சிலநாள் சென்றபின்பு, சிம்சோன் கோதுமை அறுக்கிற நாட்களில் ஒரு வெள்ளாட்டுக்குட்டியை எடுத்துக்கொண்டு, தன் பெண்சாதியைக் காணப்போய்: நான் என் பெண்சாதியினிடத்தில் அறைவீட்டிற்குள் போகட்டும் என்றான்; அவள் தகப்பனோ, அவனை உள்ளேபோக ஒட்டாமல்:

But it came to pass within a while after, in the time of wheat harvest, that Samson visited his wife with a kid; and he said, I will go in to my wife into the chamber. But her father would not suffer him to go in.

நீ அவளை முற்றிலும் பகைத்துவிட்டாய் என்று நான் எண்ணி, அவளை உன் சிநேகிதனுக்குக் கொடுத்துவிட்டேன்; அவள் தங்கை அவளைப்பார்க்கிலும் அழகானவள் அல்லவா, அவளுக்குப் பதிலாக இவள் உனக்கு இருக்கட்டும் என்று சொன்னான்.

And her father said, I verily thought that thou hadst utterly hated her; therefore I gave her to thy companion: is not her younger sister fairer than she? take her, I pray thee, instead of her.

அப்பொழுது சிம்சோன்: நான் பெலிஸ்தருக்குப் பொல்லாப்புச் செய்தாலும், என்மேல் குற்றமில்லை என்று அவர்களுக்குச் சொல்லி,

And Samson said concerning them, Now shall I be more blameless than the Philistines, though I do them a displeasure.

புறப்பட்டுப்போய், முந்நூறு நரிகளைப் பிடித்து, பந்தங்களை எடுத்து, வாலோடே வால் சேர்த்து, இரண்டு வால்களுக்கும் நடுவே ஒவ்வொரு பந்தத்தை வைத்துக்கட்டி,

And Samson went and caught three hundred foxes, and took firebrands, and turned tail to tail, and put a firebrand in the midst between two tails.

பந்தங்களைக் கொளுத்தி, பெலிஸ்தரின் வெள்ளாண்மையிலே அவைகளை ஓடவிட்டு, கதிர்க்கட்டுகளையும் வெள்ளாண்மையையும் திராட்சத்தோட்டங்களையும் ஒலிவத்தோப்புக்களையும் சுட்டெரித்துப்போட்டான்.

And when he had set the brands on fire, he let them go into the standing corn of the Philistines, and burnt up both the shocks, and also the standing corn, with the vineyards and olives.

இப்படிச் செய்தவன் யார் என்று பெலிஸ்தர் கேட்கிறபோது, திம்னாத்தானுடைய மருமகனாகிய சிம்சோன்தான்; அவனுடைய பெண்சாதியை அவனுடைய சிநேகிதனுக்குக் கொடுத்துவிட்டபடியால் அப்படிச் செய்தான் என்றார்கள்; அப்பொழுது பெலிஸ்தர் போய், அவளையும் அவள் தகப்பனையும் அக்கினியால் சுட்டெரித்தார்கள்.

Then the Philistines said, Who hath done this? And they answered, Samson, the son in law of the Timnite, because he had taken his wife, and given her to his companion. And the Philistines came up, and burnt her and her father with fire.

அப்பொழுது சிம்சோன் அவர்களை நோக்கி: நீங்கள் இப்படிச் செய்தபடியால் நான் உங்கள் கையிலே பழிவாங்கினாலொழிய இளைப்பாறேன் என்று சொல்லி,

And Samson said unto them, Though ye have done this, yet will I be avenged of you, and after that I will cease.

அவர்களைச் சின்னபின்னமாகச் சங்காரம்பண்ணி, பின்பு போய், ஏத்தாம் ஊர்க் கன்மலைச் சந்திலே குடியிருந்தான்.

And he smote them hip and thigh with a great slaughter: and he went down and dwelt in the top of the rock Etam.

அப்பொழுது பெலிஸ்தர் போய், யூதாவிலே பாளயமிறங்கி, லேகி என்கிற வெளியிலே பரவியிருந்தார்கள்.

Then the Philistines went up, and pitched in Judah, and spread themselves in Lehi.

நீங்கள் எங்களுக்கு விரோதமாக வந்தது என்ன என்று யூதா மனுஷர் கேட்டதற்கு, அவர்கள்: சிம்சோன் எங்களுக்குச் செய்ததுபோல, நாங்களும் அவனுக்குச் செய்யும்படி அவனைக் கட்டுகிறதற்காக வந்தோம் என்றார்கள்.

And the men of Judah said, Why are ye come up against us? And they answered, To bind Samson are we come up, to do to him as he hath done to us.

அப்பொழுது யூதாவிலே மூவாயிரம்பேர் ஏத்தாம் ஊர்க் கன்மலைச் சந்திற்குப் போய்: பெலிஸ்தர் நம்மை ஆளுகிறார்கள் என்று தெரியாதா? பின்னை ஏன் எங்களுக்கு இப்படிச் செய்தாய் என்று சிம்சோனிடத்தில் சொன்னார்கள். அதற்கு அவன்: அவர்கள் எனக்குச் செய்தபடியே நானும் அவர்களுக்குச் செய்தேன் என்றான்.

Then three thousand men of Judah went to the top of the rock Etam, and said to Samson, Knowest thou not that the Philistines are rulers over us? what is this that thou hast done unto us? And he said unto them, As they did unto me, so have I done unto them.

