பின்பு அவள் மாமியாகிய நகோமி அவளை நோக்கி: என் மகளே, நீ சுகமாய் வாழ்ந்திருக்கும்படி நான் உனக்குச் சவுக்கியத்தைத் தேடாதிருப்பேனோ?

Then Naomi her mother in law said unto her, My daughter, shall I not seek rest for thee, that it may be well with thee?

நீ போவாசின் வேலைக்காரிகளோடே கூடியிருந்தாயே, அவன் நம்முடைய உறவின் முறையான் அல்லவா? இதோ, அவன் இன்று இராத்திரி களத்திலே வாற்கோதுமை தூற்றுவான்.

And now is not Boaz of our kindred, with whose maidens thou wast? Behold, he winnoweth barley to night in the threshingfloor.

Wash thyself therefore, and anoint thee, and put thy raiment upon thee, and get thee down to the floor: but make not thyself known unto the man, until he shall have done eating and drinking.

அவன் படுத்துக்கொண்டபோது, அவன் படுத்திருக்கும் இடத்தை நீ பார்த்திருந்து போய், அவன் கால்களின்மேல் மூடியிருக்கிற போர்வையை ஒதுக்கி நீ படுத்துக்கொள்; அப்பொழுது நீ செய்யவேண்டியது இன்னதென்று அவன் உனக்குச் சொல்லுவான் என்றாள்.

And it shall be, when he lieth down, that thou shalt mark the place where he shall lie, and thou shalt go in, and uncover his feet, and lay thee down; and he will tell thee what thou shalt do.

இதற்கு அவள்: நீர் எனக்குச் சொன்னபடியெல்லாம் செய்வேன் என்றாள்.

And she said unto her, All that thou sayest unto me I will do.

அவள் களத்திற்குப்போய், தன் மாமி தனக்குக் கற்பித்தபடியெல்லாம் செய்தாள்.

And she went down unto the floor, and did according to all that her mother in law bade her.

போவாஸ் புசித்துக் குடித்து, மகிழ்ச்சியாயிருந்து, ஒரு அம்பாரத்து அடியிலே வந்து படுத்துக்கொண்டான். அப்பொழுது அவள்: மெள்ளப்போய், அவன் கால்களின்மேல் மூடியிருக்கிற போர்வையை ஒதுக்கிப் படுத்துக்கொண்டாள்.

And when Boaz had eaten and drunk, and his heart was merry, he went to lie down at the end of the heap of corn: and she came softly, and uncovered his feet, and laid her down.

பாதி ராத்திரியிலே, அந்த மனுஷன் அருண்டு. திரும்பி, ஒரு ஸ்திரீ தன் பாதத்தண்டையிலே படுத்திருக்கிறதைக் கண்டு,

And it came to pass at midnight, that the man was afraid, and turned himself: and, behold, a woman lay at his feet.

நீ யார் என்று கேட்டான்; அவள், நான் உம்முடைய அடியாளாகிய ரூத்; நீர் உம்முடைய அடியாள்மேல் உம்முடைய போர்வையை விரியும்; நீர் சுதந்தரவாளி என்றாள்.

And he said, Who art thou? And she answered, I am Ruth thine handmaid: spread therefore thy skirt over thine handmaid; for thou art a near kinsman.

அதற்கு அவன்: மகளே, நீ கர்த்தரால் ஆசீர்வதிக்கப்படுவாயாக; நீ தரித்திரரும் ஐசுவரியவான்களுமான வாலிபர்களின் பிறகே போகாததினால், உன் முந்தின நற்குணத்தைப்பார்க்கிலும் உன் பிந்தின நற்குணம் உத்தமமாயிருக்கிறது.

And he said, Blessed be thou of the LORD, my daughter: for thou hast shewed more kindness in the latter end than at the beginning, inasmuch as thou followedst not young men, whether poor or rich.

இப்போதும் மகளே, நீ பயப்படாதே; உனக்கு வேண்டியபடியெல்லாம் செய்வேன்; நீ குணசாலி என்பதை என் ஜனமாகிய ஊராரெல்லாரும் அறிவார்கள்.

And now, my daughter, fear not; I will do to thee all that thou requirest: for all the city of my people doth know that thou art a virtuous woman.

நான் சுதந்தரவாளி என்பது மெய்தான்; ஆனாலும் என்னிலும் கிட்டின சுதந்தரவாளி ஒருவன் இருக்கிறான்.

