்பொருட்டாக, நம்முடைய பழைய மனுஷன் அவரோடேகூடச் சிலுவையில் அறையப்பட்டதென்று அறிந்திருக்கிறோம்.

Knowing this, that our old man is crucified with him, that the body of sin might be destroyed, that henceforth we should not serve sin.

மரித்தவன் பாவத்துக்கு நீங்கி விடுதலையாக்கப்பட்டிருக்கிறானே.

For he that is dead is freed from sin.

ஆகையால் கிறிஸ்துவுடனேகூட நாம் மரித்தோமானால், அவருடனே கூடப்பிழைத்தும் இருப்போம் என்று நம்புகிறோம்.

Now if we be dead with Christ, we believe that we shall also live with him:

மரித்தோரிலிருந்து எழுந்த கிறிஸ்து இனி மரிப்பதில்லையென்று அறிந்திருக்கிறோம்; மரணம் இனி அவரை ஆண்டு கொள்ளுவதில்லை.

Knowing that Christ being raised from the dead dieth no more; death hath no more dominion over him.

அவர் மரித்தது, பாவத்திற்கென்று ஒரேதரம் மரித்தார்; அவர் பிழைத்திருக்கிறது, தேவனுக்கென்று பிழைத்திருக்கிறார்.

For in that he died, he died unto sin once: but in that he liveth, he liveth unto God.

அப்படியே நீங்களும், உங்களைப் பாவத்திற்கு மரித்தவர்களாகவும், நம்முடைய கர்த்தராகிய இயேசுகிறிஸ்துவுக்குள் தேவனுக்கென்று பிழைத்திருக்கிறவர்களாகவும் எண்ணிக்கொள்ளுங்கள்.

Likewise reckon ye also yourselves to be dead indeed unto sin, but alive unto God through Jesus Christ our Lord.

ஆகையால், நீங்கள் சரீர இச்சைகளின்படி பாவத்திற்குக் கீழ்ப்படியத்தக்கதாக, சாவுக்கேதுவான உங்கள் சரீரத்தில் பாவம் ஆளாதிருப்பதாக.

Let not sin therefore reign in your mortal body, that ye should obey it in the lusts thereof.

நீங்கள் உங்கள் அவயவங்களை அநீதியின் ஆயுதங்களாகப் பாவத்திற்கு ஒப்புக்கொடாமல், உங்களை மரித்தோரிலிருந்து பிழைத்திருக்கிறவர்களாக தேவனுக்கு ஒப்புக்கொடுத்து, உங்கள் அவயவங்களை நீதிக்குரிய ஆயுதங்களாக தேவனுக்கு ஒப்புக்கொடுங்கள்.

Neither yield ye your members as instruments of unrighteousness unto sin: but yield yourselves unto God, as those that are alive from the dead, and your members as instruments of righteousness unto God.

நீங்கள் நியாயப்பிரமாணத்திற்குக் கீழ்ப்பட்டிராமல் கிருபைக்குக் கீழ்பட்டிருக்கிறபடியால், பாவம் உங்களை மேற்கொள்ளமாட்டாது.

For sin shall not have dominion over you: for ye are not under the law, but under grace.

இதினால் என்ன? நாம் நியாயப்பிரமாணத்திற்குக் கீழ்ப்பட்டிராமல் கிருபைக்குக் கீழ்ப்பட்டிருக்கிறபடியால், பாவஞ்செய்யலாமா? கூடாதே.

What then? shall we sin, because we are not under the law, but under grace? God forbid.

மரணத்துக்கேதுவான பாவத்துக்கானாலும், நீதிக்கேதுவான கீழ்ப்படிதலுக்கானாலும், எதற்குக் கீழ்ப்படியும்படி உங்களை அடிமைகளாக ஒப்புக்கொடுக்கிறீர்களோ, அதற்கே கீழ்ப்படிகிற அடிமைகளாயிருக்கிறீர்களென்று அறியீர்களா?

Know ye not, that to whom ye yield yourselves servants to obey, his servants ye are to whom ye obey; whether of sin unto death, or of obedience unto righteousness?