அப்பொழுது அவர்கள்: உன்னைக்கட்டி, பெலிஸ்தர் கையில் ஒப்புக்கொடுக்க வந்திருக்கிறோம் என்றார்கள். அதற்குச் சிம்சோன்: நீங்களே என்மேல் விழுகிறதில்லை என்று எனக்கு ஆணையிடுங்கள் என்றான்.

And they said unto him, We are come down to bind thee, that we may deliver thee into the hand of the Philistines. And Samson said unto them, Swear unto me, that ye will not fall upon me yourselves.

அதற்கு அவர்கள்: நாங்கள் உன்னை இறுகக்கட்டி, அவர்கள் கையில் ஒப்புக்கொடுப்போமே அல்லாமல், உன்னைக் கொன்றுபோடமாட்டோம் என்று சொல்லி, இரண்டு புதுக் கயிறுகளாலே அவனைக் கட்டி, கன்மலையிலிருந்து கொண்டுபோனார்கள்.

And they spake unto him, saying, No; but we will bind thee fast, and deliver thee into their hand: but surely we will not kill thee. And they bound him with two new cords, and brought him up from the rock.

அவன் லேகிவரைக்கும் வந்து சேர்ந்தபோது, பெலிஸ்தர் அவனுக்கு விரோதமாய் ஆரவாரம் பண்ணினார்கள். அப்பொழுது கர்த்தருடைய ஆவி அவன்மேல் பலமாய் இறங்கினதினால், அவன் புயங்களில் கட்டியிருந்த கயிறுகள் நெருப்புப்பட்ட நூல்போலாகி, அவன் கட்டுகள் அவன் கைகளை விட்டு அறுந்துபோயிற்று.

And when he came unto Lehi, the Philistines shouted against him: and the Spirit of the LORD came mightily upon him, and the cords that were upon his arms became as flax that was burnt with fire, and his bands loosed from off his hands.

உடனே அவன் ஒரு கழுதையின் பச்சைத் தாடையெலும்பைக் கண்டு, தன் கையை நீட்டி அதை எடுத்து, அதினாலே ஆயிரம்பேரைக் கொன்றுபோட்டான்.

And he found a new jawbone of an ass, and put forth his hand, and took it, and slew a thousand men therewith.

அப்பொழுது சிம்சோன்: கழுதையின் தாடையெலும்பினால் குவியல் குவியலாகப் பட்டுக்கிடக்கிறார்கள், கழுதையின் தாடையெலும்பினால் ஆயிரம்பேரைக் கொன்றேன் என்றான்.

And Samson said, With the jawbone of an ass, heaps upon heaps, with the jaw of an ass have I slain a thousand men.

அப்படிச் சொல்லித் தீர்ந்தபின்பு, தன் கையில் இருந்த தாடையெலும்பை எறிந்துவிட்டு, அவ்விடத்திற்கு ராமாத்லேகி என்று பேரிட்டான்.

And it came to pass, when he had made an end of speaking, that he cast away the jawbone out of his hand, and called that place Ramathlehi.

அவன் மிகவும் தாகமடைந்து, கர்த்தரை நோக்கிக் கூப்பிட்டு: தேவரீர் உமது அடியேன் கையினால் இந்தப் பெரிய இரட்சிப்பைக் கட்டளையிட்டிருக்க, இப்பொழுது நான் தாகத்தினால் செத்து, விருந்தசேதனம் இல்லாதவர்கள் கையிலே விழவேண்டுமோ என்றான்.

And he was sore athirst, and called on the LORD, and said, Thou hast given this great deliverance into the hand of thy servant: and now shall I die for thirst, and fall into the hand of the uncircumcised?

அப்பொழுது தேவன் லேகியிலுள்ள பள்ளத்தைப் பிளக்கப்பண்ணினார்; அதிலிருந்து தண்ணீர் ஓடிவந்தது; அவன் குடித்தபோது அவன் உயிர் திரும்ப வந்தது, அவன் பிழைத்தான்; ஆனபடியால் அதற்கு எந்நக்கோரி என்று பேரிட்டான்; அது இந்நாள்வரையும் லேகியில் இருக்கிறது.

But God clave an hollow place that was in the jaw, and there came water thereout; and when he had drunk, his spirit came again, and he revived: wherefore he called the name thereof Enhakkore, which is in Lehi unto this day.

And he judged Israel in the days of the Philistines twenty years.

Then went Samson to Gaza, and saw there an harlot, and went in unto her.

அப்பொழுது: சிம்சோன் இங்கே வந்திருக்கிறான் என்று காசா ஊராருக்குச் சொல்லப்பட்டது. அவர்கள்: காலையில் வெளிச்சமாகிறபோது அவனைக் கொன்றுபோடுவோம் என்று சொல்லி, அவனை வளைந்துகொண்டு இராமுழுவதும் அவனுக்காகப் பட்டணவாசலில் பதிவிருந்து இராமுழுவதும் பேசாதிருந்தார்கள்.

And it was told the Gazites, saying, Samson is come hither. And they compassed him in, and laid wait for him all night in the gate of the city, and were quiet all the night, saying, In the morning, when it is day, we shall kill him.

And Samson lay till midnight, and arose at midnight, and took the doors of the gate of the city, and the two posts, and went away with them, bar and all, and put them upon his shoulders, and carried them up to the top of an hill that is before Hebron.

அதற்குப்பின்பு அவன் சோரேக் ஆற்றங்கரையில் இருக்கிற தெலீலாள் என்னும் பேருள்ள ஒரு ஸ்திரீயோடே சிநேகமாயிருந்தான்.

And it came to pass afterward, that he loved a woman in the valley of Sorek, whose name was Delilah.