And now it is true that I am thy near kinsman: howbeit there is a kinsman nearer than I.

இராத்திரிக்குத் தங்கியிரு; நாளைக்கு அவன் உன்னைச் சுதந்தரமுறையாய் விவாகம்பண்ணச் சம்மதித்தால் நல்லது, அவன் விவாகம்பண்ணட்டும்; அவன் உன்னை விவாகம்பண்ண மனதில்லாதிருந்தானேயாகில் நான் உன்னைச் சுதந்தரமுறையாய் விவாகம்பண்ணுவேன் என்று கர்த்தருடைய ஜீவனைக்கொண்டு ஆணையிடுகிறேன்; விடியற்காலமட்டும் படுத்துக்கொண்டிரு என்றான்.

Tarry this night, and it shall be in the morning, that if he will perform unto thee the part of a kinsman, well; let him do the kinsman's part: but if he will not do the part of a kinsman to thee, then will I do the part of a kinsman to thee, as the LORD liveth: lie down until the morning.

அவள் விடியற்காலமட்டும் அவன் பாதத்தண்டையில் படுத்திருந்து, களத்திலே ஒரு ஸ்திரீ வந்ததாக ஒருவருக்கும் தெரிவிக்கவேண்டாம் என்று அவன் சொல்லியிருந்தபடியால், ஒருவர் முகம் ஒருவருக்குத் தெரியாததற்கு முன்னே எழுந்திருந்தாள்.

And she lay at his feet until the morning: and she rose up before one could know another. And he said, Let it not be known that a woman came into the floor.

அவன் அவளை நோக்கி: நீ போர்த்துக்கொண்டிருக்கிற போர்வையை விரித்துப்பிடி என்றான்; அவள் அதைப்பிடித்தபோது, அவன் அதிலே ஆறுபடி வாற்கோதுமையை அளந்துபோட்டு, அவள்மேல் தூக்கிவிட்டு, பட்டணத்திற்குப் புறப்பட்டுவந்தான்.

Also he said, Bring the vail that thou hast upon thee, and hold it. And when she held it, he measured six measures of barley, and laid it on her: and she went into the city.

அவள் தன் மாமியினிடத்தில் வந்தபோது, அவள்: என் மகளே, உன் செய்தி என்ன என்று கேட்டாள்; அப்பொழுது அவள்: அந்த மனுஷன் தனக்குச் செய்ததையெல்லாம் அவளுக்கு விவரித்தாள்.

And when she came to her mother in law, she said, Who art thou, my daughter? And she told her all that the man had done to her.

மேலும் அவர், நீ உன் மாமியாரண்டைக்கு வெறுமையாய்ப் போகவேண்டாம் என்று சொல்லி, இந்த ஆறுபடி வாற்கோதுமையை எனக்குக் கொடுத்தார் என்றாள்.

And she said, These six measures of barley gave he me; for he said to me, Go not empty unto thy mother in law.

அப்பொழுது அவள்: என் மகளே, இந்தக் காரியம் என்னமாய் முடியும் என்று நீ அறியுமட்டும் பொறுத்திரு; அந்த மனுஷன் இன்றைக்கு இந்தக் காரியத்தை முடிக்குமுன் இளைப்பாற மாட்டான் என்றாள்.

Then said she, Sit still, my daughter, until thou know how the matter will fall: for the man will not be in rest, until he have finished the thing this day.

ரூத் அத்தியாயம் 4

போவாஸ் பட்டணவாசலில் போய், உட்கார்ந்து கொண்டிருந்தான்; அப்பொழுது போவாஸ் சொல்லியிருந்த அந்தச் சுதந்தரவாளி அந்த வழியே வந்தான்; அவனை நோக்கி: ஓய், என்று பேர் சொல்லிக் கூப்பிட்டு, இங்கே வந்து சற்று உட்காரும் என்றான்; அவன் வந்து உட்கார்ந்தான்.

Then went Boaz up to the gate, and sat him down there: and, behold, the kinsman of whom Boaz spake came by; unto whom he said, Ho, such a one! turn aside, sit down here. And he turned aside, and sat down.

அப்பொழுது அவன் பட்டணத்து மூப்பரானவர்களில் பத்துப்பேரை அழைத்து, இங்கே உட்காருங்கள் என்றான்; அவர்களும் உட்கார்ந்தார்கள்.