முன்னே நீங்கள் பாவத்திற்கு அடிமைகளாயிருந்தும், இப்பொழுது உங்களுக்கு ஒப்புவிக்கப்பட்ட உபதேச சட்டத்திற்கு நீங்கள் மனப்பூர்வமாய்க் கீழ்ப்படிந்ததினாலே தேவனுக்கு ஸ்தோத்திரம்.

But God be thanked, that ye were the servants of sin, but ye have obeyed from the heart that form of doctrine which was delivered you.

பாவத்தினின்று நீங்கள் விடுதலையாக்கப்பட்டு, நீதிக்கு அடிமைகளானீர்கள்.

Being then made free from sin, ye became the servants of righteousness.

உங்கள் மாம்ச பலவீனத்தினிமித்தம் மனுஷர் பேசுகிறபிரகாரமாய்ப் பேசுகிறேன். அக்கிரமத்தை நடப்பிக்கும்படி முன்னே நீங்கள் உங்கள் அவயவங்களை அசுத்தத்திற்கும் அக்கிரமத்திற்கும் அடிமைகளாக ஒப்புக்கொடுத்ததுபோல, இப்பொழுது பரிசுத்தமானதை நடப்பிக்கும்படி உங்கள் அவயவங்களை நீதிக்கு அடிமையாக ஒப்புக்கொடுங்கள்.

I speak after the manner of men because of the infirmity of your flesh: for as ye have yielded your members servants to uncleanness and to iniquity unto iniquity; even so now yield your members servants to righteousness unto holiness.

பாவத்திற்கு நீங்கள் அடிமைகளாயிருந்த காலத்தில் நீதிக்கு நீங்கினவர்களாயிருந்தீர்கள்.

For when ye were the servants of sin, ye were free from righteousness.

இப்பொழுது உங்களுக்கு வெட்கமாகத் தோன்றுகிற காரியங்களினாலே அக்காலத்தில் உங்களுக்கு என்ன பலன் கிடைத்தது? அவைகளின் முடிவு மரணமே.

What fruit had ye then in those things whereof ye are now ashamed? for the end of those things is death.

இப்பொழுது நீங்கள் பாவத்தினின்று விடுதலையாக்கப்பட்டு, தேவனுக்கு அடிமைகளானதினால், பரிசுத்தமாகுதல் உங்களுக்குக் கிடைக்கும் பலன், முடிவோ நித்தியஜீவன்.

But now being made free from sin, and become servants to God, ye have your fruit unto holiness, and the end everlasting life.

பாவத்தின் சம்பளம் மரணம்; தேவனுடைய கிருபைவரமோ நம்முடைய கர்த்தராகிய இயேசுகிறிஸ்துவினால் உண்டான நித்தியஜீவன்.

For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.

ரோமர் அத்தியாயம் 7

நியாயப்பிரமாணத்தை அறிந்திருக்கிறவர்களுடனே பேசுகிறேன். சகோதரரே, ஒரு மனுஷன் உயிரோடிருக்குமளவும் நியாயப்பிரமாணம் அவனை ஆளுகிறதென்று அறியாமலிருக்கிறீர்களா?

Know ye not, brethren, (for I speak to them that know the law,) how that the law hath dominion over a man as long as he liveth?

அதெப்படியென்றால், புருஷனையுடைய ஸ்திரீ தன் புருஷன் உயிரோடிருக்குமளவும் நியாயப்பிரமாணத்தின்படியே அவனுடைய நிபந்தனைக்கு உட்பட்டிருக்கிறாள்; புருஷன் மரித்த பின்பு புருஷனைப்பற்றிய பிரமாணத்தினின்று விடுதலையாயிருக்கிறாள்.

For the woman which hath an husband is bound by the law to her husband so long as he liveth; but if the husband be dead, she is loosed from the law of her husband.

ஆகையால், புருஷன் உயிரோடிருக்கையில் அவள் வேறொரு புருஷனை விவாகம்பண்ணினால் விபசாரியென்னப்படுவாள்; புருஷன் மரித்தபின்பு அவள் அந்தப் பிரமாணத்தினின்று விடுதலையானபடியால், வேறொரு புருஷனை விவாகம்பண்ணினாலும் விபசாரியல்ல.