அவளிடத்திற்குப் பெலிஸ்தரின் அதிபதிகள் போய்: நீ அவனை நயம்பண்ணி, அவனுடைய மகா பலம் எதினாலே உண்டாயிருக்கிறது என்றும், நாங்கள் அவனைக் கட்டிச் சிறுமைப்படுத்துகிறதற்கு எதினாலே அவனை மேற்கொள்ளலாம் என்றும் அறிந்துகொள்; அப்பொழுது நாங்கள் ஒவ்வொருவரும் ஆயிரத்துநூறு வெள்ளிக்காசு உனக்குக் கொடுப்போம் என்றார்கள்.

And the lords of the Philistines came up unto her, and said unto her, Entice him, and see wherein his great strength lieth, and by what means we may prevail against him, that we may bind him to afflict him: and we will give thee every one of us eleven hundred pieces of silver.

அப்படியே தெலீலாள் சிம்சோனைப் பார்த்து: உன் மகா பலம் எதினாலே உண்டாயிருக்கிறது. உன்னைச் சிறுமைப்படுத்த, உன்னை எதினாலே கட்டலாம் என்று நீ எனக்குச் சொல்லவேண்டும் என்றாள்.

And Delilah said to Samson, Tell me, I pray thee, wherein thy great strength lieth, and wherewith thou mightest be bound to afflict thee.

அதற்குச் சிம்சோன்: உலராத பச்சையான ஏழு அகணிநார்க் கயிறுகளாலே என்னைக் கட்டினால், நான் பலட்சயமாகி, மற்ற மனுஷனைப்போல் ஆவேன் என்றான்.

And Samson said unto her, If they bind me with seven green withs that were never dried, then shall I be weak, and be as another man.

அப்பொழுது பெலிஸ்தரின் அதிபதிகள் உலராத பச்சையான ஏழு அகணிநார்க் கயிறுகளை அவளிடத்திற்குக் கொண்டுவந்தார்கள்; அவைகளால் அவள் அவனைக் கட்டினாள்.

Then the lords of the Philistines brought up to her seven green withs which had not been dried, and she bound him with them.

பதிவிருக்கிறவர்கள் அறைவீட்டிலே காத்திருக்கும்போது, அவள்: சிம்சோனே, பெலிஸ்தர் உன்மேல் வந்துவிட்டார்கள் என்றாள்; அப்பொழுது, சணல்நூலானது நெருப்புப்பட்டவுடனே இற்றுப்போகிறதுபோல, அவன் அந்தக் கயிறுகளை அறுத்துப்போட்டான்; அவன் பலம் இன்னதினாலே உண்டாயிருக்கிறது என்று அறியப்படவில்லை.

Now there were men lying in wait, abiding with her in the chamber. And she said unto him, The Philistines be upon thee, Samson. And he brake the withs, as a thread of tow is broken when it toucheth the fire. So his strength was not known.

அப்பொழுது தெலீலாள் சிம்சோனைப் பார்த்து: இதோ, என்னைப் பரியாசம்பண்ணி, எனக்குப் பொய்சொன்னாய்; இப்போதும் உன்னை எதினாலே கட்டலாம் என்று எனக்குச் சொல்லவேண்டும் என்றாள்.

And Delilah said unto Samson, Behold, thou hast mocked me, and told me lies: now tell me, I pray thee, wherewith thou mightest be bound.

அதற்கு அவன்: இதுவரைக்கும் ஒரு வேலைக்கும் வழங்காதிருக்கிற புதுக்கயிறுகளால் என்னை இறுகக் கட்டினால், நான் பலட்சயமாகி, மற்ற மனுஷனைப்போல் ஆவேன் என்றான்.

And he said unto her, If they bind me fast with new ropes that never were occupied, then shall I be weak, and be as another man.

அப்பொழுது தெலீலாள், புதுக்கயிறுகளை வாங்கி, அவைகளால் அவனைக்கட்டி: சிம்சோனே, பெலிஸ்தர் உன்மேல் வந்துவிட்டார்கள் என்றாள்: பதிவிருக்கிறவர்கள் அறைவீட்டில் இருந்தார்கள்; ஆனாலும் அவன் தன் புயங்களில் இருந்த கயிறுகளை ஒரு நூலைப்போல அறுத்துப்போட்டான்.

Delilah therefore took new ropes, and bound him therewith, and said unto him, The Philistines be upon thee, Samson. And there were liers in wait abiding in the chamber. And he brake them from off his arms like a thread.

பின்பு தெலீலாள் சிம்சோனைப் பார்த்து: இதுவரைக்கும் என்னைப் பரியாசம்பண்ணி, எனக்குப் பொய்சொன்னாய்; உன்னை எதினாலே கட்டலாம் என்று எனக்குச் சொல்லவேண்டும் என்றாள்; அதற்கு அவன்: நீ என் தலைமயிரின் ஏழுஜடைகளை நெசவுநூல் பாவோடே பின்னிவிட்டால் ஆகும் என்றான்.

And Delilah said unto Samson, Hitherto thou hast mocked me, and told me lies: tell me wherewith thou mightest be bound. And he said unto her, If thou weavest the seven locks of my head with the web.

அப்படியே அவள் செய்து, அவைகளை ஆணியடித்து மாட்டி: சிம்சோனே, பெலிஸ்தர் உன்மேல் வந்துவிட்டார்கள் என்றாள்; அவன் நித்திரைவிட்டெழும்பி, நெசவு ஆணியையும் நூல்பாவையும் கூடப் பிடுங்கிக்கொண்டு போனான்.