And he took ten men of the elders of the city, and said, Sit ye down here. And they sat down.

அப்பொழுது அவன் அந்தச் சுதந்தரவாளியை நோக்கி: எலிமெலேக் என்னும் நம்முடைய சகோதரனுக்கு இருந்த வயல்நிலத்தின் பங்கை, மோவாப் தேசத்திலிருந்து திரும்பி வந்த நகோமி விற்கப்போகிறாள்.

And he said unto the kinsman, Naomi, that is come again out of the country of Moab, selleth a parcel of land, which was our brother Elimelech's:

ஆகையால் நீர் அதை ஊராருக்கு முன்பாகவும், என் ஜனத்தின் மூப்பருக்கு முன்பாகவும் வாங்கிக்கொள்ளும்படி உமக்கு அறியப்பண்ணவேண்டும் என்றிருந்தேன்; நீர் அதைச் சுதந்தரமுறையாக மீட்டுக்கொள்ள மனதிருந்தால், மீட்டுக்கொள்ளும்; அதை மீட்டுக்கொள்ள மனத்தில்லாதிருந்தால், நான் அதை அறியும்படிக்கு எனக்குச் சொல்லும்; உம்மையும் உமக்குப்பின்பு என்னையும் தவிர, அதை மீட்கத்தக்கவன் வேறொருவனும் இல்லை என்றான்; அதற்கு அவன்: நான் அதை மீட்டுக்கொள்ளுகிறேன் என்றான்.

And I thought to advertise thee, saying, Buy it before the inhabitants, and before the elders of my people. If thou wilt redeem it, redeem it: but if thou wilt not redeem it, then tell me, that I may know: for there is none to redeem it beside thee; and I am after thee. And he said, I will redeem it.

அப்பொழுது போவாஸ்: நீரே நகோமியின் கையிலே அந்த வயல்நிலத்தை வாங்குகிற நாளிலே மரித்தவனுடைய சுதந்தரத்தில் அவன் பேரை நிலைநிற்கப்பண்ணும்படிக்கு, அதை மரித்தவன் மனைவியாகிய மோவாபிய ஸ்திரீயான ரூத் கையிலும் வாங்கவேண்டியது என்றான்.

Then said Boaz, What day thou buyest the field of the hand of Naomi, thou must buy it also of Ruth the Moabitess, the wife of the dead, to raise up the name of the dead upon his inheritance.

அப்பொழுது அந்தச் சுதந்தரவாளி: நான் என் சுதந்தரத்தைக் கெடுக்காதபடிக்கு, நான் அதை மீட்டுக்கொள்ளமாட்டேன்; நான் மீட்கத்தக்கதை நீர் மீட்டுக்கொள்ளும்; நான் அதை மீட்டுக்கொள்ளமாட்டேன் என்றான்.

And the kinsman said, I cannot redeem it for myself, lest I mar mine own inheritance: redeem thou my right to thyself; for I cannot redeem it.

மீட்கிறதிலும் மாற்றுகிறதிலும் சகல காரியத்தையும் உறுதிப்படுத்தும்படிக்கு, இஸ்ரவேலிலே பூர்வகால வழக்கம் என்னவென்றால், ஒருவன் தன் பாதரட்சையைக் கழற்றி, மற்றவனுக்குக் கொடுப்பான், இது இஸ்ரவேலிலே வழங்கின உறுதிப்பாடு.

Now this was the manner in former time in Israel concerning redeeming and concerning changing, for to confirm all things; a man plucked off his shoe, and gave it to his neighbour: and this was a testimony in Israel.

Therefore the kinsman said unto Boaz, Buy it for thee. So he drew off his shoe.

அப்பொழுது போவாஸ் மூப்பரையும் சகல ஜனங்களையும் நோக்கி: எலிமெலேக்குக்கு இருந்த எல்லாவற்றையும் கிலியோனுக்கும் மக்லோனுக்கும் இருந்த எல்லாவற்றையும் நகோமியின் கையிலே வாங்கிக்கொண்டேன் என்பதற்கு இன்றையதினம் நீங்கள் சாட்சி.

And Boaz said unto the elders, and unto all the people, Ye are witnesses this day, that I have bought all that was Elimelech's, and all that was Chilion's and Mahlon's, of the hand of Naomi.