So then if, while her husband liveth, she be married to another man, she shall be called an adulteress: but if her husband be dead, she is free from that law; so that she is no adulteress, though she be married to another man.

அப்படிப்போல, என் சகோதரரே, நீங்கள் மரித்தோரிலிருந்து எழுந்த கிறிஸ்து என்னும் வேறொருவருடையவர்களாகி, தேவனுக்கென்று கனிகொடுக்கும்படி கிறிஸ்துவின் சரீரத்தினாலே நியாயப்பிரமாணத்துக்கு மரித்தவர்களானீர்கள்.

Wherefore, my brethren, ye also are become dead to the law by the body of Christ; that ye should be married to another, even to him who is raised from the dead, that we should bring forth fruit unto God.

நாம் மாம்சத்திற்கு உட்பட்டிருந்த காலத்தில் நியாயப்பிரமாணத்தினாலே தோன்றிய பாவ இச்சைகள் மரணத்திற்கு ஏதுவான கனிகளைக் கொடுக்கத்தக்கதாக நம்முடைய அவயவங்களிலே பெலன்செய்தது.

For when we were in the flesh, the motions of sins, which were by the law, did work in our members to bring forth fruit unto death.

இப்பொழுதோ நாம் பழமையான எழுத்தின்படியல்ல, புதுமையான ஆவியின்படி ஊழியஞ்செய்யத்தக்கதாக, நம்மைக் கட்டியிருந்த நியாயப்பிரமாணத்துக்கு நாம் மரித்தவர்களாகி, அதினின்று விடுதலையாக்கப்பட்டிருக்கிறோம்.

But now we are delivered from the law, that being dead wherein we were held; that we should serve in newness of spirit, and not in the oldness of the letter.

ஆகையால் என்ன சொல்லுவோம்? நியாயப்பிரமாணம் பாவமோ? அல்லவே, பாவம் இன்னதென்று நியாயப்பிரமாணத்தினால் நான் அறிந்தேனேயன்றி மற்றப்படி அறியவில்லை; இச்சியாதிருப்பாயாக என்று நியாயப்பிரமாணம் சொல்லாதிருந்தால், இச்சை பாவம் என்று நான் அறியாமலிருப்பேனே.

What shall we say then? Is the law sin? God forbid. Nay, I had not known sin, but by the law: for I had not known lust, except the law had said, Thou shalt not covet.

பாவமானது கற்பனையினாலே சமயம்பெற்றுச் சகலவித இச்சைகளையும் என்னில் நடப்பித்தது. நியாயப்பிரமாணம் இல்லாவிட்டால் பாவம் செத்ததாயிருக்குமே.

But sin, taking occasion by the commandment, wrought in me all manner of concupiscence. For without the law sin was dead.

முன்னே நியாயப்பிரமாணமில்லாதவனாயிருந்தபோது நான் ஜீவனுள்ளவனாயிருந்தேன்; கற்பனை வந்தபோது பாவம் உயிர்கொண்டது, நான் மரித்தவனானேன்.

For I was alive without the law once: but when the commandment came, sin revived, and I died.

இப்படியிருக்க, ஜீவனுக்கேதுவான கற்பனையே எனக்கு மரணத்துக்கேதுவாயிருக்கக்கண்டேன்.

And the commandment, which was ordained to life, I found to be unto death.

பாவமானது கற்பனையினாலே சமயம்பெற்று, என்னை வஞ்சித்து, அதினாலே என்னைக் கொன்றது.

For sin, taking occasion by the commandment, deceived me, and by it slew me.

ஆகையால் நியாயப்பிரமாணம் பரிசுத்தமுள்ளதுதான், கற்பனையும் பரிசுத்தமாயும் நீதியாயும் நன்மையாயும் இருக்கிறது.

Wherefore the law is holy, and the commandment holy, and just, and good.

இப்படியிருக்க, நன்மையானது எனக்கு மரணமாயிற்றோ? அப்படியல்ல; பாவமே எனக்கு மரணமாயிற்று; பாவம் கற்பனையினாலே மிகுந்த பாவமுள்ளதாகும்படிக்கும், அது நன்மையானதைக்கொண்டு எனக்கு மரணத்தை உண்டாக்கினதினாலே, பாவமாகவே விளங்கும்படிக்கும் அப்படியாயிற்று.