And she fastened it with the pin, and said unto him, The Philistines be upon thee, Samson. And he awaked out of his sleep, and went away with the pin of the beam, and with the web.

அப்பொழுது அவள் அவனைப் பார்த்து: உன் இருதயம் என்னோடு இராதிருக்க, உன்னைச் சிநேகிக்கிறேன் என்று நீ எப்படிச் சொல்லுகிறாய்? நீ இந்த மூன்று விசையும் என்னைப் பரியாசம் பண்ணினாய் அல்லவா, உன்னுடைய மகாபலம் எதினாலே உண்டாயிருக்கிறது என்று எனக்குச் சொல்லாமற்போனாயே என்று சொல்லி,

And she said unto him, How canst thou say, I love thee, when thine heart is not with me? thou hast mocked me these three times, and hast not told me wherein thy great strength lieth.

இப்படி அவனைத் தினம்தினம் தன் வார்த்தைகளினாலே நெருக்கி அலட்டிக்கொண்டிருக்கிறதினால், சாகத்தக்கதாய் அவன் ஆத்துமா விசனப்பட்டு,

And it came to pass, when she pressed him daily with her words, and urged him, so that his soul was vexed unto death;

தன் இருதயத்தையெல்லாம் அவளுக்கு வெளிப்படுத்தி: சவரகன் கத்தி என் தலையின்மேல் படவில்லை; நான் என் தாயின் கர்ப்பத்தில் பிறந்ததுமுதல் தேவனுக்கென்று நசரேயனானவன்; என் தலைசிரைக்கப்பட்டால், என் பலம் என்னை விட்டுப்போகும்; அதினாலே நான் பலட்சயமாகி, மற்ற எல்லா மனுஷரைப்போலும் ஆவேன் என்று அவளிடத்தில் சொன்னான்.

That he told her all his heart, and said unto her, There hath not come a razor upon mine head; for I have been a Nazarite unto God from my mother's womb: if I be shaven, then my strength will go from me, and I shall become weak, and be like any other man.

அவன் தன் இருதயத்தையெல்லாம் தனக்கு வெளிப்படுத்தினதைத் தெலீலாள் கண்டபோது, அவள் பெலிஸ்தரின் அதிபதிகளுக்கு ஆள் அனுப்பி: இந்த ஒருவிசை வாருங்கள், அவன் தன் இருதயத்தையெல்லாம் எனக்கு வெளிப்படுத்தினான் என்று சொல்லச்சொன்னாள்; அப்பொழுது பெலிஸ்தரின் அதிபதிகள் வெள்ளிக்காசுகளைத் தங்கள் கையில் எடுத்துக்கொண்டு அவளிடத்துக்கு வந்தார்கள்.

And when Delilah saw that he had told her all his heart, she sent and called for the lords of the Philistines, saying, Come up this once, for he hath shewed me all his heart. Then the lords of the Philistines came up unto her, and brought money in their hand.

அவள் அவனைத் தன் மடியிலே நித்திரைசெய்யப்பண்ணி, ஒருவனை அழைத்து, அவன் தலைமயிரின் ஏழு ஜடைகளையும் சிரைப்பித்து, அவனைச் சிறுமைப்படுத்தத் தொடங்கினாள்; அவன் பலம் அவனைவிட்டு நீங்கிற்று.

And she made him sleep upon her knees; and she called for a man, and she caused him to shave off the seven locks of his head; and she began to afflict him, and his strength went from him.

அப்பொழுது அவள்: சிம்சோனே, பெலிஸ்தர் உன்மேல் வந்துவிட்டார்கள் என்றாள்; அவன் நித்திரைவிட்டு விழித்து, கர்த்தர் தன்னைவிட்டு விலகினதை அறியாமல், எப்போதும்போல உதறிப்போட்டு வெளியே போவேன் என்றான்.

And she said, The Philistines be upon thee, Samson. And he awoke out of his sleep, and said, I will go out as at other times before, and shake myself. And he wist not that the LORD was departed from him.

பெலிஸ்தர் அவனைப் பிடித்து, அவன் கண்களைப் பிடுங்கி, அவனைக் காசாவுக்குக் கொண்டுபோய், அவனுக்கு இரண்டு வெண்கல விலங்குபோட்டுச் சிறைச்சாலையிலே மாவரைத்துக்கொண்டிருக்க வைத்தார்கள்.

But the Philistines took him, and put out his eyes, and brought him down to Gaza, and bound him with fetters of brass; and he did grind in the prison house.

அவன் தலைமயிர் சிரைக்கப்பட்டபின்பு, திரும்பவும் முளைக்கத் தொடங்கிற்று.

Howbeit the hair of his head began to grow again after he was shaven.

பெலிஸ்தரின் பிரபுக்கள்: நம்முடைய பகைஞனாகிய சிம்சோனை நம்முடைய தேவன் நம்முடைய கையில் ஒப்புக்கொடுத்தார் என்று சொல்லி, தங்கள் தேவனாகிய தாகோனுக்கு ஒரு பெரிய பலிசெலுத்தவும், சந்தோஷம் கொண்டாடவும் கூடிவந்தார்கள்.

Then the lords of the Philistines gathered them together for to offer a great sacrifice unto Dagon their god, and to rejoice: for they said, Our god hath delivered Samson our enemy into our hand.

ஜனங்கள் அவனைக் கண்டவுடனே: நம்முடைய தேசத்தைப் பாழாக்கி, நம்மில் அநேகரைக் கொன்றுபோட்ட நம்முடைய பகைஞனை நம்முடைய தேவன் நமது கையில் ஒப்புக்கொடுத்தார் என்று சொல்லி, தங்கள் தேவனைப் புகழ்ந்தார்கள்.