இதுவுமல்லாமல், மரித்தவனுடைய சகோதரருக்குள்ளும், ஊராருக்குள்ளும், அவனுடைய பேர் அற்றுப்போகாமல், மரித்தவனுடைய சுதந்தரத்திலே அவன் பேரை நிலைநிறுத்த, நான் மக்லோனின் மனைவியாயிருந்த மோவாபிய ஸ்திரீயான ரூத்தை எனக்கு மனைவியாகக் கொண்டேன்; அதற்கும் இன்றையதினம் நீங்கள் சாட்சி என்றான்.

Moreover Ruth the Moabitess, the wife of Mahlon, have I purchased to be my wife, to raise up the name of the dead upon his inheritance, that the name of the dead be not cut off from among his brethren, and from the gate of his place: ye are witnesses this day.

அப்பொழுது ஒலிமுகவாசலில் இருக்கிற சகல ஜனங்களும் மூப்பரானவர்களும் அவனை நோக்கி: நாங்கள் சாட்சிதான்; உன் வீட்டிலே வருகிற மனைவியைக் கர்த்தர் இஸ்ரவேல் வீட்டைக் கட்டுவித்த இரண்டுபேராகிய ராகேலைப்போலவும் லேயாளைப்போலவும் வாழ்ந்திருக்கச் செய்வாராக; நீ எப்பிராத்தாவிலே பாக்கியவானாயிருந்து, பெத்லெகேமிலே புகழ்பெற்றிருக்கக்கடவாய்.

And all the people that were in the gate, and the elders, said, We are witnesses. The LORD make the woman that is come into thine house like Rachel and like Leah, which two did build the house of Israel: and do thou worthily in Ephratah, and be famous in Bethlehem:

இந்தப் பெண்ணிடத்திலே கர்த்தர் உனக்கு அருளிச்செய்யப்போகிற சந்தானத்தினாலே, உன் வீடு தாமார் யூதாவுக்குப் பெற்ற பேரேசின் வீட்டைப்போல ஆகக்கடவது என்றார்கள்.

And let thy house be like the house of Pharez, whom Tamar bare unto Judah, of the seed which the LORD shall give thee of this young woman.

போவாஸ் ரூத்தை விவாகம்பண்ணினான்; அவள் அவனுக்கு மனைவியானாள்; அவன் அவளிடத்தில் பிரவேசித்தபோது, அவள் கர்ப்பந்தரித்து, ஒரு ஆண்பிள்ளையைப் பெறக் கர்த்தர் அநுக்கிரகம்பண்ணினார்.

So Boaz took Ruth, and she was his wife: and when he went in unto her, the LORD gave her conception, and she bare a son.

அப்பொழுது ஸ்திரீகள் நகோமியைப் பார்த்து: சுதந்தரவாளி அற்றுப்போகாதபடிக்கு இன்று உனக்குத் தயைசெய்த கர்த்தருக்கு ஸ்தோத்திரம்; அவன் பேர் இஸ்ரவேலிலே பிரபலமாகக்கடவது.

And the women said unto Naomi, Blessed be the LORD, which hath not left thee this day without a kinsman, that his name may be famous in Israel.

அவன் உன் ஆத்துமாவுக்கு ஆறுதல் செய்கிறவனும், உன் முதிர்வயதிலே உன்னை ஆதரிக்கிறவனுமாயிருக்கக்கடவன்; உன்னைச் சிநேகித்து, ஏழு குமாரரைப்பார்க்கிலும் உனக்கு அருமையாயிருக்கிற உன் மருமகள் அவனைப் பெற்றாளே என்றார்கள்.

And he shall be unto thee a restorer of thy life, and a nourisher of thine old age: for thy daughter in law, which loveth thee, which is better to thee than seven sons, hath born him.

நகோமி அந்தப் பிள்ளையை எடுத்து, தன் மடியிலே வைத்து, அதை வளர்க்கிற தாயானாள்.

And Naomi took the child, and laid it in her bosom, and became nurse unto it.

அயல்வீட்டுக்காரிகள் நகோமிக்கு ஒரு ஆண்பிள்ளை பிறந்தது என்று வாழ்த்தி, அதற்கு ஓபேத் என்று பேரிட்டார்கள்; அவன் தாவீதின் தகப்பனாகிய ஈசாயின் தகப்பன்.

And the women her neighbours gave it a name, saying, There is a son born to Naomi; and they called his name Obed: he is the father of Jesse, the father of David.