Was then that which is good made death unto me? God forbid. But sin, that it might appear sin, working death in me by that which is good; that sin by the commandment might become exceeding sinful.

மேலும், நமக்குத் தெரிந்திருக்கிறபடி, நியாயப்பிரமாணம் ஆவிக்குரியதாயிருக்கிறது, நானோ பாவத்துக்குக் கீழாக விற்கப்பட்டு, மாம்சத்துக்குரியவனாயிருக்கிறேன்.

For we know that the law is spiritual: but I am carnal, sold under sin.

எப்படியெனில், நான் செய்கிறது எனக்கே சம்மதியில்லை; நான் விரும்புகிறதைச் செய்யாமல், நான் வெறுக்கிறதையே செய்கிறேன்.

For that which I do I allow not: for what I would, that do I not; but what I hate, that do I.

இப்படி நான் விரும்பாததைச் செய்கிறவனாயிருக்க, நியாயப்பிரமாணம் நல்லதென்று ஒத்துக்கொள்ளுகிறேனே.

If then I do that which I would not, I consent unto the law that it is good.

ஆதலால் நான் அல்ல, எனக்குள் வாசமாயிருக்கிற பாவமே அப்படிச் செய்கிறது.

Now then it is no more I that do it, but sin that dwelleth in me.

அதெப்படியெனில், என்னிடத்தில், அதாவது, என் மாம்சத்தில், நன்மை வாசமாயிருக்கிறதில்லையென்று நான் அறிந்திருக்கிறேன்; நன்மை செய்யவேண்டுமென்கிற விருப்பம் என்னிடத்திலிருக்கிறது நன்மை செய்வதோ என்னிடத்திலில்லை.

For I know that in me (that is, in my flesh,) dwelleth no good thing: for to will is present with me; but how to perform that which is good I find not.

ஆதலால் நான் விரும்புகிற நன்மையைச் செய்யாமல், விரும்பாத தீமையையே செய்கிறேன்.

For the good that I would I do not: but the evil which I would not, that I do.

அந்தப்படி நான் விரும்பாததை நான் செய்தால், நான் அல்ல, எனக்குள்ளே வாசமாயிருக்கிற பாவமே அப்படிச் செய்கிறது.

Now if I do that I would not, it is no more I that do it, but sin that dwelleth in me.

ஆனபடியால் நன்மைசெய்ய விரும்புகிற என்னிடத்தில் தீமையுண்டென்கிற ஒரு பிரமாணத்தைக் காண்கிறேன்.

I find then a law, that, when I would do good, evil is present with me.

உள்ளான மனுஷனுக்கேற்றபடி தேவனுடைய நியாயப்பிரமாணத்தின்மேல் பிரியமாயிருக்கிறேன்.

For I delight in the law of God after the inward man:

ஆகிலும் என் மனதின் பிரமாணத்துக்கு விரோதமாய்ப் போராடுகிற வேறொரு பிரமாணத்தை என் அவயவங்களில் இருக்கக் காண்கிறேன்; அது என் அவயவங்களில் உண்டாயிருக்கிற பாவப்பிரமாணத்துக்கு என்னைச் சிறையாக்கிக் கொள்ளுகிறது.

But I see another law in my members, warring against the law of my mind, and bringing me into captivity to the law of sin which is in my members.

நிர்ப்பந்தமான மனுஷன் நான்! இந்த மரணசரீரத்தினின்று யார் என்னை விடுதலையாக்குவார்?

O wretched man that I am! who shall deliver me from the body of this death?

நம்முடைய கர்த்தராகிய இயேசுகிறிஸ்து மூலமாய் தேவனை ஸ்தோத்திரிக்கிறேன். ஆதலால் நானே என் மனதினாலே தேவனுடைய நியாயப்பிரமாணத்துக்கும், மாம்சத்தினாலேயோ பாவப்பிரமாணத்துக்கும் ஊழியஞ்செய்கிறேன்.

I thank God through Jesus Christ our Lord. So then with the mind I myself serve the law of God; but with the flesh the law of sin.