And when the people saw him, they praised their god: for they said, Our god hath delivered into our hands our enemy, and the destroyer of our country, which slew many of us.

இப்படி அவர்கள் மனமகிழ்ச்சியாயிருக்கும்போது: நமக்கு முன்பாக வேடிக்கைகாட்டும்படிக்கு, சிம்சோனைக் கூட்டிக்கொண்டு வாருங்கள் என்றார்கள்; அப்பொழுது சிம்சோனைச் சிறைச்சாலையிலிருந்து கூட்டிக்கொண்டு வந்தார்கள், அவர்களுக்கு முன்பாக வேடிக்கை காட்டினான்; அவனைத் தூண்களுக்கு நடுவே நிறுத்தினார்கள்.

And it came to pass, when their hearts were merry, that they said, Call for Samson, that he may make us sport. And they called for Samson out of the prison house; and he made them sport: and they set him between the pillars.

சிம்சோன் தனக்குக் கைலாகு கொடுத்து நடத்துகிற பிள்ளையாண்டானோடே, வீட்டைத் தாங்குகிற தூண்களிலே நான் சாய்ந்துகொண்டிருக்கும்படி அவைகளை நான் தடவிப்பார்க்கட்டும் என்றான்.

And Samson said unto the lad that held him by the hand, Suffer me that I may feel the pillars whereupon the house standeth, that I may lean upon them.

அந்த வீடு புருஷராலும் ஸ்திரீகளாலும் நிறைந்திருந்தது; அங்கே பெலிஸ்தரின் சகல பிரபுக்களும், வீட்டின்மேல் புருஷரும் ஸ்திரீகளுமாக ஏறக்குறைய மூவாயிரம்பேர், சிம்சோன் வேடிக்கை காட்டுகிறதைப் பார்த்துக்கொண்டிருந்தார்கள்.

Now the house was full of men and women; and all the lords of the Philistines were there; and there were upon the roof about three thousand men and women, that beheld while Samson made sport.

அப்பொழுது சிம்சோன் கர்த்தரை நோக்கிக் கூப்பிட்டு: கர்த்தராகிய ஆண்டவரே, நான் என் இரண்டு கண்களுக்காக ஒரே தீர்வையாய்ப் பெலிஸ்தர் கையிலே பழிவாங்கும்படிக்கு, இந்த ஒருவிசை மாத்திரம் என்னை நினைத்தருளும், தேவனே, பலப்படுத்தும் என்று சொல்லி,

And Samson called unto the LORD, and said, O Lord GOD, remember me, I pray thee, and strengthen me, I pray thee, only this once, O God, that I may be at once avenged of the Philistines for my two eyes.

சிம்சோன் அந்த வீட்டைத் தாங்கி நிற்கிற இரண்டு நடுத்தூண்களில், ஒன்றைத் தன் வலதுகையினாலும், மற்றொன்றைத் தன் இடதுகையினாலும் பிடித்துக்கொண்டு,

And Samson took hold of the two middle pillars upon which the house stood, and on which it was borne up, of the one with his right hand, and of the other with his left.

என் ஜீவன் பெலிஸ்தரோடேகூட மடியக்கடவது என்று சொல்லி, பலமாய்ச் சாய்க்க, அந்த வீடு அதில் இருந்த பிரபுக்கள்மேலும் எல்லா ஜனங்கள்மேலும் விழுந்தது; இவ்விதமாய் அவன் உயிரோடிருக்கையில் அவனால் கொல்லப்பட்டவர்களைப்பார்க்கிலும், அவன் சாகும்போது அவனால் கொல்லப்பட்டவர்கள் அதிகமாயிருந்தார்கள்.

And Samson said, Let me die with the Philistines. And he bowed himself with all his might; and the house fell upon the lords, and upon all the people that were therein. So the dead which he slew at his death were more than they which he slew in his life.

Then his brethren and all the house of his father came down, and took him, and brought him up, and buried him between Zorah and Eshtaol in the buryingplace of Manoah his father. And he judged Israel twenty years.

நாங்கள் அவர்களை விட்டுப் பிரிந்து, துறைபெயர்ந்தபின்பு, நேராயோடி, கோஸ்தீவையும், மறுநாளில் ரோதுதீவையும் சேர்ந்து, அவ்விடம் விட்டுப் பத்தாரா பட்டணத்துக்கு வந்து,

And it came to pass, that after we were gotten from them, and had launched, we came with a straight course unto Coos, and the day following unto Rhodes, and from thence unto Patara:

அங்கே பெனிக்கே தேசத்திற்குப் போகிற ஒரு கப்பலைக் கண்டு, அதிலே ஏறிப்போனோம்.

And finding a ship sailing over unto Phenicia, we went aboard, and set forth.

சீப்புருதீவைக் கண்டு, அதை இடதுபுறமாக விட்டு, சீரியாநாட்டிற்கு ஓடி, தீருபட்டணத்துறையில் இறங்கினோம்; அங்கே கப்பலின் சரக்குகளை இறக்கவேண்டியதாயிருந்தது.

Now when we had discovered Cyprus, we left it on the left hand, and sailed into Syria, and landed at Tyre: for there the ship was to unlade her burden.

அவ்விடத்திலுள்ள சீஷரைக் கண்டுபிடித்து, அங்கே ஏழுநாள் தங்கினோம். அவர்கள் பவுலை நோக்கி: நீர் எருசலேமுக்குப் போகவேண்டாம் என்று ஆவியின் ஏவுதலினாலே சொன்னார்கள்.