பேரேசுடைய சந்ததியின் வரலாறு: பேரேஸ் எஸ்ரோனைப் பெற்றான்.

Now these are the generations of Pharez: Pharez begat Hezron,

எஸ்ரோன் ராமைப் பெற்றான்; ராம் அம்மினதாபைப் பெற்றான்.

And Hezron begat Ram, and Ram begat Amminadab,

அம்மினதாப் நகசோனைப் பெற்றான்; நகசோன் சல்மோனைப் பெற்றான்.

And Amminadab begat Nahshon, and Nahshon begat Salmon,

சல்மோன் போவாசைப் பெற்றான்; போவாஸ் ஓபேதைப் பெற்றான்.

And Salmon begat Boaz, and Boaz begat Obed,

ஓபேத் ஈசாயைப் பெற்றான்; ஈசாய் தாவீதைப் பெற்றான்.

And Obed begat Jesse, and Jesse begat David.

அப்போஸ்தலர் அத்தியாயம் 25

பெஸ்து என்பவன் நாட்டிற்கு அதிபதியாக வந்து, மூன்று நாளானபின்பு, செசரியாவிலிருந்து எருசலேமுக்குப் போனான்.

Now when Festus was come into the province, after three days he ascended from Caesarea to Jerusalem.

அப்பொழுது பிரதான ஆசாரியனும் யூதரில் முதன்மையானவர்களும் அவனிடத்தில் வந்து, பவுலுக்கு விரோதமாகப் பிராதுபண்ணி,

Then the high priest and the chief of the Jews informed him against Paul, and besought him,

அவனை வழியிலே கொன்றுபோடும்படி சர்ப்பனையான யோசனையுள்ளவர்களாய், தங்கள்மேல் தயவுசெய்து, அவனை எருசலேமுக்கு அழைப்பிக்கவேண்டுமென்று வேண்டிக்கொண்டார்கள்.

And desired favour against him, that he would send for him to Jerusalem, laying wait in the way to kill him.

அதற்குப் பெஸ்து பிரதியுத்தரமாக: பவுலைச் செசரியாவிலே காவல்பண்ணியிருக்கிறதே; நானும் சீக்கிரமாக அங்கேபோகிறேன்.

But Festus answered, that Paul should be kept at Caesarea, and that he himself would depart shortly thither.

ஆகையால் உங்களில் திறமுள்ளவர்கள் கூடவந்து, அந்த மனுஷனிடத்தில் குற்றம் ஏதாகிலும் உண்டானால், அந்தக் குற்றத்தை அவன்மேல் சாட்டட்டும் என்றான்.

Let them therefore, said he, which among you are able, go down with me, and accuse this man, if there be any wickedness in him.

அவன் அவர்களிடத்திலே ஏறக்குறைய பத்துநாள் சஞ்சரித்து, பின்பு செசரியாவுக்குப் போய், மறுநாளிலே நியாயாசனத்தில் உட்கார்ந்து, பவுலைக் கொண்டுவரும்படி கட்டளையிட்டான்.

And when he had tarried among them more than ten days, he went down unto Caesarea; and the next day sitting on the judgment seat commanded Paul to be brought.

அவன் வந்தபோது, எருசலேமிலிருந்துவந்த யூதர்கள் அவனைச் சூழ்ந்துநின்று, தங்களால் ரூபிக்கக்கூடாத அநேகங்கொடிய குற்றங்களை அவன்மேல் சாட்டினார்கள்.

And when he was come, the Jews which came down from Jerusalem stood round about, and laid many and grievous complaints against Paul, which they could not prove.

அதற்கு அவன் உத்தரவாக: நான் யூதருடைய வேதப்பிரமாணத்துக்காகிலும், தேவாலயத்துக்காகிலும், இராயருக்காகிலும் விரோதமாக ஒரு குற்றமும் செய்யவில்லையென்று சொன்னான்.

While he answered for himself, Neither against the law of the Jews, neither against the temple, nor yet against Caesar, have I offended any thing at all.

அப்பொழுது பெஸ்து யூதருக்குத் தயவுசெய்ய மனதாய், பவுலை நோக்கி: நீ எருசலேமுக்குப் போய், அவ்விடத்திலே இந்தக் காரியங்களைக்குறித்து எனக்கு முன்பாக நியாயம் விசாரிக்கப்பட உனக்குச் சம்மதியா என்றான்.