And finding disciples, we tarried there seven days: who said to Paul through the Spirit, that he should not go up to Jerusalem.

அந்த நாட்கள் நிறைவேறினபின்பு, நாங்கள் புறப்பட்டுப்போகையில், அவர்களெல்லாரும் மனைவிகளோடும் பிள்ளைகளோடுங்கூடப் பட்டணத்துக்குப் புறம்பே எங்களை வழிவிட்டனுப்பும்படி வந்தார்கள். அப்பொழுது கடற்கரையிலே நாங்கள் முழங்காற்படியிட்டு ஜெபம்பண்ணினோம்.

And when we had accomplished those days, we departed and went our way; and they all brought us on our way, with wives and children, till we were out of the city: and we kneeled down on the shore, and prayed.

ஒருவரிடத்திலொருவர் உத்தரவு பெற்றுக்கொண்டபின்பு, நாங்கள் கப்பல் ஏறினோம்; அவர்கள் தங்கள் வீடுகளுக்குத் திரும்பிப்போனார்கள்.

And when we had taken our leave one of another, we took ship; and they returned home again.

நாங்கள் கப்பல்யாத்திரையை முடித்து, தீருபட்டணத்தைவிட்டுப் பித்தொலோமாய் பட்டணத்துக்கு வந்து, சகோதரரை வினவி, அவர்களிடத்தில் ஒருநாள் தங்கினோம்.

And when we had finished our course from Tyre, we came to Ptolemais, and saluted the brethren, and abode with them one day.

மறுநாளிலே பவுலைச் சேர்ந்தவர்களாகிய நாங்கள் புறப்பட்டுச் செசரியா பட்டணத்துக்குவந்து, ஏழுபேரில் ஒருவனாகிய பிலிப்பென்னும் சுவிசேஷகனுடைய வீட்டிலே பிரவேசித்து, அவனிடத்தில் தங்கினோம்.

And the next day we that were of Paul's company departed, and came unto Caesarea: and we entered into the house of Philip the evangelist, which was one of the seven; and abode with him.

தீர்க்கதரிசனஞ்சொல்லுகிற கன்னியாஸ்திரீகளாகிய நாலு குமாரத்திகள் அவனுக்கு இருந்தார்கள்.

And the same man had four daughters, virgins, which did prophesy.

நாங்கள் அநேகநாள் அங்கே தங்கியிருக்கையில், அகபு என்னும் பேர்கொண்ட ஒரு தீர்க்கதரிசி யூதேயாவிலிருந்து வந்தான்.

And as we tarried there many days, there came down from Judaea a certain prophet, named Agabus.

அவன் எங்களிடத்தில் வந்து, பவுலினுடைய கச்சையை எடுத்துத் தன் கைகளையும் கால்களையும் கட்டிக்கொண்டு: இந்தக் கச்சையையுடையவனை எருசலேமிலுள்ள யூதர் இவ்விதமாய்க் கட்டிப் புறஜாதியார் கைகளில் ஒப்புக்கொடுப்பார்கள் என்று பரிசுத்த ஆவியானவர் சொல்லுகிறார் என்றான்.

And when he was come unto us, he took Paul's girdle, and bound his own hands and feet, and said, Thus saith the Holy Ghost, So shall the Jews at Jerusalem bind the man that owneth this girdle, and shall deliver him into the hands of the Gentiles.

இவைகளை நாங்கள் கேட்டபொழுது, எருசலேமுக்குப் போகவேண்டாமென்று, நாங்களும் அவ்விடத்தாரும் அவனை வேண்டிக்கொண்டோம்.

And when we heard these things, both we, and they of that place, besought him not to go up to Jerusalem.

அதற்குப் பவுல்: நீங்கள் அழுது என் இருதயத்தை ஏன் உடைந்துபோகப்பண்ணுகிறீர்கள்? எருசலேமில் நான் கர்த்தராகிய இயேசுவின் நாமத்திற்காகக் கட்டப்படுவதற்குமாத்திரமல்ல, மரிப்பதற்கும் ஆயத்தமாயிருக்கிறேன் என்றான்.

Then Paul answered, What mean ye to weep and to break mine heart? for I am ready not to be bound only, but also to die at Jerusalem for the name of the Lord Jesus.

அவன் சம்மதியாதபடியினாலே, கர்த்தருடைய சித்தம் ஆகக்கடவதென்று அமர்ந்திருந்தோம்.

And when he would not be persuaded, we ceased, saying, The will of the Lord be done.

அந்த நாட்களுக்குப்பின்பு நாங்கள் பிரயாண சாமான்களை ஆயத்தம்பண்ணிக்கொண்டு எருசலேமுக்குப் போனோம்.

And after those days we took up our carriages, and went up to Jerusalem.

செசரியா பட்டணத்திலுள்ள சீஷரில் சிலர் எங்களுடனேகூட வந்ததுமன்றி, சீப்புருதீவானாகிய மினாசோன் என்னும் ஒரு பழைய சீஷனிடத்திலே நாங்கள் தங்கும்படியாக அவனையும் தங்களோடே கூட்டிக்கொண்டுவந்தார்கள்.

There went with us also certain of the disciples of Caesarea, and brought with them one Mnason of Cyprus, an old disciple, with whom we should lodge.

நாங்கள் எருசலேமுக்கு வந்தபோது, சகோதரர் எங்களைச் சந்தோஷமாய் ஏற்றுக்கொண்டார்கள்.

And when we were come to Jerusalem, the brethren received us gladly.

மறுநாளிலே பவுல் எங்களைக் கூட்டிக்கொண்டு, யாக்கோபினிடத்திற்குப் போனான்; மூப்பரெல்லாரும் அங்கே கூடிவந்தார்கள்.

And the day following Paul went in with us unto James; and all the elders were present.

அவர்களை அவன் வினவி, தன் ஊழியத்தினாலே தேவன் புறஜாதிகளிடத்தில் செய்தவைகளை ஒவ்வொன்றாய் விவரித்துச்சொன்னான்.

And when he had saluted them, he declared particularly what things God had wrought among the Gentiles by his ministry.

அதை அவர்கள் கேட்டுக் கர்த்தரை மகிமைப்படுத்தினார்கள். பின்பு அவர்கள் அவனை நோக்கி: சகோதரனே, யூதர்களுக்குள் அநேகமாயிரம்பேர் விசுவாசிகளாயிருக்கிறதைப் பார்க்கிறீரே, அவர்களெல்லாரும் நியாயப்பிரமாணத்துக்காக வைராக்கியமுள்ளவர்களாயிருக்கிறார்கள்.

And when they heard it, they glorified the Lord, and said unto him, Thou seest, brother, how many thousands of Jews there are which believe; and they are all zealous of the law:

புறஜாதிகளிடத்திலிருக்கிற யூதரெல்லாரும் தங்கள் பிள்ளைகளுக்கு விருத்தசேதனம்பண்ணவும், முறைமைகளின்படி நடக்கவும் வேண்டுவதில்லையென்று நீர் சொல்லி, இவ்விதமாய் அவர்கள் மோசேயை விட்டுப் பிரிந்துபோகும்படி போதிக்கிறீரென்று இவர்கள் உம்மைக்குறித்துக் கேள்விப்பட்டிருக்கிறார்கள்.

And they are informed of thee, that thou teachest all the Jews which are among the Gentiles to forsake Moses, saying that they ought not to circumcise their children, neither to walk after the customs.

இப்பொழுது செய்யவேண்டியது என்ன? நீர் வந்திருக்கிறீரென்று இவர்கள் கேள்விப்பட்டு, நிச்சயமாகக் கூட்டங்கூடுவார்கள்.

What is it therefore? the multitude must needs come together: for they will hear that thou art come.

ஆகையால் நாங்கள் உமக்குச் சொல்லுகிறபடி நீர் செய்யவேண்டும்; அதென்னவென்றால், பிரார்த்தனைபண்ணிக்கொண்டவர்களாகிய நாலுபேர் எங்களிடத்தில் இருக்கிறார்கள்.

Do therefore this that we say to thee: We have four men which have a vow on them;

அவர்களை நீர் சேர்த்துக்கொண்டு, அவர்களுடனேகூடச் சுத்திகரிப்புச் செய்துகொண்டு, அவர்கள் தலைச்சவரம்பண்ணிக்கொள்வதற்குச் செல்லுமானதைச் செலவுசெய்யும்; அப்படிச் செய்தால் உம்மைக் குறித்துக் கேள்விப்பட்ட காரியங்கள் அபத்தமென்றும், நீரும் நியாயப்பிரமாணத்தைக் கைக்கொண்டு நடக்கிறவரென்றும் எல்லாரும் அறிந்துகொள்வார்கள்.

Them take, and purify thyself with them, and be at charges with them, that they may shave their heads: and all may know that those things, whereof they were informed concerning thee, are nothing; but that thou thyself also walkest orderly, and keepest the law.

விசுவாசிகளான புறஜாதியார் இப்படிப்பட்டவைகளைக் கைக்கொள்ளாமல், விக்கிரகங்களுக்குப் படைத்ததற்கும், இரத்தத்திற்கும், நெருக்குண்டு செத்ததிற்கும், வேசித்தனத்திற்கும், விலகியிருக்கவேண்டுமென்று நாங்கள் தீர்மானம்பண்ணி, அவர்களுக்கு எழுதியனுப்பினோமே என்றார்கள்.

As touching the Gentiles which believe, we have written and concluded that they observe no such thing, save only that they keep themselves from things offered to idols, and from blood, and from strangled, and from fornication.

அப்பொழுது பவுல் அந்த மனுஷரைச் சேர்த்துக்கொண்டு, மறுநாளிலே அவர்களுடனேகூடத் தானும் சுத்திகரிப்புச் செய்துகொண்டு, தேவாலயத்தில் பிரவேசித்து, அவர்களில் ஒவ்வொருவனுக்காக வேண்டிய பலிசெலுத்தித் தீருமளவும் சுத்திகரிப்பு நாட்களை நிறைவேற்றுவேனென்று அறிவித்தான்.

Then Paul took the men, and the next day purifying himself with them entered into the temple, to signify the accomplishment of the days of purification, until that an offering should be offered for every one of them.

அந்த ஏழுநாட்களும் நிறைவேறிவருகையில் ஆசியா நாட்டிலிருந்து வந்த யூதர்கள் அவனை தேவாலயத்திலே கண்டு, ஜனங்களெல்லாரையும் எடுத்துவிட்டு, அவன்மேல் கைபோட்டு:

And when the seven days were almost ended, the Jews which were of Asia, when they saw him in the temple, stirred up all the people, and laid hands on him,

இஸ்ரவேலரே, உதவிசெய்யுங்கள். நம்முடைய ஜனத்திற்கும் வேதப்பிரமாணத்திற்கும் இந்த ஸ்தலத்திற்கும் விரோதமாக எங்கும் எல்லாருக்கும் போதித்துவருகிறவன் இவன்தான்; இந்தத் தேவாலயத்திற்குள்ளே கிரேக்கரையும் கூட்டிக்கொண்டுவந்து, இந்தப் பரிசுத்தஸ்தலத்தைத் தீட்டுப்படுத்தினான் என்று சத்தமிட்டார்கள்.