But Festus, willing to do the Jews a pleasure, answered Paul, and said, Wilt thou go up to Jerusalem, and there be judged of these things before me?

அதற்குப் பவுல்: நான் இராயருடைய நியாயாசனத்துக்கு முன்பாக நிற்கிறேன்; அதற்கு முன்பாக நான் நியாயம் விசாரிக்கப்படவேண்டியது; யூதருக்கு நான் அநியாயம் ஒன்றும் செய்யவில்லை, அதை நீரும் நன்றாய் அறிந்திருக்கிறீர்.

Then said Paul, I stand at Caesar's judgment seat, where I ought to be judged: to the Jews have I done no wrong, as thou very well knowest.

நான் அநியாயஞ்செய்து, மரணத்துக்குப் பாத்திரமானது ஏதாகிலும் நடப்பித்ததுண்டானால், நான் சாகாதபடிக்கு மனுகேட்கமாட்டேன். இவர்கள் என்மேல் சாட்டுகிற குற்றங்கள் முற்றிலும் அபத்தமானால், அவர்களுக்குத் தயவுபண்ணும்பொருட்டு ஒருவரும் என்னை அவர்களுக்கு ஒப்புக்கொடுக்கலாகாது. இராயருக்கு அபயமிடுகிறேன் என்றான்.

For if I be an offender, or have committed any thing worthy of death, I refuse not to die: but if there be none of these things whereof these accuse me, no man may deliver me unto them. I appeal unto Caesar.

அப்பொழுது பெஸ்து தன் ஆலோசனைக்காரருடனே ஆலோசித்து: நீ இராயருக்கு அபயமிட்டாயே; இராயரிடத்திற்கே போகக்கடவாயென்று உத்தரவு சொன்னான்.

Then Festus, when he had conferred with the council, answered, Hast thou appealed unto Caesar? unto Caesar shalt thou go.

சிலநாள் சென்றபின்பு, அகிரிப்பா ராஜாவும் பெர்னீக்கேயாளும் பெஸ்துவைக் கண்டுகொள்ளும்படி செசரியாவுக்கு வந்தார்கள்.

And after certain days king Agrippa and Bernice came unto Caesarea to salute Festus.

அவர்கள் அங்கே அநேகநாள் சஞ்சரித்திருக்கையில், பெஸ்து பவுலின் சங்கதியை ராஜாவுக்கு விவரித்து: பேலிக்ஸ் காவலில் வைத்துப்போன ஒரு மனுஷன் இருக்கிறான்.

And when they had been there many days, Festus declared Paul's cause unto the king, saying, There is a certain man left in bonds by Felix:

நான் எருசலேமில் இருந்தபோது, பிரதான ஆசாரியர்களும் யூதருடைய மூப்பர்களும் அவனைக்குறித்து என்னிடத்தில் பிராதுபண்ணி, அவனுக்கு விரோதமாகத் தீர்ப்புசெய்யவேண்டுமென்று கேட்டுக்கொண்டார்கள்.

About whom, when I was at Jerusalem, the chief priests and the elders of the Jews informed me, desiring to have judgment against him.

To whom I answered, It is not the manner of the Romans to deliver any man to die, before that he which is accused have the accusers face to face, and have licence to answer for himself concerning the crime laid against him.

ஆகையால் அவர்கள் இங்கே கூடிவந்தபோது, நான் எவ்வளவும் தாமதம்பண்ணாமல், மறுநாள் நியாயாசனத்தில் உட்கார்ந்து, அந்த மனுஷனைக் கொண்டுவரும்படி கட்டளையிட்டேன்.

Therefore, when they were come hither, without any delay on the morrow I sat on the judgment seat, and commanded the man to be brought forth.

அப்பொழுது குற்றஞ்சாட்டினவர்கள் வந்துநின்று, நான் நினைத்திருந்த குற்றங்களில் ஒன்றையும் அவன்மேல் சுமத்தாமல்,

Against whom when the accusers stood up, they brought none accusation of such things as I supposed:

தங்களுடைய மார்க்கத்தைக்குறித்தும், மரித்துப்போன இயேசு என்னும் ஒருவன் உயிரோடிருக்கிறானென்று பவுல் சாதித்ததைக்குறித்தும் சில தர்க்கவிஷயங்களை அவன்பேரில் விரோதமாய்ச் சொன்னார்கள்.

But had certain questions against him of their own superstition, and of one Jesus, which was dead, whom Paul affirmed to be alive.

இப்படிப்பட்ட தர்க்க விஷயங்களைக்குறித்து எனக்குச் சந்தேகமிருந்தபடியினால்: நீ எருசலேமுக்குப்போய், அங்கே இவைகளைக் குறித்து நியாயம் விசாரிக்கப்பட உனக்குச் சம்மதியா என்று கேட்டேன்.

And because I doubted of such manner of questions, I asked him whether he would go to Jerusalem, and there be judged of these matters.

அதற்குப் பவுல், தான் இராயருக்கு முன்பாக நியாயம் விசாரிக்கப்படும்படிக்கு நிறுத்திவைக்கப்படவேண்டுமென்று அபயமிட்டபோது, நான் அவனை இராயனிடத்திற்கு அனுப்புமளவும் காவல்பண்ணும்படி கட்டளையிட்டேன் என்றான்.

But when Paul had appealed to be reserved unto the hearing of Augustus, I commanded him to be kept till I might send him to Caesar.

அப்பொழுது அகிரிப்பா பெஸ்துவை நோக்கி: அந்த மனுஷன் சொல்லுகிறதை நானும் கேட்க மனதாயிருக்கிறேன் என்றான். அதற்கு அவன்: நாளைக்கு நீர் கேட்கலாம் என்றான்.

Then Agrippa said unto Festus, I would also hear the man myself. To morrow, said he, thou shalt hear him.

மறுநாளிலே அகிரிப்பாவும் பெர்னீக்கேயாளும் மிகுந்த ஆடம்பரத்துடனே வந்து சேனாதிபதிகளோடும் பட்டணத்துப் பிரதான மனுஷரோடுங்கூட நியாயஸ்தலத்தில் பிரவேசித்தார்கள். உடனே பெஸ்துவினுடைய கட்டளையின்படி பவுல் கொண்டுவரப்பட்டான்.

And on the morrow, when Agrippa was come, and Bernice, with great pomp, and was entered into the place of hearing, with the chief captains, and principal men of the city, at Festus' commandment Paul was brought forth.

அப்பொழுது பெஸ்து: அகிரிப்பா ராஜாவே, எங்களோடேகூட இவ்விடத்தில் வந்திருக்கிறவர்களே, நீங்கள் காண்கிற இந்த மனுஷனைக்குறித்து யூதஜனங்களெல்லாரும் எருசலேமிலும் இவ்விடத்திலும் என்னை வருந்திக் கேட்டுக்கொண்டு, இவன் இனி உயிரோடிருக்கிறது தகாதென்று சொல்லிக் கூக்குரலிட்டார்கள்.

And Festus said, King Agrippa, and all men which are here present with us, ye see this man, about whom all the multitude of the Jews have dealt with me, both at Jerusalem, and also here, crying that he ought not to live any longer.

இவன் மரணத்துக்குப் பாத்திரமானதொன்றையும் செய்யவில்லையென்று நான் அறிந்துகொண்டதினாலும், இவன்தானே இராயனுக்கு அபயமிட்டபடியினாலும், அவரிடத்தில் இவனை அனுப்பும்படி தீர்மானம்பண்ணினேன்.

But when I found that he had committed nothing worthy of death, and that he himself hath appealed to Augustus, I have determined to send him.

இவனைக்குறித்து ஆண்டவனுக்கு எழுதுகிறதற்கு நிச்சயப்பட்ட காரியமொன்றும் எனக்கு விளங்கவில்லை. காவல்பண்ணப்பட்ட ஒருவன் செய்த குற்றங்களை எடுத்துக்காட்டாமல் அனுப்புகிறது புத்தியீனமான காரியமென்று எனக்குத் தோன்றுகிறபடியினாலே,

Of whom I have no certain thing to write unto my lord. Wherefore I have brought him forth before you, and specially before thee, O king Agrippa, that, after examination had, I might have somewhat to write.

இவனை விசாரித்துக் கேட்டபின்பு எழுதத்தக்க விசேஷம் ஏதாகிலும் எனக்கு விளங்கும்படி, இவனை உங்களுக்கு முன்பாகவும், விசேஷமாய் அகிரிப்பா ராஜாவே, உமக்கு முன்பாகவும் கொண்டுவந்தேன் என்றான்.

For it seemeth to me unreasonable to send a prisoner, and not withal to signify the crimes laid against him.