Crying out, Men of Israel, help: This is the man, that teacheth all men every where against the people, and the law, and this place: and further brought Greeks also into the temple, and hath polluted this holy place.

எபேசியனாகிய துரோப்பீமு என்பவன் முன்னே நகரத்தில் பவுலுடனேகூட இருக்கிறதைக் கண்டிருந்தபடியால், பவுல் அவனைத் தேவாலயத்தில் கூட்டிக்கொண்டு வந்திருப்பானென்று நினைத்தார்கள்.

For they had seen before with him in the city Trophimus an Ephesian, whom they supposed that Paul had brought into the temple.)

அப்பொழுது நகரமுழுவதும் கலக்கமுற்றது; ஜனங்கள் கூட்டமாய் ஓடிவந்து, பவுலைப் பிடித்து, அவனை தேவாலயத்திற்குப் புறம்பே இழுத்துக்கொண்டுபோனார்கள்; உடனே கதவுகள் பூட்டப்பட்டது.

And all the city was moved, and the people ran together: and they took Paul, and drew him out of the temple: and forthwith the doors were shut.

அவர்கள் அவனைக் கொலைசெய்ய எத்தனித்திருக்கையில், எருசலேம் முழுவதும் கலக்கமாயிருக்கிறதென்று போர்ச்சேவகரின் சேனாதிபதிக்குச் செய்திவந்தது.

And as they went about to kill him, tidings came unto the chief captain of the band, that all Jerusalem was in an uproar.

உடனே அவன் போர்ச்சேவகரையும் அவர்களுடைய அதிபதிகளையும் கூட்டிக்கொண்டு, அவர்களிடத்திற்கு ஓடினான்; சேனாதிபதியையும் போர்ச்சேவகரையும் அவர்கள் கண்டபோது பவுலை அடிக்கிறதை விட்டு நிறுத்தினார்கள்.

Who immediately took soldiers and centurions, and ran down unto them: and when they saw the chief captain and the soldiers, they left beating of Paul.

அப்பொழுது சேனாதிபதி கிட்டவந்து அவனைப் பிடித்து, இரண்டு சங்கிலிகளினாலே கட்டும்படி சொல்லி: இவன் யார் என்றும் என்ன செய்தான் என்றும் விசாரித்தான்.

Then the chief captain came near, and took him, and commanded him to be bound with two chains; and demanded who he was, and what he had done.

அதற்கு ஜனங்கள் பலவிதமாய்ச் சத்தமிட்டார்கள்; சந்தடியினாலே நிச்சயத்தை அவன் அறியக்கூடாமல், அவனைக் கோட்டைக்குள்ளே கொண்டுபோகும்படி கட்டளையிட்டான்.

And some cried one thing, some another, among the multitude: and when he could not know the certainty for the tumult, he commanded him to be carried into the castle.

அவன் படிகள்மேல் ஏறினபோது ஜனக்கூட்டம் திரண்டு பின்சென்று,

And when he came upon the stairs, so it was, that he was borne of the soldiers for the violence of the people.

இவனை அகற்றும் என்று உக்கிரமாய்க் கூப்பிட்டபடியினாலே, போர்ச்சேவகர் அவனைத் தூக்கிக்கொண்டு போகவேண்டியதாயிருந்தது.

For the multitude of the people followed after, crying, Away with him.

அவர்கள் பவுலைக் கோட்டைக்குள்ளே கொண்டுபோகிற சமயத்தில், அவன் சேனாதிபதியை நோக்கி: நான் உம்முடனே ஒரு வார்த்தை பேசலாமா என்றான். அதற்கு அவன்: உனக்குக் கிரேக்குபாஷை தெரியுமா?

And as Paul was to be led into the castle, he said unto the chief captain, May I speak unto thee? Who said, Canst thou speak Greek?

நீ இந்த நாட்களுக்குமுன்னே கலகமுண்டாக்கி, நாலாயிரங்கொலைபாதகரை வனாந்தரத்திற்குக் கொண்டுபோன எகிப்தியன் அல்லவா என்றான்.

Art not thou that Egyptian, which before these days madest an uproar, and leddest out into the wilderness four thousand men that were murderers?

அதற்குப் பவுல்: நான் சிலிசியா நாட்டிலுள்ள கீர்த்திபெற்ற தர்சுபட்டணத்து யூதன்; ஜனங்களுடனே பேசும்படி எனக்கு உத்தரவாகவேண்டுமென்று உம்மை வேண்டிக்கொள்ளுகிறேன் என்றான்.

But Paul said, I am a man which am a Jew of Tarsus, a city in Cilicia, a citizen of no mean city: and, I beseech thee, suffer me to speak unto the people.

உத்தரவானபோது, பவுல் படிகளின்மேல் நின்று ஜனங்களைப்பார்த்துக் கையமர்த்தினான்; மிகுந்த அமைதலுண்டாயிற்று; அப்பொழுது அவன் எபிரெயுபாஷையிலே பேசத்தொடங்கினான்:

And when he had given him licence, Paul stood on the stairs, and beckoned with the hand unto the people. And when there was made a great silence, he spake unto them in the Hebrew tongue, saying,
